Frankly I'm fed up of seeing sentances like this along the bottom of my screen

Currently Active Users: 42 (12 members and 30 guests)

So it may not always be those exact figures but it is right now and often it's like that so I think - like PESfan - we should make this forum register only. Any silly guests that try and enter the forum will be taken directly to an registration form :D and hopefully we'll start to have more people posting and we can flood out the idiots that we already have here with decent posters making them less visible if you sort of squint your eyes :o

On another note while I'm here I think the Babes section is turning our forum seedy and bringing in perverts. For example massayako (http://forum.pesinsight.com/member.php?u=19958) has 30 posts - all of them in Babes and Celebs

i dont mind the guset, think of it this way, there be more people with one post just so they can see one question then leavve never to be seen again. a sulution if possable my be just not show the number of gusets?

Well to back up my point - it's currently

Currently Active Users: 70 (21 members and 49 guests)

Wouldn't you rather that was 70 members 0 guests?

I posted about this in Off-Topic a few weeks ago.

Maybe if we make some of the sections for members only - like Editing and General Discussions, then it might increase members?

Some people might become a member but never post, just browse the forums as they did when they were a guest

I agree. people who want to see the information about pes/we should register first.

It isn't an option. the forums used to be like that. In business terms, having this forum member only now would be disasterous. Mainly due to the search engine spiders. They can not list our pages unless the spiders can access them. Spiders can not access pages which require a registration. we really can not afford to lose the search engine traffic we get. In addition, the more people that browse the forums, the more people that there is to click on any sponsorship programs we have running. 90% of guests would leave if they had to register.

plus, if a person doesnt HAVE to register, it means those that do actually want to post.

Fair enough.

Do enough people click on the adverts or shall we 'encourage' (in a good way) more to do so?

I think it's quite annoying the amount that register and NEVER post.

Can anything be done about that?

mutu

Yeah we should force them to - uuuhm, somehow

How about a last activity culling programme?
I don't mean actually finding-out where these guys live & sending the "knuckle bros." around. :p
What I suggest is deleting all the User I.D's of anyone whose last activity was, say... 6 months ago?
A lot of folk who do wanna post, have to use the name "Delbert 37" or something, coz 36 other no-post heroes (who haven't even used the forum for over 6 months) have the other Delbert's
erm you know what I mean
I think!?
What say you, P?
Can that be done, still keeping the option open to register or not. Seems like a good compromise, if there's a facility for you to delete old (non) users in that way.

Has the number of guests increased since the introduction of the 'babes and celebs' section, or the number of (offended) members gone down ?

i think you should have a 'why this forum is shit hot' section, and give guests an incentive to join.

I disagree if people want to check out the site why not if they like it the will register .
If they dont they wont come back anyway. I wouldn't come back if I had to listen to the likes of ye winging and wasting time writing silly comments like this.

Legend Killer, constructive though your post tries to be, the fact remains that it's:

Currently Active Users: 68 (26 members and 42 guests)

These people aren't going away and not many are joining. So how do you explain that?

Billy Minof
25-05-2004, 14:51
 I cannot and do not want to talk about this all day but as I was saying I am only new member and the reason I joined was I was a guest first and liked the site and joined up so that is where my answer came from.

He's got a point, people may be reluctant to become a member if they don't know what the site's all about. i think making more areas member only would encourage more guests to join...

EDIT: Although right now we have no less than 49 guests which is a hell of a lot.

How about for that musssaatyaaaakaaa person who only posts on Babes and Celebs, the status under his name ('PESInsight Legend' etc...) is changed to 'Dirty Pervert' until he starts contributing to the rest of the forum.

Well I think it's a good idea.

someone from gamespot

and maybe its the reason for many guests were online last night or yesterday

we have now disallowed guests from viewing threads. they can see the titles, but can not see the actual contents. which hopefully makes more register, and indeed clearly does :) it also helps bandwidth

That's definitely a good idea, clear out the cruisers. If there's anything here at all that they want to see (which presumably there is cos they're here then they can register for free anyway).
