Who do you think is the best central defender on the game?

They must be good at:

Tackling

Clearances

Headers (Clearing and scoring from corners)

Running and closing strikers down

You can name either regular players or classic players

My best are Rijkaard (Heroic Holland), Samuel, Matthaus (Genuine Germany), Campbell, Nesta and Cannavaro.

Nesta i think. No one comes close, and he made a countless number of important tackles for me when i had him in my ML team.

Koeman and Beckenbauer have been useful for me.
Plus Koeman is always scoring from corners too.

I play best with Rio Ferdinand of man utd. Lucio & Nesta are also good centre backs!

I use Samuel together with Nesta. When using classic players Rijkaard is the man. Cannavaro would be great if he was taller.

I Found that Fernando Couto has been vaulable at cruicial moments he's also quite good at closing down. a good goalie plays for Boca Juniors you will notice him cause he's got about 20 letters in his name i think it starts like Abb... or something like that!

i use tudor and nesta in my ML team. a combination of height and power with speed and tackling. tudor even stands up to koller when it comes to heading and strength.

Jaap Stam - Quick, strong and good in the air. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

I'd pick from these for two centre backs. I wouldn't be able to choose if they didn't have different conditions/morales

As mentioned earlier, Cannavaro and Baresi are excellent, but I find they are better at right-back because of their vertically challenged handicap! I'd still use them in a back three though.

Gamarra and Ayala of Paraguay are both excellent defenders and free transfers in addition.

This has always puzzled me, cause he is pretty pacey for his size IRL. When he was at Man Utd he could out-run Anelka which is no easy task. I think he should be faster in the game

Gentile is good addition,Not much gets past him.Then theres always Franco Baresi.I find it hard to leave Cannavaro or Nesta out of my side ,even if they are deepest blue

i play 4 3 3 with 2 ST: ferdinand and nesta
cannavaro is one of my MD even if he is ST in the game cannavaro is great when he plays MD.just try.

cannavaro is great playing as DMF because he is fast and good in defence.
he can also strengthen the defence when the opponent has the ball

Whoever said stam isn't quick, obviously hasn't seen him much, i've seen him quite a bit for lazio this season and he is VERY fast for a big man.

You've misunderstood. Our point was that Stam IS quick IRL, but not in the game and that he should be quiker in the game. Even your 80 speed stat is low, I think it's probably about the 90 mark.

nesta is the best in the game over all

stam is his best partner 4 his height...he mite not be the quickest but he comes up wid amazin tackles and great headers....nesta is jus tthe best in the world

diatti i think senegal he just seems to be good also gamarra for paraguy. but yes cannavaro and nesta are the best along with hyypia and henchoz.

never buy frank lebouf, he just leaves big gaps in the defence which causes the opposition to score goals.

I p[lay with a back three and my main CBT is Lucio (Luciano - original name). I find him as solid as they come. Cannavaro plays next to him along with a trained player, but if I didn't have him it'd probably be Nesta.

So I think Lucio, Cannavaro and Nesta are the best CBs in the game. Perhaps Cannavaro and Nesta play well together cause of this hidden stat thing? They've always been pretty solid for Italy espec. France '98.

I've always thought the best defensive players (including keepers) are current players and the best attacking players are classics...

I think the Italian duo have better stats all round and make better interceptions while the English two let a lot pass them by sometimes.

try playing this massive guy from urugauy subs called morales as a CB. he's 197cm but hes a centre forward. no one can touch him for headers and hes surprsingly good at tackling

Some of u may think that im crazy but for my appinion the best centerback in the game is Maldini....if u will play with him youll see what im talking about ...he is always first for the ball ...great header and his position is amazing....
