In an interview granted to the Japanese magazine Famitsu, the producer of the Winning Eleven series, Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka indicated that there would be no online option present in Winning Eleven 8. However, he also stated that the development team have been working extremely hard on trying to include online play, and that it should not be too long before it appears in a Winning Eleven game.

Another small piece of information concerned the high-through pass (L1 + Triangle). It will now apparently have a power bar, or meter, which means the pass will also depend on the length of time you hold down the triangle button. Seabass also commented that a large amount of work was required on the AI to accomodate the on-screen referee who now appears during the game.

More Winning Eleven 8 screenshots and information should be released within the next week.

I'm not too bothered about online play as I can't get Broadband as I live in a small village! The AI is the most important thing for me. Cheers for the info btw

No online play, no great surprise. Doesnt bother me really, im not sure i can get broadband where i'm moving to. Its not the be all and end all of a game anyway. However, great news about the new powerbar on the high through-ball, as it infuriates me that the ball often falls short of where i want it to go.

PS. Classic D is a bit of a legend (he was a regular poster on EVo-Web i believe?). The 'KCETs Finest' site that he ran was very good.

I don't care about online play as I have no adapter, but the :L1: + :triangle: info is awesome.

yeah i hated it when defenders could header away my high through ball passes, and when i had a fast player e.g 'Martins' who i could knock the ball on miles ahead of him and the defender and he would be in on goal.
what a clinical addition this is.

They might sort out online play by the time PES4 is released. It's a long shot, but it's a good 2-3 months between releases. At the very least they should have an online option for new teams, hairstyles etc to be downloaded.

Yeah now Players like Pirlo will be more useful
I hated it when you had a player running over but you couldn't get the power you wanted so a Defender always header the ball away
The players that are good at it will make it dip quicker so I very happy about this new addition

Wasn't really expecting the online play yet anyway....

the new through pass format should be most welcomed.... another dimension into this fine game..... maybe they should do it to the normal through pass too.... maybe......

They wont have that long between WE8 and PES4. You have to take into account the time needed to produce and ship the game. You'll probably find that WE8 has been finished already.

I'd like the option of a power bar for ground through passes too.
Or maybe make it simpler to do the manual passes.
How about: move the player into position with the left stick, aim the pass with the right stick and add power by holding down triangle?
Could work.

Actually a normal person would need 2 thumbs and an index finger to do that.. :p .That is 2 hands(=thumbs) and an index finger! LOL :D

Yeah FIFA did do something very much like that, it wasn't too bad actually, once you got the hang of it it becomes really handy for splitting the oppositions defence, worked really well in 2 player as you could make a run in one direction, shout things like "run you donkey" & "get to the byline" and your mate will think you are gonna try to out sprint him down the line and will concentrate on your player with the ball then you position the other player and make a monkey of your pal with one slide rule pass that leaves his defence in pieces !

Although having said that, it was FIFA, so after a couple of days ( once the online novelty wore off ) I took it back to the shop !!

Bummer that WE8 isn't going to have online play, WE/PES online - does it get any better that that ?!

I don't know what the word is for Europe, but in the USA Winning Eleven International 8 will apparently be online, for XBOX users only, through XBOX Live. Gotta love how us PS2 users have supported the series ever since it was distributed out here, and then we get completely burned by Konami with the online play.

And I agree, a power meter for the L1 through-pass will be the bomb! Watch out goals... here I come!

I was wondering and I would appreciate if anyone can answer my question. I live in the USA, and I want to purchuse Pro Evolution 4 for the XBox which is being released on November 15th in Europe. I was just curious, first can I purchase the european version PES4 i'm referring and if so can I go online in November. Thanks you.

Well oddly enough, I'm pretty sure I actually read here on PESInsight. Here's the link to Konami's official annoucement about it: http://uk.konami-europe.com/news.do?idNews=34

It also seems I misinterpreted the release; online support for XBOX will be in Europe. I would assume US support will follow though when WE8 is released here - whenever that is.

As for playing it online here in the US: I'm pretty sure you will have to have a "modded" console in order to play a game coded for a region other than your own (read "import"). That's how it is with PS2, and I'm guessing the XBOX works the same way since it's also a DVD based system. Concerning the online side, I have no idea. Technically it is possible, but Microsoft might have a regional restriction in place on who can connect for that (or any) game. I've never used the service, so I have no idea how it works. It seems like a dumb idea to limit connections like that though, IMHO.

Hope this info helps.

I was just wonering so I can't buy PES4 from UK and use it for my XBOX in USA. I just want to know if I can get it in November instead of April 2005 under the title W8i.
