Hey I have a question: ok being American and and new to football, can someone explain how the real Champions league works? Like how do teams qualify and what is the format? Thanks!

well, for a start, there is only one champions league.

the champions league is a tournament, similar to the world cup, but palyed over many more games. to decide which 32 teams will play in the 1st group stages, the top teams from every league in europe either automatically qualify, or play in a set of playoff games (it depends how good the reuptation of the country is to decide which teams auto qualify and which have to qualify). once the 32 teams are decide, they are placed into groups a- h, and they play each other twice (totalling six games). the top 2 teams from these groups then go onto phase 2.

now phase 2 is different this year to what it will be next.... so ill explain next years. in phase 2 next year it will be straight knockout style, with 2 legs for the quarter and semi-finals... and then 1 game for the final.
