I still think you are exaggerating, but if you honestly believe I am nit-picking then I'll try and improve that aspect of my posting. I am quite pedantic I admit that, but only because I enjoy perfection - also none of my comments are saying that is that, so to speak. As I said in my longish post on the previous post, all I am doing is raising issues, no matter how small or big they me be, to see what other people think of it or whether they think that needs to be improved.

Thank you for making an intelligent reply though, you don't see it that often on PES Insight from what I've witnessed. I will try and be more balanced though in the comments I make.

I'll start by saying - the tackling animations look truly fantastic, 10 times better than the current slide tackling animations where players just jump into eachother legs and get straight red cards for inocuous challenges.

Hmm, you may need to actually save target as and download the videos rather than play them. Also I think a few of those links are broken because I just tried them

You may need to get the divx codecs to play the videos as well, which can be obtained from www.divx.com.

I'm not sure why those links I posted didn't automatically become URL's - something to do with the address I would think.

If there are no working links by tomorrow, I'll upload the ones I have to my webspace for people to download. :)

From what I've read and from people's direct impressions(I'm over at evo regularly now so...) it's kinda goes like this

Pro's:
Animations are much much improved as well as ball physics and weather effects. lighting has in fact been improved as well as the grass/pitch.

Graphics are smoother and more life scale

Dribbling is better

Running with the ball is all the more realistic. it seems from the videos the ball travels in front of you more (and for those that play real football know that on the run it's just like that)

Cut scenes are very much a part of the game now. cut scenes show things off the pitch and on like never before. players being carried off by stretchers,players arguing and not getting calls etc.

Free kick is awesome from what i've read and seen. It seems like people are saying it doesn't get enough credit for how good it actually is now.

Keeper movement and animations are now 10 fold.


Cons: (how can there be any? ahahahah)

Kits selection in edit mode is apparently limited this year. there aren't many kits to choose from like in last years edit mode. but i'm not entirely convinced of that.

Until a patch comes along it's All players names in Japanese. manual editing . (only affects us english speaking fans)

Slowdown is OCCASIONAL not prevelent. places where it might occur are in the opening cut scenes to open a match and then once in awhile when you kick a corner. video # 7 from what was posted today shows what i'm talking about.

If there is a sponsor editor then i'm sure it will work in the same way as the flag/badge editor, where you can create shapes and place text where you want it. I'm sure it will be pretty easy as most shirt sponsors are just a line of text.

YESSS living proof of a sponsor creator I think we should call it! With a little practice, we should be able to start knocking out near realistic lookin sponsors. Seems you can add the shirt supplier logo too, so i guess alot of the shirt is editable. GREAT!

no need to learn japanese, just do the trial and error thing to test out every mode and options. thats what i did to figure out how to put stuff on the shirt. there is also a mark/logo maker. you can make up to two logo. like the adidas logo then the /// three stripe thingy underneath it or on top of it, something like that. :D

So let me get this straight, is there a total of 4 types of badge/emblem etc editing? A sponsor, a make, a badge and a flag? This is a huge step forward since pes3.

If your conencting via scart, make sure the socket is in the RGB one, and NOT the composite, usually TVs have 2 scart sockets. If you are using a non scart connector, you'll only get black and white anyways, cos WE8 is in NTSC and that will display in B&W if you dont have the right cable. BTW It's nothing to do with the swap magic/slide card.

Use a RGB Scart cable if you can. It detects the NTSC signal and displays it as colour..

Ok, I'll tell you what I'm using and maybe you can help me then. My tv has just one scart socket which has the scart connector from the ps2 (with the red,white and yellow cables) going to the av socket in the back of the ps2.

Then you'll need a RGB cable. It seems that's the only solution. Your scartcable doesn't detect the NTSC signal.

Yeah, either 1 of 2 things, or both. Either

1. Your tv does not support an NTSC signal and you only have a standard scart socket.
2. You are using a non RGB scart cable in which case you need to purchase one in order to get colour. (thats providing your tv supports RGB, which I think it should)

I just remembered reading in a thread that there was a bug with the spanish teams in that in only shows one team coming out of the tunnel and lining up. Has anyone else noticed this? if so, how can konami release a game with a bug this bad??

I really wouldn't call it a bug, but conventionally, the players do come out togeather. Its really minor. Many bugs created/spotted in WE8, should be rectified hopefully in PES4.

the replay music is in replay mode, you must save a goal or somthing. play it back in the replay mode and it will play the music.

A little comparison vid i made between we8 and some real footage. Basically both are a free kick scored by recoba (dannyboy's FK, hope its cool to use your footage in this!). But what amazes me is how life like and fluid the goal in we8 looks compared to the one in real life. The positions are not exactly the same, but pretty close , the first angle on both goals look identical with the keeper going pretty much the same place with the same action, shot technique and execution looks very similar as well. check it out:
