I just saw the advert for the Olympics on the BBC (before the start of the second half of Face Off). Sea Monster and Gods and stuff! Wicked Stuff! If anyone knows where we view the advert online, post a link here! Thanks.
So who is going to win the most medals?
I agree that the advert is impressive (The BBC seem to have a knack of making good adverts), unfortunately I don't know where it can be viewed online, sorry
On the medals front, USA will probably finish top, like usual.
I'm looking forward to it though, what do you think about Malachi Davis? The Californian-born 400m runner who is representing Great Britain, personally I don't think he should be allowed to run for GB

Depends if he's any good ? The only thing I remember about the last olympics was me and me mate staying up playing darts till about 4 in the morning, because we were garanteed a medal in the 200m's or something, and the guy came fourth !!
Depends if he's any good ?!
Well according to This (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_old_game/3914531.stm) article, he is the 26th fastest american 400m runner
My two main Olympic memories are Steve Redgreave's fifth gold medal in the coxless fours at Sydney, and Michael Johnson breaking the 200m World Record in the '96 Olympics
Same old order as usual...
1.)USA
2.)RUSSIA
3.)AUSTRALIA
FURTHER DOWN THE LIST.) GB
that guy wudnt be runnin forr GB if he was any good, the yanks just wudnt allow it

I'm not suer Greece will do that well. In football they had a tactic-DEFEND. But you can't exactly defend in a 100m sprint. There are no tactics its just to see who's the best athlete.

I was just curious, cause Man U has been moaning about loosing C. Ronaldo and Hienze. So I was curiuos if FIFA could or couldn't do anything about it.

hope the olympics are 100000000x times beta than the official video game. It is so crap. 100000000x worse than fifa even
that ceremony for olympics was boring
It was decent, the beginign, then went downhilllllllllllllllll....... ............
It got boring, esp when all the countries came, I fell asleep, managed them to light the torch though.
it was never decent lol i felt it lasted for ages so i didnt wanna wahch it
lol, see the guy that ran round the stadium wid the flag? passing through the ribbons, of each olympics event... atlanta 1996, sydney 2000 etc...when he fell over in the WW1 period of time, i thought it was for real lol..until she sed "WW1".
lol-when was that because i swear all that people did was run with flags?
it was after all the countries had been announced, then some dude ran round the stadium on his own, holding the olympic flag, and say every 30m (just a guess) there was a ribbon going across his pathway, each ribbon represented an olympic game...each time he broke though one that certain olympic games for that time was announced...the first bieng "athens 1886", then he got to the 1912 games which was stockholme, then the accouncer said 1916, and he fell over and all the lights went out, and the announcer said world war one.
loll that was class bit i bet , im surprised the crowd didnt start to panic as the lights went off. Damn i missed potentialy the best bit of the ceremony
The countires coming out was so boring!
After a while i just filicked over and watched something else and by the time i got back the guy was making his speech! They said it was going to be long but that was just hell. :(

Pirlo,gilardino.Some other folks cant remember.
The men's 200m Freestyle swimming final was fantastic, a great battle between Thorpe and Van Den Hoogenbrand. Van Den Hoogenbrand led for until the last 50m, then Thorpe pulled away.

Argentina's squad was quality, I watched them against Serbia and Montenegro on eurosport, they took the "peter schmiechel".
Ayala, Saviola, KilyGonzales and the alleged "key-player" Heinze, were in the squad.

Sorry if this sounds dumb or whatever but how do you qualify to play football at the olympics? Are Portugal in it cos they haven't quite got over getting beaten by Greece (:Dtwice) so they have 2 go there to prove it?? I mean what does it proove to play it at the olympics? Nothing - the World Cup does that, I just don't see the point? Surely if England became "Great Britain" then we'd have a larger selection and a better chance of winning, ie swap James for Given, and we could have Giggs:D

Last I read about it, the British FAs were not going to send a footie team in case FIFA/UEFA make the full national teams join to create a GB team too. And they want to keep their people in the number of official thingy representatives at UEFA too. More power or something like that. It's a shame. But in any case, for the Olympic footie, you can only have 3 players over the age of 23 in your squad.
i know what im gona say is sort of off-topic, but its still about the olympics... i can't help but say it.... Carly Patterson is HOT!
EDIT: In case u don't know, she plays in the american gymnastics team. yes shes HOT :D by the way, she just one a gold medal, congrats!

Take at look at the medals table, another poor display by team GB.
25th behind the likes of United Arab Emirates, Georgia and Belarus.

I normally don't bother about the Olympics, but this time I feel a strange buzz when I watch it. Maybe because I appreciate the skill involved more than I used to.
I mean, I've never watched a badminton game before, but yesterday I was nearly out of my seat watching GBR!
The table tennis is great too, I've always liked that though cos I'm not bad meself.
The hockey is class aswell...
Israel got a medal in Judo. Bronze, though. I think that the olympics are very exciting -the supreme display of sports as a social need - a substitute for violence.

Great news - I've never thought Pinsent got the respect and cedit he deserved, after all, Redgrave can't row a boat and win on his own  Now he's got his 4th hopefully he'll get his recognition
Amir Kahn for gold :)

anyone knows what did Nahla Ramadan do in weightlifting for women she's the only hope we're getting a medal, though we got 3 boxers in the 8 finalists
She failed her first two attemps and then had to try an even higher weight for her third to get in the medals and failed that too :( sorry mate
o0oGedo0o

yeah just saw that they say she was so afraid cause we failed in all the other sports, she was world champion while she's only 19 too bad we still got boxing and wrestling but i won't give them much hope
Did anyone watch the last 100m 2nd round heat? Asafa Powell proper took the piss, after 50m he basically jogged, and he still ran Greene pretty close.
The Semi's and final should be class tomorrow, i'm well looking forward to it.

Well said about Pinsent. He really lost it though, got really upset.
GB were 1-0 down in the Hockey to Germany last time I looked.
Good to see Kelly Sotherton get a medal, but Denise Lewis, real injury, not sure myself, she might call it a day soon being as there is a "replacement" so to speak.
When is the Men's Triple Jump Final, Philips Idowu could sneak a medal, think Olsen has got the Gold though.

It finished 4-1 in the Hockey, we're out now.
I only caught the Javelin in the heptathlon, Sotherton really struggled in that. Well done to her on the Bronze medal though, she was only 2 seconds away from a Silver.

Never though Womens (indoor and outdoor)volleyball could be as sexy as they are this year.I doubt anyone disagrees. :)
Did anyone see the horse-racing thing? I know its a very shite sport but Britain won silver and bronze but the winner was disqualified and Britain won Gold, Silver and Bronze (i know its confusing but there were two events) Thats quite a good medal haul.
the best event is table tennis brilliant :D

Did anyone else watch the marathon today, you gotta feel sorry for Paula Radcliffe :(
I so wanted her to win gold but she just found the weather too much.
EDIT: actually I was wrong about the weather being the factor, apparently she just had a bad day and the pressure got to her, oh well it will all make her winning the gold medal at the next olympics even more special ;)
Yeah I thought Paula would do well.
The 100m final was quality, the first four all ran under 9.9 seconds, well done to Gatlin.
Finished up sitting on the roadside...sad is that
If only one of her other GB runners had picked her up and ran with her when they went past she would have got an amazing reception for that, 80% of the crowd were Brits

i want to ask about something in boxing yesterday one of our boxers got to the semi finals, the commentator kept saying that now he guaranteed a medal at least a bronze, aren't there 4 boxers in the semi-finals? and also he got a bone fracture in his hand he won't continue so doesn't that disqualify him from being in the top 3?
For me the Olympics have become more addictive than big brother! I cant stand it when my mam keeps telling me to change channel.
Anyone see the mens gymnastics on the bars when that guy got his score increased becasue of the crowds reaction? it was unbelievable!
yeah but the judges in this olympic are total crap. they are so biased in favor of the americans it's disgusting. it also happend for the american girl, carly potter who shouldn've scored better than svetlana khrnokiva. they had an interview with Nadja Comanecci and she said the judges should really look at themselves and try to be more proffessional.

Same sorta thing happened in the boxing yesterday it was a fight between some Kazakstan (spelling) and a Russian fella and the Russian landed with a clean head shot and the judges decided not to count it for no apparent reason but it didn't matter because he was miles ahead anyway but still it's the olympics, you'd expect the judges to be the best.

I don't get how they stop seeing as they have no brakes and going at that speed as well  , I wonder if there's some poor guy that has to catch him and slow him down, it'd be like trying to stop the round-about at the park when it's going around at about 200Mph and you just get dragged round with it

anyone saw the grecko-roman wrestling today over 96 kg? we got the gold i wanted to know if we were good, cause now 1 gold 1 bronze, and we secured 2 other bronze medals at least can you believe our last medal was in 86?, also the first gold in 56 years !!! i just read we got another bronze in taekeondo
The 200m final was a farce, With the feckin' Greeks whinging about Kenteris, pathetic.

I saw it Gedo. The fight was pretty much evenly matched, and in the end the Egyptian guy was lifted in the air for a second which didn't look too good, but he came through, re-adjusted his balance and landed on his opponent. gold. he then did a back-flip-somersault thing (kinda like Martins but just one backflip).

i hope some Iraqi Players play in Europe clubs
For those of you who saw the women's 4x100 meters: Why was the US team organized in such a fashion as to have the tallest person pass the baton to the shortest? Kind of a rhetorical question as no one but the athletes or coaches themselves know the answer to that one. It was a fuck-up waiting to happen.
The 200m final was a farce, With the feckin' Greeks whinging about Kenteris, pathetic.
I am a "feckin' Greek" and the whinging about Kenteris was pathetic indeed, since the athlete was obviously caught on foul play even because he avoided testing. Thats a fact. The other fact that you dont seem to understand is that we "feckin' Greeks" are fed up with all the controversy about not being able to host the Olympics but nevertheless we did it and in a marvellous way. So,I believe the crowd protested the scandalous help the americans got in all olympics sport (see the gymnastics for instance,or the basket ball team decision to avoid tests) by the judges.
Yours, a PES4 hopefull champion and feckin' greek
Well played to Holmes on getting the middle distance double and also to the relay team even if they did have to rely on the Yanks getting a bad changeover.

Thats part of the race the changeover, don't be so typically British and negative. Come on Amir Kahn.
phew glad to see the back of the olympics althought there was some real good moments i.e. mens relay where great britan won gold. And amir khan showing his class plus Kelly Holmes winning gold medals
