View Full Version : Who's The Best Keeper In The World?
Who do you think is the best keeper in the world at the minute?
Who is the best keeper of all time?
I think that the best keeper in the premiership is Shay Given

In the premiership, Antti Niemi.

Best at the mo': Brad Friedel
Best of all time: Schmiechel or Banks probably

Probably Buffon, he's commanding at the back as well as being an excellent stopper (I think I remember a good save from a header in the cl final).
Niemi is excellent in the prem., hope Tim Howard'll be the best by the end of next season, although we had high expectations of Ricardo as well!

Lol Sherlock. Perhaps a little biased on the Schmeichel front, but then again in his prime he was mint, always came through when it counted and the pressure was on, a mark of a truly great keeper

Yeah well you would wouldn't ya being a Geordie!
Carlo Cudicini is by far the best keeper in the prem.
its got nothing to do with me being a geordie it's a fact

What kind of fact is it?
Basis for the fact?
Newcastle have never had the best defence record in the league as far as I can remember.
This is what would contribute to a fact.
Given isn't worth very much today.
I think Cudicini too.
Dave Beasant for all three. (he's still playing aswell at the age of 43)

Man Utd's defensive record was actually best last season...
the best keeper in the world is gigi buffon as he demonstrated in the champs league last season with a good penalty save in the semis V figo.
I went onto PES2 Stats and choose some keepers and the website gave the overall average of the keepers and Given came put top just above Toldo by .36 i think this helps decide whos the best keeper.
Given Ireland 71.72
Toldo Italy 71.36
Van Der Sar Netherlands 71.12
Kahn Germany 70.8
Dudek Poland 69.48
Buffon Italy 69.2
Barthez France 68.88
Canizares Spain 67.64

Those are stats. What about results and actual saves? Utd had the best DF record last season. But for me Niemi stood out. Utd beat Newcastle 6-2 and 5-3, how can Shay Given be the best keeper? PES stats only update each season...

Remember, PES2 isn't always the most accurate game ever, for some of the stats. Some people are vastly under or over-rated.
I reckon Buffon aswell.

Not Bartez? Ok so he does really odd things a lot of the time but he is a good shot stopper. HE is very accurate in pes as well, for me once he went to collect a very very slow shot, almost a pass, and dived over it and it went in the net! Because of him Scotland beat France, silly man.

Lord Shrimpeh, I don't understand your last post. Are you praising him or criticising him?
First ypu said he was a good shot stopper, but then you said he made stupid mistakes. ?!?!?!

Santiago Canizares Of Valencia a very good goalkeeper missing out on the world cup through injury but he is a very highly rated goalkeeper among the best in the world You should sit and watch him if Valencia are in the Champions league nxt season as im not sure wether they are if not then just watch him in the la liga action
David Seaman is pretty good and for an old man hes wicked.

Bartez could have been a great keeper if he didn't think he was a great keeper! Reckon Howard will oust him for no1 spot.
