Thought I'd open this as everyone's still using the thread for the old competition.
Does anyone care about the UEFA cup?
Worth joining in here or start a new thread for it?
CL:
Real Madrid
Man United
Juventus
Milan

Let's hope it's not an all Italian final again; we could learn a lot from the defending, but '03's cl final didn't live up to billing as the biggest match of the year. Having said that, Juve vs. Real 2nd leg was immense, Nedved's finish especially.
I don't mean to sound bitter, but I didn't think Shevchenko was quite as good as he's cracked up to be. It seems like he's flavour of the month at the minute (not least with konami), but I thought he lacked penetration and predatory instinct, and suffered from inzaghi's offside problem a bit. And without wanting to sound completely biased, RVN was top scorer and played three matches less than the finalists (not to mention the other matches missed due to injury or young line ups). I just reckon he's a man who gets things done.

good points made.
I agree.
i think the uefa cup has become less important as the champions league has got bigger. When the CL first started it was, as the name suggests, just the champions of each country who took part. This left the other top teams from each country to compete in the uefa cup. now that the top four teams take part in the CL, the uefa cup has barely any top teams and players. The whole thing needs to be re-thought.
Real madrid will win the Champions league next year.

Have u heard they r investigating having group stages for the UEFA too. Just stupid really. They have to do something for UEFA. But they have cut down the no of teams in CL for next season anyway.
yeah i remember the days in the c/l when their was only one group stage and straight on the quarters.

come on the bianconeri! man they better win? i got their new strip yesterday! btw, real wont win!!!! in that semifnal they had a full strength team except makelele and juve played far better all game! and in finals i think penaltys are a cruel way to lose!
if man utd get a striker in the calibre of vieri, raul & peiro then man u have a v.g chance of winning.
man u need a creative player who links up well with both RVN and the midfield. Henry and hevchenko would be perfect for this role and of course Ronaldinho but of course he has gone to barca
a player like damien duff?

But you know, now we lost Chivu to AS Roma(Stupid of him, if you leave, go to a good club...) I don't really know... I hope we reach the same as last year(Maybe kick Arsenal out again :D)

Yeah I am confused, I rememberd they reacht European football the last day, but that was Uefa Cup abviously...
Then I hope Van the Man and his team will win...
(Why do you call him Van the Man? You know what Van means? It's just something you put before the real name... Like you say Gouverner FROM New York, we made from that a last name, and you are gonna call somebody by the From...)

Well what does Van mean in English?
Homer J.

It means Nothing! It's just a standard word standing before the real name... Some more examples:
Edwin VAN DER Sar
Frank DE Boer
VAN Bronckhorst
VAN DER Vaart

In Spain they have De La Pena and in other country's you have that to...
This comes from when they where first made up. Like that guy is landowner in Nistelrooij, so we call him VAN Nistelrooij, that guy is a farmer, so we call him DE boer(boer means farmer)
That's the way it works in Holland...

I thought that VAN meant "the" and DE means "of"? So like DE Boer would "of farmers"?
