Hi, just a tip with beckham free kicks (u may already know it but....) if u are close and in shooting range instead of aiming with just tap aim to opposite corner to goalie and just TAP O. its comedy and usually they are accurate.

Does-any-body-find-that-the-free-kicks-that-David-Beckham-R-Carlos-take-seem-to-be-much-harder-to-get-accurate-on-goal?It-either-goes-flying-other-or-hits-the-wall-can-anybody-give-me-any-good-techniques????

To get them over the wall, try holding the down direction while building shot power. But these will be slower moving.
To get them round, use curl which is the appropriate left/right direction while building power.
Have you tried practicing on the training ground?

reading-text-like-this-makes-me-sound-quite-retarded.
That's just the way I sounded at the time. No offence to anyone.

I find taking free kicks with Beckham is a dream. Valeron is also pretty good. (Scored 2 in one game against me! quite annoying).
Has anyone noticed that Roberto Carlos always seems to get his shots on target? Bloody nuisance!

I use Zidane a lot while playing with Madrid, I scored 2 in one game once (1 from 19 meters, and 1 from 31 meters), Figo isn't bad either for the short distance free kick...
and as for Roberto Carlos, when I kick with him, the goalkeeper has to show me what he got, if you know what I mean... :)

I have never really had any trouble when taking free kicks with Beckham, but I have just recently started pressing X just as the ball has cleared the wall to make it dip. This really does work well for me and I score a lot more with this.
Wouldn't it be cool if you could slot one under the wall when they jump up? Just wait a few extra nano-seconds and twat one underneath the unsuspecting defenders feet! It does happen in real life.
Try the X business and see if it works for you!:D

It's a lot of fun taking free kicks with David "The King" Backham. I just aim at the direction of the wall, press forward, and tape the Shoot Button a little bit after the middle.
Rivaldo Is great for close range. 16-20 M' with him Is great. You just aim at the wall direction, press back, and tap the shoot button to the middle.
R. Carlos Is ok, but he shoot's very strong, so most of the time the ball goes out.
i've got real problems taking freekicks with becks aswell. i haven't ever scored a freekick with him but scored loads with other players. they all seem to hit the wall!
my favourite freekickers are zidane who is just so damn accurate! rivaldo, xavi, recoba, ashley cole (surprisingly good!) and the dude that is chilavert!!! i think i prefer taking freekicks with left-footers aswell, seem to have more success rate

when i use roberto carlos for freekicks it is really annoying when he does that weird run up. I know he does it in real life, but not for the length of the whole pitch. It is kinda distracting!

I have scored a few free kicks under the wall and a couple through the wall.
If anyone wants to see, if they have an X-Port, I can email the goals.
It takes a lot of practice on the training pitch.

its so easy to score free kicks especially with BECKHAM, basically what you want to do is make sure you are inline with the T.V so its facing straight infront (not at an angle) then look at the ball to see if it is inline with the gap in between the players. move the direction buttons of course to position the ball. the best place to put the ball is in between the shortest players at the end of the wall. once you are happy and think the ball is inline just press the square [] button dont press any directions. you will definetley score some goals most of them will be on target it all depends on how long u press [] the sqaure button. try it

I've scored quite a few through the wall. Haven't managed to drill one underneath the jump of the wall though. :(
I consider myself quite a set-piece specialist, I use the analogue stick for free-kicks, and I don't resort to all of this circle business. Just experiment with varied direction/power combinations, and you'll get there. :D
I got a real sense of pride when I scored two free-kicks with Miranda in one game. ;)

If anyone has WE6:FE, go to the Training mode and then Tutorial.
Choose Free Kick Shoot (7th down then 3rd down) and it shows you how to take free kicks differently than before.
I will try to describe what it shows.
Medium range free kick:
Use any directions, and shoot with Square.
Long range free kick:
Hold Up, plus hold R1 and shoot with Square.
Short range free kick:
Hold down, plus hold R2 and shoot with Square.
I do believe that you can use left and right to curl as you wish.
The tutorials also shows other cool stuff like how to defend free kicks and more.
But it seems to be missing a bit, such as R2 crosses.
This could be useful to that fella who wanted to create a guide to all the moves in the game.
Does anyone know why the training pitch in WE6:FE is that nasty brown colour?
Looks like old farmer Giles let his cows loose overnight and they've been trampling all over it.

The quote hit the nail on the head!
For close free kicks (say anything up to 23m) do the following:
Aim the direction so that it is directly into the corner opposite to that of where the keeper is. (Very near the post)
Push right analogue )R3) forward and hold.
Then hold Square to approx. half way but not over.
Celebrate goal or take corner provided.
For long free kicks (up to approx 31m) do the following:
:D Aim the direction so that it is directly into the corner opposite to that of where the keeper is. (Very near the post)
:D Push left analogue (L3) forward and hold.
:D Then hold Square to approx. half way but not over.
:D Celebrate goal or take corner provided.
For even further out use the same as above but make sure power bar is increased over the half way mark. It rarely goes in but the keeper becomes terrified at the pace of the shot and will tip it wide or over. Almost a guaranteed free corner.
I do the last one because it is hard to score by chipping a ball into the box expecting someone to head it in.

Are you you mean the "right analogue )R3"?
Or left one again?
Sorry mate.
For close free-kicks push R3
For far out free-kicks use L3
Hope this clears it. Let me know how you get on......:) :)

I will check them out but never heard of R3 doing anything before.
Which setting do you have the left stick set for?

L3 makes a pacey bullet type shot
R3 does a less powerful but more chiped which helps get it over the wall but under the bar.
At about 25m I would tend not to use any analogue stick and just get the power bar at just below half way

I have never changed any hand control setting the game so it will just be as the original default. I'll double check and let you know mate.
R3 definately does things. When you hold it down instead of forward it does something different like a dink chip over the wall or something (can't really remember).
Beckham 19-21 yards
Scholes 22-28
Beckham 29-32
that iz the best

I have. Dunno how but just tried. Wall was on the right and I aimed at the left edge of the wall (in line with the left stick). Pushed up/forward and hit it about a third. Somehow it took the keeper by surprise and he got fingers to it but went in. Really didn't expect it and guess I'll never do it again (even though I have tried.... a lot!)

Sorry, forgot to mention that I also aimed in between the legs of the far left defender when lining up.

for free kicks 35-40m try using any good free kick taker and hold r2 and hold 0 until it reaches about 3/4 length of the bar and no more. ive scored loads this way. left side of pitch= left footed player and for the right vice versa.

So what does R2 do then?
Zygalski
09-06-2003, 13:44
I think it makes the shot go higher (to beat the wall) but slightly slower.
R1 makes it go faster and lower.
