I downloaded some mpeg files the other day and decided I wanted to make a DVD out of them so I bought 5 DVD-Rs (fuck me they're expensive) and went to write the files onto the DVD-R but I can't.

I've got Ahead Nero but it only has an option to burn VCDs or SVCDs even though it says on the user guide that you can create DVDs, has anyone got any idea how I can make these DVDs, what software do I need, pleeeeaase help :(

I think you need to be a member to use that site, the thought was there though, thanks :D

EDIT: Oh bugger!

It's a CD-RW and a DVD player I have on my CPU not a DVD-RW, I'm guessing this is the reason why I can't create DVDs

I feel a right prat, especially for paying £10 for five DVD-Rs that are now useless to me :o

Okay, new problem that I need help on got a DVD-RW about a month ago, proper decent one too, philips double layer something or other, but it doesn't recognise DVD-R discs when I put them in and after hours of transcoding files it just say's 'please insert empty disc' even though I clearly have. Is there anyone that can help me with this problem? Do i need some more hardware to connect it properly or maybe software so that it can recognise the discs?

BTW it can burn CD-R just not DVD-R

Thanks guys will check those suggestions out ;)

EDIT: Okay checked out suggestions, that software you suggested ryan is pretty nifty and will come in handy but it didn't solve the problem. Think Stonemans got it right though, it say's on the box DVD+R/RW and I thought I'd be clever and buy the cheapy 50 DVD-R for £15 :o . What bugs me about this though is that I bought the discs with the rewriter at PC world, a place where the people that work there are supposed to know about simple computer stuff like this yet he didn't bother telling me that the discs I brought were the wrong ones, I think this entitles me to have a rant in their face and get money back or repaced with proper discs.

Thanks for help :D
