Has anyone bought one of these magnifiers? There is a Google generated ad at the top of the forums on the first page advertising a device that you attach to your tv that projects the image onto a wall or screen and enlarges the image to up to 175"!! And it costs.....$18!! There must be a catch as the pictures look amazingly crisp etc! If this works then I want one but I just wanna hear from anyone that has bought one.

It sounds like a con, but you never know!

To be honest, $18 sounds about right. The device itself isn't actually doing much, other than acting as a magnifying glass.

Now, if I tried to sell you a magnifying glass for $18, it wouldn't strike you as a bargain, would it?

And if someone was trying to con you, they'd price it more than $18. Especially considering you said the pictures look good. I'd say it's all legitimate, personally.

I ordered one of these magnifiers from ebay (or something very similar to it). They didn't cash the cheque and they didn't send me anything. Weird.

Maybe the cheque got lost in the post?

I think I might order a big magnifying glass, it'd be a cheaper (and hopefully similarly effective) version of having an OHP projecting PES onto a wall (which is simply superb, by the way).

Has anyone played using a projector? Is it any good? I suppose it depends on the projector you buy but it would be cool to be able to watch DVD's and play PES4 on a huge white wall eh?!

No, but I watch DVD's and play PES on my 42" LCD Flat screen TV, which is hung on my celing!!!!!!!!

You lucky bugger! I have to make do with a Sony 29" Trinitron. I'd love a plasma/LCD tv but they are still too expensive and my missus would throw a fit (no offence to any epileptics in here!) if I came home with a tv for £2000.

er..........it was more like £2999

I was talking about a 42" Plasma TV. Over here they cost roughly that much.

Hey, the magnifier just arrived! The lens is slightly smaller than A4 size and we're going to try to assemble it today. Will let you know if it works or if it was just a scam.

OK, let's see. The instructions are quite weird. They require the use of a TV so that the image is magnified. Problem is the the image will be inverted when it is enlarged. So you have to put your TV upside down OR open your TV and reconnect 4 wires so that the TV itself displays the image upside down and right-to-left inverted so that the magnifier corrects it when enlarging. Sounds a bit of a hassle. Worth buying a new small TV for?
