just got back from reading festival. did anyone here go? i was in camp field B12 which was right at the back of the site but was the only one which didn't turn into a swamp over the course of the weekend.
Best bands were The Libertines, Jurassic 5, The streets and The White Stripes. The Rasmus got 'bottled off' after 1 song, as did 50 Cent. Dirty Sanchez were quite cool on the comedy stage. On eof the guys hit himself in the thigh with a mallet untill it started bleeding  .

Overall, top weekend, not as good as glastonbury though, wrecked 24/7, good music.

Excellent, the rasmus and 50 cent are unadulterated crap.

I got back earlier today myself, I was in G7 - which was a swamp from Thursday onwards. The Yellow camps were by a long way the best sites, I saw a couple of blokes trolley jousting there last night. :D

Personally, I gained respect for 50 Cent that night. He stayed on stage, and kept playing, and didn't care about the bottling. He just got on with it, it was security who brought him off stage. I don't see why people who don't want to watch someone bother to turn up at all - go and watch/listen to a different act, and return later. Me and my mates were very close to starting a riot at the 50 Cent act - I was seriously pissed off.

I'd say Jurassic 5 were by a long way the best act of the weekend. The Roots were good, Mike Skinner didn't seem very interested for The Streets - but they were good nonetheless - and Rahzel & Mike Pattern (who finished off the dance tent) were simply superb. Good weekend, definitely. :D

It's always been that way, the bands always like Leeds better.

at leeds it doesn't matter who you are... everyones the best of mates, you can talk 2 anyone its way cool I've never experienced that kind of atmosphere before, the people on the stalls were saying how the atmosphere at reading is quite violent and destructive...is that true?

I've never been to Reading but the Leeds one almost got cancelled because of the riots two years ago, they only managed to keep it going last year by moving it to Braham Park. If anything I would have thought Leeds was more prone to violence and things because it's the less commercial of the two, all the TV cameras and media coverage focus on Reading with it being down south.

I went to Leeds last year and saw a riot or two, but it's ususally people united in rebelling so it's a good atmosphere like you say. :D

the only reason there were riots this year is cos people wanted to burn stuff and security didn't want them to! Security came off as the bad guys cos no one was really doing anything wrong then everyone started getting rowdy when they showed up along with the riot police

The general atmosphere at Reading is friendly, but the sheer number of people there would dictate you'll get tossers and troublemakers as well.

On the last night, there was a lingering of violence - people setting things on fire, trying to kick in people's tents, and subsequently getting themselves kicked-the-fuck in by oneself.

Simple, really.

I went to Reading 2001 and 2002 but the last 2 year's line ups have been utter shite as far as I'm concerned, nowhere near enough bands I wanna see to make me fork out for a ticket.
