yea.. well, i have like 4000 in the bank, and it is just collecting dust.. and it is very plausable that chelsea can beat Arsenal in APRIL, so you see where i am coming form?

I Bet Febuary because its my Birthday Month and they are Playing Manchester United who i reckon will scrae a 1-0 victory over them

I bet before January they would have lost.

Right now they're on excellent form but don;t take it for granted that they always win, that's the last thing you should do. Now they look like they'll go a long way but just one badly-played game would end everything.

The thing with Arsenal is that they have such strength in depth, that even if they have key players injured they will always have someone to cover for them, the way Arsenal are playing i can't see them being beaten and may could have consecutive season unbeaten runs

nifty
17-09-2004, 15:03
I rekon arsenal can still b unbeaten this season, when they have had injuries they've always had player which cover for them and no loss of compassion for that postion. the only player i guess which is not arsenal material is cygan. he cannot be counted on to fill sol cambells postion

Figо10
17-09-2004, 17:28
Cygan, I guess, will prove hos worth eventually like Edu has, but it doesn't seem anytime soon.

Arsenla are sure to be beaten this season, last season was just a lucky one, especially van Nistelrooy's last minute penalty miss at Old Trafford which would have erase all thoughts about an unbeaten season for Arsenal after they have gotten a loss in just their 6th game.

a whole season unbeaten can be put down 2 being 'a luckyone'!??? van nistelrooy missed his penalty, bg deal, the reason he missed it could actually have been by Lehmann psyching him out, as he saved his penalty in the community shield and van nistelrooy wasnt hitting his pens as gud as usual at that time so the fact of van nistelrooy missing a penalty against arsenal hardly means that Arsenal had a lucky season..manure were lucky in that game when van nostrilboy attempted a knee drop on vieiras neck, from which vieira kicked out at him and got a red! shame it didnt affect us though, it actually improve dus by making us more hungry 4 success :D
Also on Cygan, he has improved leaps and bounds recently, and he will never be a Sol Campbell, but then what team has a player of that calibre in there team?

Figо10
17-09-2004, 18:21
Vieira red card, plus 5 other players banned for up to 5 games and fined, deserve it though with that kind of behaviour after the penalty miss.

And Ferguson... asking for points reduction for Arsenal, I really don't see the point when they can just use their extra points to redeem a defeat at Wolves.

I'll go for November as it's my birthday month :D though I can see them getting beaten in the Champions League quite easily very soon. I am by the way aware that this bet is for the premiership only ;)

Crap odds I know.... How were they worked out?

It's probably to do with fixtures, we have Spurs and Liverpool away in November. United in Oct, could be why it's the favourite.

when they face a full and healthy United squad, I don't think Chelsea or any of the other teams will be able to do it yet

-=[101st]=-
18-09-2004, 06:46
that is a big call, mourinho already shows signs of being able to pull chelsea together, and has brought in classy players.. so i think that they will do it at stamford bridge..

Chelsea is doing very well now even with so many new players from everywhere, I'm not surprised if they beat Arsenal again at Highbury as well.

The have changed their play to a more attacking style as well, as they demostrated against PSG in France.

We havent played anywhere near our top level in the past 2 matches but Sol Campbell should be back by the next game (away 2 man city) which will give the team a huge boost, we conceded 2 sloppy goals from set pieces 2day which isnt good enough by our defence when we have the likes of Vieira,Gilberto & Toure defending them..but with Sol coming back that will be sorted out, i can see us going several more games unbeaten but will probably end within the next 2 months IMO but i have a feeling it will be at the hands of a team that not many ppl will expect.

October i reckon when they play MAnchester united!

nope, no chance of it being that 1 :D it will be a game in october or november against a decent mid-table side team on a rainy, blustery day..a bit like 2day's weather..4 some bizarre reason i think it wil be at Highbury aswell.

Figо10
18-09-2004, 15:51
Manchester United are surely in with a chance of defeating the reigning champions.

It would take a lot for a normal side to beat them, probably suspensions, injuries, bad form, torrid weather, or team unrest to beat the gunners.

Man Utd might well get a draw with Arsenal come the match.

i can just see it being 1 of the games at Highbury, Charlton, Villa or maybe even So'ton  who end the run. At the end of the day it has 2 flip sides this unbeaten run, we obviously want 2 extend it as far as possible but i can see it being a blessing in disguise when we do lose as we can just concentrate on retaining the title then without so much attention on each match on whether we will extend our unbeaten run.
At the end of the day we could extend the run 2 65 games and be behind Chelsea as we may have drawn too many rather than have just gone from it from kick-off, but Arsene Wenger is a fantastic tactician so its unlikely hed let that happen.
I really can't see Manure beating Arsenal next month, i know anything can happen and the line-ups could be anything with injuries, suspensions etc but we know how much Man u will want 2 beat us and what they will go to,to get the win but we will know how 2 combat that and with Reyes and Henry hopefully leading the line i think it will b 2 much 4 the man u backline 2 handle if they r anywhere near top form, with Rio Ferdinand or not!

if i rember last season arsenal were winning with ease but when they faced man utd in the fa cup they lost :D , when they played man utd home and away they drew. Plus man utd had no RVN in the fa cup match. so i reckon either man utd or a team like middlesborough could defeat them :D

Figо10
18-09-2004, 16:07
I agree with you that right now Arsene is trying to protect his unbeaten run for as long as possible, until it eventually ends months later.

I get a feeling his tactics would rather let Arsenal draw 2 games rather than win 1 lose 1, even though that would be one more point.

He just wants to maintain his run so much :)

Ultimately credit goes to him for managing the team so well, although a fantastic team is also needed.

yeh and in the fa cup Arsenal really showed how much they wanted 2 win with the team they named  i can also remeber silvestre handling twice in the area and terrible fouls on reyes and vieira go unpunished but there u go, things never change...but that has nothing 2 do with the unbeaten run, this is just about the Premiership yeh, we drew both league matches last year so if thats repeated we would be undefeated against man u like i predict we will.
btw manures best bet is 2 not play ruud van nistelrooy as his record of goals scored & being on the winning side against Arsenal is absolutely abysmal :D

nah u where lucky last season after Ruud hitting the bar, and remember Arsenal did not beat man utd last season, only once this season in the charity shield but thats not competitive and Utd had injurys ;)

Scarface
27-09-2004, 16:21
Yes, Arsenal were very lucky that the referee was conned by Diego Forlan's dive and awarded a penalty in the 93rd minute, aswell as having our captain sent off for retaliating when a certain Ruud van Nistelrooy tried to perform a move he watched the night before on wwe wrestling, i think it's called a knee drop, but he tried to go a step further and perform it on his neck! I just wish Arsenal would have that kind of luck in every game! ;) As far as the charity (community) shield not being competitive yeah it looked that way last year! A match between Arsenal and ManUre is always competitive and we had injuries aswell so thats no excuse.

Giggsy11
27-09-2004, 17:59
grrrrr.... ;)

Viera tried to kick Ruud = sending off, regardless of what ruud did, still tho m8 what if ruud had scored that, would have changed everthing again i shall point out that last season we BEAT arsenal but yet arsenal did not beat us, this was in your un-beaten season :)

Scarface
27-09-2004, 18:12
yeh and ill admit on the day you deserved that win, despite scholes being a dirty bastard and crippling Reyes  you needed that win and played your hearts out to get it so fair play to you, but no English team will ever go through the season unbeaten in every single competition, not even Arsenal ;) so the domestic cups obviously don't count as part of the unbeaten run..if we hadn't been playing Chelsea a few days later that match could of been a whole different story :( But anyway thats all if's and but's, i couldn't of wanted much more from Arsenal's season last year...oh, and we would have beaten manure at Highbury had it been for we didn't need those extra 2 pts, we were in cruise control :D ;) I just don't accept people saying Arsenal were lucky in certain matches last year and to go the whole season undefeated, we were awesome that year and if van nistelrooy had of put that penalty away we would have been extremely hard done by, considering how well we battled throughout without key players and after suffering a big loss to Inter Milan.

p.s no chance at OT ;) Best result for ManUre 2-2 PROBABLE result 3-1 Arsenal :D ;)

Kewell[AUS]
28-09-2004, 05:58
ruud was judged harshly that game, i dont think he did anything wrong and its amazing how he restrained himself when keown is jumping all over him after the final whistle, i dont know how you couldn't lash out.

I still remember that inter arsenal match at highbury 3 - 0, i have very fond memories of juilio Cruz scoring and Andy Van der meyde's Volley - vieri wasn't even playing aswell. The return fixture tho was a tad disapointing.

28-09-2004, 06:44
Heh...Even if arsenal do get beaten...they still look strong this time. I think Viera needs to get better quickly though...otherwise Cesc should play!! Did MUCH better when they had him as playmaker (a youngish Zidane)...

All teams get good and bad breaks...and I must admit...keown and co went over the top that day with ManU...

Vieira is playing extremely well at the moment, he was dominating in the middle against Man City and is back near to his sublime best. Gilberto Silva is out for the next month at least so Fabregas will be competing with Edu and Flamini for the midfield spot to partner PV4.

Arsenals Run will end when they actually believe they are unbeatable. They still work hard for one another and believe every game is a slip up. The game they will lose is the one they believe is too easy and they can't lose. As for the fighting, its good that players show the passion and want to win. A bit of a scrap between mates happens all teh time, just become stronger for it.

This time last year, and a certain missed pen at old trafford! Arsenal were labelled a disgrace for fighting then (granted not against each other but stiill!) and here we are 30 + games later and they are still undefeated.

They will lose, and it will be a shame for us neutrals (the fans of teams who are not in the Prem!) as we are witnessing one of the greatest footballing sides, and incredible undefeated streaks this country has ever experienced!
