I have a gut feeling that fans of PES and WE should keep their eyes open for this title. Codemasters usually make AWSOME games. The concept for this game is great - everthough LAZIO isn't among the teams available
I have read somewhere (gamespot i think) that Codemaster has used almost the same controls as Konami but has as great a presentation as the FIFA games. Not a bad mix at all huh?
Does any of you guys know more about it?
Do you think it will give Konami a go at the throne of all football games???
If any of you find some footage of the game, then please post it here, so I can see it with my own eyes. Try have a go at www.codemasters.com and then click the Club Football icon.
I have to say that this title looks huge!

isn't it like 15 seperate games, 1 for each club team?

I believe that you can play as any team in any version but the one for 'your' club has more depth of pics and other info about that club. History and stuff like that.

What I gathered so far is that if you have say, Barcelona, then i the two main game modes (season and european cup) you can only play as Barca. Furthermore - everything that has anything to do with Barca - is included in that particulary version of the game. That mean total up-to-date roster with players looking like their real counterparts, full stadium detail (including commercialbanners etc.), full history of the club and bonus stuff about the team (such as great goals etc.) that you can unlock. You'll even have a create a player function, so you can create yourself or edit exsisting players. You should also be able to create an entire team.
But it is also possible in custom mode to play with and against any team that's in the game - and there should be a lot to chose from here.
I believe that the Arsenal site gives a pretty good overall view ( http://www.codemasters.com/arsenal/uk/arsenal.php ). It almost sounds too good to be true. A footie game with all these options and it should play like PES/WE!!!

You might have read my ramblings on Club Football in the General Discussion section of the forum (here (http://forum.pesinsight.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=502 )) - it's got a lot more details on Club Football if you want to know about it.

I'm the Football Community Liaison for Codemasters (we are developing/publishing the game) so if you want any details email me at football@codemasters.com or read the thread linked above. I could copy and paste it here but that's just plain lazy.

As I said in that thread, I'm not trying to spam, we do really like PES/WE anyway and if it was up to me I'd wish that both games (Club Football and PES) were great successes to take EA's FIFA out of the market. :D

Fiore Fan - sorry that Lazio aren't there. It wasn't just about us choosing the teams, we went to the best in Europe (and yes, Lazio were among them, as were Newcastle Utd - the other notable absentee) and most said yes but some, unfortunately, said no.

We're hopeful that if this game is a success we'll release other versions of the game featuring new teams in the future.

Cheers!
:)

Why did they say no? That's quite weird... unless they have their own games in the pipeline?

I'm not sure but I'm guessing it was something to do with money. Usually is. Either that or they couldn't agree with the licensing contract - it's a pity though - as Manchester United. Real Madrid, Juventus et al could agree.

Maybe cos they have had little dealing with software companies?

rubbergenius

Maybe, but licensing's licensing.

If they can get their rights (images) on anything and everything I'm sure they would do. We're a large, progressive company, used to working with sports companies, that shouldn't have been a problem I'd hope.

My first guess would still be royalties - we couldn't reach agreement over the amount they wanted from the sale of each game.

I think it might be that they haven't had much dealings with software co.s so they ask for too much or are awkward because they have no prior experience etc

All we can do is surmise - only our licensing and Newcastle Utd commercial team will know for sure...

I've got the lastest edition of PSM2 magazine and there is a video of Club Football on the DVD. I have to say it looks pretty good. I didn't think it would be anything special when I first heard about it but it seems to be quite good. For a start the commentary is better and there are brilliant player likenesses for each player.

However, they think PES3 will be the best footy title (quite right too), followed by FIFA 2004, TIF 2004 and lastly Club Football.

No! I may rent CF though. Don't be fooled by FIFA's graphics! Yes, they are good but that's all. Gameplay is....well....CRAP!

yeah true it is. Is club football on DVD or CD? I think its DVD.

I seems a lot of people want Club Football - the audiences for the preview shows we've been doing have been superb. and they've been hooked.

We do get the usual reservations from football gamers that it'll look nice but play like a dog but then they try it and they (honestly) compare it to PES.

The video on PSM2 was good but they did say it would come fourth. I prefer Play magazine quotes ;) :

"Never before have we seen such attention to detail levied on a football title"

"So, deep breath when we say that...thankfully, the actual gameplay holds up very well. Very well indeed"

"Player AI dictates patient build-up a la Pro Evo but is varied enough for you to play the counter-attack and mirror the more flamboyant style of FIFA with turns of pace and trickery"

"The Codies have got us here and they know it - we have haven't felt like this since we first saw Pro Evo many, many moons ago"

"We're confidently making space next to Pro Evo for this one..."

"Play Prediction: Third - made by fans for fans - Top 3 for sure. Exactly where depends on the opposition"

:p

Ahem. "To implement all the major enhancements in the new title, the development team were investing additional time in the game’s creation." :D

OK - it slipped heavily.

It wasn't up to standard last year so it went to spring this year. Then we realised it was a bit daft releasing it in spring when the squad list would become redundant within weeks. So we went for October. And there we have it. It'll definitely be out in October though, promise.

Yeah, you'll be able to get Real Madrid Club Football in Belgium - we're selling the Manchester United and Real Madrid versions across the world - the others are more specific (say Arsenal version will be available in Britain and France for example).

- And Chubb, thanks for the constructive criticism. Just because it didn't excite you it doesn't mean it's a turd. Are you a FIFA2003 fan in disguise?
