Good result last night in Israel, although they were the dirtiest team i've ever seen lile!

Did'nt think my thread would take off like...Perhaps it's cos the majority of this forum know fuck all about football and just support man u cos they're good?
Shaknin were a bunch of dirty twats like, they were the same at St James aswell.
We could have got at least 8 last night, Shaknin are a piss-poor team. I hope we don't get Ferencvaros in the group stage after what happened last night, I can't remember any problems when we played them a few years ago.

well that would make sense....and you seem to have a perfect tactic to win people over by your charm..... That said its nice to Newcastle doing well , evedn if it is the honey moon period, I'm afraid that bobby had completely lost it....well good luck to ye in the Group stages Kluivert I think was perhaps one of the most astute pieces of bussiness in transfer window, even if his wage demands could run a small country.
Definitely Maybe

what do u think of boumsong and Babayaro
Boumsong - overated
Babayaro - he'll do well.
But i dont think Newcaslte will even get in the top 5. they might finish 6th if theyare lucky. But in my opinion Freddy Shephard if thats his name is a wanka. They should have kept Bobby.
There isn't enough Newcastle fans that post regularly on here to warrant an official thread.
Anywho, it was time for Bobby to move on, although souness obviously isn't the right replacement.
I'm no Newcastle fan...but Souness!!? Come on! Newcastle deserve a way better manager.
Boumsong - give it a couple of years for him to progress
Babayaro - reserve player
Babayaro will be found out soon enough, don't be fooled by his backflips and happy-go-lucky African charisma!
You've got a good song for him by the way, we had 'Baba 1, Baba 2, Baba 3, Babayaro' going all the way up to 'Baba 7, Baba 8, Baba 9, Babayaro - Hey Babayaro' to the tune of Macarena. But a) it was corny as fuck and b) he never played well enough to warrant it!
lmao! that song beats the "...you do the ameobi and you turn around..." hoke-coke themed chant.
Boumsong: i really think he will end up doing well. im praying him and titus (bramble for england! :D) will form a decent partnership, after all boumsong cant be any worse than any of the other defender that we have had (not including sick-note woodgate)
Babayaro: the two games i have seen i have been really impressed with him, i have high hopes. i do feel sorry for poor old bernard tho.
p.s. steven 'the living legend' taylor is playing fantastic this season, i say keep him permanent right back!
What do you mean there isn't enough newcastle fans!!
Hey if we can drop O'brien/ Bramble/ Elliot/ Hughes (Delete as you see fit) then it is a massive step forward!! No-one can be as bad as this collection of pap. Put them all in a sack and punch it, whoever you hit deserved it!!! Taylor is looking like he might be something.
Babayaro is a good player not exactly world class or much better than Bernard if at all. But with him spitting his dummy we needed someone.
If we can get Kaffour then we will be on the way to decent back four (when/ if Carr comes back).
Just need Micheal Owen to replace Shearer and we are good to go!!!
Just need Micheal Owen to replace Shearer and we are good to go!!!
Do you think we should keep Kluivert? There were rumours that he would be on his way this month, but I think he will leave in the Summer. He's obviously got the talent, but his attitude is shite, he doesn't look arsed half the time.
If Kluivert does go then I would rather we signed someone who's more in the Shearer mould, a target man. Owen and Bellamy would frighten defences with their pace, but it would be a rather lightweight front two.
At least it might stop us tonking the ball up the park and force us to play football.
I hope that Kluivert stays and gets his drug addled, murdering head straight.
You don't need a player like Owen when you already have Bellamy.
Newcastle should buy somebody like Yakubu, for the money you'd get him for, he would be a perfect replacement for Shearer... the bastard.
john hartson would have been a good short term buy i think. very good in the air and him and bellamy play together in the welsh set-up. also i have a sneeky feeling robert will go in the summer, i would be sad to see him leave if only for the joyous moments like the free kick against liverpool or man utd. do you think souness will get shot of him in the summer?

Hartson has already proved he can't really hack it in the Premiership, despite Sutton saying he is the best striker he has played alongside (He has also played with Shearer and Larsson, which makes his Hartson comment all the more baffling) also I don't think Celtic would have agreed to sell him, as he is top scorer in the SPL.
I also think that Robert will go, Souness clearly dislikes him. we'll probably sell him on the cheap and not buy a proper replacement, just like what happened with Nobby (Cort = £2m, Nobby = £1.5m  ). We don't have anybody else in our midfield who can provide the amount of goals and assists that Larry Roberts does, I know he is frustratingly inconsistent, but he's the best winger we've got. One possible outcome of Robert's sale could be that Ollie Bernard gets moved onto the left wing, with Baba at left-back, it could work seeing as Bernard can cross a ball, and has got a canny shot on him. I definitely don't want to see Bernard leave either, I know he is being a bitch about his contract but he is quality, and a very strong player, i've never seen him lose a 50-50.I suppose we should have expected to have problems with Robert and Bernard, they are the latest in a long line of French players we have had problems with, others that spring to mind are Ginola, Distin, Goma and Domi.
thats a good point gary g. i have a feeling a few players will leave in the summer; robert, bernard, viana, kluivert, who knows, maybe players like hughes and elliot. i havent a clue what souness is planning but if im honest i dont think we can go anywhere under him, i hope im proved wrong, tho i really do.
what does anyone think about the whole craig bellamy saga? should he go? ideally he should appologise to the manager and the fans for acting in the total wrong way (again) and get on with it. i dont think he understands that even tho he has been fined £80,000 (2weeks wages) there are people that would give thier right leg to play for newcastle in any position (obviously without a right leg i doubt they would pass a medical but u know what i mean, a figure of speech)
I don't think an apology will be enough to save his career at Newcastle, Freddie and Souness have both publically called him a liar, and Bellamy has also said he has nothing to apoligise for. I'm very disappointed by the whole saga, I am/was a big fan of Bellers, he always gave a 100% on the pitch and had improved his finishing alot since last season. I can understand Bellamy's frustrations though, unlike when Dyer refused to play on the right, Dyer is a midfielder so he should be prepared to play not just in the centre, Bellamy is a forward and that is by far his best position. I think one of the reasons why Bellamy wasn't keen on playing down the right was because of Ashley Cole, whenever Bellamy came up against him Cole has always had him in his back pocket (Wales Vs England, for instance), so that was probably one of the reasons why Bellamy wasn't happy about playing there.
One aspect of the recent events which I was very unhappy with was Bellamy reportedly feigning injury, there were surely better ways of avoiding playing out of position, he should have spoken to Souness as early as possible.
If Bellamy does go it will represent a big problem for us in the Summer, with Big Al retiring and Kluivert being shown the door it will leave us with only one striker, Ameobi, meaning we will need to sign at least two strikers, Yakubu and Keane are two names that have been suggested, I wouldn't mind them two replacing Shearer and Bellamy. aswell as strengthening the defence and midfield. I doubt we will have a large transfer kitty either, we will most probably have to sell before we buy.
So, in the Summer we could have sold/got shot/lost the services of the following players:
Big Al
Bellers
Ollie Bernard
Larry Roberts
Paddy K
Dire
Given
We won't be recuperating any money for Big Al or Paddy K, and Bellamy won't go for much either, we'll get less than a million for Bernard, we could possibly get a couple of million for Robert, we obviously won't get anywhere near the £20m that was touted for Dire not so long ago.
Given would probably cost more than any of the above, if he did put in a transfer request I would have no problems with it at all, he is a top-quality keeper and he deserves to be at a club that is going to win things, like Arsenal or ManYoo, good luck to him if he does go.
I can't see this club going anywhere when Souness is still here, he is an average maneger, and has a track-record of falling out with players (Dunn, Cole, Yorke and now Robert and Bellamy), as longas he is here then we will continue to falll into a decline. It was time for Bobby to move on but we should have pushed the boat out to try and get O'Neill or Hitzfeild.
The only possible advantage of losing the players listed above is that we will lose some of the biggest ego's at the club, and we might go back to a team that wants to play for each other and wants to do well for the club, it probably isn't going to happen but I can dream.
Our current siuation was unthinkable a few years ago, when we were a team that people actually liked, had a respectable manager and played good football, that seems so far away now.
So much for Souness improving discipline at the club

Bellamy, hey? http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0600soccer/0200news/tm_objectid=15116783&method=full&siteid=50082&headline=if-craig-gets-away--with-this--we-d-have-anarchy-name_page.html
As Badgur would say, laffo.
Apparently Bellamy has a price-tag of £7m, I can't see anyone paying that much for him, we'll be lucky to get £3m-£4m.
I doubt he'd be too pleased about going to Stoke, but I doubt any big Premiership teams will be after him.
He's had his admirers abroad as well though, Inter Milan among others I think. Although I think they've plenty of forwards there at the moment, although that philosophy never stopped them with midfielders.

Inter Milan or Stoke? tricky methinks!
Pulis has also conceded we couldn't afford his cups of tea so he's got to try and get him on-loan if at all.

Question?
Why would bellamy go liverpool look at there strikers.
I am nigerian and watch and support nigeria and i think he is all right not brilliant but not that good. I've seen him play a lot but i think we should put Asolbi (spelling) of Austria Vienna in the left back role.
But newcastle have boght an alright player.
He's had his admirers abroad as well though, Inter Milan among others I think. Although I think they've plenty of forwards there at the moment, although that philosophy never stopped them with midfielders.
Before all this shite happened there probably would have been quite a few clubs interested in Bellamy had we decided to sell him, those clubs will just see him as more trouble than he's worth now.
I'm surprised Inter were ever after him, after he got himself sent off after 6 minutes for headbutting Marco Materazzi when we played them in the Champions League.
So whats been going on with the Bellamy situation and everything at Newcastle?
Boumsong will do well and Babayaro has shown quality! Not a bad back line Carr, Boumsong, Titus(if he doesnt f*ck up) and babayaro with Butt sitting in front!

Dyer goes off and they self-destruct. Who else saw that coming?
Such a shame though. Why can't english teams hang on?!
OK, i know chelsea and liverpool did but........
It's a shame, I was hoping Newcastle won it this year, they had the squad to.
I supported them up until the camera caught Dean Saunder's boat, then my affection for any team affiliated with him suffered dramatically.
Well i'm going to shamelessly spam and quote my post in the thread in the Betting Forum
I don't know why I fucking bother, that was quite simply the worst second half I have seen from Newcastle in fucking years.
Dyer going off injured really hurt us, literally, I thought we easily the better team in the first half. Dyer should have had another couple, he really rattled Sporting, the didn't know how to cope with him. If he is injured for Sunday then we are proper fucked.
I don't know where to start with the second half, we were fucking useless, we still had chances though, if Kluivert was a bit quicker in crossing for Shearer he would have scored, and Milner wasted a good chance that Shearer would have put away.
The subs that we brought on had no impact at all, O'Brien was one of the main reasons we lost, Milner had no impact, Kluivert wasn't ready.
What the fuck was Carr doing for the last goal? Fucking hell.
O'Brien = Useless
Faye = Useless
N'Zogbia = Did fuck all
Milner = Did nowt
Kluivert = Lacks match fitness, and it showed
Fucking hell, i'm so pissed off.
Fucking bring on Sunday
lets hope they dnt perfom like that or they will concede another four goals or even more
i wanna c a good match

If he is injured for Sunday then we are proper fucked.
I thought that too, before the commentator reminded me that he's suspended anyways
I thought that too, before the commentator reminded me that he's suspended anyways
Aye, forgot about that, the commentators were going on about how he would be a great miss for Sunday and all that for about five minutes, before they finally realised he was suspended.
The match on Sunday will be a corker in my opinion. Whenever we meet there are bags of goals on show.
Match Prediction:
Manchester United 3 - 2 Newcastle United

MICHAEL OWEN has told Newcastle that he has not ruled out joining them.
The Geordies had given up on signing the England striker after he said he wanted to join a club with a real chance of Premiership and European glory.
But Real Madrid star Owen, 25, has now indicated he would consider a switch to St James’ Park and the prospect of reforming his old England partnership with Alan Shearer appeals.
A return to Anfield is still the preferred option now that a bid from Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson looks unlikely.
But the Newcastle board are prepared to meet Real’s £11million asking price and chairman Freddy Shepherd is willing to fly to Spain at a moment’s notice if he is given any more encouragement.
A Newcastle insider said: “We found the money to sign Alan Shearer and look at the return in goals he has brought us.
Would be good business for toon army, as ferguson said owen would not fit into man utd' s formation.

Mmm yes good idea time to get this thread more active I think, there are plenty Geordies around nowadays.
Team for Sunday:
Given
Carr Boumsong Bramble Babayaro
Solano Bowyer Faye N'Zogbia/Luque
Shearer Owen
People have been saying we have the best side we have had in years... But with some our best players looking injury prone (Dyer, Emre, Luque?) and only 2 fit strikers, oh and a manager who seems content with a Chelski reject and a short fatty either side of one admitadley awesome defender but another who was over priced... I fail to see how this is the case.

boumsong is a liability
Even if he is he is better than Titus Bramble. I think he will pretty good if he can get a good partnership with Steven Taylor.
Freestyle27
13-09-2005, 16:58
Only Petr Cech is better than Given in the Prem. Been our most consistant player in the last 5 years.
Boumsong just seems to lack a bit of confidence at the moment, so hopefully will be back on form soon.
And the must be something wrong with our training or physios, 3 of our Midfield out with hamstring problems.

Was glad today for Newcastle, when i was checkin ITV text i seen that Shearer had scored, always great to see a legend net another, but then againt i was just as glad to see Owen score his first, to say one more... you won 3-0. No goal scoring problems today, I like Newcastle (not their manager tho) and it was pretty sweet to see them take Blackburn down... as ive posted before on thie site, i hate their style of play, aswell as alot of their players, namely Savage, Tugay, Neil, their gaffer, not too keen on Bellamy either (never really was good player but a hot head) & of course Paul 'the wee bastard' Dickov. Well done, Toon Army!
boumsong is a liabilitynever tell your a Celtic fan like

never tell your a Celtic fan like
Spot on!
And to add to the debate, Boumsong is not a liabilty, that would be Souness, Taylor sucked once again Jonny!!!! Never a sending off, but didn't add to the game at all.
Baba had a GREAT game, happy for him. Charles N'Zogbia truly is an up and coming legend, and was man of the match with his goal-line clearance, assist for Owen, and cooly taken goal.
Titus looked alright when he came on, and Bowyer looked determined.
Anyone else at the game have a different opinion?

Steven Taylor is an absolute fucking hero. He hasn't had a great start to the season, but who has (apart from Charlie Zog)? He is obviously our best defender, and he knows what it means to wear the black n' white. And he lives less than a mile from me I think.
Bowyer was shite, majority of his passes went astray, and he was barely noticeable during the game.
Clarky had a far greater influence on the game than Bowyer, which is a bit depressing for Bowyer.
Boumsong could barely stay on his feet for more than five minutes, he certainly hasn't looked like an £8m defender this season.
Sunday was a great result, but we were crap for the first hour, the result most definitely didn't reflect how the game was played. Now we need to take a three points of Citeh at the weekend or the win against Blackburn will be worth fuck all.

His house looks smart like, think he paid £800k for it, I play for a team on Sunday's at the Links just down the road from it.
Stephan Taylor is a good defender, never forget when he handled the ball and pretended that it hit his side. did he come through the ranks or was he bought from a lower league club?

Needs to cut out some of his clumsy challenges though, he's a bit over-eager at times, has the makings of a top defender though.
Yeah but when he's a finished article, he'll be class.

£1.5m; the same as we sold him for, part of the deal meant James Milner went to Villa on a year-long loan.
Milner looks like he's doing canny at Villa aswell, just shows what he's capable of with a decent manager.
True Gary, I think he;s a good little player, just needs like a mentor or sometihng..

No-one would belive my reaction when I found out Souness was the mangager...Very violent
Another shite performance on Saturday then, the longer Sounness is in charge the less chance there is of us finishing any higher than mid-table.
You can have a great squad of players but if there's an idiot leading them then you'll struggle.
Starting with Faye alongside Parker is just showing that you are settling for a 0-0. Faye is a joke, Clark is easily the better midfielder but for some reason Sounness rates Faye. Then when you think it's impossible for Sounness to show he's more tactically inept than he currently is he brings Ameobi on when Bowyer is crocked, unbelievable, Shola is a Championship-level player at best.
The only slight positive that can be drawn from Saturday's debacle is that Emre completed another 45 minutes after his comeback for Turkey in midweek, he's sheer class, although he must be wondering what he's got himself into here, when he clearly deserves to be at a better club. There was one thing that nagged me about Emre on Saturday however, he clearly should have been on from the start, when he came on he looked sharp and was the only creative spark we had, if he had started then I believe we would have got something out of the game.
I don't know what to say about Boumsong, he is a different player to last season, now he is a calamity and certainly doesn't inspire confidence when he's on the ball. He seems to have difficulty judging long balls over the top aswell, he lets them bounce and then usually loses his footing. At £8m he seems vastly over-priced, he is the 'Old Bramble' if you will, whilst on the subject of Bramble the sooner he is back the better, he is a vastly improved player, in contrast to Boumsong.
Can anyone actually remember the last Toon performance they enjoyed watching? Don't say Blackburn either, as the result overshadowed the poor performance. For me it would probably be Olympiakos at home in the UEFA Cup last season, going back some distance there.
I also read somewhere that we have won 12 games in 42 attempts under the "leadership" of Sounness, simply not good enough.
So, the Mackems next Sunday, I would never want the Mackems to beat us but surely anything but a win will result in the sacking of Sounness, anyone remember when Gullit was ousted? After a certain 2-1 defeat against the Unwashed, deja-vu, anyone?
Magpie4eva
17-10-2005, 15:55
Yeah and the linesman were bolluks too. Well what we should do is sack Souness if we lose against the Mackems and get a care-take manager until the end of the season. If Shearer agrees we can make him player/manager or just manager.
That tackle on Emre where McCulloch got a red was life threatening. Yeah Boumsongs below his standards this season.

17-10-2005, 16:08
Shearer when he retires otherwise the next good manager left
Otmar Hitzfeld would be an ideal replacement as he is currently without club and is looking to get back into management.
I fail to see Alan Shearer's management credentials, why does everyone think he'll do a great job.
We can't afford to have a caretaker manager in charge for the rest of the season, this club needs a figure such as Hitzfeld to steer us in the right direction. It would be too much of a risk to give the job to Shearer, he has no experience.

He's a good manager, but I'd still sooner see Sir Bobby back at the helm.
I wouldn't want Shearer as manager, as he will (and has) go down as one of our best ever players, if not THE best.
If he tries to manage us and fails, he will be remembered as a failed manager, not the best player.
I am surely not alone in thinking this.

I think if Dyer plays like he did yesterday he could get into the England squad. When he came on he set up Owen's second, and looked bright on the ball.

like most magpies fans, i was overjoyed when solano came back to the club that loves him. to be honest, i wish he hadn't gone in the first place. hopefully, being an out and out right footed winger, he'll give the side a balance back. however, in the couple of games i've seen him play in so far, against sunderland and west brom (i travelled up from norfolk to see the derby, and watched yesterdays match on tv) i think he's been a bit lacklustre. i know hes been injured, and maybe i should reserve my judgement for a few more games, but he didn't seem to be giving his all. also, against west brom i don't know if souness had told him to do this or not, but he seemed to be playing very centrally, with ramage bombing up the wing as a wing back. i wasnt very impressed with ramage's crosses, and to be honest i'd prefer to see solano back out on the right wing where he belongs.
also, im really pleased with how n'zogbia has been playing. he showed real promise last season, and is showing it this season. only problem is, when dyer is fit enough to be in the starting XI, i presume he'll play in CMF, with emre moveing out to left and dislodging n'zogbia
P.S. has anyone seen dutch 17yr old keeper kruhl playing for the reserves? hes supposed to be good

Why keep Boumsong in the team? Taylor is most effective at centre-back, I would partner him with Bramble.
I disagree that Nobby has been disappointing like.
He hasn't been spectacular since his return, but has still been very effective, he is a very good passer of the ball, something we missed last term. One thing i've noticed is that he rarely gets out wide and puts crosses in, which isn't too bad if Carr is right back because it means he can bomb forward and deliver the ball into the box. I would prefer Nobby to get out wide more though, as he is arguably the best crosser of the ball we have. His touch and vision are excellent, and he's a clever player, his through ball for Owen yesterday was a perfect example of this.

Well Soey is now saying that he might play.
http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~737155,00.html
GRAEME Souness will check on Charles N'Zogbia before naming his starting line-up to face Birmingham City, after the midfielder was hit by a personal tragedy this week.
The French starlet flew home earlier in the week after the sudden death of his father, but was back training with the Magpies on Friday.
However, Souness says he will speak to the talented teenager to see if he is in the right frame of mind to play against the Blues before finalising his selection.
He told Newcastle World: "Young Charles has this week had a tragedy in the family with the sudden death of his father.
"I spoke to him last night and I spoke to him this morning. He seemed fine, but he could wake up tomorrow and not be so fine, so it's something we will have to monitor."
Steven Taylor will be a quality centre half in years to come and he needs to play there for toon, what he really needs is some experience next to him and i dont think boumsong or bramble can give that (bring back woodgate). We need a new left back and centre half in the window. Rest of the team is starting to work well. with a decent bench when everyones fit. Cant wait for luque to play up front with owen i think they would be awesome
A good result today, but the performance was very poor, we barely created anything of note.
If we play like that against Chelsea in a fortnight we'll get hammered, although even if we play at the top of our game we'll still probably get beaten easily.
Magpie4eva
06-11-2005, 10:47
Yeah but the build up to Emre's goal was classic. And the shot was brill.
Birmingham were unlucky there but argubaly they didnt deserve to win.
Newcastle have handed a trial to Danish starlet Nicki Bille Nielsen.
The teenager has made waves for BK Frem in his native land and is being tipped to make a name for himself on a bigger stage.
He has clearly caught the eye of Newcastle's network of Scandinavian scouts and has been invited to Tyneside by Magpies chief Graeme Souness.
"My agent called me on Friday and told me that I would be on trial at Newcastle from Monday to Thursday," Nielsen told Onside.dk.
Nielsen's direct attacking style could well fit the profile of player Souness is looking for.
"My agent also said that he got to know that they are missing a quick forward who can also play on the right wing.
"I assume that I will be training with the youth side and I look forward to seeing how I can cope in English football."

It's now been confirmed that the shoulder injury suffered by Steven Taylor at a recent England U21 training session will sideline the defender for 8-10 weeks.
Certainly a blow, even though we have Titus and Boum, Taylor has become a regular starter and hopefully this won't disturb his progression too much.

Yeah I heard about Taylor. 8-10 weeks. Huge blow.
Everton on Sunday lads! Anyone else going? I am going the game with the usual pesimistic attitude, 1-0 to the crap scousers I say.

Speaking of the Everton match this weekend I think that we shud win looking at Shearer, Owen and Luque returning... but Im never certain of a banker Newcastle win with Bramble and Boumsong in the cb positions :(

Jesus why couldnt we lose today. Dont get me wrong I'm happy with a point but Souness would most probably be sacked if we lost. Stupid Gareth Barry. He missed a last minute penalty. Prick
Look out on Soccer AM next week...im sending in my 'FanCam' video of Shearers penalty. The 17th.

Watching Scott Parker on MOTD now.
What a player, forgot just how good he was.
Great performance from him on the basis of what I saw.
Yeah I just watched that match and he was bloody amazing. He was so brave every challenge was going in at 100 mph and even after he had a loose tooth he was still flying in.
Possibly Newcastles best player, definetly there best midfielder I could see him getting into the England squad at this rate.

That must have been a bad collision with Lehmann, good on him, he tried to stay on and fight.

I can't. Sven choses retards like Joe Cole ahead of real talents like Scott Parker.
Joe Cole is good but i would say Gerrard should be dropped for Parker.
Gerrard doesnt play well with Lamps. Cole, Becks, Lamps Att.Mid, Parker Def. Mid

Anywho, was an excellent finish from the trumpet-playing Peruvian, showed great technique.

Another good win today, plus Owen's hitting form. It'll be a tough game at Anfield next week, but I'd give anything for Owen to score against his old club and lead us to victory. Should beat Charlton but Spurs away will be a tough one as well.
This is the first time in a while i expect us to beat one of the big four.
What does Souness see in Robbie Elliot?
In the home games ive gone to, he has been ok in defense and has played immense crosses, mainly to Shearer.

I was at the Depor Intertoto home leg, and Elliot screwed up big time there, his back-pass gifting Depor their second away goal and effectively killing off our hopes of progressing.
I don't rate him at all, we never would have had this left-back problem if we had kept Bernard, like.
Anywho, great result today, third time this season we've scored 3 or more goals on the road, although apart from those 3 games we haven't scored away from home.
Once again we tried our hardest to throw it away, a comical own-goal and an inexplicable handball from Shola, whose touch was abysmal at times today.
7 goals in 8 games now for Owen, if we create chances he will put them away, that's what you get for £17m.
Gutted about Parker being suspended for the Liverpool game, he will be a massive miss, hopefully Emre will be fit though. Hopefully Luque will be aswell, as he was an unused sub today.

your right about spurs being a tough side a moment but beleive i think newcastle will be a toughie for us aswell woulndnt like to call
i think if we had abit of big time cash i would personally try to buy wayne bridge from chelsea for a left back. he isnt getting into the side at the moment and he would be a solid performer on the left hand side for us. another player i rate is antonia lopez from athletico madrid, although im unsure how well he would cope in the english league. a player i wouldnt mind seeing come in the summer would be somone with arial ability, like morientes or robbie fowler to partner micheal owen. id love to see either of those 2 strikers in our system of football, its maybe what we need...

Bridge would be a top signing, but like you say, money is the issue. We have reportedly been restricted to loan deals this January, which isn't ideal given our current predicament.
Not sure about Fowler, like Shearer his best days are well behind him, Morientes would be unavailable I would imagine.
Nihat is a player we should be looking at, I reckon he would thrive in the Premiership.

I think if we persever with Chops...we could sign Joaquin and play Owen in the centre with Luque and Joaquin on the wings.

Chopra is shit, as is Morientes. We need a GOOD striker in January.

What are you basing that on...he is a late developer as Robson never really gave him his chance. He showed his ability in the Inter-toto and will become a good player. If we have him as a backup to Owen, we can play two wingers to supply him.
Eg.
Duff-----Drogba-----Robben
Ronaldo- Van Nist.---Rooney

Exactly, he found his level, against a bunch of European no-marks.
Chopra isn't Premiership class, and never will be, in my opinion.
At the moment we have the basis of a top team, but there are a few positions we need to improve on, one of these is upfront. Come the end of the season we are going to be left with Owen, Shola, Chopra, we also have Luque, but it's still uncertain if he will be used solely as a left winger or as a striker.
As we reportedly have no money to spend in January it looks like we'll be restricted to loan deals, so I doubt we'll be seeing any new arrivals til the Summer. With no additions to the defence it will certainly remain our big weakness, Taylor is due back next week, which is definitely a massive boost, at 19 years of age he is the real leader of our back 4 and a gaurenteed starter, it's who partners him that's the problem, with Bramble and Boumsong not seemingly up to the job at the moment. Peter Ramage has only featured for us as an emergency right-back, I would have no problems with him being given a run alongside Taylor at centre-back, as this is his natural position, but I fear Souness will persevere with Boumsong, as he paid £8m for him and will be desperate for him to show his worth.
We could also do with cover for the left-back spot; with Babayaro injured so frequently we have to rely on Elliot, who clearly isn't an adequete replacement.

I think that he will get a good reception from the liverpool fans as hes done a lot for them in the past and he is like one of their own... I have no doubts that owen will be tryin his hardest to get on the scoresheet to try and stick it to benitez after he seemed resilient to bring him back in the summer... It should be a good game and I hope that Luque returns to play on the left instead of ameobi, we need more width and shola cant offer that like Luque can :)

Souness is committed but you can be as committed as you like and still not be a good manager.
