Well it's ovious Totti will be getting more votes but I think they were both in the wrong and both equally stupid.

Although both were in the wrong, Totti was surely more stupid as it seemed unprovoked and for no reason other than being overly frustrated at not being able to break through the Denmark defence.

Both stupid and immature.

But spitting is the lowest of the low. Totti wins comfortably, fecking greasy twunt.

Simple.

Tripping is part of the game, but not spitting.

There is no foul for spitting, instead a ban or fine, and that makes it more stupid than tripping and just getting a suspension.

Totti wins this one. He had no reason to spit on anyone.
Should be ashamed of himself.

both were remarkably stupid but a little more stupid is totti's spitting.
it was as if like he had no option and out of frustration he spit. comon you could have pushed him down or something, but not spit :(

I'd trip and spit on diego Simeone ;) lol for me Totti was stupidest, it kinda helped Beckham cos he got heated at times and although Simeone totally milked it, it taught Beckham a valuable lesson on what not to do at the World Cup level. Any English player wouldn't have batted and eyelid if someone did what Beckham did to him. Divers. They should be in the olympics

Even though Becks is not known to be the smartest guy around, Totti is positively known for his stupidity. There is a book in Italy called "100 stupid things Francesco Totti said". He is a total lug head. The spitting incident just demonstrates how low class he is in addition to his lack of wits. Nothing to do with skill, though.

I admire Totti's football talents, not the spitting ones

Totti is just a bell end anyway (not takin away the fact he is a brilliant player), but Beckhams stupidity at tripping Simone and thinking he would get away with it is unreal. He significantly reduced our chances of winning that game, and in the end we did lose it.

Both stupid at the end of the day

i was disapointed when totti did that as it was unlike him,but would't anyone want to kick that rat simeone although it was irresponsible. What annoyed me most about the beckham incident was the way simeone went down and the way batistuta was clapping with a big smirk when beckham left the field.

Totti's spitting inccident was an absolute disgrace to football and sends out the wrong message to young football fans worldwide.

Because of the position England were in at the world cup i feel Beckham's trip was more stupid, If he didnt get sent off then it would of been a different world cup for England, maybe won it you never know
it was very stupid to trip someone when its not needed and risk the chance of being sent of and ruin your country's chance of success.
Totti's game wasnt as important, and he wasnt playing to well anyway.

what totti did is the lowest of the low, but i don't know how much it has to do with intelligence as opposed to being unable to control a temper etc.

So my vote has to be beckham in terms of stupidity.

you're right, but if he was playing bad, he should have called for a substitution not spit on the opposer

Totti, he's a plank. However he's twice as intelligent as Beckham who is as thick as two short planks.

Its nothing to do with playing bad in beckhams scenario.Surely Beckham didnt think he would get away with tripping a player which was not needed though?
you could tell he lost his temper with the foul from Simone on him.

It is Stupid to Trip someone when everyone is watching, he was sent off and couldnt play the remainder of that game, and if the next if they went through, which was awful for Englands chance for success.

on the other hand Totti done it when know one expected it and he continued to play that game.
now what incident is more stupid?
