I think Lami was referring to the fact that Tom was running away with the poll and it seemed he was going to be the next Off-topic mod, but instead someone who wasn't on the shortlist was chosen.

Exactly. Now i seriously don't understand whats going on, i don't want to. Thank God i didnt become a mod because i never wanted to be. I never even thought my name would be listed, but hey, it was, and managed to get 13 votes lol. Living freely is a gift. Hard luck Tom Pain. Congrats Gollan.

gollan was chosen because he didn't really want to be a mod. therefore he isnt someone who will just go on a power trip. unlike most the people in the poll. some of the posts in that thread were very enlightening and helped me make the decision.

So you chose someone who didn't want to be a mod and made them a mod? I didn't get all those votes because I'm a power greedy arsehole. You asked for people to sign up so I did. It's not like I asked to me a mod out of nowhere because I wanted the power. I put my name down because I thought I contribute well as a moderator.

No hard feelings Tom and Lami, democracy is overrated, I know I've said it somewhere before, the way Bush felt when he won at Florida, Etc.

I promise off-topic will be boring from now on.

See ya all around.

Why would anyone want to be a mod/admin will always be beyond me. My short exerience in life has taught me:
a. Never volunteer to do anything - you'll be forced to do it eventually
b. There is always someone who's crazier than you - so don't pick fights
c. There are no free lunches
d. Chics that talk dirty aren't always easy to score with

So obviously there is no reason to become a mod/admin, is there?

^ The winning post. Well done Gollan, unlucky Tom.

Come on Pig, it's not really fair when he was getting his hopes up thinking he was going to be a mod, then someone else who wasn't even considered becomes the mod instead :(

being a mod shouldnt be a role to get you "excitied" or whatever emotions one feels when they "have their hopes up".

Come on, you saw the amount of people that signed up, the disapointment of those left out and how much Gunplay protested against his exclusion from the vote. The chance of becoming a moderator is very slim, and I'm sure to be given the privilege, or the chance to become one, is something that many members would try and aspire to.

I simply have to agree with Tom on this one.
I mean none of those contenders were forced into it, they all wanted to become a moderator, because they felt they could help the PESInsight community. If I was told I was to become a mod, I would feel excited.

When was he told he was to be a mod? I just thought there was a puclic opinion poll on the matter...

Well what is the point in having the poll if it is going to have no effect on the outcome? (You may say you learnt about the people in their posts in the thread - but where was Golan while all that was happening?)

hitmanuk2k
24-11-2004, 18:02
it had every effect on the outcome.

Gollan did get 57,984(not exact figure) votes so he therefore win's. Hitman did clearly specify at the start of the other thread that the final choice is his afterall it is his forum.

Put it this way, if this discussion keeps up you will have pissed on your chips for future places, like Gunplay.

In the end you should be happy your popularity got you the (2nd) most votes. At the end of the day it's all up to Hitman. It's his forum after all.

Why was there a poll in the first place if none of the people in charge were going to acknowledge it.

I agree with the idea of there not being a poll, I even suggested hitman make the decision himself, but I don't see why a poll was started if it's sole use was to disappoint numerous members of the forum.

And refrain from replies like 'Gollan won the poll fair and square :shitsmiley:' like all that's been spat out at the upset members so far.

Nothing against Gollan mind, think he'd make a great moderator, but just don't understand why there was a poll in the first place.

24-11-2004, 23:26
You've got to feel sorry for Tom here because with the most votes you'd expect him to win but the poll was just to get an idea of the public view and Hitman always had the right to make his own decision.

Original?
24-11-2004, 23:36
Tom, I feel sorry for you if you are dissapointed, yet you really shouldn't be, being a moderator is not that much fun. However as has already been noted, acting childish and complaining will not help.

Gollan will make a very good and hopefully amusing moderator to have around. I have to agree with hitman and the others that the Poll thread really did show certain aspects of people's characters, and who might be and might not be suitable for a moderating position.

But in the end, does it really have much effect on you?

I understand the reactions here but I learned a long time ago, the internet is not a democracy. Websites and forums are owned by individuals and they want things done their way, so it's pointless arguing. Poll or not, they'll appoint either their friends or someone obviously highly responsible, but in the end, they will always make the decision themselves.
