Hers the first of many transfer gossip involving chelsea
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the prolific Ukrainian and has, in the past, described him as the most complete forward in football.
With Milan keen on completing a permanent switch for Hernan Crespo, currently on loan at Giuseppe Meazza from Chelsea, there has been talk of a swap deal.
However, the player's agent, Oscar Damiano, has moved to quell any prospect of a move for the newly crowned European Footballer of the Year.
''I know that they (Chelsea) may be interested but there is no chance; even if they make a ridiculous offer,'' Damiano told The Independent.
''They would have no chance on personal terms alone. He is one of the best five players in the world and is paid as such.
''There are always rumours but they can forget it. If Chelsea don't understand that, it is their problem.
''Milan are a buying, not a selling club.''
With Shevchenko seemingly an unobtainable target, it is thought Mourinho could turn his attention again to Tottenham's Jermain Defoe - despite having previously insisted that he is more than content with his current striking options.

how is it spam ? , its a thread about chelsea (its not hard to understand) its for talking about chelsea
The fact it was created for no reason. And is merely going to be a thread for the tabloid gospelists to post endless amounts of ridiculous transfer speculation.

If you even supported chelsea I might have left it open, will we have the pleasure of you making one for each club in the english divisions next? I can't close the stupid ones that already exist because they're too popular but I can nip this one in the bud thats for sure.
enough feckin official threads going about already and as the only regular chelsea fan already said in here that this was spam its closed
I don't think Chelsea has his own official thread, unbelievable since they are the best team at the moment.

I don't think we have one because people just put who chelsea are going to be linked with.
Already been tried. There's only 3 regular Chelsea fans on this forum and I don't think any of us actually want or would regularly maintain an official thread.

Can't agree with you more I think that Chelsea don't have Glory hunting supporters like Man U and Arsenal so there won't be much of a point.
Maybe next year if Chelsea win a few cups ;)
I think the current Chelsea team deserves an official thread. I know many MANY people dislike Chelsea, and I also used to despise them, but this season they have been wonderfull, with great quality players and a cool coach to keep it all down-to-earth and pretty attractive...
I'm an Arsenal fan, but I do enjoy watching Chelsea play, cause I became an Arsenal fan because I'm a football-fan, and any team that plays nice attacking attractive football with good-quality players etc, deserves to get some respect...
It's a shame that Robben's injury looks pretty damn serious. Unbelievable that the referee neglected to punish that blatant foul even though it happened right in front of his nose...
Hopefully, Kezman will get some playtime now as he's a brilliant player and deserves a chance to show what he can do (...and he aint good at only playing 10-30 minutes a game: he's a player that NEEDS the coach's confidence to do well...)

Because if you had been here when they started this same thread 2/3 months back the Admin/Modertator said he Closed it because it wasn't started by a chelsea fan and because it would just be a place for people to post crap about chelsea's transfers every five minutes.
Also there aren't much chelsea fans on the site to post into this thread.

He's on loan mate.
He's signed a 2.5 year deal. With the option of the contract being cancelled without compensation after 6 months.
So, it's kind of a mixture between both, depending on how he's doing. At the moment he's looking good though, and I'd like him here for the whole 2 and a bit years.

there must be more than 4 Chelsea fans on this board....
should make a poll then saying 'Are you a Chelsea fan ??' and see how many people vote 'Yes'......might work as long as people arent being idiots and just clicking 'Yes' for the crack.......

Yeh that's nice  , I doubt there are any glory hunters of Chelsea yet because we ain't won anything big.....yet. Obviously becoming a big team your are going to attract "Glory Hunters" it's natrual when I was little my whole class was Man U supporters then half of them switched to Arsenal some people had never even heard of Chelsea.
You only know when your team has Glory hunters when two or three girls in your class support your team because girls don't reall like football.

You can identify a glory hunter if they attend the match and keeps on saying things like, "Who's the red team?", "Who's that player?", "That Henry, he plays for Manchester right?" etc...
Or they can't even pronounce or spell their names correctly.

Actually True but my spelling ain't great so yeh I can sometimes spell names wrong I attend Loads of games more than most in this forum, However I can't really care I only get pissed off when people ask me what team I support and I go Chelsea and then they go oh your a glory hunting supporter that pisses me off but I know 3 people in my year that are close friends and they have been supporting them since year 7 atlseast (I didn't know them before this) but I might add they haven't attend a game but I know they aint glory hunted
It's quite hard to spot gloryhunters at the Bridge actually, I've no doubt that there are some.
Although I'd count the people who say they support Chelsea for ten years or so, but have only actually been interested and passionate about Chelsea these past two years as gloryhunters as well. They may have been categorised as Chelsea fans, but what response do they have to the song "Where were you when you were shit?" - they were probably at home checking teletext at 5:30pm then staying up for Match of the Day.
Yet know they're my main competition when I'm trying to book tickets!

Being a real fan and not a glory-hunter doesn't necessarily mean they have to go to their club's matches. Like those fans in Asia, how often is it that they travel to Europe to watch these games?
I know many people who are starting to support Chelsea and Barcelona this season. Especially Chelsea - now their blue jerseys seem to be everywhere, printed with new names like Drogba, Duff, and of course Robben.
Anyway good luck to the Chelsea fans here, hope you win teh quadruple ;)

I've nothing against overseas fans, obviously they can't attend many/any games, but if they've clearly got the passion for their clubs, then good for them. It's the fans who live a train ride away from Old Trafford, Highbury or Stamford Bridge and never bother to go that piss me off.
The corporates and the day trippers are easy to spot. They're usually the ones who bring their shopping bags and flasks with them and sit in the east/west upper. Or the ones who just clap everything, Chelsea or not.

Or the people who come in their suits with their wives and briefcases, complaining they could be doing something else right now. That was the case at the West Ham game anyway.
We should have won by so much more yesterday though, how fucking frustrating was that? We completely dominated the game. James Beattie is a fucking nob, and he should have no complaints on his Rhino charge on Gallas. John Terry is out for the game against Newcastle, but atleast Carvalho is back now.
Duff was magnificent yesterday aswell.

For me I think he tries to hard personally he needs to be certain of a place in the team.
Bad news, seems as though Eidur's got himself arrested for drink-driving on Saturday night.
Well, it couldn't have been speeding could it? And at least he can't have hit anything behind the wheel.
He obviously thinks one goal in 9 games is something worth celebrating!
Could be bow-locks though. I think he was at the police station, but the police have to bring you back to the station if you're breath-test was inconclusive. So they give you a blood test to determine your results - so it could just be that, and then he was let go. Who knows.
how can he celebrate , its not even a nice goal...
Maybe because it was an important goal?

Chelsea do the "Treble"

José Mourinho has won the Barclays Manager of the Month Award for January, defender John Terry has won Barclays Player of the Month and Petr Cech has been given a special Barclays Merit Award — making Chelsea the first team to be given all three Barclays Premiership awards in one month.
Mourinho’s award, his second this season, seals a successful January for Chelsea who picked up 12 points out of 12 with decisive away wins at Liverpool (1-0) and Tottenham (2-0) and dominant displays at Stamford Bridge with wins over Middlesbrough (2-0) and Portsmouth (3-0).
Chelsea kept four clean sheets in as many matches in January largely due to the powerful presence of Barclays Player of the Month John Terry. The Chelsea captain has become an inspirational leader for the Blues, helping them extend their lead at the top of the Barclays Premiership with his reliable tough tackling and precision passing.
Petr Cech has also been given a special Barclays Merit Award for keeping 10 consecutive clean sheets in the Barclays Premiership — a new Premiership record.
Cech last conceded a goal in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw at Highbury on 12 December. Since then he’s played an incredible 961 minutes of Barclays Premiership football without having to take the ball out of the back of the net. Cech has played in all Chelsea’s 27 Barclays Premiership outings this season and has not conceded a goal in 19 of these games.
The decisions were made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans.
Nic Gault, from the Barclays Awards Panel, said: “Chelsea have had a blistering start to 2005, with José Mourinho’s tactical sharpness, John Terry’s inspirational presence and the record breaking Petr Cech. They now look favourites to scoop the Barclays Premiership - their first domestic league honour for nearly 50 years.”
Chelsea do not need Cole - Terry
John Terry does not think Chelsea need Ashley Cole
League probes Cole claim
Chelsea have no need to pursue Arsenal left-back Ashley Cole, according to Blues captain John Terry.
Chelsea are being investigated by the Premier League over an alleged illegal approach for the Gunners' England star.
But Blues centre-half Terry said Chelsea were already in possession of a world-class left-back in Wayne Bridge.
"Bridge is a first-class player, one of the best left-backs in the world so why do we need to go out and do that?" he told BBC Radio Five Live.
"Ashley's a great player, I'm not denying that.
"But I think if you speak to Ashley, he's Arsenal through and through.
"It is the same with me, I don't want to ever leave Chelsea."
Terry added: "It's all about opinions. I'm not Sven-Goran Eriksson's first-choice. If Mr Mourinho had the chance to buy Sol Campbell or Rio Ferdinand, would he? I don't know, you'd have to ask him that."
Cole reportedly met Blues boss Jose Mourinho and chief executive Peter Kenyon in a London hotel in January.
Chelsea have not publicly confirmed or denied the meeting, which would be in breach of Premier League rule K3.
But both clubs have pledged to co-operate with the inquiry.
Bridge signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2003 from Southampton for £7m, one of the first signings by previous boss Claudio Ranieri after the massive injection of cash by Roman Abramovich.
When Mourinho took over he brought his own right-back to Stamford Bridge, in the shape of Paolo Ferreira from former club Porto, but he did not move for a left-sided defender.
However, Mourinho did sell a left-back when Celestine Babayaro was allowed to join Newcastle in January.
That left Bridge as the only senior left-back at Chelsea, and Mourinho has admitted the position will be a priority for him in the summer.
Bridge has enough class for Chelsea, i rate him high in my standards.
They should buy one for the bench( or you try Kezman at that position :)
How about, instead of every news story to do with Chelsea being posted here, you put NewsNow: Chelsea (http://www.newsnow.co.uk/newsfeed/?name=Chelsea) on the first post.

Frankly who cares. I'm really going off Chelsea now. It's all very admirable winning the league, now I want a Keegan-esque collapse.
It's like winning the master league starting with the team's normal players and 50k in the bank. On Championship manager the chelsea league position would be one long flatliner at 1st. Hopefully Mourihno will resign this season after winning the quadruple to retire to his Bond villain lair in the Algarve.

It much more of an accomplishment for Mourhino than the players. Arguably Raneiri had a much stronger team and he failed to win a thing, so I think hats off to the man from the Iberian. But ion the other hand its like complamenting someone for winning a marathon who starts off 8 km ahead of the rest of the pack and has a scooter. ;)

Nope, but tickets for Palace arrived today!
Got some new ticket ordering internet system, lets you select what stand and gate you want to be in before ordering your tickets. It's a bit like the Ticketmaster system if you've ever used that.
Tickets went on sale at 7 and it was really busy and difficult to get in, but that's to be expected. But once it settled down it really is a good service. Lets you know right away whether you got your tickets, rather than waiting 2 hours for a confirmation e-mail like you did last time.

Since suffering small breaks in two bones against Blackburn, Robben has been walking with the aid of crutches. But since friday he can walk without them, so lets hope he soon will be playing for Chelsea because he is one of my favourite players (and a very important player for Chelsea)
From www.soccernet.com:
Shevchenko rules out Chelsea move
European Footballer of the Year Andriy Shevchenko has ruled out moving to Chelsea.
The AC Milan and Ukraine striker will return to Old Trafford, scene of his winning spot-kick in the 2003 Champions League final shoot-out, next Wednesday.
Milan face Manchester United in the last 16 of the Champions League, and while he promises to savour the occasion, Shevchenko insists his heart belongs to the Rossoneri.
He has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge recently, but stressed that he is not prepared to join Jose Mourinho's foreign legion at Stamford Bridge, even though he holds both coach and chairman Roman Abramovich in high regard.
'I really admire what Roman and boss Mourinho are doing at Chelsea,' Shevchenko told The Sun. 'It is not just because Abramovich spends money but he shows a great deal of enthusiasm for what he is doing. He is a real winner.
'But I do not want to move to English football. I do not want to leave AC Milan to join anyone else.'
Shevchenko has scored 105 Serie A goals for Milan since joining from Dynamo Kiev in 1999, together with a host of crucial strikes in Europe.
'This is my spiritual home,' he said. 'They have voted me their greatest player - I cannot leave a place like this.'
He expects the first leg of the tie against United to be a stern test of Milan's capacity to reign over Europe this year.
'I have never played against Rio Ferdinand before but I know all about him. He is a really strong defender,' Shevchenko added.

Shevchenko was definitely one of them, fresh from netting the Champions League winning spot-kick for AC Milan.
Tenacious D

Yeh Chelsea are linked with everyone ain't going to write a list...but yeh.
Shevchenko scored an awesome last minute freekick against us in the USA tour pre-season to nick the game 3-2.
Cafu's opener was a peach as well, although Drogba's header was incredible as well, probably the most powerful header I've ever seen.
Speaking of lists, I wrote a list of all the players Chelsea were linked with last season in a thread called something imaginative like 'who have your club been linked with'. I'll try and find it.
Also, thinking about the Italian Serie A. Chelsea have no Italian players at all, nor have we bought anyone in the current squad from Italian sides, and we beat Lazio 2-1 and 4-0 - maybe this is representative of how the Premier League have overtaken the Serie A?
Newcastle away - anyone going? The club chartered a train to run Chelsea up there, which was nice. They took the 6,000 allocation which was a bit daft.
I mean, I'm all for Chelsea taking the big away allocations, as it gives me a chance to attend a few away games each year, but it's on a Sunday evening, it's on TV, it's all that way north, it just doesn't make sense to take the huge allocation there. Take the massive allocations on 3pm games and such, not the TV games that are about 300 miles away.
We're minus Parker, Huth and Drogba through injury, and minus John Terry through suspension (thanks to the deliberate booking) so it'll be a reserve side for Newcastle. Drogba also unlikely for Barca away, which is a massive loss.

Hmm should be a stern test we haven't lost to anyone apart from Arsenal/Man U in the F.A. cup since 96 or something I fancy us to beat Man U rather than Arsenal if we do face them.
Watt/Carvalho have been playing together in training all week, so it may well be Steven Watt that has to put up with Shearer's elbows/kicks/dives that Robert Huth took care of so well last year!
Be interesting to see if players like Nuno Morais, Sebastien Kneissl and Filipe Oliviera get many first team outings this season.
Watt and Morais played against Scunthorpe and both did well, Morais especially. Olivieira came on for the last ten minutes a few times last year and looked promising, impressed during his loan spell at Preston as well. Maybe he'll make the bench tomorrow.

Bah, decided not to get tickets for the Carling Cup due to (lack of) availability, instead we should be getting tickets for the barca home game, which should be a cracker. Also, going to see if tickets for Arsenal and Charlton are available as they are 2 of the last 3 home games.
Anyway, tomorrows game, hopefully Morais and Watt can come in and do well, in absence of the first team players. Also let's hope Kezman can find his old PSV form and score a few tomorrow.
Looking forward to the Barcelona game aswell, im confident we can get a good result down there to take back to the bridge, and hopefully Drogba will be back to full fitness for the game, even if he is looking doubtfull (still in the squad though).

As long as we have a solid defence then im ok...for the Barca game what you have got to remember is Chelsea are a very good defensive team and that I don't think Barca have been up agaisnt a defence that good.
But have Chelsea ever played against an offence that good? As fattyronaldo said, Barca has one of the best attack in the world. Anyways, I think it will be a gr8 match, the two best teams at the moment (in my opinion) to play against each other, looking forward to it.

Chelsea got boucned from the FA Cup, and I don't like their chances against Barca.
Still Mourinho is a cagey f**k and Chelsea's defense is tight.
Still I think Barca should take them and Chelsea will be left with only the Premiership title (maybe) unless their form plunges, they could still finish the season with no silver.
Well, I find it hard to believe that Chelsea will end this season without any title. But it will be a very hard match against Barcelona.
Duff out
Gallas in
Drogba in
Jarosik cup-tied
Robben out
Huth out
I think it's probably more important to have Drogba available for this match than Duff, but obviously I'd rather have both.
At least with Gallas back, we can stick him at left-back and leave Ferreira at right back and young Glen on the bench.
Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Carvalho, Gallas, Tiago, Lampard, Makelele, Cole, Eidur, Drogba

Duff will play. :)
2-1 Barca: wow... didnt know Frisk played for Barca... ;)
Felt the 2nd yellow for Drogba was a pretty harsh decision as I felt he was going for the lose ball...
But Barca deserved to win, as Chelsea was way too defensive and cowardly.
A pretty pathetic performance from a team with so much quality...
I also dislike the very annoying time-wasting stuff from Chelsea... if you're too affraid to play football, why bother even showing up!?
Ah well... 2-1 means it could be a pretty good return match. However, if Chelsea plays like tonight again, they dont deserve to go through. I wanna see football being played. Not the crap I saw from them tonight.
BTW: why bring in an extra defender, if Barca is aleady so close to the goal!? Your just gonna make sure the ball stays in that area that way, which means more danger in front of the chelsea goal!? He should have brought on Kezman instead, and that big russian guy, so the long balls could go to the big guy, and kezman around him and running into the spaces etc... That way the ball can be shot upfield without giving it straight back to Barca, plus it will keep the own defensive area a bit less crowded...
Ah well... Frisk's decision changed the game, so that's a sour taste, but overall barca, with the way they played, deserved to win.

Btwn Barca deserved to win but im glad with the Chelsea result because I didn't want to lose 5-0 and have no chance at the bridge.

that wasnt the only foul he did in the game. he deserved the red card without a doubt.
Barce deserve to win...although it seems like Chelsea have the upper hand when Drogba was still in the game, but they only score from an own goal....
that wasnt the only foul he did in the game. he deserved the red card without a doubt.
Then the ref should have given the 2nd yellow for the correct foul: that's his job.
I could write for pages about this game, but I'll refrain, I'll refrain from swearing too much as well if possible.
First of all, general gameplay. I thought defensively Chelsea were brilliant, all the back four were superb. Terry was shakey for the first 10 minutes but settled down, Eto'o goal aside, Carvalho was outstanding. Ferreira was brilliant as usual, Gallas is so versatile and so generally brilliant that he can put in a great performances against a great team in any position.
Attacking, we had one outlet. Didier Drogba. Who in fairness, I thought played well, considering he had no support. He won a lot of headers and retained possession well, breaking up the constant Barca attacks. Duff played quite well as well, Joe Cole, apart from being wrongly flagged offside when he was through, did very little.
I didn't envision Barcelona as being such cheats. Deco's was the worst dive I've seen since...umm...yesterday actually, Pires against Bayern, but it was still an absolute shocker. Referee had the perfect view and still didn't book Deco.
Drogba's first yellow is debatable. Most defenders would skip away from a challenge like that and use the extra time and space to pass the ball well. But Belletti chose to put on the theatrics and roll around in agony to earn Drogba a yellow card. A clumsy tackle, but the yellow card was induced by the diving.
Second yellow isn't even debatle, it's laughable. Wins a 50/50 ball with the keeper, his feet and studs don't even touch the goalkeeper and he's sent off. Anders Frisk is either corrupt or visually impaired. It will be interesting to see what Chelsea complain about in their letter to UEFA.
Needless to say, Drogba got sent off and we had no outlet upfront. We had no striker for the 15 minutes they scored in. Which meant whenever we cleared the ball, it went straight to the Barca defence without challenge, and another attack ensued.
Short conclusion:
Chelsea played well. Playing defensively doesn't mean they played badly, even though some people seem to think that for some reason.
Anders Frisk is a cunt. (Okay, I'll swear once. But I think it's the only word I can really use to describe my feelings towards him)
Consequently, because of Frisk's decision. Chelsea lose the game. Which, in colloquial terms means we were robbed.
Makelele racially abused. What a bunch of impressionable idiots the Spanish population are.
We'll still do them at home though, and hopefully Frisk will never referee a high-profile game again.

You could have choose to brought on a striker.
And Chelsea's time-wasting tactics hardly make you one to point out that the opposition are cheats.
Brought on another striker like who?
Eidur - can't play upfront by himself. Can't hold up the ball, which is what we needed. Needs a partner or runners from midfield. Every midfielder was playing deep and Duff/Cole had gone off.
Kezman - Please.
Time-wasting tactics? Please, you don't even know if they had cramp or not, and what was achieved, about 70 seconds of time wasted.
As opposed to incessant diving to attempt to gain freekicks and penalties, as well as getting one player unjustly sent off.
Stella Artois
23-02-2005, 23:11
Kezman.
And Robben is not someone who goes down like he has been shot? Give me a break.
However, that's beside the point. The sending off was unjust and I can sympathise with you there, but you deserved to lose. Just like every side who plays with a defensive attitude.
Kezman - we needed an outlet. Someone like Drogba who can compete for balls pumped upto him in the air and retain possession.
Not someone who's slightly built and 5'10 who's only good characteristic is work ethic. Who can't win a header to save his life and can't control the ball, let alone hold it up.
He is good at giving it that 'God, What do I have to do to score a goal!' look though.
As people who watch Chelsea games will know, Robben hasn't dived since his first half dozen appearences. He occasionally over-exhaggerates fouls, but that's it.
Stella Artois
23-02-2005, 23:26
It's the same thing.
Hold on, so overexhaggerating clear fouls that would've been given anyway (and are sometimes denied because of his theatrics) is the same as blatant non-contract diving attempting to gain a completely unfair advantage by deceiving the referee when the defender did nothing wrong?
Kezman - we needed an outlet. Someone like Drogba who can compete for balls pumped upto him in the air and retain possession.

Seriously, Kezman is way better then Drogba. Wayyyy better. It's a shame he doesnt get the confidence he needs, cause when it comes to pure goalscoring, positioning, and keeping the ball etc, he's among the best in Europe. I have seen Romario, Ronaldo, Nilis, Nistelrooy and Kezman at PSV over all these years, and I can honestly say that Kezman, in his period at PSV, compared to the others, was the best out of all of them. But he also needed a while to get going at PSV though...
But in a game like tonight, with so much space, and Kezman's speed and ability, he could have been a way more serious threat upfront then any of the other available Chelsea forwards (Robben not included ofcourse, as he's injured). It also would have boosted his confidence, and thus would have improved his game...
But hey, if Mourinho wants to play Iron Wall Defence for 35 minutes, then so be it. Nothing to do with playing football though...
If you wanna play like that, just buy 10 big-ass american line-backers and go to work...

Robben overexhaggerates fouls that are cleary not worthy of free kicks, which is as bad if not worse.
When is a foul not worthy of a free-kick?
Deco's dive tonight was the worst i've seen since Dioufus against Blackburn, he was actually looking straight at the ref when he dived.
Robben overexhaggerates fouls that are cleary not worthy of free kicks
So you concede it is fouls that Robben overexhaggerates.
Fouls = freekicks/penalties. There's no grey area, fouls = free kicks.
Yet you claim this is worse than pure non-contact diving?
Stella Artois
23-02-2005, 23:41
I mistyped.
I meant to say he overexhaggerates challenges/contact from an opponent. in order to gain an advantage, thus this is as bad if not worse than diving.
Yi-Long, sorry, Kezman's not adaptable to the Premiership.
The speed you speak of is non-existent. He's a mediocre-speed player in the Premiership.
His control is seriously lacking, his passing often astray and when he's playing Chelsea's moves just seem to come to and end when he gets the ball.
He just doesn't seem to move off-the-ball intelligently. Lampard/Duff/Robben/Drogba running through the middle of the pitch, instead of running into space, he runs into defenders and a more confined area.
Maybe he just needs a bit of a run in the team, but when you're fundamentals such as passing, control and movement are lacking it's difficult to see how he'll achieve anything at Chelsea.
I mistyped.
I meant to say he overexhaggerates challenges/contact from an opponent. in order to gain an advantage, thus this is as bad if not worse than diving.
Firstly, he doesn't do that. As I explained, first half dozen games he was a bit of an embarressment, but no longer. He exhaggerates fouls, and consequently, we're often denied clear cut free kicks and penalties because of his theatrics.
Secondly, diving when there is contact is worse than diving when there isn't contact? Run that by me again.
Stella Artois
23-02-2005, 23:56
If the intention is the same for both, then both are as bad as each other.
How many more times are you going to change your opinion. First exhaggerated fouls are worse than blatant dives, then contact dives are worse than non-contact dives, but now it's all equal.
Finally a sensible reply that I agree with. Yet as Robben has not been diving for the last few months, what an irrelevent waste of forum space.
Stella Artois
24-02-2005, 00:09
Next time I write a reply I will make sure it is perfect just for you.
Robben dives, end of discussion.
Well you were the one going on about how going off-topic and speaking out of turn is such a cyber-sin.
So now, I've got some Arsenal fan telling me that Robben dives and ending the discussion.
I've watched every Chelsea live game minus two (West Ham carling cup and Birmingham - neither of which Robben was in for).
You however have watched Chelsea play Arsenal once and a few Sky games as well as the ten minutes on MOTD each Saturday. Yet your opinion is definitive and holds more substance than mine.
Do me a favour.
Stella Artois
24-02-2005, 00:18
And that favour would be what?
The matches I see allow me to form an opinion. That opinion is he is as much of a diving cheat as Pires or Vieria (two players you moan about constantly).
As this discussion is going nowhere, I will let it die.
Vieira and Pires have dived persistently for years. Not even the most stubborn and deluded Arsenal fan could possibly dispute this. You also forget to mention Ljunberg.
I've watched live 90 minutes of all but two games this season. Robben came along and dived persistently against Newcastle, Fulham etc... the early games of his Chelsea career. Since late November/December he's not dived. He's over-reacted and dramatised fouls, but that's it. No diving.
But no, I tell you what. We'll all go by your biased opinion derived from ten-minute Match of the Day highlights.
Stella Artois
24-02-2005, 00:27
One final thing....
If I see just one dive during a 10 minute Match of the Day Highlight, surely that's enough to classify him as a diver? A dive is a dive.
Now you're changing the whole direction of the debate to suit your purposes again. Of course you've seen him dive on Match of the Day. When did I ever dispute the fact he ever dived?
In case you've forgotten, I stated that Robben dived in the early days of his Chelsea career. But has not dived recently (3+ months).
Therefore, comparing him to a persistant cheat like Pires who's cheated many a referee and defence during his duration in the Premiership is not correct.
Robben dives, end of discussion.

I just find it funny that an Arsenal supporter can go on about diving really I do :p ( I thought I hadn't heard everything from them untill now).
Kezman can't play upfront by his own and why send on two strikers were hardly going to score a goal so whats the point in loosing 5-1 or something?, the REF dictated the game, Deco diving like a Dolphin was beyond me he looked like BA plane about too take off.If your going to do it Please don't do it as bad as that.
I can still see Chelsea geting through who knows if we didn't get that sending off we might not have lost the game.
I thought JT was excellent :) and so was the whole back four.
P.s> Drogba's miss might prove crucial.
Lucky for Chelsea having an away goal in hand from Barce's Belletti's own goal...
i just found out that Mourinho had an arguement with Rijkaard during the half time of the match....it was about Mourinho fussed over Rijkaard talking with the ref...same as last time where he fuss about Fergeson (spelling) chatting with the ref...

Well... at PSV Eindhoven he was known for his very intelligent positioning and creating spaces for both himself and others to run into. Plus his touch and his passing were great. So his basics are great. He's just in a bad form right now, and also he's been very unlucky. Plus he has gotten very little playtime, which is exactly the thing a player like him needs to get back in form. Perhaps Chelsea should loan him out to a team where he does get to play each and every week, and he can then blast 3 past Cech when he plays Chelsea :p
Seriously, if you had seen him all those years at PSV, you would have a totally different opinion of the guy. But I can understand why the fans/people don't really have trust in him yet, cause he hasn't shown anything yet. It also took a while at PSV, and fans didnt have much faith in the lil guy, but he turned out to have a better goal-scoring record then pretty much anyone in the history of PSV, including Romario, Ronaldo, Nistelrooy etc... plus he scored some amazing quality goals as well. (although there were also a lot of tap-ins, it got to be said... )
Anyway, he's better then Drogba and Gudjohnson and Cole, that's for sure. Mourinho is nuts letting Kezman's talents go to waste...

That's true, I've lost all my points since I put all my points on the Chelsea win but I think this result is a very good result for Chelsea. They often seem to win games 1-0 so if they get this result they will get through.

Thats true, Barca was the best team and deserved to get a bigger win. I thought Chelsea played a really poor game, I think the last 30 minutes they even didn't got of their one half, especially the last 10 minutes were a disgrace, with such a team you can play decent football. However Chelsea closed the game with all the players positioned around the box.

Anyway, he's better then Drogba and Gudjohnson and Cole, that's for sure. Mourinho is nuts letting Kezman's talents go to waste...
On evidence he is not he misses sitters from 5 yards & Chelsea don't have time to wait for Kezman to shine sorry but thats a fact you can't wait 10 games and Chelsea draw most or lose most because he can't finish or get into good positions for others to score.
(From www.soccernet.com)
Something said by Rafael Marquez:
'Everyone had talked about Super Chelsea before the game, but I didn't see anything super out there.'
'The only team that played football was us. When a team just waits for their opponents or the referee to make a mistake then it makes you angry.'
Your views on his words?
I know Barca would've preferred us to attack and leave ourselves weaker at the back so they could actually score against us when we had eleven men.
Unfortunately for them, Jose Mourinho would rather Chelsea won. So his tactics consisted of frustrating Barcelona and scoring on the break. They worked.
It's football, what's he complaining about?

Because he knows the lead won't last for long:) Chelsea did their job last night, they got the away goal and kept the score low. 1-0 at the bridge anyone?

Excuse the language but to any barcelona fans out there:
Chelsea are going to fucking do you over at stamford bridge.
We played amazing last night, we defended excellently and when the opportunity arose, counter attacked well too. If Drogba scored the game would have been dead & buried. Joe Cole was never offside aswell.
Anders Frisk is a fucking twat, and he bummed barcelona for the whole night. Sending Drogba off for a ball he was perfectly entitled to go for, and which he won?? What a cunt.
Ronaldinho and co. were average for the whole game, infact going on last nights performance i can't see why everyone would make such a big deal out of him.
Makelele, Terry, Carvalho, Gallas and Ferreira were absolutely outstanding last night, and Duff and Lampard were great aswell. Drogba was good until the ridiculous decision to send him off.
I think Robben will be back for the return leg aswell, which will be good news for us, hopefully giving us more of a cutting edge in attack as Joe Cole was pretty much non- existent last night.

Carvalho was horrible!
What was he doing for the second goal?
Makelele and Drogba were Chelsea's best men on the night. Barca were rank, one long ball and they're all at sea. I'm very confident Chelsea will do it.
He was at fault for the second goal, but other than that he kept Eto'o completely out of the game. Still should've hoofed the fecking ball up to the Chelsea fans on the third tier for the second goal though.
Makelele was man of the match by an absolute country mile.
Is even Flipper finally conceding to the fact that he's a great player?!
Makelele and Drogba were Chelsea's best men on the night.
Drogba????? More like Terry and Makelele. Drogba should of made it 2-0......and if it wasn't for Terry, we would have to score 2 goals to get through, bc he stopped that diving (Portugese wanna be) Deco from socring. But we will beat them at the Bridge and who knows....it may be the night Kezman shines for Chelsea.
Well done Barca and Ander Frisk, u beat a 10 man Chelsea team.
F*ckers
It's no coincidence that as soon as Drogba was sent off, we came under a lot more pressure.
He was the one winning the long balls pumped up to him by our defence and retaining possession. Giving our defenders some rest while Drogba tried to distribute it around the front men. Should've still buried that one-on-one. Looked as if he was going for a Hollywood goal that would look spectacular rather than a more simple and effective side-footed finish.
But that was Makelele's finest ever game for Chelsea.

I thought so too. Makelele was absolutely outstanding, i can't bum him enough after the way he played last night. Making tackles & interceptions at vital moments. And even his distribution was quality last night aswell, where its often a bit lacking.
That pass through to Drogba for his miss was Lampard-esque! Outside of the foot, perfectly timed, beautiful weight. Marvellous!
32 years old now though. Finding a replacement is going to be nigh-impossible. There's no-one else like him in the world right now.
Do you not think you were slightly fleeced for him?
He's been great this season, but last season I thought he looked very average. Nearly £17 million for him seemed pretty steep.
As for the match I thought Chelski were lucky to escape only conceeding two.
Chelsea were fleeced for everyone, with the exception of Wayne Bridge, Paulo Ferreira and Robben.
We're used to it, and at the end of the day, at least he's been a great asset while he's been here though, even if he's only got 1 or 2 seasons left in him. However he's going to leave us one hell of a gap to fill when he leaves though. It's cliche, and is often misused, but there really is no one like him in the world at the moment.

It's all about his Zidane turn lol first time ever and his 25yard pass too set up cole or Drogba I think it was lol...usually he does the 5 yarders

I dont agree with that m8, i think Manuel Fernandes will be just as good or even better, he´s only 19 years old right now, and Mourinho has already said hes the best in his generation, so i would not be surprised to see Fernandes moving from Benfica to Chelsea in 2-3 years
To be honest, I've heard a lot about Manuel Fernandes, so he's obviously pretty special, but I've not seen much of him. Last Benfica match I saw ages ago he got sent off for no reason just as I turned on!
I say there's no one like Makelele because he's so disciplined. He's a great tackler and distributes the ball so simply, he really does just keep our team going. Is Manuel Fernandes that kind of player, or is he more of a Gerrard/Maniche type player who does defensive duty well but also gets forward a lot?

I agree he's too good he plays it simple and can hold onto the ball well great at turning people and dosen't panic when theres 3 players on him, never goes beyond the ball, he really is the unsong hero.
People that don't know much about footy think Makelele is shit because he dosen't score, dosen't assist dosen't pass the ball further then 5-10 yards on most occasions but yet he's one of the most important people in our team. :)
If said too anyone all the things he dosen't do above and he's a Midfielder you would think  what's the big fuss about.

He's been the most disciplined and well-behaved player until last season, when he tried to get Chelsea into the Champions League final, and overreacted when a Monaco player tapped him on the head, falling onto the ground and rolling about clutching his head tightly as if his skull had just been shot.

Kluiverte, just wait.
They will come out with how they played fantastically well, yet because of the sending off they lost. It will have nothing to do with their own football, it will simply be the ref's fault.

Men on pitch:
Barca 11 - Chelsea 10
After some consideration I'm starting to agree with myself that Barca won the game because the ref gave it to them. You could see Chelsea were lacking a player on the pitch, and could only defend with less players.

So no other side in the history of football have managed to conserve a 1-0 lead with 10 men? Interesting.
So no other side in the history of football have managed to conserve a 1-0 lead with 10 men? Interesting.
Sure :)
Must be enjoyable to share your personal thoughts with us ;)
During the 'fair' part of the game. When we had 11 men. We had 2 fantastic chances and Barca had none.
You could only create chances when we went down to ten men.
But of course, you deserve the win because you had more possession. Jesus Christ, what sort of retarded logic is that? 30 shots - all but two of them were shit shots out of desperation.
Artois, you astound me. You're claiming that unfairly going down to ten men against the best attacking side in the world should not have made a difference because 'other teams have conserved 1-0 wins'. Do you think before you type?
We were 1-0 up with eleven men, they had no decent attempts at goal, and we had two. Next thing you know we've got one less player than them for no reason and they go onto score two goals.
So in conclusion. We did play well. With eleven men, we gave Barca no decent opportunities whatsoever and had 2 clear goalscoring chances ourselves. Drogba wrongly sent off, and we succumb to Eto'o, Guily, Lopez, Ronalinho, Xavi etc... and lose 2-1.

That's life? Bad decisions are made all the time, it's no use whining about them.
It's sad Drogba got sent off as it gives you something to hang onto as an excuse when trying to justify that you should be through to the next round.

Cardiff was brilliant! Such a great day out, it was like a great away game, with 30,000 Chelsea, mixed with a Cup Final at an amazing and unique stadium.
I was sat right on the divide, next to all the Liverpool (well, about 4 covered rows and some stewards away). They were great seats, around a great bunch of fans as well. Banter was great. Went 3-1 up in extra time, some Liverpool started leaving, everyone going 'Cheerio' 'We can see you sneaking out...' - Nunez scores, everyone turns around and goes 'Come Back! Come Back!'.
At the end of the game I see these two blokes from the Liverpool end running towards the us, stewards bulked up to stop them coming in. Only for the blokes to finally get a chance to open their jackets and reveal Chelsea shirts and start shouting 'We're fucking Chelsea! We're fucking Chelsea' So the stewards let them in as it would probably have been a bit unwise to leave them in the Liverpool end after they'd exposed themselves!
The city centre segregation was brilliant as well. Chelsea had all the nice pubs, bars and restaurants. Liverpool had all the off-licenses and burger vans! The Prince of Wales - great bar.
Trip home was a nightmare, we left for Cardiff at 7:30am, got tp the park and ride
at about 11:30, into Cardiff by 12. Didn't get back until 2am! M4 was a nightmare. Still could've been worse, could've been a Liverpool fan.
Once I've found the camera I'll upload some pictures.

What a great day we absolutley battered them in my opinion!the boys played well thought drogba was superb second half onwards come to think of it most of them were.nice to see liverpool's negative tactics have'nt stopped and gerrards first of many for chelsea.as you say the m4 was a nightmare the highlight was a limo of liverpool fans relieving themselves on the hard shoulder to a rousing round of applause from our coach!all in all a fantastic day 30,000 chelsea lots of singing booze and a loss of my vocal cords!
Great quality goal by Gerard btw... :D
It was nice seeing Kezman getting some playime, and actually scoring... but man that was a piss-poor goal if ever I saw one :D LOL.
I'm a big Kezman fan, but I know that goal won't help convince his critics of his talent... :D
But yeah it was a great game to watch, and I felt Chelsea deserved the win, so I was happy with the result.
Why exactly did Mourinho get sent off?
Also, I think he shook about EVERYBODY's hand afterwards: geez(!)
CARDIFF PICTURES (http://carefree39.tripod.com/index2.html)
Also, can anyone suggest a way to get the photos off my phone and onto my computer? My phone's bluetooth enabled, but I've got no adaptors or anything for the PC.
Don't know if you got infrared, that would be easy. You could also e-mail your pics to your comp, but that costs loads of money.
Yeah i'd agree that e-mail is probably the easiest way to get pics from your mobile onto your PC, but like Nacco says it isn't cheap.
Got infrared and bluetooth on the phone, but don't think I've got a bluetooth or infrared thing on my computer.
I'll try the e-mail thing, my phone photos better than the camera ones.
depending on the phone you can buy a port / wire to connect to your machine via usb. i seen on for my phone (V500 motoral) for £26, which i thought was a bit steep but if you would use it alot i supose it ant to bad

Isnt the Carling Cup just a shite cup compared to other cups/trophies?
Im sorry, but im noy such a follower of all of these English tournaments(way too many you have)
It was a great game though, with a deserved(overall) win for Chelsea, and an amazing stadium.
Pretty much, but it was the best of all our cup wins I think, in terms of difficulty getting there. West Ham, Fulham, Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool. It's an achievement for that in itself, it's also very significant as it's Mourinho's/Abramovich's first trophy.

Already got my Barca tickets, tightly secured against the fridge door with a massive magnet.
They're should be a loyalty point scheme for huge games like Barca.
I know a number of members who've attended about 15 home games this season, but didn't get a ticket when they went on sale because every member, regardless of how many games they've been to, are allowed to ring up and book tickets.
It doesn't seem fair that members who've been to almost every home game, have to sit by there phones and slug it out with some new fan twat looking to go to his first game of the season against Barca. They'll be plenty of bandwagon jumpers and first timers at the Bridge next Tuesday while members with 20+ loyalty points have to head to their local to watch it.
It's out of order.
Back to the new seats available, the same thing happened for Arsenal at home in the CL last season. I got a seat in the MHL at Gate 13 when tickets originally went on sale. Gates 15-17 were closed for UEFA. Then a week before the game UEFA let Chelsea sell the remaining gates. For another telesales scramble to take place.
To be honest, I've heard a lot about Manuel Fernandes, so he's obviously pretty special, but I've not seen much of him. Last Benfica match I saw ages ago he got sent off for no reason just as I turned on!

Like you said he was sent off for no reason hes also very disciplined, also great on tackles, passing rarely goes wrong and in benfica he has a more defensive role but he also goes up front and try the long shots, he controls the ball suberbly and clearly has a unique style, he never gives up always fighting until the end of the game, really i couldnt see a better replacement for Makelele.
Great article (http://www.football365.com/opinion/john_nicholson/story_144905.shtml)

No, just because hes intresting/entertaining thats the only reason why he gets all the stupid media coverage. To write a whole article basicly kissing his arse all the way through is pointless. Hes entertaining, but not unique, there are plenty of managers who speak there mind, just not in an arrogant tone.
Im a fan of Mourinho by the way.
:)
I agree, he's very over-rated because of his blunt and distinguishable style. A lot of his articles are rubbish, he's got to produce one a week or something, so just plays up to this 'Northern bloke who doesn't give a fuck' persona. Rebelling against the usual media agendas and so on.
However, occasionally he gets it right. That 'Linekar Smarm...' article was brilliant, and he's hit the nail on the head again with this Jose Mourinho article.
A lot of his stuff is rubbish, but occasionally you need people like him to remind you about things that the media are almost convincing you is a normal reaction. All this hoo-hah about his Shhh gesture at the press/scousers etc...
Good news to all you Chelsea fans who don't have a ticket for the game against Barca.

It's only a couple of thousand seats as well, so I imagine anyone who's order was past 5:10pm has missed out.
