I've read somewhere that in part of the film Freddy gets into Jasons mind and realise's that this is one person more messed than him, i'm looking forward to it coming out cause there hasn't been a proper old style horror flick for ages

Forgive me for shattering some of your hopes but Freddy Vs. Jason royally sucks. Read around: critics have mentioned it being laughably crap. Apparently, everything about this film is horrendous - from the ultra-confusing plot (Freddy Vs. Jason? Err...aren't they helping each other?) to the horribly bad acting (sans Englund, who shines, as always).

I never had high hopes for this, though. Admittedly, I've always been a fan of the Nightmare series but the Friday The 13th stuff never really appealed to me, apart from Jason X which I found surprisingly charming.

Oh well, bring on Jeepers Creepers 2. Wait, that's destined for crapness too. :(

I've read a few reviews and here's the best description I've gathered from the extremely incoherent plot:

Freddy has, apparently, lost his powers to wreak chaos because he has been "forgotten?". So, anyway, Freddy is stuck in hell and he needs help and who better then Jason to provide that. His job is to terrify Elm Street again. So, basically, every kill he makes gives Freddy more power.

Confusing? I know. My mates are still eager to see it, however, so--against my will--I'll probably end up watching it. :o

pic, what is your avatar? I can't work it out as it goes too fast.

Haha. It's actual three frame excerpts from the music video Girls Not Grey by AFI.

I have somewhat of an unhealthy obsession with them, you might say. :D

There was Jason X, but that weren't that good a film.

I know yeah i've seen it i thought the bit where he put the womans face in the liquid nitrogen and then smashed her face against a wall was paticulary comedic. Thats what i like about these films there dead funny cause there cheesy

Freddy can no longer invade peoples dreams because all potential victims have been drugged to prevent them from having dreams, rendering impotent the master of nightmares. They've eliminated their fear of Freddy, absolute torture for an egomaniac psychopath who's a legend in his own mind. Like an inmate with a life sentence, Freddy'sa been reduced to plotting a fantastic revenge that will never happen.

Until, That is, Freddy resurrects Jason Vorhees, the equally iconic madman from the Friday 13th series. Jason is the perfect means for Freddy to once again instill fear on Elm Street, creating a window of opportunity for him to emerge from his purgatory. Recognizing how easily manipulayed Jason is, Freddy tricks Vorhees into journeying to Springwood to start a new reign of terror.

But as bodies pile up on Elm Street and Freddy's fearsome reputation assumes new life, he discovers that Jason isn't willing to cease his murderous ways and step aside easily. Now, with a terrified town in the middle, the 2 titans of terror enter into a horrifying showdown of epic proportions, alternating between the world of dreams and the harsh reality of the living world.

Actually that story was taken from the Freddy vs Jason website, i just wanted to clarify a few things and yes i am gonna go and see it and Jason is far better than Freddy!

Jason is far better than Freddy!

No way!

I actually always found the Nightmare films to be much more clever and, dare I say it, had some innovation in their kills. Friday The 13th, on the other hand, relied more (even solely) on tonnes of gore.

I preferred the former but the first incarnation of both the series are masterpieces in their own right.

sheringham316
19-08-2003, 10:30
nah i think i'll have to agree with bluecourse Jason is far better then freddy casue freddy has got to do with curses sort off, WHEREAS JASON IS JUST A COMPLETE MASS MURDERER!! :D :D

Elm St 1 was good and 2 was ok. I actually really liked Freddy as it was a great idea. Halloween was good too. I think Freddy pips it tho cos he can speak and I've always liked the claws!

The original, No.3 and New Nightmare are my favourites. I liked the new approach they took with the last one. The series needed something new.

You liked 3? Dream Warriors. It was ok but a bit geeky?

I was 8 when I saw it, fluorescent lights appealed to me (they still do  ) :)

It was more about mood at that age, and I guess the mood was right. I should watch it again. Wes Craven hasn't done bad with Nightmare films.

True. But sometimes with franchises you just think you seem to have run out of ideas so just stop. Perhaps if David Fincher was to direct one. Also how long can Robert Englund keep playing Freddy?

PicturePerfect
19-08-2003, 17:09
Englund is a good actor, in my opinion and as long he can keep his performances at a considerably good level, I'm fine. The nostalgic element plays in there, doesn't it? It just wouldn't be the same without him, I think.

I'm already saddened that Hodder didn't reprise his role as Jason, we got (woo!) Ken Kirzinger instead.

It was probably because Jason X was a flop, and he didn't want to be involved in another lame film.

Sounds better if we imagine you using that very deep and huskey voice from most trailers! :)

Nah, you're wrong. Firstly, it's not like earlier Friday The 13th films exactly lit the world alight and secondly, Jason X was actually his favourite Friday The 13th film and the reason he wasn't allowed to reprise his role (which he wanted to do) as Jason in F vs. J was because of his proportional height to Englund.

Ive watched it now and let me say it was a lot diff that n e thing i thought it would be it was a classic gory film with goood effects. The story line was preety good and like alaways freddy talked toooooo much but then ya have jason who just kills ya ne fing in sight. The film itself wasnt to scary just when people poped out of nowhere .........where it made ya jump!!! Like i said erlier there was tons of gor and stuff .......so for u's who enjoy ya gory films this is on for u!! ;)

Scary Movie 3 is coming out soon and that should be tremendous! I really didnt enjoy Freddy V Jason as it was just pure shite. The first movies in the series were more original but no everything is so predictable.

PicturePerfect
02-10-2003, 23:21
Scary Movie 2 was absolute crap. And I mean that in the worst way possible. I'd rather be castrated then go through it again. Ok, maybe not, but it was truly horrible.

I'd be surprised if 'Scary Movie 3' will be any better. How many crap parodies can you pull out of your ass before people stop watching?

jag87
02-10-2003, 23:35
The first one was the best scary movie! The funnies and most original. Have you seen the scary movie 3 trailer? A cameo from Simon Cowell!

PicturePerfect

The first one was so and so, I thought. The second one was utter crap.

I've seen the trailer, it looks good but then so did Freddy Vs. Jason's. :)

Scary Movie 4 will also be released. It's supposed to have a focus on superhero films in this time around.
