View Full Version : Liverpool vs Manchester United
im on for a liverpool win, boosted by the signing of morientes and man utd not being the force they used to be. I can see liverpool nicking this one
I'm going to wait and see whether Morientes is eligible, I think he will make a big difference.

I put Liverpool. It'd be quality. Hoping Ferguson doesn't put 11 men behind the ball, and Dudek keeps his legs shut if he plays!
Seeing as United put up a very good fight at Stamford Bridge yesterday, which Liverpool failed to do at their own home, i'll go for a tight United win on this one. Although Morientes may make a difference, so would Rio Ferdinand and Giggsy.

Liverpool are difficult at home . So I reckon a 0-0 draw.

No need to provoke him.
Liverpool will get a 1-0 victory or a 1-1 draw.
Apperantly Moro might make his debut. Not sure if that's been said or not.
300 for man u ! ( prays hard )

Do you think these bets are sometimes a popularity contest? I mean Liverpool aren't gonna beat United, but I just want them top so much I put a G on the Pool.
Come on man utd!! 4000 on man utd to win
Liverpool 2-1 Manchester Utd with Nando scoring the winner ;-)

Now that i know El Moro is eligible to play i've stuck 400 on Liverpool. I know it may seem as if i'm judging Liverpool as a team of individuals but i'm not. I mean to say that if Morientes has one chance, he'll score it. He's a natural finisher.
Plus with Kewell down the left whipping in balls he's bound to apply his best trade...Heading!
C'mon Liverpool....
P.S. Has anyone else ever felt a if it's a moral obligation to hate Man United...?

I have actually.
It doesn't matter to me any more who they play, I go for the other team.
They just seems like asses. :D
I didn't know Kewell was playing.
I thought he was still out for another 2 weeks or something..

I didn't either, it's the first I have heard of him playing. However, Giggs may be back for Man U. This could be too close to call, it's bound to be a tight one, I fancy a draw, unless Morientes and Baros can instantly click together.
Playing PES4 on 6* as Liverpool, I beat Man U 7-2 earlier, with Morientes grabbing a hat-trick, and Baros a brace. I wonder what the odds of that would be? :D

Giggs does very well when he plays.
I enjoy watching him on the team.
Maybe Fletcher as well for some reason.
Anyways, 5/1 odds that Moro scores...!!! Did you hear that?
Crazy.
He hasn't played a full game since being with Monaco, and people are already saying he will score the first goal.
Wild.
:D
I don't think he has practised with the team either.
So him and Baros had better be talking and becoming very close so tomorrow they play well together. Maybe their soul mates?!

Fletcher put in the best performance I have ever seen by him against Chelsea. He probably won't make the team though if Giggs is put straight back in.
That's a good point you make about Morientes. If he had been at Liverpool for a couple of weeks and been at full fitness, I would have fancied Liverpool to beat Man U, with it being at Anfield, but El Moro is bound to be a bit rusty, and it should take him a while to get into the game ( but fingers crossed, this will not be the case and he will score in the 5th minute like he did in my PES4 simulation earlier ;)).
Baros is said to be ecstatic by the Morientes signing and is hopeful it can become as good as his partnership with Jan Koller for Czech Republic. He says he sees a lot of similarities between Morientes and Koller.
The Baros/Morientes partnership definitely has amazing potential.
9-0 Traore gets 8, Moro pen.

Morientes had clicked in well at Monaco and he would surely repeat his fantastic season at Anfield as well. Not an immediate impact perhaps, but expect him to soon be among the goals.
I don't know whether it'll be wise to force him into the actiopn straightaway or not. I understand it's a tough game against United, but he hasn't trained a lot and is surely not ready to play a game after months of sitting out (except Sociedad).

1-2 for united.. rooney and saha to score
Liverpool 1 - 2 United
Scholesy hitting the back of net, then Gerrard equalising, and Saha showing his skill and scoring the winning goal :)

1 - 0 at half time.. Liverpool looking Shakey in Defense... united too to an extent but not as much as Pool.. it will be a great 2nd half..
I actually thought Giggs and Ferdinand were playing, or at least one would play.
Alonso's absence is gonna prove crucial for Liverpool, though now they're still controlling the play.
Once agan Dudek's howler gives United a victory at Anfield, it's the 3rd successive win in recent seasons for the Red Devils.
Brown got sent off :(
And what a pity Morientes didn't score on his debut. He could have made a sensational start, but on the pitch he looked well short of match action. Liverpool weren't wise to throw him into the game straightaway.
So, a losing start for Morientes...

United were piling the pressure when Brown was sent off..
Anyway what do you think of Rooney's winner??? ;)
rooneys winner was lucky due to a mistake by dudek, loving rooneys celebration in front of the kop and someone threw there phone at him. Overall Man utd were the better team controlled more possesion until brown got sent off, keane scholes both played brilliantly they won the midfield battle today, whole team played well.Oh and i won my bet :) figo10 you was very confident

A good performance for United. We had to dig deep and show character to keep the clean sheet after being reduced to ten men. I expected Liverpool to threaten Carroll's goal more than they did. Keano was unlucky to hit the underside of the bar with his half volley. I like to see him or Scholsey occupying the edge of the "D". It's something I'd like to pull off on PES too. I try hard to hit it first time on the turn from a cross or corner kick, all too often it sails into the high reaches of row Z.
Dudek will be angry to have conceeded a silly goal like that. That's five clean sheets in a row for United (mainly thanks to a certain refereeing decision against Spurs), It's a good time in the season to be hitting form although 11 points is a big deficit to try to crawl back from the Chelsea Allstars. Still, you never know - It's happened before and it's a funny old game after all.
Arsenal and Chelsea better not slip up anymore, who knows when United might ghost past them in the standings ;)

Well, no slipping up for Chelsea today. Frank Jnr. saw to that. Let's see if JJ and the boys can cause an upset at the Reebok. I can dream can't I?

Chelsea don't ever slip up :(
It's a bit early to throw in the towel altogether, but I really cannot see Arsenal or Man U catching Chelsea. They always seem to find a way of getting the result they need.
Man U have to beat Chelsea at Old Trafford, and then Arsenal have to beat them at Stamford Bridge, but even if that happens Chelsea still may be a point ahead. Doesn't look too promising at the moment.

Well sure, they're Arsenal's bogey team, the team which caused their 2002-03 initial title run to turn into a nightmare by claiming a 2-2 draw there, which stunned the Gunners.

Still not counting chickens though. You can't write Arsenal off till the final whistle.

Bolton 1 - Arsenal 0 (final score)
I wouldn't bulk buy the champagne just yet but it's a start. United victor at Anfield and Arsenal slip up in Bolton - Not a bad day
Happy Dreams!
yes seeing arsenal lose was a suprise-the same cant be said for almunia:) wat is it with goalkeepers who play for man utd and arsenal.Arsenals bogey team do it again.
Man Yoo can count themselves very lucky, they perform like that against a team who can finish, they lose 5-0. Liverpool were all over them.

It was a good match.
I enjoyed watching the match.
We should have won.
Lame goal by Rooney.
Dudek should consider retiring.
We should get a new keeper as well. Kirkland is out.
Lucky Man U.
Come on Chelsea, it's your turn to stutter ;)
I wonder why Dudek seems to be making mistakes against the same team every single time, maybe he is a ManU fan or he's being bribed ;)

 :p :D i think you're right!
He's gifted Forlan a double, Giggs a goal and now, Rooney scored a potshot.
And the howlers haven't just come against Manchester United, they time themselves just right as well, to become crucial goals, and coincidentally, all at Anfield...

Ferguson could sue you for that y'know.
United were the better team throughout the game. It was a much more convincing display than either Chelski and the Arse's trips to Anfield.

man u could have been the better team but i'm wondering what dudek has with man u... too much pressure maybe?
There's no answer to that... I guess you could put it down to him being unfortunate, or just being unlucky against United.
It's not like he HASN'T made blunders playing against other teams, it's just uncanny the way he has gifted us the game on the last few occasions.
I'd say the Forlan first goal was the worst blunder Dudek has ever made.
Forlan scoring...
I'd say the Forlan first goal was the worst blunder Dudek has ever made.
Forlan scoring...
Forlan did orite for us once he got going. once he scored his first goal he scored about another 9 or 10 if i can remember correctly but it doesnt take away the fact that it was a disgraceful blunder..
Man Utd dont pay Dudek money at all .....
*said too much..panics and does one*

Forlan scoring...
Well I can't recall an earlier blunder.
I am sure he has made mistakes before that though. Against Citeh and Pompey spring to mind.
Edit... Stretching my mind back, I remember a bad mistake Dudek made against Spurs in one of Houllier's first games in charge.
It just doesn't pay to be a keeper, getting blamed for all these blunders ;)

We might get a new keeper.
Woop woop. :D
He is young, I think his name is Carson from Leeds.
Then we might loan Harrison (3rd string Keeper) back to them.
Carson would be our back-up for Dudek, but I think that he should just take his place for a while.
:)
And what about Kirkland?
Is he out of favour as well??
Foxhound

i thought Carson is joining 'pool.. glad he snubbed chelsea
about kirkland.. he's an injury-prone
