I swear this game cheats....

I can swear on my grave that this game cheats... I'm playing on Normal in Div.3 now, and have bought Cruyff, Pele and Tostao. But can anyone explain why the defenders of Spartak Moscow can manage to keep up with Pele and get the ball by just put their foot out (a move I can't seem to do myself...)? And not to mention Frank Lebouf! Is there some kind of filter in the game so that the best players will not play at their best in the lower divisions and that they only show their true worth in Div.1?

And why do the other team's strikers just run straight through my defense and bounce of of my defenders (Passarella and Djelma Santos).

Is there something unnatural about the way the other teams play, or do I just suck?

The game does cheat, especially on extreme mode. You just have to figure out how to beat it. But normal mode is quite easy for most people.

Try playing players on better form arrows for more success.

Those Red,Green,Blue etc. arrows? Havn't really figured out what they mean... So in which order are they? Which arrow describes the best form?

Went bakrupt so I started over again... All the default players suck but do the arrows have a great impact even with these players?

Yes it does.

Red is best,
then yellow,
green.
blue is bad and
white/gray is worst.

It's best to play those on a better (more pointing up) arrow as they will play better and be more successful in what they do, passes, shots, dribbles etc.

Blue arrow is bad but someone like Shevchenko can still do well on it. If you play anyone on a white/gray arrow, they will suck big time so don't play them at all.

And keep an eye on the stamina/fitness bars too. The green ones next to the arrows. Rest players if they are on 1 bar and on 2 if possible so they get the bars back and play better.

Playing players in their preferred positions helps a lot too.

Designing your own formation would be a good option, so you know where everyone is.

You know, I've just started playing one-player on normal (been playing mostly two-player on easy), and I've never had a real problem with winning games and playing well. So I guess I have to start figuring out stuff and moves to improve my game. So anyone who helps out, thanks a lot.

By the way, what kind of defensive marking (zone, man etc.) and attack attitude do you use for your players (my team is 4-4-2, with 2 DMFs and 2 OMFs), and what strategy settings do you have on which button (i presume you pro playes don't use the semi-auto mode like I do, have to change to manual but I don't know which settings to use).
What does the "Normal" setting do anyway, does it neutralize the other strategy choices?

Yeah, i had a penalty awarded against me for a foul in the air......eve though their player won the ball and forced my keeper to make a save!

And yea i got a red card for a solider barge then a done a slide tackle it was in the box and i hit the ball didnt even touch the player at all then i slid then all of a sudden he just falls over and i get sent off and i let in a pen which won um the game!! ive also noticed they go really mad toward the end.... i was winning 3-0 and it was in the 80 min and all of sudden they scored 3 goals past me and nearly a 4th its strange that neva happens to me but i beat um at the end. It was a ml semi final!! :mad:

I'm playing PES2. Hopefully PES3 will have a more realistic take on speed differences and tackles etc.

By the way, as we are talking of red cards here, yesterday me and a friend played a game and our goalie came out and tackled the same player twice inside the penalty area in a period of 5 min! Of course he got sent off, but the wierd thing was that he got a yellow card the first time, but an automatic red card the second time. So it said that he had 1 red and 1 yellow card... I thought you could only get like another yellow card if you had one all ready, and not both a yellow and a red?

The game also gives you unrealistic faults like today I was whistled without even using X or [ ]....

u prob got an imediate red after the yellow casue it might have been a really bad tackel. Its happen to me be4 and it was a real bad tackle but it should go to another yellow card i agree. If u do 2 normal tackles then it'll be 2 yellows which means a automatic red if ya do 1 normal tackle then i'tll be a yellow but then if ya do sumting realy bad then ya get red after the yellow. Its abit confusing but its happened to me be4 !! :D

Sheri its Sheva, am a new entry. Do not understand which is weird in this. In reality, also, a player can have a straight red card after receiving a yellow, what explained above is perfectly right and realistic. The main goal, what we all want, is that this game get closer and closer to a real simulation of football, that's why we like it so much. In this vision, it seems sooo strange that
referees are not in the field, its a black stain in this fantastic gameplay. Hello everybody guys!

As in real game, referees can decide if using it or not, sometimes
they allow it, sometimes not. That's fine to me this!! hahahahaha

But on PES2, the advantadge rule is completely non-existent. Maybe he is playing on that?

But it is on PES3 and WE7, so it is more realistic in that sense.

Hey totally know what u mean Egophobia, but let me tell u it gets a lot harder when u get to the harder difficulties.

I find I usually start the season with guns blazing, and usually have a record of about P20 W16 D3 L1 with ten games left, usually hammering teams by at least 2 goals. Then, all of a sudden, my team gets really shit and slow (all on good fitness and form too), and I usually lose maybe 6 or 7 out of the last ten games.

Also, I have found my team doesnt do well in the ML Cup. Just coming off a 5-0 win at Arsenal in the league, I go and lose 6-1 to Chelsea in the first round of the cup. Weird eh?

Sometimes a whistle blows and my opponents get a free kick, for apparently no reason, am I missing something? Is it a foul away from the play or what? I don't think it's an offside call because the replay with yellow line isn't shown.

Also, is the advantage feature totally backwards or what?

And whats with the goalie on PK's? All we can use is the d-pad/analog stick, correct? Even when I guess right, my goalie can do this cute little cartwheel and come up short.

I actually didn't realize there were no refs until I read that post. Now it's going to bug me...

Egophobia - spartak moscow are immensely overrated in pes2. especially in defence - it may be their formation but they are really hard to break through and i know what you mean about just nicking the ball from your strikers feet .. its damn annoying :mad:

i read on another website that spartak have the best man-for-man squad - so they have the best average total attributes for each player (if you see what i mean :s)

also your 'teamwork' rating in ML games is very poor to start with once you buy a new player - it will no doubt improve over time but for the first few games you cant string two passes together cos the players never played together before - a bit like chelski

The game does cheat. How annoying is this right on pes4 i was bayern munich in german league, 6 stars, losing 0-1 to dortmund and near the end of the match they got a corner. I managed to break away for a counter attack with Ze Roberto, on red arrow, i was goin along the left wing high speed. Then Cristian Worns, known for his lack of pace, came up behind me, obviously with a rocket up his arse, sprinted in front of me, took the ball and lumped it upfield. frustrating!

Well i am sure games does cheat. I was playing against computer 5 stars and i was manU and the com was Real Madrid. First i got alot of chances and alot of 1 on 1 chance but all of them got straight on the post and 1 of it got saved by the keeper. We're 0-0 until 89 min when Zidane passed a nice 1 touch pass to ronaldo and ronaldo lobbed my keeper. Anger :mad
Have any 1 noticed that sometimes when you improve the stats of certain players they seems to even play worse. Like i was improving Sheva's shot acc :95, shot tech: 94 this accuracy got even lower then the oringinal one with shot acc: 93 shot tech: 89 (of course both red arrows). Fustrated
