well u scums have approached Ferdinand for 30 Mill......a bit pricey eh?
Well he is one of the best centre backs in the world- and judging by this season I'm not too surprised that the big two are interested in him. And I'm pretty sure he could leave for less than that because he only has one year left on his contract, and has not yet signed another one.

I don't want him at Madrid.
I don't like him as a player at all. I'd rather wait to see if Johnny gets better. He's too aggressive and dangerous, in my opinion, to play in La Liga.
Spaniards, Latin Americans, and Italians seem like the defenders for La Liga.

Woodgate, is way better than Rio, ask any Leeds Utd fan and they will agree with me, wouldnt mind the 2 of them though...
Ferdinand is better than Woodgate I think. This maybe down to the fact that Woodgate has never gone more than a year or two without a long stretch on the sidelines, and has therefore never really got going like Ferdinand has to improve. Like LosGalacticos said, look what happened to Man Utd's defence when Ferdinand was injured- they were shocking for a team of their standard. Maybe next season we could be saying the same thing about Woodgate- actually, definitely, because he can'tr possibly be any worse than Samuel this season- but I still think Ferdinand is better.

I prefer Rio too.
Woodgate hasn't played any match this season with Madrid and his transfer was paid with 24 milions euros if i'm not wrong, so I don't think he's a good signing.
Apart form that is said that his injutires are cronical.
There're a lot of roumors about the possibility of the signing of Henry for Barça. It should be great, but with Eto'o, Larsson and Maxi...where the hell is he going to play? You can count Maxi out cause he's probably gonna be ofered to several teams of La Liga, but anyway it seems difficult to have Eto'o and Henry in the same line up
I say bench Eto'o. Winning la Liga has gone to his head.
We saw what he can do without Xavi, Deco and Ronaldinho.
Jack shit.

Edit: Correction. He has finshed as the top scorer in La Liga.

He finished joint top with Henry in the race for the golden boot, well done to him.
How much did Villreal pay for him, I doubt it was much, bargain of the season.
too bad forlan didnt have such chances and such success at Man Utd
Anyway, Chelsea are linked to top La Liga marksman Samuel Eto'o have been rumoured to have proposed an offer.
They're using on-loan Milan striker Hernan Crespo, who scored twice in the Champions League final, and versatile defender William Gallas, plus a fair bit of cash.

Good for him. I'm happy he snatched it from under Eto'o's nose.

I hope they sell the bastard after such displays of unprofessionalism. I would take Crespo, Gallas (who will be quite happy playing in Oleguer's place) and a couple of mill over Eto'o any day.

Eto'o is easilly on the top five of goalers in Europe nowadays, and he's not only a striker, he's a playmaker too, so letting him go now should be a little disaster for us. I won't sell Eto'o under any condition. And my opinion is very similar to Laporta's opinion, so i don't think he's gonna let down barcelona.
Our attack is powerfull with Ronnie, Eto'o, Giuly, Larsson...
nah , dun sell him , he will be another thierry henry in the future
I agree with Kluiverte and Pier- he shouldn't be allowed to go, and he doesn't want to go either. Anyway, on the subject of Henry:
Barcelona's Brazilian wizard Ronaldinho has revealed that he would love the Catalan giants to sign Arsenal forward Thierry Henry.
Barca boss Frank Rijkaard has a glittering array of attacking talent at his disposal and secured the Liga title in stylish fashion this term.
An assault on the UEFA Champions League title is likely to be a primary objective for Barca next term and Rijkaard may be given the green light to raid the transfer market.
Ronaldinho has admitted he is utterly content at Camp Nou, but believes the team could be taken to the next level with the capture of Arsenal's jet-heeled forward Henry.
"Every team would like to have Thierry with them!" Ronaldinho told Le Parisien.
"When I watch all the players in the world, I tell myself he is really in Barcelona's image.
"We would hire him straight away.
"With his pace and technique, he is one of the greatest in the world.
"It would be a dream to see him with us and play with him."
At 28, Henry is approaching the peak of his powers and with the Frenchman having a further two years to run on his deal at Highbury, Arsenal are most unlikely to entertain any offers for their star striker.

Ludovic Giuly wants Barcelona to test Arsenal's resolve to keep Thierry Henry.
French ace Henry appears to be the footballer that Barcelona's current squad most want to see at Camp Nou next season.
Earlier this week, Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho admitted that he would relish the prospect of playing alongside Henry.
Fellow Barca attacker Giuly also wants Henry to don a Blaugrana shirt next season and feels the time could be right to tempt his international colleague to Catalunya.
Henry has two years remaining on his deal at Highbury and Giuly revealed he has discussed a move to Barcelona with the Gunners striker.
"I do not know if he will come here," Giuly told Sport. "But a few days ago he congratulated me on winning the league with Barca.
"Besides, when he came here for the Tsunami charity game he said to me that Barcelona is fabulous and magnificent.
"Now, as I say, I do not know if he will come here but he may because every player would like to join Barca. That is why it is difficult to play here.
"He still has a year left on his contract with Arsenal (sic) and he could leave this year or next year.
"He wants to try leagues in other countries and, above all, to win European trophies.
"He has won a lot of domestic honours with Arsenal but he needs to win some international ones now."

In other news:
Barcelona are set to sell Javier Saviola when he returns from Monaco next month, despite promising the striker a place at the club before he left last summer.
Barca president Joan Laporta told the former River Plate forward that he would be part of the Barca squad if he went out on loan for a season to Monaco, due to the club having too many non-EU players.
But the Catalan club's president has been told by coach Frank Rijkaard that Saviola does not fit into his plans.
The Dutchman wants a 22-man squad for the next campaign and would prefer to trade Saviola and Juan Roman Riquelme as a package if it would help land one of the world's top strikers.
Riquelme has spent two successful seasons on loan at Villarreal, but the Yellow Submarines are unable to sign him permanently due to his wage demands and he is set to return to Camp Nou in June.
If the pair are unable to be offloaded together, then Saviola will be the first to be shown the door with Liverpool, Valencia, Deportivo La Coruna and Atletico Madrid all having registered their interest.

i think betis wants riquelme's signature right ? i dunno if buying henry is such a good idea, i always think taht arsenal is the right team for henrybut then again , having henry in ur club for 3-4 years will be fucking great , trophies will pile up
I agree that Henry fits in to Arsenal's system of quick, fast paced attacking football, but he would probably fit in at Barca too because the style of football is very similar. And about Riquelme, he could end up at any club in the world how things are going, there must've been about 10 linked with him recently. But this was what was on skysports.com a couple of days ago about him.
Juan Roman Riquelme still does not know where his future lies.
The Argentine has sparkled during a two-year loan with Villarreal and now a host of clubs are ready to make Barcelona an offer for his services.
The midfield schemer will play his final game for the Yellow Submarines against Levante and victory will book them a place in the UEFA Champions League.
However, he is suffering from a knee injury so may not be able to start but he hopes to be involved at some point.
"It is very possible that this will be my last game at Villarreal," he said.
"I hope to have the luck to play at least a few minutes so I can say goodbye to the supporters from the pitch.
"I can only say what I have been saying since a year ago. I belong to Barcelona so I have to return next month to that team," he continued.
"I am very thankful to Villarreal because they have trusted in me and they have given me the chance to play football and I have enjoyed two wonderful years.
"Now I have to wait to see what happens and if on June 30 I am told that I have to go I will have to accept that decision.
"Barcelona hasn't said to me yet if they want me or not
"Anyway I prefer not to think about anything because I don't know where I will continue playing."

Gerard is going to sign for Monaco probably tomorrow, Riquelme and Saviola will sign for spanish clubs for sure, maybe Atletico de Madrid.
About Henry, can't imagine him in Barca with Eto'o, as they play very similar. Apart from that Eto'o is 24, younger and class, he has at least eight years of great football and hope he'll pass this time wearing the barca shirt. Laporta will revise his contract this summer. And will do the same with Deco, Xavi, Belletti and Ronnie.
they shoud try sign torres and Alex of psv , which i think could benefit their team really well

Henrik Larsson has agreed to two more years at Barcelona.
Henrik Larsson has announced that he has accepted Barcelona’s offer a new contract that will keep at the Camp Nou club until 2007.
The Sweden international joined the Catalan giants last summer and signed a deal for one year, with an option of a further season.
But after suffering a knee ligament injury that saw him miss seven months of the campaign, the club have given him the chance to stay for an extra year.
"It is a tantalising offer and I have decided to accept it," Larsson told Swedish newspaper, Helsingborgs Dagblad.
The 33-year-old added that he expects to have the deal completed by the end of this week.
Larsson returned to action for the final two league matches of Barca’s title-winning campaign as he appeared in the matches against Villarreal and Real Sociedad.
Despite fully recovering from the knee injury, Sweish coach Lars Lagerback did ont call him into the national squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Norway.

I read somewhere that Barcelona might want to trade Riquelme to Villareal for Diego Forlan.
Now that would be a glorious signing.
I'm sure Villareal would agree if we threw Eto'o or Saviola into the deal...

i agree sav is a ace player, but barca have loads of non EU players and they want some of them off there books. Maxi lopez would play more but barca have ronnie, etoo, edmilson, marquez, motta etc etc. Sav will leave in summer (hopefully to liverpool). Imagine Forlan at barca. Manu flop turns ace.
How much would saviola cost?
I'm sure Villareal would agree if we threw Eto'o or Saviola in the deal.
There's no way Laporta would sanction a deal to let Eto'o go. And before we all say how great Forlan is, we must wait and see if he's a one season wonder first.
i agree sav is a ace player, but barca have loads of non EU players and they want some of them off there books. Maxi lopez would play more but barca have ronnie, etoo, edmilson, marquez, motta etc etc.
That is the reason Riquelme, Saviola and Rochemback were loaned out and will probably be sold. But I do believe Edmilson has an Italian passport and Motta has a Spanish one.
And this sounds good.
Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has confirmed his interest in Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
Spanish sources have insisted for a number of weeks that Barca were intent on mounting a bid for the French star.
Both Arsenal and Henry have continually stressed for loyalty to each other, but like Real Madrid did with Patrick Vieira last summer - Barca will look to strain that relationship to the maximum.
Rijkaard has further fanned the speculation flames by admitting Henry was on his list of potential summer targets.
The Dutchman was asked about Vieira, with some reports claiming he could mount a bid for the Gunners skipper, but he replied: "No, I am only interested in Henry."
Barca are claimed to have already lodged a €24 million (£16 million) bid which was rejected out of hand earlier this month, but it is being reported that they are gearing up to double that offer within the next few days.

I think I've posted once or perhaps twice in this thread, and I probably wont post again for a very long time.
I simple wish to say:
I think you're an amazing football side and I enjoy watching Barca at every opportunity I get, but someone tell Joan Laporta that Thierry Henry is not for sale and to stop acting like Real Madrid did with Vieria!
Viva Barca!
I agree that there is about a 1% chance of Henry joining Barca, but if the sponsorship deal goes through then they'll have a hell of a lot of money, and there would be money to spend even without it. So I think Barca could possibly have the money, but Henry will probably rather stay with Arsenal.

Henry has stated time and time again that he has no desire to leave Arsenal. He has a British wife, he loves life in London, he is adored by everyone in England (even most United fan's like him) and he is Highbury's sweetheart if you will. He has absolutely no reason to leave, which makes me feel like Laporta is just trying to upset both Arsenal and Henry.
As for the sponsorship deal... I was told it was not going through, I will provide the link when I find it.
P.S. (Dundon's style) your sig is out of date.
Henry will probably rather stay with Arsenal.
I already said that he doesn't want to leave.
The sponsorship deal is now less likely because Laporta said too much, but it'll still probably go through.

As for the sponsorship deal..
Just found something about the Barca sponsor:
Beijing organisers deny shirt deal with Barcelona
BEIJING: Beijing Olympic organisers denied on Tuesday reports that they were negotiating with Spanish champions-elect Barcelona for a shirt sponsorship deal.
“The Beijing Olympic organising committee has never been in contact with Barcelona Football Club,” the Beijing Organising Commitee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) said in a statement.
“They are rumours about shirt sponsorship. It does not exist.”
Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta was in Beijing last week on business and the Financial Times in London said the 2008 Games organisers were the suitors for a shirt sponsorship deal.
Spanish media said it would be worth 19 million euros over five years.
Barca, one of the few top European clubs to resist lucrative shirt sponsorship in recent years, said on Monday that “the other party” would likely move to close the deal “in a few weeks.”
Last month English Premiership champions Chelsea agreed a contract worth 80 million euros over five years with Korean electronics giant Samsung while Juventus receive 22 million euros a year from Libyan energy group Tamoil. – AFP
That pic is just a edited one by someone and is fake.
That was posted by Penyon over at G4G.
It depends who you believe. Laporta or the Chinese government. And considering the bullshit politicians say, you probably should believe Laporta.
I could change my sig to:

Ballack to Barca? (http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=281878&CPID=22&CLID=178&lid=&title=Becker:+Ballack+could+le ave&channel=Spain)
I don't think he's needed, what with Xavi, Deco, Motta, van Bommel, Edmilson, Marquez and Iniesta already competitng for places in the midfield.

If you read the article, his agent says his preferred choice is Real because of the amount of Brazilians. Eh? At Real, there's Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and Luxemburgo, whereas at Barca there is Ronaldinho, Belletti, Edmilson, Motta, Deco (even though he plays for Portugal) and Sylvinho. Makes no sense. But if he is bright enough, he should realise Barcelona suits his preferences better, with more Brazilians. Good signing if he can be persuaded, but I'd rather Henry joins.
And if Henry did join, would he take Eto'o's place, play on the left and make Ronaldinho play on the right, or would he take Giuly's place?

There's no sense in signing Ballack now that we've Van Bommel for free.
About Henry, i suppose that Eto'o would play in the right, in the position that is taking Giuly. So it should be Ronaldinho on the left, Henry in the center attack and Eto'o on the right. ufffffff!
I think it'd be best for Henry to play on the left, because he always plays from the left anyway, Eto'o in the middle because he's a greedy striker and won't want to play anywhere else, and Ronaldinho on the right, because he's effective anywhere. But there's no point discussing this really, he'll stay at Arsenal.
Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has told Barcelona to forget about trying to sign Thierry Henry.
There is speculation that striker Samuel Eto'o could leave the Spanish champions after reports of a fall-out with coach Frank Rijkaard.
Rijkaard has admitted his interest in Henry, who joined Arsenal for £10.5m from Juventus in 1999 and scored 25 Premiership goals last season.
But Dein told BBC Radio Four: "Thierry Henry's our player and will remain so."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said he is keen to keep the bulk of his squad together.
He told the club's website: "I have not planned to buy too many and to be busy would mean we were under tremendous stress to sell players, which we don't want to do."

As former vice president Sandro Rosell handed in his resignation ,but as ''ronaldinho's closes allys'' there were some fers that ronaldinho may leave but Sandro Rosell has attempted to calm those fears by insiting ronaldinho will stay
It is now clear there is a huge internal conflict going on at the club that just won La Liga, a riff possibily caused by the shadow influence of Johan Cruyff who is officially not part of the club organization, but appears to be pulling the strings from behind the scenes.
“I leave Barcelona without regrets. I am sure I am helping president Laporta with this decision,” Rosell told reporters this morning.
“I sacrificed myself a lot for this project. Now I ask Laporta not to forget about the members of the club. We are the club, and those who elected Laporta, those who he owes something to,” he added.
The former vice-president was the one that brought Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho to the club in 2003, and the decision he took today might mean Ronaldinho could move away from the Nou Camp as a result, even though Rosell doesn’t think so.
“I don’t know if Ronaldinho knows about my decision. What I am sure of is that he won’t leave, he is too important for Barca,” he said.
The number of goodbyes on behalf of members of the Barca management has now reached three in the space of week.
Tuesday the medical staff director Jordi Mones left the club as a result of differences with chairman Laporta.

The latest rumour in England is that Cole won't extend his contract due to the whole tapping up thing.
He has two years left on his contract so if Arsenal want to get some (big) money for him this would be the ideal time to sell him (the longer they wait the less they can ask for him).
btw: Cech would be a great keeper for Barca but I did not mention him because I don't think Chelsea will let him go.

Henry stays at Arsenal, it was on the news yesterday. Arsenal confirms that Henry will be staying at Arsenal for the coming season.
They may say that, but if the right amount of money is offered....
About Garcia, he wouldn't be a regular starter at Barca, because the front three of Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Giuly did well this season (apart from Giuly who was off form in the middle of the season), but he would be a good reserve an would've played some part during the season, especially when the injury crisis was at it's worst around Christmas.
If I was Laporta I would try make a move for Ashley Cole! His not having the best of time at Arsenal at the moment and a move to Chelsea is very unlikely, lol it would also mean arsenal have supplied all our left backs

i would love to see ashley cool in barca, i think our defence needs to be tougher, we got a great attack
At the moment I think the money would best spent elsewhere, what with Gio and Sylvinho already covering left back, but he's said he is definitely not going to renew his contract at Arsenal and he's not going to play for another Premiership team so possibly when his contract's up he'd be a good signing. But after the Spain v England game he might want to stay away from Spain because of the racism.

A question to all you Barça fans, if you had to sign a goalkeeper , defender and attacking player who would be your choices? Ok I know you all love Valdes but I still have my doubts.
Keeper: I really like Valdes. He is definitely Barcelona stuff.
Defender: Most assuredly Kompany.
Attacker: I think Forlan would be great for us. They should trade him for Riquelme and Saviola.
I would really like for us to get vincent Kompany, I mean I havent seen much of him but what I have seen his gonna be a great centre back in the future, I'm not sure about forlan tho.... I mean its only been one season if he can do it again then yeah and also how much would he cost?

Did you people read of hear that Marco van Basten "kicked" van Bommel out of the Dutch squad for the international game against Finland?
He "accused" him of not performing the tasks he gave him, so he told him he was out of the squad for the next game. Two newspapers (serious newspapers no tabloids) over here claimed that van Bommel might quit the Dutch team for good.
Well on the bright side, he will at least be on time for the press conference on Friday in Barcelona :-)

That is true. But to avoid that van Basten only selected players of which he thought they would cause no problems (i.e. not selecting Seedorf and Kluivert).
But we should have seen this coming as van Basten never really showed that he liked the "footballplayer" van Bommel. But he could not leave him out of the squad seeing how well he played for PSV, but now he finally got his excuse (due to his performence on saturday) and got rid of him.

I agree I would also like to see him at Liverpool, better keep on dreaming I guess?
I think Barca will use Saviola (and Riquelme) in a swap deal for Torres. From what I read Saviola and Riquelme would love to work with Bianchi.
I think they have rated Saviola around € 10m (will probably be less).
i want saviola to leave and move to liverpool!! lol he may join athletico i heard

Probably around £5-10m.
As for the ideal players:
Goalkeeper- Iker Casillas. I see nothing wrong with Valdes, but if Barca were to sign another keeper I'd like it to be him. He's a great keeper, kept Real in games this season and it would be great to piss them off like this by stealing in my opinion their player of the season, and weaken them in the process.
Defender- Rio Ferdinand. He is a top defender, and probably wouldn't cost too much because his contract is up next summer. He is big, quick, strong, good in the air, good at tackling and for a centre back, can play decent football too. Between him and Puyol, I can't think of any qualities the two of them both lack.
Attacker- Thierry Henry. He would cost an arm and a leg, but he's worth it. Him, Eto'o and Ronaldinho would tear any defence in the world apart with their speed and skill. The only problem is that Arsenal wouldn't want him to go, and he wouldn't want to leave Arsenal.

Well against Romania Van Basten told him to cover Munteanu so he could not build up the attacks, but Van Bommel did not do that. It didn't lead to any danger, but he should have done the task he was given.
They have had this discussion previously and I suppose this was the final drop.
What do you think about him as footballer Solid Foxx¿?
I personnaly think Van Bommel is a great player, he is strong, he has a great shot, his passing is also good and he can disrupt attacks from the opposing teams. I would compare him to Roy Keane.
But I agree with Van Basten that he does sometimes (he does it less than he used to) lets his defensive duties slip. That is his only weak spot.

Nigel de Jong (he replaced van Bommel on saturday against Romania) is more comparable to Davids.

Well I think De Jong is close to the level of Van Bommel but the only thing he lacks is the experience.
But then again it says something about the qualities of a player if the national team coach prefers a 20 year old over an experienced player like Van Bommel (who is 28).

I'm not too sure about Joaquin. He's a great player, but then again so is Giuly, and I'd rather Laporta decide to spend all the transfer budget on Henry.
Not too sure about Riquelme, he could've done a good job as a back up, but he'd probably not be too happy about that. He was marvellous against Brazil the other night, not just the goal, put through a few good balls for the strikers. I've heard about the deal but not the transfer fee- €5m? Barcelona midfielder Xavi has agreed terms on a new contract with the Catalan giants.
The Spain international has arrived in the Far East with his team-mates for a two-game tour of Japan.
Chelsea were linked with Xavi earlier in the season and Barca have moved to kill off speculation regarding his future.
Xavi's agent Ivan Corretja met with club director Txiki Beguiristain on Friday to finalise a deal following an initial meeting on Tuesday.
It took just a few hours to trash out a deal that will see Xavi commit himself to the club until the summer of 2010.
The deal will see the 25-year-old nearly double his current salary while also raising his release clause to a staggering €35 million.
The news of Xavi's new deal is good news for coach Frank Rijkaard who is keen to tie down his key players on long-term deals.

Yup, it was that documentary. And although I think Torres is a decent player, really good for the future, I don't really want him at Barca, because he's similar to Eto'o, i.e. they are strikers and can not really play in the Giuly/Ronaldinho position. I doubt Rijkaard would change the formation, so if Torres joined either he'd be on the bench and be a waste of money, or Eto'o would be on the bench and become unsettled. But I believe Torres once said the only other Spanish club he'd play for is Barca, so it could be a possibility.

Do you think Gallas could be a good signing? I'm not sure he can be good for the team... I post that because there've appeared roumors about an offer of 15 milion euros from Barca...
If Betis recieve a decent offer which they think is good enough, then he'll be stuck between a rock and a hard place. He'll either move away and be called a liar as Muad said, or the directors will force him out.
As for Gallas, €15m? That's a bit much. He's a good player who I'd like to see at Barca. If Riquelme is worth only €5m, then Gallas could only be worth €2m. Although unfortunately, Riquelme was cheap because he's not needed, whereas Gallas is probably wanted by a club in no position to sell, so he'll be worth than Riquelme was, which is ridiculous.
The price depends on the contract really. Riquelme was cheaper because i think he is still partly owned by Barcelona. As for Gallas i think he would be one hell of a sub. But somehow i doubt theyll buy him. We have Edmilson and Puyol and Marquez to play in those positions. If they do sign Gallas then Oleguer can kiss his playing days goodbye, which i would really love. No offense to the guy but he can go play with some other inferior team which is where the man belongs.
Alot of talk now about Baptista again, also Marquez could be thrown into the transfer. Baptista looks likey to move, and from reading the Spanish press its either Barça or Real Madrid. I'm a fan of Baptista but I just don't think his what barça needs right now. Your thoughts?

Actually, Baptista suits Barca's needs much better than you think. Very few Barca players can head the ball properly, and the team basically lacks a physical presence in attack. That's what the Beast should be bought for.As for Gallas,he's Chelsea's most underrated defender. He's much better than Carvalho,Marquez and Oleguer.Even when he was played at left-back, he was still the wall he's always been for the Blues.
actually people like baptista will be very good for barca's midfield , but the sad part is , where can we put him in midfield ? it's fully booked ... i dun mind him as a striker if we cant get henry or torres , but i think strikers like henry , torres and a right midfield like joaquin are top priority . then we can buy baptista

you know baptista is more of a striker now a reported reaplacement for et'oo as Rjkaard is supposed to be runing out of paitenece with him
He aint the only one...
I doubt we will sign Baptista.
We got a few people who are good in the air. Larsson, Maxi, Motta, Edmilson and Ronnie is not bad in the air either.
We won against another Japanese club today. Urawa i think they are called...Goals by Xavi and 2 by Larsson. Larsson is playing really well and Deco played brilliantly. Gabri is also on form.

Why signing Baptista if we already have Xavi, Deco, Motta, Van Bommel, Iniesta?
Eto'o has said today that he just wants to play for Barca and Laporta is going to trip to Cameroon this weekend for closing the new contract with eto'o. He's, for me, one of the best strikers in the world nowadays and he'd staty with us for years all along Ronnie and co.
Great success for Barca in his Japan Tour altought Ronnie, Eto'o and Puyol didn't trip, people was crazy singing the anthem in catalonian!

certainly seems like there could b a chance that torres leaves atletico this summer, though he may want to stay to see what the new coach can do

IMO you can't compare Eto'o and Torres, Eto'o is miles away from Torres. I think that roumour is more a desire form the people of As (a madridista newspaper) than a reality.
I think and hope that Samuel is going to stay a lot of years wearing the barca shirt.
Eto'o is most certainly staying. I think that Torres will not leave Atletico because management is being changed and Barcelona are likely to sell or loan Saviola to them.
A Torres and Saviola partnership might be very effective indeed.

Absolutely agree, Torres and Saviola are complementary and they can work great together next season in Atletico.
Deco signs new contract (http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=285133&cpid=23&CLID=178&lid=&title=Deco+commits+to+Barca&channel=Spain)

I'm not too sure about this. If he signs a deal for 10 years which is being talked about, he will probably stay at Barca for the duration, which at the moment looks great. But if something unexpected happens after two or three years of the deal, like he gets a bad injury or a collection of injuries and his performance level drops, then he'll still earn a hell of a lot of money for a long while despite not being good enough to earn it. But maybe I'm being pessimistic.

The new contract for Deco is great, what a great palyer he's! Apart form that has been revealed that he has received an offer from Chelsea that he's refused.
About the deal for life of Ronaldinho, is difficult to analize but the first impression is great, enjoying Ronaldinho for ten years more should be great, and looking the kind of person he's i think won't be many problems with him. Maybe a five years contract should be more realistic and solid.
Deco is going to be ours for 10 years!. I couldnt help but smile when i read the news. I hear he is priced at 75 mil at the moment. And Ronnie and Xavi are staying for sure as well for a long time now. Glory will be ours for many years to come.
I saw this in the paper today:
West Brom boss Bryan Robson has launched an ambitious bid to sign Barcelona's Argentinian striker Javier Saviola.
I think that's bullshit. Not only would he not go to play for a team like West Brom when there are better teams interested and the language barrier, the article is so small (yes that was it) they'd have made more of it if it were true.
I doubt he will go to a small englich club, no offense, when he is going to get offers from, most probably, the biggest clubs in europe.
He's reportedly recieved an offer from Atletico.

It's good news that Eto'o has signed a new contract, of course it is. He is a decent player, but he just needs to finish a little better because he can be a little erratic at times, plus he should not be so selfish. That is usually a good thing in a striker, but I think he takes it too far.
Anyway:
Laporta rules out Henry bid (http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=286533&CPID=8&CLID=178&lid=&title=Laporta:+No+Barca+bid+fo r+Henry&channel=spain)
Shame. He'd be great at Barca, I think Laporta should at least try to get him.

Oh well. He's already in his early twenties and he wasn't a superstar on loan at Levante this season. Get a bit of money for him and that'll be great.

Precisely. He tends to hug the ball and completely slow down the attack. Sometimes he does shine. But you must admit that he scored all those goals mainly because he was being fed balls by brilliant midfielders. Dont get me wrong. He is a good striker but i just think he gets to play too much for his own good. And i did not like his attitude at all at the end of the season...specially the face he made when Giuly scored the last goal.
true true , i say if there's no brilliant assisters like barcelona's midfield , eto'o wouldnt even have the chance to score so many goals .

true true , i say if there's no brilliant assisters like barcelona's midfield , eto'o wouldnt even have the chance to score so many goals .the same principle could be applied to the horse at Man Utd, it's no coincidince he hasn't been scoring as many goals as of late due to him missing Beckham for the last 2 years, and having Ronaldo who's final delivery isn't on the same standard... as with Beckham he knew he was getting quality 99 times out of 100 deliverd.....
loving the yellow kit.... although i don't like the read shorts as well... although i would love Thierry to come to my Barce.... it just won't happen, if Arsenal rejected 70 million from Chelsea, they won't accept any offer from Barce

I think Ronnie can be a standar in the Barca history all along with Deco, Eto'o and company. maybe saviola is goin on loan to sevilla and gets a deal next year. that means baptista is coming next year to barca, they get first hand on him if saviola is movin to sevilla.
Why is Owen needed? There is already Eto'o, Larsson and Lopez, plus Saviola and Sergio Garcia who are not needed and not wanted, and the money would be better spent on a position that isn't already so full.
Saviola wanted by a few clubs (http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=290185&CPID=8&CLID=&lid=10&title=Boro+fail+with+Saviola+b id&channel=spain)
Good, good player. Will probably go for a lot less than he's worth, because he's not needed and other clubs will take advantage of that, sort of like what happened with Riquelme. Better than Maxi in my opinion, who I don't really rate that highly, althoguh he is good to have on the bench because if things aren't going good, just launch the bvall onto his head.

Baptista is a great player and I feel good be a good addition to the squad. There are a couple of problems though, first of all where he'd play. He wouldn't be used in his old position of defensive midfield I don't think, and Rijkaard doesn't like playing with a central attacking midfielder. Also, he has not yet got a European passport, so that could be a problem. Also, who would be dropped for him to play, or would he be a sub? That would be great strength in depth, but still, I don't think paying about £10m-£15m (which is what Sevilla wanted from Arsenal) would be worthwhile. Next year though he could leave Sevilla for a nominal fee, and he'd have an EU passport, so I think possibly waiting 12 months would be better.

It's said in the press that he's signed a pre-contract with Barca for next year, when he'll be european by getting his passport, and he'll come for free as he finishes contract next year and he don't want to renovate with Sevilla as he's already said. Ezquerro got injured before the match and he'll be about three weeks out of the team.
