Hmmmm, i hear Maxi Lopez is linked with a loan move to Rangers. I would like to see him at Ibrox, but not too sure on his performances right enough as i havn't seen much of him. Anyone care to shed some light on his performances on the pitch ?
He is good in the air and a relatively good shot and passer. I think he just tries too hard.

Maxi Lopez is pretty strong too, and not too slow either, just not sure about his movement at the top level.
He needs more games to show his potential.
He is a physical presence, with not much skill. He'd fit right into the SPL ;)

Absolutely. Don't know why but i'm quite confident on him and i think he'll become a good player in one or two years if he can develop his skills by playing each week, so a loan will be the best for Maxi.
I was just browsing eurosport-text and i read that Larsson wants to leave at the end of the season.
that's pretty strange , i thought larrson is happy and enjoynig himself in barcelona, oh well, more chances for ezquerro , maxi and messi to shine
He's getting on a bit now (34 I believe) so it's not a bad thing. It's best if he goes before he turns into a useless waste of space.
Yes. I think its safe to assume that if he leaves Barcelona it's to retire from footie all together.
Yes. I think its safe to assume that if he leaves Barcelona it's to retire from footie all together.
Not necessarily:
..."Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson will decide over Christmas whether to extend his stay at the Nou Camp beyond the end of the campaign.
The Swede's contract expires in the summer and while the club has already offered him an extended deal, he has yet to make a decision over his future.
Larsson has been a bit-part figure since arriving at the Spanish giants in the summer of 2004 and has never been able to force his way into the team ahead of Samuel Eto'o.
Injuries have limited his availability, however.
"It is true that I will decide in the next few weeks if I will take the option of renewing my contract with Barca but this does not depend on whether I am playing or whether I will play more," Larsson wrote on his own website.
"It will be a personal decision about how my family feels and what I can give to Barca."
According to his agent Rob Jansen, if Larsson walks away from Barca it will not be to go to a rival.
"Larsson has this year and one more of a contract (the extension offer from Barcelona) but all depends on what the player wants to do and also the plans of the club. We have not spoken yet because the pact is made, not written but spoken. Larsson knows that it is the best club in the world," he said.
"When he leaves Barca he will drop top-class football and return to Sweden. Larsson is very happy at Barca and does not plan to go to another club."

I bet for Larsson staying one more year in the Nou Camp, the crowd is supporting him always and in a very special way and he seems to be very happy in the team.
Apart from that he knew that he was gone to stay on the bench when he arrived as it was revealed on the press, anyway he always plays on the second halfs and is a good tactic solution for Rijkaard as he's a classic striker that keeps possesion and open spaces for his mates perfectly.
Great Larsson! I adore him.

Nah, use just edged it last season but this season is a totally different matter. Barca are running the show in the champions league this season. All their players are pulling out top drawer performances. Ronaldinho will pull off his superb tricks again and Eto'o will banging them in:tongue: A shame Xavi won't be playing though, so i suppose use have a slight chance of pulling off a draw.

I reckon that Barca are the only team in the world at the moment who are better than Chelsea. It's a shame really that one of the ebst two sides have to go out. Barca are playing better football at the moment, but each team's form will be slightly different come February though.

Yeah...although i would put Milan in that group aswell.
I wouldn't, not judging by current form anyway, they're not even in the top 3 in Serie A.
I'm glad the first leg is being played in Stamford Bridge. All we need is to draw there. I dont think they will have much of a chance in the Camp Nou, although they are not to be underestimated. I'm sure they are more uneasy right now than we are.
That was fate. When they had the practice draw it came up with Barca-Chelsea and then it was the first game out.
But still I believe that Chelsea are beatable as long as all the big players have a good game. It will also be interesting to see how Messi plays.
we can beat chelsea easily!!i...have....FAITH!!
Barca vs Cadiz tonight, kick off at 2100 should be a win.
I see Ronaldinho is missing tonight, can anyone inform me of his injury?
Flu, nothing serious. 2-0 first half, hasnt been the best football. Not sure whats up with Deco tonight keeps losing and giving the ball away. I'm hoping we step it up a gear next half. 4-0 final score....I hope.
Goals from Guily and an Eto'o penalty.

Good to hear that it's only flu, looks like you've coped well enough without him though.
Looks like your prediction may be correct aswell, as Eto'o adds a third early in the second half.
3-1. Would of liked a cleansheet but can't complain.Deco had a better second half. Messi is class.
Messi is fantastic. He got a standing ovation from the Cadiz supporters as he was being substituted!
Twas our twelveth consecutive victory. A club record i believe. Too bad Dinho wasnt there to bathe in such historical glory.

Next game Celta at home tuesday night, they have been playing well lately but they lost this weekend 3-0 at home against Depor so should be another 3 points for the mighty Barça.
Actually, it wasn't the first time Barca have won 12 on the bounce. In the 20s they did it twice, only over a span of two seasons. This is the first time however they have won 12 in a row in one season.
Yeah well done Barca for equalling the record and now we just have to hope we get the record.

Clearly the best in the World. Barça Vs Celta tonight, predictions? I'm going for a 2-0. Dinho only arrived back today from collecting his award, had some plane trouble last night. Should be in the starting line-up. Visca Barça.
I'm guessing itll be a 3-1. Baiano migth give us a scare by equalizing. Which will only infuriate our guys who will in turn be forced to teach them a footballing lesson. Namely - Why you should not to piss off Barcelona at home before the holiday.
Good prediction Latinomig23. Baiano nearly gave them a fright but that only gave Barca the kick up the arse to step it up. 2 quality goals from Eto'o, his finishing is getting better and better. Good to see Iniesta starting to do the Xavi job. Creating chances for our forwards. Good luck to Eto'o in the Africans cup.Barca will miss him,but Larsson or Maxi (if he stays) will continue Barca's good form.
what can i say...? they are one of my favourite club team! i hope they could beat chelsea in the UEFA champions league and proof that money is not the way to victory!

You ought to outbid Real Madrid for Cicinho. With the right kind of stratospheric price tag he would be hailed as the new Pele, and the second Christ. Osasuna will struggle in the new year due to the size of their squad. I fully expect Barcelona to open up a lead over everyone between now and the matches with Chelsea.
Osasuna are playing well, they're rotating their team so they don't tire near the end of the season, and they got knocked out of the UEFA Cup early on, but I still doubt they will last the pace. Just don't have the quality to do a Sociedad.
Don Sweey

Everyone other than Barcelona is struggling for consistency. It'll be interesting to see how it goes in the New Year - over in Italy, for example, Capello's teams are known to start January and possibly even February very slowly which is what the rest of the league are pinning their hopes on in a bid to catch Juventus.
Luca Toni's stated the obvious today - Barcelona are the best in the world and he'd move there in a flash if they wanted him.
Everyone other than Barcelona is struggling for consistency.
Agreed to an extent, but Osasuna are an exception- keeping pace with Barca, still only two points behind, and they've won their last nine home games.

Of course, but we're all expecting Osasuna to struggle at some point, whilst the others are having to come from such a long way back they're going to find it extremely difficult.
Well, he's better than Maxi.
No surprise there!
The club has confirmed that they want Henry. Larsson is leaving and Maxi is going on loan. That means that if Henry decides to come, which would honestly be a good move, then Eto'o will be benched! When that happens he will bitch about it and be faced with two clear choices. Leaving or shutting the fuck up and assuming the role a player like him should play to begin with; that of a substitute striker, imho.
I dont dislike him but i think that we should have someone like Henry who is by miles more reliable.
EDIT: I'm referring to next year not this next transfer window.
Would Eto'o be benched though? Would he not still play as the lone striker, Henry on the left, and Ronaldinho on the right?
Don Sweey
23-12-2005, 09:35
I wouldn't agree with the decision to bench Eto'o for Henry - as a coach its not something I would do at Barcelona either. I understand that, without the level of service he's getting, he wouldn't be quite as good as he is now, but there's a few strikers you could say that about - Toni for example - whereas others (Gilardino) are better with crap service (his Parma days)
puff, I wasn't a huge fan of Eto'o but he has improved on alot of things this year. Yes Henry is better but Henry wouldnt work in the middle of the trio IMO. Dinho isn't as good when put on the right of the trio, he works best either on the left or middle, Messi on the right or middle. For me only Eto'o is the one who can play in all 3 posistions and do a good job in all 3.
Rangers_Fureva
23-12-2005, 09:37
Personally i wouldn't like to see Eto'o benched. He's the leading goalscorer in La Liga this season, you don't just bench someone like him for Henry, yes he's one of the best strikers in the world but you don't sign someone and bench your top striker for him. If Henry was to come i'd do what Yossi said, play Henry out left, Eto'o through the middle and Ronnie out right.
Latino Mig- I agree that he has improved a lot, and I feel that he is much more economical now, he doesn't waste as many more chances as he did last season. I disagree however about him being able to play anywhere across the front line.
Rangers- I didn't say I want to see that happen, I just said that it's what I'd expect to happen.

Whilst Ronaldinho is certainly good enough to play on the right, I wouldn't touch his role at all. It'd be up to others players to fit in around him, but hey, I'm not Rijkaard with the cool hair, good character and footballing expertise.
Ronaldinho though doesn't seem to have a best position. He could play in any attacking role in any formation and be the star player.
Yes. What Yossi says makes a lot of sense.
Eto'o has scored many of the goals from the penalty spot, btw. And he wasnt the one to win the penalties in most cases. It was Deco, Ronnie and Messi mostly. Eto'o isnt that great when coming from the flanks. He is good at two things, that one. Reacting and stealing lose balls. Probably the quickest and best there is at that. He is also an excellent shot and has proven that he can head it in but he lacks vision and isnt great when it comes to one touch passing. He tends to hug the ball and breaks the momentum of the plays. And he is too selfish...
Ronaldinho though doesn't seem to have a best position. He could play in any attacking role in any formation and be the star player.
So true.
Personally I wouldnt be to fussed if we didn't get Henry just as long as he doesn't go to Real. If he was to come it would surely mean Messi playing less games which I don't want to see.
I agree exactly. It would be nice to have him, but the money would best be spent on a world class defender, or possibly even defensive midfielder.
Yes, yes. Bring Kompany or Gallas is what i say!

Now Eto'o is probably the best striker in Europe nowadays, why the hell he's to be benched??? We don't need more forwards as we've the best attack in Europe with Ronnie, Messi and Eto'o, wah ythe hell we've to sign more attackers?? I think that we need a left and a right backers and a a good central back. I agree with you Yossi and Latincoming, Gallas and Kompany will make us more stronger in defense and that's what we need to be the best team in Europe (if we're not already) for the next years.
Hope Laporta don't become another Florentino Perez and start signing "galacticos" with no sense. We need to make our defense stronger as we've the best attack.

Thats what i've saying all along. He has proven his worth as right back yet they insist on using him elsewhere. He could play a defensive role in midfield but he is too hotheaded for that.
I hope we sign Gallas or Kompany or any good defender. But i have a feeling that Rijkaard and Laporta will go for a substitute striker for Eto'o. Larsson is definitely leaving and Maxi will go on loan for a long term just like Simao, Rochemback and Quaresma did for some time before they were sold. Did we sell Quaresma? That was such a mistake.

Quaresma was really good, he must've had a stinking shit personality or something.
He hadnt blossomed yet and was a bit selfish when he played for us. He turned out to be one hell of an asset. I think we sold him to Porto as part of an exchange deal for Deco. A great deal if you ask me.

That Giovanni is impressive, see him on the under 17 tournament and he's superclass, can't wait to see him with the first team.
Another Leo Messi is coming... we're lucky.
Our youth system is one of the best. We have a team for the future. Not like that team in white from Madrid.
I first heard of the guy about a year ago, but I didn't know much about him besides the fact he was a young attacking midfielder in the Barca youth system.
A few months back, during the World Under 17 Championship, he actually made the headline on the back of the paper over here, because Man Utd and Arsenal wanted to steal him as they are allowed to offer him a professional contract a year earlier than any team in Spain could (why they got Fabregas and Pique).
Anyway, I then saw part of the final of the competition, and he really caught my eye, along with Vela, the striker who subsequently joined Arsenal. He played for the winning team, and he was the best player in that team, you could see that because his teammates were giving him the ball at every opportunity. He really does look a special player.

For me is a great new as i've said some times before and i really think that we've to make a stronger defense and don't turn our club in another galactico's no sense bunch of players.
Yes, although on pro Barça would be awesome with Dinho, Eto'o and Henry. We don't really need him. As the old saying goes "Too many cooks spoil the broth" fits perfectly for Real. Ok they had a good 3 years but now look at that them.

Yeah it would be awesome but i think that Messi neither Eto'o deserves to be on the bench, it only will create problems imo.
I'd like to see Terry here, but that's impossible. What defenders you like to wear our nice t-shirt?
I'm a fan of Andrade, strong and fast. Terry's great too but like you said never going to happen. I would like a new right back more then anything. Javier Zannetti 10 years younger would be great :D

Andrade is a good option, what about Perea from Atletico de Madrid? Puyol - Perea should be a great defense with Marquez playing as defensive midfielder. A good right back should be Alves from Sevilla, a really good player. We need too a good left right back, Ashley Cole should be a good signing...
Yeah I like that Perea. Yup good point Daniel Alves looks good. We can manage with Gio and Sylvinho for the moment but cole would be brilliant on the left working with Dinho.
I just read that Larsson seems will be leaving us in the summer. He wants to go back to Sweden. Best of luck to him. When I think about it, Henry, could be good. We could do a rotation with the front 3. Meh nah lets not be spoilt brats, and share the best players with other teams.
I heard that Larsson is leaving Barca next summer, true?

Great.
Word on the street, Barça could be interested in Luca Toni. Haven't seen much of him but to be top goalscorer ,so far, in Italy is impressive. But then if Inzaghi can score there, can't be that hard.hehe I kid I kid. I'm not sure how much we should believe this rumour but I wouldn't mind seeing Iaquinta in a Barça shirt next season.
I doubt he'd want to sit on the bench at Barca and wreck his chances of going to the World Cup.
Opps forgot to mention, this would be in the summer. After the world cup, once Larsson is gone. I dunno even knowning he might be on the bench the chance to play at Barcelona would be hard to resist in my opinion.
Larsson will be leaving for sure. He said it a while ago and he is saying it now. Luca Toni has been talking about wanting to come to Barcelona. He is in his thirties, no? I reckon he wouldnt mind doing what Larsson has been doing for the past year. He sounds like the logical replacement. But if Maxi does well when he goes in January they might not get anyone and just bring him back and use him as a sub for Eto'o.
I would like to see Kompany in Barcelona. He is a big lad and very skilled. I dont think it's possible, but i would prefer someone like Gallas.
I like the Andrade and Perea options a lot but i dont think their clubs will let go of these two either.
I'm quite happy with our fullbacks. They arent very good defensively but they do well in the attacking plays. Sylvinho is very talented as well.
Maybe we could sign Diogo? Madrid have their beloved Salgado and have signed this Cicinho so maybe they are not too happy with the Uruguayan. I think he would be a good signing.

Good video albeit the shity quality. It brings back fond memories. We've had so many of the most legendary players that ever lived.
I'm not a big fan of that Diogo seen him play a few times, crossing is poor. Luca Toni is 28 so his still got many years ahead. We still need another striker I feel 2 isnt enough, maybe someone that can play in all 3 posistions of the attack or a forward/midfielder. Someone versitile.
We have Ezquerro...
lol. His ok, but I'd like someone with a bit more class to be honest. For me his a player I wouldnt really care to see leave. Just like Valdes, Gabri and Oleguer. But to be honest if its not broke.....;)
Leave Valdes out of that list! He is a solid keeper, regardless of that silly move he did in front of Villa.
How about Ryan Babel? He would put Giuly out of the job.
Yeah he looks like good prospect. And to be honest Giuly could of went on my list. Not a fan. His either hot or cold. I guess not playing regulary is the reason. I just hope we buy wisely again. I'm off to bed, maybe more gossip tomorrow. Take it easy fellow culé.
I'm quite happy with our fullbacks. They arent very good defensively but they do well in the attacking plays. Sylvinho is very talented as well.
But the fullbacks priority is to defend. If I had a choice between a fullback who was good going forward or one who was sound defnsively, I know what I'd pick.
I got a lot of respect for Giuly. That little man has scored many good goals for us, but he isnt the strongest of wingers. How i wish we still had Quaresma. With that much power down the right wing, the things that we could do...
But the fullbacks priority is to defend. If I had a choice between a fullback who was good going forward or one who was sound defnsively, I know what I'd pick.
Then you might as well use centrebacks. The whole idea behind a full back is that he cover the wings but helps the attack as well. Where would football be if all we had was FBs like Oleguer.
It's obvious that you learnt football the Spanish way and I learnt it the English way.
Spanish way- Support the attack, but when the opposition are coming forward, help out the defence.
English way- Stop the opposition wingers. Go forward if your team has the ball.
Something like that.

A full-back needs to do both in equal measure. If he's going to simply attack, he might as well be a winger. If he's just going to defend, he can be an orthodox left or right-back who supports the wingers from the half-way line.

Depends what country really. In Brazil for example, a fullback needs to have an attacking bias. In most of the European countries, they need to be more defensively minded.

True, but I was speaking generally. In Brazil they'll just get shot and/or never make it into the national squad if they don't attack.

Fourteen consecutive matches winning, a new record!
Yesterday was the fist Cup match for Barça against Zamora, a team that belongs to 2B in Spain. Good match for Ezquerro and Marquez that scored a powerful freekick. Really good. It finished 1-3 for Barça.
Has anyone heard any news about Maxi Lopez being loaned out?
Barcelona derbi tonight. I think its the last game for Eto'o before he goes of to play in the African nations cup. Hopefully make it 15 wins tonight, although Edmilson made a great point the other day. He said that breaking these records means nothing if you don't win tropheys. Too right my man. I'm going for a 3-1 to Barça. Eto'o 2 Deco 1.
I read that Eto'o will play next weekend as well, against Bilbao.
Honestly, these days i just dont see us losing against any spanish side. We could draw, it's true, but not tonight, fellas.
I am hoping for loads of goals tonight. Four at least. Deco, Messi, Marquez and Iniesta on the score sheet. ;)
How come Eto'o gets to stay for a while longer when most of the English based players went in the week?

Good relations?
I hardly think any of the English clubs or their African players have bad relations with the countries.
Anyway, half time in the derby, 1-0 to Barca. A lucky goal really by Deco, it was a mistake by the keeper what let it in. It probably should've been two, Belletti missed a good chance, however I loved that little feint before his shot. Never seen anyone actually dummy the ball with a full swing before.
Also, does anyone know why Messi is now wearing the number 19 shirt?

Anybody have a clue what Rijkaard is going to do once Eto'o goes off to Egypt? Rumour has it that he'll play Ronaldinho straight down the middle, Giuly on the right and Messi on the left. Henrik didn't look too convincing to me against Espanyol last night...
Belletti scored a goal with that same dummy last season i think it was in a pre-season friendly. I think Barca will do ok without Eto'o. Its only for a couple of games anyway. Osasuna only drew earlier, that helps Barca keep a few points from the 2nd place team.
I'd just stick Larsson in Eto'o's posistion. Obviously his not as good as Eto'o but I think he can get us goals.
But why did he need to change from the number 30 shirt?
Because now he is professional and the numbers up to 25 belong to the branch of Barca.....I hope that you understand me :D because my english is very bad to explain Spanish things in English :D

Maxi might play tonight ahead of Larsson. He will certainly have a go in the second half.
I'd be very surprised if Maxi was played ahead of Larsson in the league whilst Eto'o is away. Larsson has made quite a few substitute appearances this season whereas Maxi has made one I believe.

I would actually say its the best. It's better than the one Milan have, better than Inter's and marginally better than Juventus' - though I'm sure people will question my use of the word 'marginally'. Alternatively, its stronger than Madrid's and Manchester United's, better than Arsenal's though not by as much, and better than Chelsea's but by less than it is better than Arsenal's.
Find x in the above equation, to the nearest whole number.

The actions of Deco and Eto'o tonight were rather disgraceful I must say, and the latter could, and should, get a few games ban for the spitting incident. However, as he's off to Africa, it doesn't matter.
Yeah I just saw what Eto'o did. Very dissapointed in him. Javier Clemente, Bilbao coach, is going to be in trouble. When commenting on what Eto'o did he made a rascist remark.

Seen the second half, was a good game right up untill the dying minutes. Deco's sending off was just plain stupid and what Eto'o done was really dissapointing. I would imagine Deco spitting as he kinda is a dirty player, but from Eto'o, i never would have expected him to do that. On to good news though, Osasuna's loss means Barca increase their lead in La liga, league is going to Camp Nou for the second season.
Deco wasnt entirely at fault, although he should have kept his hands to himself. Eto'o should get the bann after he comes back. I dont want to see that kind of stuff coming from our players. He is rather childish for someone who is suppoosed to be a pro.
Clemente should burn in hell for a couple of decades for being a racist cunt.
That was very disrespectful and ugly from Eto'o and pure foolishness from Deco. Keep it in.
Luckily, he has a coach that will set him straight on that spitting incident...

Seriously though, that kinda behaviour is just sickening, and there should be heavier sanctions to punish players that commit that. It's one of the biggest signs of disrespect.

The one thing people should be talking about is Ronaldinho's Dropping back-heal that was simply amazing http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2743/notworthy5gp.gif (http://imageshack.us)@ronaldinho!!
Ronaldinho did not seem happy about the antics of some of his team mates and their players going in hard towards the end he wasn't smiling! which is just not him
What Clemente said (http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=353674&CPID=23&clid=&lid=10&title=Clemente+sparks+new+race +storm)
What Eto'o says (http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=353736&CPID=23&clid=&lid=2&title=Eto'o+coy+as+race+row+er upts)
Clemente's explanation (http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=353831&CPID=23&clid=&lid=10&title=Clemente+explains+Eto'o+ outburst)
Its difficult, I want to believe Eto'o. I mean if you see it on tv you see that a big part of the spit doesn't touch the other guy. So maybe he just spat and a part of it hit the guy. I'm not sure but either way its not nice. And towards Clementes explanation I can see where his coming from. And living in spain I see interviews with Clemente alot and his one of the most honest managers there is in spain. So I don't think he ment it to be rascist

Ronaldinho annoys me sometimes, he is just too good, that backheel was sublime.
Deco out of Alavés clash
The only negative point from Sunday's victory against Athletic Bilbao was the red card shown to Deco, who was sent off for pulling Carlos Gurpegui by the hair. The Portuguese player was sitting on the ground when Gurpegui tapped him on the shoulder and made a comment and Deco was then dismissed for retaliation. Without knowing the total sanction, Deco will now miss the game against Alavés next weekend in Camp Nou.
He has been sanctioned for two games. This decision is being appealed because it's clearly nonsense.
Well he deserves a two game ban for the petulance if I'm being honest, so I don't think it will be overturned. And if a ban is appealed against in Spain, can it be extended? Because if it can, then Barca should settle for two, because I'm surprised it wasn't a three game ban.
As for Eto'o, he did spit at Exposito. He says he was just spitting, not at anyone, but if that was true then he would've turned his head to the side and spat downwards.
And about Clemente, apparently the Spanish FA aren't taking any action against him despite encouragement from the government. When are they going to show the world that they are taking this issue seriously? The racism that goes on in Spain is ridiculous, they really need to make a stand against it.
Racism goes hand in hand with fascism and, believe it or not, Spain is full of fascists.
I dont really mind the Deco ban because he does deserve it, but they should ban Eto'o as well because he clearly spit in the hopes of landing it on the guy's back whilst making it look casual.

I'm not defending Spanish people being rascist but spain has only been 30 years, not long if we talk about history, with out a dictator. So you still get many narrow minded fasisct in this country. When it comes to football (the fans) here in Spain its like the 70's in england. Things will get better. I hope.

I've just read a report that Gabri has almost signed for Middlesbrough and Maxi Lopez has been linked with a loan deal with a club in the premiership. Does anyone have any more info on this ?
Gabri's future seems to be away from the Camp Nou. His contract runs out this summer and seems that he will not be signing a new one. So its very possible that he goes to Middlesbrough during the January transfer market, West Ham or keen too. Possibly on loan with a view to a perminent deal in the summer. Not sure about Maxi. He stated that he didnt want to leave Barça and the club said it was up to him if he wanted to leave or not.
Thanx for that info. When a club says its up to the player if he wants to go or not do you get the feeling yor not wanted ?
I would stay if i were Maxi. If Larsson or Eto'o suffer an injury we will need him and he is bound to play a lot more.
I just do not see Rijkaard leaving. That strikes me as an extremely foolish move.

Well Milan are supposedly (though they categorically deny it - but then they would) preparing a huge offer for Rijkaard and in turn Cruyff would tell the club to go for Van Basten. What's strange is Milan previously wanted Van Basten and he's our prodigal son.
Oh and your lovely arch-rivals are preparing a gigantic offer for Capello too.
I'm a huge fan of Rijkaard so I hope he doesn't leave. Watching the news last night and there was a clip of Rijkaard coming out of training and going to the changing room. Perhaps Rijkaard was teaching Eto a few new methods to wind up the oppostion that's why he spat;)
Oleguer with some magic around the 70th, poor Giuly once again off the woodwork.
What an attack led by Messi, leading Ronnie out to his left only to finish off a leg save from the Brazillian's close effort.
And I miss Giuly's last touch before he is replaced as I type this - I hope he remains at Barca.
Barça 2 - 0 Alaves. Another 3 points and now 10 points clear of Osasuna. Didn't play great but it's a win. Dinho missed a penalty. Goals from Larsson and Messi. Mallorca next weekend.
I just hope we can make it to the twentieth consecutive win. It would be a nice round number and not too much to ask, i think. :)
Eto'o strikes me as the kind of disloyal sob that would go to Chelsea if the price is right.

Totally agree.

Barça 2 - 0 Alaves. Another 3 points and now 10 points clear of Osasuna. Didn't play great but it's a win. Dinho missed a penalty. Goals from Larsson and Messi. Mallorca next weekend.
You ruined it for me. I thought this was live! Probably given away with "EXCLUSIVE" in the top corner, although I'm not watching it intensly. Could you tell me what time Lionel scored? To save me getting bored

When I'm watching a game, I'll pick up on the "EXCLUSIVE" in the corner, just I'd got back from footy (with a sprained ankle and brusied toe, ouchie). Wasn't paying too much attention on the game.
Messi is showing some good poaching skills. It will come in handy in the CL days to come.

I was all up for watching it aswell. Got up to the Dinho penalty, then someone on another site told me the game had finished 2-0, so i knew he was missing and was just waiting to see what Messi's goal was like, from their on i kinda lost interest, aint the same when you know the outcome.:(

Did anyone else see Guily tonight ? Was easily the unluckiest player on the pitch.:shocking:
Meh. Poor finishing on a couple of chances.

Not even PC or RC or even CM will be able to stop the blue and red onslaught. :D
Was Larsson always this sluggish? He is great with the 1-2s, which is something Eto'o lacks, but he was slow to take the shots when presented with chances.
Iniesta is a great midfielder but you could tell from today's game that without Deco and xavi we lack so much potential. The last few games would have been goal festivals with those two doing their magic in the middle.
Giuly missed a couple of clear shots as well. Bad luck.
Bommel created a couple of great plays but i think he can give so much more. He looks a bit ackward sometimes, which is deceiving, but he is such a dangerous midfielder and has got a lot of skill and vision. I'm surprised he hasnt scored a few more goals since he joined the squad.
What about Rafa Marquez? What can i say other than brilliant? He is absolutely a key player of FC Barcelona. We would be so weak defensively without him. I think that if this man was injured it would affect the squad more than Deco's and Xavi's abscence put together.

Great Marquez of course, what a great player! Also liking a lot Edmilson, he's getting better and better and played great yesterday.
Indeed i'm proud of the team's attitude, without Xavi, Deco, Eto'o and Ronnie a little bit down the team is showing a great teamwork. I'm really happy with Larsson, he'd be an idol if he'd come to Barcelona ten years ago, what a great player he's, really good as an attacking reference for their mates.

The roumor about Henry coming to Barcelona is getting high, it's said on the press that Thierry has a verbal agreement with Laporta and Rijkaard agrees the coming of Thierry.
It should be fantastic to see Ronnie, Eto'o, Messi and Henry together, but IMO there's no place on a line up for the four fantastics and i guess that Eto'o and Messi won't be happy to be on the bench, especially Samuel.
That's why i think that the coming of Thierry can cause a lot of "ego" troubles and i don't want to see our team becoming a bunch of superstars that don't play a shit like Florentino has done with the shitty galacticos.
What do you think about this?
Dude that rumour was In the 'Sport', daily sports paper, that is really biased towards Barça. Anyway most the time it prints alot of bullshit. And Henry has said that he doesnt want to leave Arsenal. So I can't see it happening.

It's true but it seems like this time it's been published in many countries too, i don't really know if there's any truth in this new, anyway i think that we need other kind of players for the next season, no more than three new players.
Well we need another striker to replace Larsson. So someone who will accept being second choice behind Eto'o. Then I feel we need a right back. I'd like Mancini from Roma. And I know you all won't agree, but a new goalkeeper. Can't stand Valdes :D
What if Samuel Eto'o goes to Chelsea? We know Larsson is leaving anyway.
If Eto'o goes, then i would love to see the frenchman come to us.
Eto'o will go to Chelsea if they offer him a good deal. I'm sure of this.
EDIT: Valdes is good and is still quite young. Give him another year. You know our defence hasnt been one of the best but he has still managed to concede very few goals in this season and the past one.
I'll admit his not the worse keeper we have had. But I jsut get nervous when ever one of our players passes it back to him. I don't think his distribution off the ball is great either. Just say we get to a final and its penalties I can't see him being a hero. I don't think I've seen him save a penalty. But anyway I guess I just dislike the guy beacause I jsut don't like his face

I agree that Barca need a new right back, because Oleguer I feel is not good enough or comfortable enough at full back to be a regular in the Barca side and Belletti is too attack minded. But Mancini is definitely not the answer.
And Valdes is a decent keeper, and considering that goalkeeping relies a lot on experience, he will be a great keeper when he's older.

Mancini isn't into defending, just like Belletti. He's a very good attacking full-back - in the Cafu sort of mould - but that just means you have two similar right-backs so he's not the answer.
