IMO, I suppose Landon Donovan is, but he hasnt proved anything in Europe, so maybe Demarcus Beasley.

Frankie Hedjuk is incredible.Donovan and Eddie Johnson follow in that order. Also
http://www.easports.com/events/allamericans2004/soccer.jsp Kiki Willis is pretty good with a ball. ;)

Hedjuk??? he's old, i was talking about right now. I agree with Eddie Johnson tho, hes gonna get grabbed by a big club and score lots of goals.

Experience comes with age. ;) And yes johnson is a versatile striker reminds me of a very tall obafemi martins.

That young kid Eddie Gaven has a lot of potential. Isn't he only 17? He is very mature for his age, and his distribution from midfield is usually very accurate and sensible. He is meant to have had offers already from European teams.
Llandon Donovan & DeMarcus Beasley I would say are up there at the minute though.

50!

I am surprised this thread has not been hijacked by the Freddy Adu loyal support. They do watch him week in week out afterall.

Eddie Gaven is class tho ur right. Im suprised he hasnt gotten a look from Bruce Arena. He's gonna be really good.

Also look out for Clint Dempsy, he was MLS rookie of the year and he can really play. all over the midfield and up top.

On the Freddy Adu front. I'm an American, and most of my friends are Americans, and we're all big soccer fans. And I dont know one person who is currently a fan of Freddy Adu. For a 14 year old he's amazing def. best American ever. But as far as the MLS he's average at best. Hes got great footwork, but gets pushed off the ball everytime. He also has a below average shot.
I'll be a Freddy Adu fan when he starts to play like a man and be a stand out. I hate how when I want to watch my domestic league it always has to be him on there.

Remember tho, best footballer right now, not in the future.

Give Tim time, he's a very young keeper and it doesn't help that Fergusmoan refuses to back him. He's very good, and besides Friedel just retired from international football.

What position does the Arsenal reserves captain Frankie Simek play for USA u-21's?

He should turn out to be very good defender, capable of playing both centre back and right-back.

http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=players&id=0018

Nice title for a website.
Go to more player biographies and it gives good up-to-date info on a lot of young American soccer stars, including Arsenal's very own Spock look-alike Danny Karbssiyoon.

Karbasiyoon is a utility palyer that plays striker or wing back or wide midfield, actually I've seen him play nearly everywhere. when he scored in the carling cup he was at left back.

ITV1 (one of the big biggest Terrestial t.v. channels in England, if not the biggest) had the Super Bowl on from 10.40 pm to 3.30 am on Sunday night/Monday morning, with such American Football experts such as Gabby Logan, Clive Allen, Martin Johnson, and some Olympic rower :D Was fun to see them try and make out they knew what the hell they were watching.

I never usually watch American Football, apart from the Super Bowl. No idea what the rules are, except throw the ball forward to one of your players, run to the end of the pitch, trying not to get your head taken off by some beast, and do a little wiggle dance if you manage to achieve so.

Who is regarded as the best American Football player in America?

first qualify this some

to be the best 'american footballer' / 'american soccer player', you need to be a starter on the national team, fair enough? so lets look at the list.

1-Brad Friedel, G
18-Kasey Keller, G
19-Tony Meola, G
2-Frankie Hejduk, D
3-Gregg Berhalter, D
4-Pablo Mastroeni, D
6-David Regis, D
12-Jeff Agoos, D
14-Steve Cherundolo, D
16-Carlos Llamosa, D
22-Tony Sanneh, D
23-Eddie Pope, D
G. Vanney, M

5-John O'Brien, M
7-Eddie Lewis, M
10-Claudio Reyna, M
13-Cobi Jones, M
17-DaMarcus Beasley, M
21-Landon Donovan, M
B.Ching , F
8-Earnie Stewart, F
9-Joe-Max Moore, F
11-Clint Mathis, F
15-Josh Wolff, F
20-Brian McBride, F

Freidel just retired from int. football on the 7th, so hes out of the competition.

I'd say Donovan is our best player.

Currently Micheal Vick and Peyton Manning are the best QB's.

ha, Vick is not a good quarterback, hes a good athlete, look at his numbers...take away his rushing and he probably wouldnt even be playing in the NFL.

manning/brady are the best qb's

Definitely Maybe
09-02-2005, 21:44
The only one I have ever seen on a regular basis is Reyna. So Claudio for me. Sheer class when he was at us, but hes had his trouble with injuries since, dunno how hes recovered...

Cmon now.Vick is the reason you know the falcons.Jus cause he can run doesn;t mean you should overlook his ability to throw. Though ur right about Brady. ;)

Daunte Culpepper is better. :)

Vick is a good quarterback, though. Just not a regular quarterback. He gets the team the victories... seeing as he's meant to do that, I don't think passing numbers should have to come into play.

(I'm biased. I have a Vick jersey. :D)

Actually Mick Luckhurst is how I know the Falcons.
And with such variation of roles how can you pick 'the best'?
Was Joe Montana better than Lawrence Taylor?
Jerry Rice or Junior Seau?
At the minute though I don't think you can look past Brady, 80% winning record, 3 Superb Owls in 4 years. I'd take man who gets the job done IMO over one with great stats who doesn't!

The question is:

WHO THE (add appropiate expletives) CARES?!

AfroJoe
09-02-2005, 23:36
You really think that?

To me, he's a good player, but he's not spectacular in the way that many people think. For me, he doesn't come close to Manning and Culpepper, let alone Montana and Elway.

The thing with Brady is, he's got a fantastic team around him which makes him look better than he really is. He's extremely accurate, but the team have such well-designed routes which give the receiver he's aiming for the advantage over the corner/safety. Also, the plays he makes are most of the time simple, like a play action that'll gain about 10 yards. Effective, yes, but nothing so majorly impressive.

AfroJoe, First and formost, impressive stuff for a scot.
But I watched every game brady played this year, and you are right he doesnt have the physical tools that manning or culpepper has, but neither did Montana and he won 3 super bowls. Brady's arm has gotten better every year in the league, his first super bowl ur comments about him making simple plays was 100% true, but this season he had the most passes of 20 or more yards attempted than any other qb. His deep ball now is one of the best now. His team is great, mostly because of the coaching and the players brains. Brady is also very smart, and he's gonna keep winning and I think that'l get him into the hall of fame.

Ogopa Djz
10-02-2005, 02:35
Thing about Brady compared to other QB's is he rarely makes mistakes (or better phrased) rarely chokes at big games.Manning is incredible in his passing and knowledge of the game, Vick is a threat at all angles(always a suprise with him) Culpepper is underrated. ;)

I should have rephrased it Vick is the only reason people care about the Falcons.Sell Vick and the Falcons automatically becomes drumroll.... the equivalent of Georgia Tech. ;)
