who is Simon Freeman ??
he/she sent me this E-Mail
I am a British journalist based in London and am finishing a book on football in Iraq, due to be published in August by John Murray, Britain's oldest publisher. (You will find it previewed on www. amazon.co.uk. It is called Baghdad FC.)
I have just discovered your excellent web site, which is full of interesting information. I would like to mention it my book - so perhaps you tcould ell me who set it up, when and why. I would also like to know how you manage to obtain so much information. Next, how do you check material? For example, some sources tell me that there is almost no club football being played in Iraq now while other people insist that football is being played.
You can reach me at this email address, at xxxxxxxx@hotmail.com or on my mobile xxxxxxxx
Yours sincerely
Simon Freeman
for note i edit the the Quote and i put the xxxxxxxx

Never heard of him, but I'm intrieged (sp).
Just had a look on Amazon, and the book in question is previewed. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0719567955/qid%3D1108311369/202-3940070-4592612
Theres also a couple of football books on there by Simon Freeman, but they were all written in the 80's.
If you want my advice, I'd go for it. I know I've been a little critical of your posts on Iraqi football in the past, but you're obviously a genuine football fan who hopes to spread the word about football in the Middle East, and if you can contribute to that via this book then great. What have you got to lose?
If I was you I'd e-mail the bloke and find out more information on him, but as I say, go for it.

What he said ^ (Edit: reference to Definately Maybe)
At first sight it looks genuine, and I've looked up Simon Freeman and he's definately a professional journalist. He was voted BT South Eastern & Eastern Media Awards Journalist of the Year when he worked for a Brighton local paper.
He's also freelanced for The Times, including this article (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,7374-1447234,00.html) about violence in Iraq. So there's a link.
He seems to do a lot of political freelance journalism in war-zones, which would explain why he's writing a book about Iraq. His previous books about Football that Definately Maybe found, would explain the link between Iraq and football in his book.
Wouldn't recommend ringing his mobile from Iraq though, cost you and him a small fortune. Drop him an e-mail and you'll probably get your name mentioned in his bibliography and a plug for your site in his book.

About my website. I created this site my name Mussab Nizar Dawood. My website started with 3 members. 3 reporters and me
After few months some Friends volunteers from Iraq to build this site. By sending news and Iraq Super League Results. Half of this Information forms my Friend his name Hassnin Mubark. My sources is very true most of them from newspaper reporters. And Hassanin Mubark he is a Reporter too he always contact Footballasia.com and me. But also I helped him too in many things.
About what you asked the current situation in Iraq. Yes there are a league playing right now
Iraq Super League contains 36 Clubs. Divided in 4 Groups each Group Has 9 Clubs
The groups divided by geography. First group its for the north Clubs. Kurdistan Group. And the second Group for the clubs between Al-Forat River or you can Call it the Pure River. The third Group its contains Center Iraq Clubs. Most of them From Baghdad. The last group contains the south Clubs. But Iraq FA Decided to split the best 4 Clubs each club in different group even if its not from the same geography
The best 4 clubs in Iraq its. The first club Al-Quwa AlJawiya and its means Air Force and this club from Baghdad but the draw drop this Club with Kurdistan Clubs and the second Club Al Zawra, Al-Zawra nickname Iraqi Gulls, Al-Zawra the best club in Iraq. Al Zawra won Iraq League 14 Times. The Third Club Al-Talaba and its mean Students thy Grouped in the third Group the Iraq Centre. Ald the 4th bset Club Al-Shurta and its Means Police club and Grouped with Group D. each group plays like round robin like a full league (home and away) 3 teams from each Group Qualify to the next Stage and thy will play in one league contains 12 clubs.
For now thy played the home games in the first stage. And in this month thy will play the away games to complete the Round robin. For now the bset clubs in Iraq did a good job. Air Force, Police Club and Al-Zawra they are the first in each Group. But in Group 3 Al-Kahraba and its mean Electricity the club its came from Davison 2 surprised us all and they are the first in the group. And Students ended third
8 matches to complete. The first stage so thy may have a chance to qualify.
All the matches played and the Iraq Super League did well except one club. Al-Mosel thy suspend there matches because the hard situation in Al-Mosel . Al-Mosel with Group A. If you want to know ant thing about the Iraq super league. Visit my site
And Go to the Iraq Super League section.
Iraqi Clubs not a small clubs as they know. But thy didn’t played 13 years in the Arab Competitions and the Olympic games beasue 1990 war over Kuwait
Iraq Clubs won a lot of champions and tournament in the Arab Competition and did a good job in Asian Tournament. For example Police club won the First Arab Club Champions Cup 1982 and Al-Rashid club thy keped there record as thy won the Arab Club Champions Cup 3 times 85, 86 and 87 and Iraq Clubs didn’t Played any Arab Tournament from 13 years. Thy changed the tournament to Arab Champions League and they didn’t break the record yet
And in the Asian Competitions like Asian Cup Winners' Cup. In 1999 Studnets club ended – in the 3rd Place. And in the next year Al Zawra ended 2nd in the Asian Cup Winners' Cup.
Not just like that. In the Asian club Champions Cup. In 1971 Police SC ended in the 2nd Place, Police SC refused to play against Maccabi Tel Aviv for political reasons
Also 1988 Al-Rashid ended in the 2nd place in the same tournament
Iraq clubs didn’t won Asian Tournaments. But Iraq National team won a lot of tournament. For example. Iraq the only Arabic team won the Asian Games 1982 and thy ended 2nd in 1999
Iraq won the best team ever won the Arab Cup thy won it 4 times from 8. and for not Iraq didn’t play in the Arab Cup for 14 years and no one Break the record. Just Saudi Arabia won it 2 times. If thy want to break the record thy must wait another 8 years. If thy want to breack it because this cup heald every 4 years. Also Iraq didn’t played in the gulf cup for 13 yaers and Iraq won the gulf cup 3 times. For note this is the 17 Edition and Iraq just played 6 times and won it 3 times. So the are the best 2nd team in gulf cup Kuwait won it 9 times form 17.
Iraq won the Pan Arab Games 1985 and ended 2nd in 1999 and the West Asia Champion ship 2002
And thy ended 3rd 2000
Iraq youth Team have a great history too thy won the Asian youth Cup 5 times
And one forget Iraq in the Youth World cup 1989 when thy won over Norway 1-0 and over Spain 2-0 and over Argentina 1-0 thy ended first in there Group and thy qualify to quarter finals and thy losed form USA 2-1
Iraq Olympic team have a good record too thy Qualified 4 times to the Olympics and thy didn’t played 13 years too and the best record for Iraq in 2004 when thy ended 4th.
Also we will never forget when we qualified to the World Cup 1986. we losed 3 matches but we losed with a different one gaol we loased from Mexico 1-0 (the hosts), we losed from Paraguay 1-0 and from Belgium 2-1. Ahmed Radhi scord the Only Goal for us in the World Cup.
