Just to let you know, Club Football will have four control systems now, two new ones, one like FIFA, one like PES and also a custom mode where you can choose your own controls.

Can't fault you on wanting to buy it though ;)

did I detect a hint of sarcasm there? I think the game will do okay, it will sell well, but won't be better than PES. And which one will be the most popular? (cough::Man U's::cough)

Yeah, I'm happy to give any new game a chance if it's half decent.

Rubber answered me once that Club Football editions of Real Madrid and Manchester will be sold all over Europe (World ??) so i think those 2 will sell the most, as they are by far the best and most well known teams...

The game was supposed to be playable at a games expo sort of jobbie somewhere in the UK recently (Not at all Vague am I?)

So has anyone here actually played it, I would rate your opinions slightly higher than the plebs who prefer FIFA or the guys that have an interest in the game doing well (Sorry Rubber).

So if you've played it, how do you rate it??

It was the Playstation Experience at Earl's Court - and I conditioned everyone there who played it so they would love it. Sorry ;)

It's more like PES than FIFA in gameplay terms, more like FIFA in graphics. I think anyway.

I have just ordered Club Football off Amazon for the XBox its says its out NOW (3rd of october)but most other places say the 10th.

but in the xbox mag it got an 8.0/10

its says that fifa 2004 will have serious competition form clubfootball.

and you can even be division 1 teams!!!!!!!

This has now changed to Oct 17th apparently...

Sadly, it isn't living up to the hype.

Many reviews have said it's too clunky and doesn't play with the fluidity of either Pro Evo or FIFA.

Ah well.

rebusrahman
04-10-2003, 17:11
Well, I should have it next week so I'll let you know... the proof is in the playing!

Club football got 7/10 for the PS2 whilst our PES3 recieved 10! Club Football seems brilliant graphically but the gameplay lets it down.

whats the point of buying a game because of the control system? if u like pes then buy pes! why settle for a weaker gamespolaying experience

rubbergenius
06-10-2003, 14:15
The reviews have been quite good actually - quite a few 8's, especially on Xbox (unsurprising given there's no PES on there) and considering it's the first version that's good - remember EA and Konami have had years and years to get it right (and EA still haven't!).

I think Patrick Bateman's missing the point - it's not just about the fact it's like PES gameplay-wise - it's about playing for your side and club affiliation. People don't support PES - they support their football club and that's what we tap into. It's different from FIFA and PES in that respect.

ands whats the hype about the graphics they remind me of three lions on the PS1.......

Paul B
06-10-2003, 16:55
I saw a video of it on a PS2 mag DVD not long ago and it looked cool. However, on the video on Colin McRae Rally 4, it looks shocking!

rubbergenius
06-10-2003, 17:03
But the PSM2 DVD featured a bug-ridden version from 6 months ago! That's scary...

I think the video for Club Football on Colin04 looks good but hey ho.

ok, so why are you all buying this? please explain?

my theory is that casual gamers will buy anything that is drivin into their skulls from advertising campaigns and cant wait for a vastly superior game.

I have an xbox and ps2 and i will buy fifa 2004 and club football for xbox and pes3 for ps2.

In club football their r 3 pre-set control systems - club football one a fifa one and a pes one the gameplay is meant to be like pes with licenses.

I happened to borrow a copy of the club football (MU) playable on PS2. I don't know, it was disappointing. The players are as stiff as a turnpike and they do not move around like those in WE.
I am not sure whether the game will play any better on X box but
having played Fifa 2004 demo, I can say that Fifa is much better in terms of everything. The king of football is still WE/PES though.

Definitely Maybe
19-10-2003, 00:12
Thing with club football is, in England you can only have 2 licensed clubs from the same country in the game, so if you bought say..... the Leeds version, you would only have Leeds and Man U licensed (if you bought a foreign version you would get Arsenal and Manure licensed from England), which is a bit of a bummer.

Someone on the Club Football forums asked how Fifa had all English teams licensed, and a club football representitive said that there is one game which gets away with murder licensing wise (presumably Fifa.)

Whats the Sunderland squad, anyone?

Long time since I've been around as I've been so busy.

The reason casual gamers, and I include myself in that category, buy this and other games is because, usually, it looks like a fun game and it is. If I see a game that looks good I'll think about buying it. This probably goes for about 90% of the people that buy games. Elitism doesn't come in to it.

Same with CDs, DVDs and cakes. :D

i NOW relise it was but it was the official footie game of MAN UTD so i had to try it out.

i am also getting FIFA 2004 today.

Kharmel
28-10-2003, 18:54
Yes, but don't you ever go by reviews and what not before you buy a game? If you buy a game based on the looks of the box and other silly things like that, then it is your own fault if the game is shocking.

rubbergenius
29-10-2003, 14:56
The reviews are good - around 8/10 across the magazines. And to say the graphics are crap is a bit harsh when most gamers and reviewers have agreed that the graphics are really good.

Ah well, horses for courses...

But which would you believe - quite a few good reviews or one person that says it's crap? You'll always believe the one person. That's human nature.

bottom line pal, u dont go see a film if it gets a bad review, same with cds , theatre, bands etc.

common sense prevails that pes3 is the best football game ever and also one of the best GAMES ever.

as i said , advertising is what sells games to casual gamers like yourself. just read a bloody review and dont be daft, lol
