La Naranja took all 3 points, in this pulsating encounter, at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was the home side who took the early initiative, through the lively Samuel Eto'o. The Cameroon ace latching onto Robinho's pass, and firing home from 18 yards, past the despairing dive of Jens Lehmann. The German 'keeper had to react quickly just moments later, when Edu spotted him off his line, and attempted a clever chip from 30 yards out. Lehmann managed to backtrack and tip the ball over the crossbar, at the expense of a corner.
The ProHawks fought back, with Ruud van Nistelrooy's glancing header via Beckham's accurate cross from the right, forcing Toldo into action.
Moments later, Luis Figo danced around the challenges from Edu and Grosso, and found Kevin Kuranyi in space, but the forward wastefully struck the ball wayward, to Figo's visible annoyance. This sparked La Naranja into life again, as the sensational Robinho was at hand to carve upon another opportunity, this time teaming up with Ronaldinho, before finding the run of Xavi Hernandez, who struck goalwards, but couldn't direct his shot away from Lehmann.
As halftime approached, Del Bosque's men continued to search for a second, and came close when Ronaldinho thundered a shot at goal from just outside the penalty area, but Lehmann was equal to it, and gathered the ball at the second attempt, with Eto'o closing in.
La Naranja, again, came out the blocks as the stronger team, Robinho again at the heart of most of the side's best moves. The Brazilian would get the goal his performance certainly deserved, when he rounded off a team-move, involving Edu, Xavi and Ronaldinho, as his well-placed shot beat Jens Lehmann, and gave his team a commanding a lead.
Rather than relentlessly attack, the ProHawks seemed happy to adopt a slow build-up and patient passing game, looking to find a possible weakness in the opposition. However, there was not one to be found, and it took a set-piece to bring them back into it.
Just seconds after coming in, Shabani Nonda's heel was clipped by Patrick Vieira, and from the resulting free-kick, Juninho Pernambucano scored a brilliant trademark free-kick which, for all his effort, Toldo could get nowhere near to. Van Nistelrooy ran to collect the ball, as the game looked set for a dramatic finale.
The dramatic finale never came and, in truth, it was only the dangerous set-pieces from David Beckham and Juninho Pernambucano that ever looked like troubling Naranja.
The 3 man defence will surely be something that Flores looks into, as it put the team under a lot of pressure in this game, and Del Bosque's team ran out deserved winners.

Yeah, I think so.
They haven't been updated since the last cup games, so the overall top scorers won't be correct, but the League Top Scorers should all be ok.
Good to hear about the return of the match reports. I was contemplating giving the Division 1 fixtures another go this week, if I find the time and effort.
I would be up for doing match reports if you need some.

after fixture 9 the transfer window opens.
When this occurs you can go into the Player Values thread and create a thread, then James or one of the admins will give you a price and you either agree to pay it or not.
Ok, thanks for that. I have been looking for that info but couldn't find it.
I am looking to sign a few free agents myself.
I might look into signing one or two free agents.
martin_cranie
17-02-2007, 23:10
In the transfer window, open a thread with the name of player you want as the title in this (http://www.pesgaming.com/forumdisplay.php?f=246) area. You will be quoted a price for taking that player on, after which you will have 48 hours to confirm whether or not you want him. If you don't someone else can move in.
If more than one manager opens a thread about the same player, the manager who opened the thread first will get first option.
Edit: Damn it, I clicked last page but it took me to page 51. I didn't realise these other bastards had already replied.
Sounds good, anyway when does the transfer window open, is it a certain day, or just after the polls have closed on the 9th fixtures?
right this may be a stupid question but when is fixture 9 next sat? if so i will be in cardiff for a night out and will miss the best of the bunch. :( as i dont want to miss out on the best free agents.

When does the transfer window open, tonight or tommorrow?
Not until after Fixture 9, which is next friday. But they might move it back a bit to give people a chance to be online.

Frustrated Rocchi Requests Move
http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/1481/rocchimo3.jpg
MBV Arkestra's striker, Tommaso Rocchi, has requested a move in order to find regular football. The 29 year old forward has claimed that his patience and performances in training deserves to be rewarded with a starting role with MBV. But, with the manager's recent decision to switch to a 4-5-1 formation, it looks even more unlikely the talented finisher will be involved in the manager's plans, especially with the on loan striker, Pauleta, being in hot form.
Veron On His Way Out!
Juan Sebastien Veron has requested a move away from TG United, his position looks comprimised after the signing of Mathieu Flamini. He is now seen as surplus to requirements and is seen to be valued by TG United at around £4 million.

Dutch Deceit
http://www.bnr.nl/blobs/anp/45532.jpg
Recently appointed MBV Arkestra manager, Guus Hiddink, has been forced to explain himself in relation to the allegations that he unlawfully took the post of MBV manager. "It's a simple case of poor communication and misunderstanding", explained the 60 year old.
MBV chaiman, Dragonfly, said he felt embarrassed to have fallen for Hiddink's lies. "Our club is bigger than any individual, and will not tollerate such behaviour".
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/graphics/2005/02/22/sfnhen22.jpg
On the back of this controversy, Dragonfly rushed in a replacement manager. And what a replacement! Arsene Wenger is one of the world's greatest managers and this is a real coupe for the promising D3 side. Wenger said, "I'm proud to be involved with such an ambitious team. We both have the same vision to make the team the biggest in the world, and bring many trophies to Twickenham Stadium."
Verdadera In Transfer Rampage!
http://static.flickr.com/74/218235908_94a26dfef9_o.jpg
New signing Jermaine Pennant in action (£6m)
New boys Real Verdadera have been the main source in this window. The Eagles have signed a massive list of 10 players! Real have made major signings in Andriy Voronin, Juan, Harry Jewell, Nigel Reo-Coker and top transfer Jermaine Pennant who was in the middle of a 3 way battle. In the end Scarface's side settled for £6m and Pennant was more than delighted to join Verdadera. Other free agents joined such as Antonio Di Natale, Pedro Mendes, Antonio Barragan, Falcao, Ashley Young and Ze Roberto.
Verdadera have also sold Borja Oubina, Iraola, Jagielka, Lenny, McGeady and Aquilani to allow leaveway to the incoming transfers. Aquilani was a top target for a number of clubs, eventually leaving to Del Piero's Old London Town. Verdadera are reportedly selling Gary O'Neil rumoured a value of £5m, Nicky Hofs (£2m), Youth player Morais and striker Kader Keita who has interested many FL teams.
Kerzhakov on his way out of El Kop!
http://www.fc-zenit.ru/images/players/Kerjakov.jpg
Reports from Menorca suggest Real number 22, Alexander Kerzhakov has handed in a transfer Request! The young russian forward is valued at around £7m and could attract interest from top D1 clubs. On a russian radio station Kerzhakov admitted his anger of lack of appearances and his desire to play first team football.
The FL Gazette spoke to Verdadera manager Kenny Dalglish: "Alex informed myself and Rick that he was thinking of moving on, he wasn't getting many appearances as it is and with the arrival of Andriy Voronin he felt he didn't have a future as a Real Verdadera player anymore. We are accepting offers from clubs and we expect a fair few offers from now until the window closes."
Verdadera owner Jack Wells thanked Kerzhakov's help in getting the team to 3rd place and wishes him good luck wherever he may go.

Today, reportedly Park Ji-Sung has fallen out of favour after on going battles with Joe Cole and Damien Duff to solidify a 1st team spot have failed. The talented midfielder couldn't hold down a regular place in the starting 11, however Newton Heath's traditional system did the Korean no favours. Rumours suggest numerous managers are chasing Park's signature, and this is to no surprise as the lionheart is capable of producing majestic football. Park Ji-Sung, who now has a road in his homeland dedicated to him, is expected to be leaving Old Trafford sooner rather than later.
Aquilani: "The interest flatters me!"
http://www.ilromanista.it/images/aquilani.jpg
The number 8 and Real Verdadera skipper has been the centre of attention at El Kop as interest from rival clubs soar. Even D1 clubs such as Merseyside USA have been chasing the italian's signature! "I am very flattered by the interest shown in me. It is a confidence booster and just makes me more determined to win trophies at Real. Although i'm flattered, I am also very happy at Verdadera and I will remain captain until I am told otherwise." Kenny Dalglish is very pleased with the player's contribution and tells FL Gazette that it would take an extremely good offer for him and the club to even consider selling Aquilani.

The Best striker in the World?
Today news shocked all of the Footballing world as Gerard Houllier came to terms with OJ's Didier Drogba. Drogba has signed today for FC Cali, in a deal which see's promising Gonzalo Higuain go the opposite direction, carrying 10million with him. Houllier says "Well, this is undoubtably the biggest transfer in FC Cali's history. Chairman Cali is overwhelmed with the signing, and thinks that I have done a great job." We managed to talk to Cali too about his thoughts "5 words is all I have to say. Call this the Houllier Era." FC Cali fan Brian Haywood spoke earlier today with FC Cali magazine and said "Didier Drogba is the best Striker in the World full stop. This is an amazing signing. Houllier and Cali have done really well to get this type of player to join. I and other FC Cali fans cannot wait to see him in action!". No doubt, that when the FC Cali shirts with 'Drogba 9' on, there will be a load of people buying that FC Cali shirt. Didier Drogba said "I really hope I can play aswell as I have been playing for OJ. I do believe that Houllier has done an excellent job as manager. He is one of my idols. I have made good Friends with Niko Kovac and Samir Nasri at the moment, and I hope to get on great with the rest of the squad. The main reason I joined was because it is such a well supported club, on it's way up to D2." Now with all of that amazing news, FC Cali have also signed former Sevilla Left back Ivica Dragutinovic, whilst releasing a series of FC Cali originals, Barry Opdam, Paul Konchesky and Lee Bowyer.

Craig Bellamy is available for a trade, be it permanent or on a loan basis.
Jose Antonio Reyes is available for a loan exchange, but i'd expect a good left winger in return.
Benfica right-back, Nélson Marcos, is also available for loan.
I've received loads of enquiries about my centre-backs, and have declined all offers, but I am now willing to let Alessandro Nesta leave on loan for half a season, providing I get a top centre back in exchange, for the duration he's away.
Only sensible offers please, I don't want Phil Neville or Presas Oleguer in my squad.

Last chance to snap up A. Ferdinand. Valued at 5m, I'm only looking for 4m. Buy now pay later is fine; I'm a caring guy. ;)
If a young defender isn't what you're looking for, then how about a striker. Rolando Bianchi, currently 14 goals to the good in Serie A, is just behind Totti and Toni. Only 23 years old, tipped for a big move in the summer and, as if that wasn't enough, will cost you nothing for a hsl. WOW.
PM me if you're interested.
Cmon peeps.
This is Denilson Neves I am speaking about. I'd regard him as the second most valuable free agent when this window opened. Surely you guys know him much better than me, talented Brasilian midfielder that sorta reminds us of another Fabregas.
and then there is Luis Valencia, very talented classy player who is playing in England aswell. Had the most votes as the Best Young Player in the World Cup, but ofcourse FIFA tossed that aside and gave it to a bigger star. Luis can play in centre midfield and on any wings, very versatile.
You can have one of them on loan (HSL) if you PM me first and it's for free! :w00t

Managers Of The Month
Division 1
Aidy Boothroyd (O.J.)
http://www.inthenews.co.uk/photo/adrian-boothroyd-$10854$180.jpg
Having instilled a tough mentality inside the club, Boothroyd's men pose a tough obstacle for any team to encounter. Following a excellent victory over one of the League's biggest teams; Galaxy FC, the club now sit in 6th - their highest position in history - and look instore for a very bright future, with a number of wonderfully gifted young talents at the club.
Division 2
Roberto Mancini (Del Piero 22)
http://www.columbia.co.cr/img_not/roberto%20mancini.jpg
As one of the youngest managers in the League, you could understand if Mancini had taken some time to settle in, but the Italian wasted no time in giving an exhibition of what he and his team were made of, going a whole half-season unbeaten, in both the League and Cup - a phenomenal achievement for any manager, let alone a manager in their debut season! Inexperience appears to be no problem, as the team are currently flying, with the highlight in recent matches being a victory over Division 1 side, TG Utd. With eyes firmly set on promotion, it will be of interest to see how the manager copes with being at the top of the food chain.
Division 3
Kenny Dalglish (Wellzy)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ms/thumb/d/dc/Dalglish.jpg/200px-Dalglish.jpg
Despite being a rookie to the Fantasy League World, the newcomer is already showing signs of becoming a manager of the highest class. A number of top additions to the side, including Ze Roberto, Andriy Voronin, Steve Finnan and Jermaine Pennant and a 4 game unbeaten run (2 wins and 2 draws) leave the young side with more than a realistic chance of promotion to Division 2.
Players Of The Month
Division 1
Roberto Ayala (Scarface)
http://espndeportes-att.espn.go.com/2003/photos2005/1016/a_raton_h.jpg
The Argentine stopper has been in awesome form this season, playing a major role in Racing Club Avenido's impressive defensive record - the club have conceded only 2 goals in 10 League games - while also getting himself on the scoresheet. The Champions have a number of well-regarded defenders at the club, but Roberto Ayala has been the standard-bearer so far this season. His aggressive defending has been a menace to any striker he has been up against, and should his form continue, you couldn't bet against him leading the club to a defensive record.
Division 2
Morten Gamst Pedersen (Rafa)
http://www.4thegame.com/media/00/03/44/pedersen_morten_gamst_brfc_pro file_2006.jpg
'Gamst' has looked like a man possessed this season. His delivery has been nothing short of world class, while posing a constant attacking threat, with his ferocious left foot. Helping FC Corleone into a promotion place after a string of sensational performances, the talented Norwegian was called back from his loan spell by Rafael Benitez, and maintained his form, with an assist for David Suazo in a tense encounter with AFC Chelsea, where his assist earned Rafa FC a point.
Division 3
David Silva (Dragonfly)
http://home.skysports.com/images/1-Jan-2005/silva.jpg
Tipped by many as certs for promotion, it came as a surprise to see MVB Arkestra languishing below the promotion places. The introduction of David Silva changed all that; the young Spaniard has offered the title chasers a real outlet on the wing, with his pace, control and skill. His versatility has proved useful, often interchanging with Andres d'Alessandro and Yossi Benayoun to further torment defenders. The club now sit at the top of the division, with dreams of promotion. With the world at his feet, David Silva looks set to blossom at MVB Arkestra.

Introducing the all new 'Player Focus' where an analysis of players will be regularly posted. Most players to be highlighted will be young stars and the lesser known players, although there will be exceptions, and if anyone has any requests, feel free to pm them my direction.
Player Focus: Peter Odemwingie
http://de.uefa.com/ml/images/players/ucl/220X220/72314.jpg
Full name: Osaze Peter Odemwingie
Date of birth: July 15, 1981 (age 25)
Place of birth: Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Height: 1.82 m
Position: Striker/winger
A player of immense pace, the young Nigerian has attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Man Utd, Arsenal and Inter Milan. Capable of playing both out wide or as a striker, his versatility is a useful asset. With an impressive strike record of 4 goals in 9 games for the Super Eagles, and starring in the 2004 African Cup Of Nations with 3 goals, he is arguably Nigeria's greatest prospect, above the likes of Jon Obi Mikel and Chinedu Ogbuke.
Odemwingie was recently at the centre of Champions League controversy, when his "goal" was ruled out, as he was deemed to have nudged Nemanja Vidic before proceeding to head the ball past Edwin van der Sar. That, however, didn't stop the young attacker from showcasing his talents in an impressive performance, where he caused the solid English defence a number of problems.
His goalscoring record of 24 goals from 56 goals alongside his speed, dribbling ability, technique, movement and athleticism suggests he can go from strength to strength and prove a success in wherever his career takes him, with a move to one of Europe's premier clubs looking a possibility in the not too distant future.
Peter Odemwingie currently has a transfer value of £8m.

Player Focus: Andreas Ottl
http://www.fcbayern.t-com.de/media/images/spieler_06_07/portraits/ottl_ima_020806.jpg
Full name: Andreas Ottl
Date of birth: March 1, 1985 (age 22)
Place of birth: Munich, Germany
Height: 1.85 m
Position: Defensive Midfielder
Munich born Andreas Ottl is one of the bright spots for Bayern Munich, on what has been a dismal season, and one they'll want to soon forget.
The 22 year old has made around 30 appearances for the German giants, having rised through the ranks of the Bayern youth setup, to catapult himself into the spotlight amongst other German youngsters, such as Philip Lahm, Christian Lell and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Ottl has shown signs of being able to fill the void which may be left by the possible summer departure of Owen Hargreaves, who continues to be linked with Premiership leaders, Manchester United, by performing the holding role capably.
Though the German may lack pace and impressive technique, he possesses good aerial ability, strong determination and mentality, a faultless work rate and good concentration and awareness. The young Bayern Munich star has also occasionally been able to get forward and support the attack when necessary, particularly on corners, where his heading ability is of a decent standard, though as a defensive midfielder, this is not his primary concern.
With the Bayern Munich squad the weakest it has been in some time, it may be up to the likes of Andreas Ottl and Christian Lell to help restore Bayern Munich to the force they once were in the Bundesliga, and on the European scene.
Andreas Ottl currently has a transfer value of £3m.

Cup Finals Preview
Countdown To The Weekend Showdowns
Copa Liberados Final
La Naranja Mechanica vs Racing Club Avenido
http://u.univision.com/contentroot/uol/art/images/deportes/fmex/2006/07/vicente_del_bosque3.jpg
Has previously defeated RCA in a cup final
http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2006/07/05/PH2006070501003.jpg
Chasing the treble
Two of the most entertaining sides in the League will meet this weekend, in a repeat of the 2005 WCL Final. That day, La Naranja triumphed 4-3 after extra time, in what was a historic occasion. This time round, under new ownership, Racing Club Avenido are chasing an unprecedented treble, but will have to be at their very best to beat a side containing some of the world's best players and one that is uncompromising both in attack and defence.
Head To Head
Samuel Eto'o vs Wayne Rooney
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/graphics/2006/10/31/ufnbon31.jpg
'Black panter' is waiting to strike
Eto'o has had his most impressive season to date, as he chases the golden boot. Despite being without the services of the majestic Ronaldinho for large parts on the season, the Cameroon ace has looked like a man possessed as he chases more silverware. He played a large part in helping his side win the thrilling WCL final against Racing Club Avenido, which has gone down in folklore as one of the greatest games the League has ever staged. Eto'o has the pace to trouble Ayala, but Puyol knows all about Eto'o and will make life difficult for the lightning predator.
http://www.nndb.com/people/585/000050435/wayne-rooney.jpg
England star has found his form
Wayne Rooney has had something of a hit and miss season. He started off quietly, although this could partially be blamed upon Capello's strict rotation policy, which despite not going as far as criticising, was noticably frustated with. Since Scolari took the reigns, the Englishman has been a revelation, rapidly going up the goalscoring charts, and winning the critics over. The game could be decided by a moment of brilliance by Rooney or Eto'o, and it'd be challenging to pick the most likely candidate.
Jamie Carragher vs Roberto Ayala
http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/icliverpool/jul2005/9/2/00061FBE-6102-12CE-B4DC0C02AC1BF824.jpg
Inspirational figure
http://www.uefa.com/ml/images/players/ucl/220X220/51473.jpg
World class stopper
The Argentine stopper has been inspirational for the champions this season, and praised by many as the biggest factor to their stupendous defensive record. Carragher, meanwhile has been partnered by a number of players, but has never failed to look at his assured, determined best. Both will have their work cut out in this game; will either finally crack under the pressure of fans expectation?
Xavi Hernandez vs Cesc Fabregas
http://www.arsenal.com/Images/f/fabregas_0607mancity.jpg
Remarkable talent
The brilliant Spaniards have been leaving their fans in awe with spectacular showcases of passing. Both have predictably failed to find the net perhaps as often as they might, but this is less a criticism, more an indicator of them being the definition of "team player" and have chipped in with a number of assists, and started off a high percentage of their team's attacks. If either can hit their best form at the weekend, expect whoever that is to help their team to victory.
Previous meetings: Scarface 3-0 Barry, Barry 0-1 Scarface
Kagame Cup Final
Old London Town vs Asgard Utd
Two promotion challengers take to the battlefield, with both enjoying impressive campaigns. While Old London Town have been flying in D2 all season, and have now secured both promotion to the top tier and the D2 Championship, Asgard FC have been steadily picking up place, and remain in contention for the highly sought after 2nd place. Now that promotion has been clinched, you could forgive OLT for taking their eye of the ball slightly, but with a WCL Final still in their sights, both teams remain fully focused on what lies ahead.
Rafael van der Vaart vs Diego
http://www.hsv.de/uploads/pics/RTEmagicC_m_Rafael_van_der_Vaa rt_01.jpg
Player of the season contender
The supremely gifted playmakers have shown an exceptional level of both ability and consistently, and been key members of their side. The duo are worth their weight in gold, and their value cannot be under-estimated for each side. Both are likely to start on the left, but will frequently be seen moving into more central areas. Van der Vaart is likely to trouble Eboue, so do not be surprised to see the Dutchman often double teamed.
http://espndeportes-att.espn.go.com/2003/photos2006/0817/a_diego_vt.jpg
Stylish performer
Diego, on the other hand, will cause more problems centrally, and Daniele De Rossi will have to be well disciplined and keep an eye on the classy Brazilian.
In a season that has won them over even more fans, and seen their value rise, who will get their hands on first ever Kagame Cup?
Andrea Pirlo vs Marcos Senna
http://www.sports.fr/fr/football/images/photosjoueurs/12637.jpg
Will hope to disrupt the Italian
http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/06/wc/pirloR130606_228x251.jpg
One of the world's best midfielders
While not being much of a contest in terms of footballing skill, Senna is likely to be given the job of sticking closely to Pirlo and putting him under some intense pressure. The Italian has the wonderful ability of finding space and picking a pass, but Senna will prove a tricky customer to shake off. A lot will be determined by if Senna can keep his cool; he is likely to commit a number of clever fouls on the Italian, but will need to make sure he doesn't overstep the mark.
Javier Saviola vs Dimitar Berbatov
Two of the most in-form strikers at the moment, with 'El Conejo' on the verge of the 10 goal mark for the season, and Berbatov developing a solid understanding with Mario Gomez.
Saviola is arguably the more accomplished finisher, however Berbatov is likely to drop off and link from midfield to Gomez, in a style that few
can manage.
Certainly two potential match-winners.
http://images.sportsnetwork.com/soccer/getty/international/argentina/2006/saviola_javier.jpg
Will 'The Rabbit' have a trick up his sleeve?
Both games in Division 2 between these two teams has produced some superb football, and the final is expected to be even more entertaining.
Past meetings: Del Piero 2-1 Cranie, Cranie 2-2 Del Piero
Peace Cup Final
FC Cali Clown vs MVB Arkestra
http://www.maurybrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/02/world_baseball_classic_trophy. gif
Similarly to the Kagame Cup Final, both teams competing are at the upper ends of their table, and have performed well throughout the season, although both have suffered more disappointments than their Division 2 counterparts.
Despite being hotly tipped as a cert for promotion, MVB Arkestra have struggled to take a hold of the division, and as it stand, are outside the promotion places. With games against the top two still to come, this could all change, however the season has certainly been more of a struggle than first imagined, with The Green Army starting the season in blistering form and the emergence of Real Verdedera.
FC Cali Clown are a few points off promotion, and have been in slightly disappointing form lately, although Didier Drogba has continued to impress, showing great determination and mental strength.
Prodigious talent, Samir Nasri, is rumoured to be in line for his debut.
Didier Drogba vs Pauleta
http://www.4thegame.com/media/00/03/48/drogba_didier_cfc_profile_2006 .jpg
Incredible force
Two contenders for the Division 3 top scorer award face off in a game that is likely to be decided by few goals, if past encounters are anything to go by. Pauleta will fancy his chances against Rocha and the gifted yet inexperienced Pique while, despite being a top centre-back, Ronaldo Naldo is facing a huge task keeping the powerful Ivorian under control.
Pavel Nedved vs David Silva
http://fr.uefa.com/ml/images/players/ucl/220X220/64257.jpg
Rising to stardom
World class performer over the past decade meets exceptional young talent who can take over the mantle of "world class winger" from the Czech legend in the near future. David Silva has performed fantastically in the second half of the season, while Pavel Nedved has been in what could be considered patchy form over the course of the season, but both have the ability to turn the game on it's head in an instant and prove to be the match winner.
Niko Kovac vs Sulley Muntari
http://www.uefa.com/multimediafiles/photo/euro2004/players/149627_mediumsquare.jpg
Limited chance to impress
The midfield battle is likely to be very combative, and this battle could decide the way the pendulum swings. So fasr this season, Niko Kovac hasn't seen as much action as he would have liked, and maybe deserved, but this may make the Croat even more motivated to lead his team to victory this weekend.
http://www.goal.com/images/2811_news.jpg
Consistent
Muntari has been one of MVB's star men this season, and one final strong showing could be the difference between ecstacy and huge disappointment.

Maresca on his way out of Turin?
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41393000/jpg/_41393651_maresca_getty.jpg
Maresca: Flagging down a taxi?
Reports from the the Stadio Olimpico aren't confirmed, it is understood however that ace midfielder Enzo Maresca could be leaving LSA come the end of the season. While an accomplished player Marcello Lippi has struggled to find a place for Maresca, who has in turn played few games since Lippi's decision to go with a three man midfield. LSA Supreme Gigli was questioned earlier as he left a board meeting, but he could not be drawn on transfer dealings.
"Many players may leave come the transfer window, many players may come in. We are currently happy with the players in our sqaud however, only if we receive a sizeable offer will we consider any major departures. I cannot however categorically state whether any of our players will still be here next season, I can't say as I don't know what the future holds."
"If a club makes a bid we will then decide whether, or not, to proceed with negotiations. We have a couple of players on loan this season, and we may look to make those deals permanent or strengthen the squad in other areas."
It is thought that a bid of in excess of £10 million would be seen as 'sizeable', but with promotion being a key target for LSA next season any departure of key players will have to see the squad strengthened.

I was just curious how this all went down. I think the managers should have had a little say, as at first glance it appears wan got the stronger squad.

Out of interest, why do you think wan's squad is stronger? I find it hard to work out the superior squad, but if anything, i'd give the edge to your squad, mainly due to Petric and Eduardo Da Silva forming a fantastic Croat pairing, and with support from Pires, you can't go wrong in attack.
You'll have plenty of time to change things, anyhow.

I dont have a problem with the squad as long as people understand the players rather then picking who they reconginzed by name. Thats my top pairing at the moment anyway with Maciej Zurawski probably being a sub for them. Will see.
I think the squads look pretty balanced really. I can't believe nobody had Pires, Doyle, Pazzani or Edu.

Do your best to promote your lesser known players with videos, stats etc in your team thread and in here, and that should help your case.
Eduardo Da Silva has a ridiculously good goalscoring record, so you've got a golden boot contender there for a start.
Never fear with Super Bob (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugy-sSA9oco) in your team.
@TG: It's actually Real Betis' Edu, rather than the former Arsenal midfielder, but he's also an excellent player and more versatile.
EDIT: Watching that Pires video made me realise how much I miss D'Artagnan :crymore:
Yeah I meant the Betis one, he is a very classy player and when I looked through the squads I was surprised to see him. Barry has the Valencia Edu I think.

Yeah, i've liked him since his early days at Celta Vigo. He never really gets the praise he deserves.
Being pretty good on Football Manager never hurt him. That's how I first learnt of him. I remember him being compared to Raul in his younger years but he has sort of had a position change.
I might have to do a Player Focus on Antonio Puerta tomorrow, he has been doing some good stuff for Sevilla lately. Watch this space.

MINI CLEAR OUT
http://www.sportisland.net/archivio/uploaded/inter_mancini_conferenza_stamp a_ajax.jpg
At a press conference today Old London Town Manager Roberto Mancini has stated that he will be having some what of a mini clear out this summer.
He has been delighted with the teams hard efforts and progress this season but feels that he needs to get a little bit extra class in the squad if Old Town are to survive in the top division.
Mancini said - 'We are training hard and preparing for a big Cup final against Racing Club Avenido at the moment, Our last league game is not a priority and I will be resting players. I am very proud of the teams achievements this season.
But I will say this, after we have played the final no matter what the outcome I will be producing a list of players that will be available to move clubs. I have had a few team players vent their frustrations about lack of first team football, I simply say it is impossible to keep everyone happy, if they do not like it then they can move on'.
