LSA Originale? vs Wan Seattlewangsa FC
Matchday - 2

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/columns/molinaro/gfx/del-piero_392.jpg

Preview:

This week the Stadio Olimpico plays host to Seattlewangsa, the second game of the season again sees LSA playing with the home advantage, but that's not the only advantage they may have. LSA Originale? are coming into the game on the back of a confident performance and three points, Capello's men are facing an uphill struggle after being penalised by ten points after their involvement in the first day scandal.

Despite the emphatic 3-0 win, Lippi is expected to make some changes to the starting line-up Gialuigi Buffon picked up a knock in training and is doubtful for the weekend. Raffaele Palladino, however, is set to start having impressed in the ten minutes against Real Lerida. Impressive loanee Antonio Cassano is expected to be confined to the bench despite doing relatively well on the right hand side of the attacking trio.

A lot of the focus will perhaps be directed at LSA captain, Alessandro Del Piero, who having already scored one free kick, drew a lot of plaudits. He connected well with Crespo in the opening game and created a lot of the Torineri's best opportunities, however whether he'll be fit to start is questionable. He only just passed a fitness test for the first game, which has seemingly taken it's toll. We shall have to, again, wait to see whether he can be ready in time to once more lead LSA to victory.

Breaking News: Del Piero fails late fitness test and doesn't even make the substitutes bench, in his absence the captain's armband is expected to pass on to Richard Dunne.

Match Report:

Confidence should have been high for LSA after a great opening performance against Real Lerida, however after the late withdrawal of talismanic captain Del Piero, fans were a little anxious. Lippi named several changes from the victorious first day side, with last season's wonderkid Sergio Aguero getting his first start of the season. There were also starts for Massimo Ambrosini and loan signing Cassetti.

Hernan Crespo managed to allay any fears only moments after kick off, Alberto Aquilani picked up the ball in the middle of park, spraying a long ball towards Aguero. The Argentinian brought the ball down out of the air before turning Rocha left and right until he found space to slip in international compatriot Crespo for a simple one on one. The experienced Crespo slipped the ball beneath Abbondanzieri, with all the composure expected from LSA's ace hitman.

The Argentine proved his credentials again only minutes latter, after a sustained spell of pressure Aguero's strike could only be parried away for a corner. Aquilani drifted the ball across to the far post, Crespo having freed himself from any marking drove the ball toward the bottom corner with a vicious header. Abbondanzieri did brilliantly to get a hand to the effort at all, but such was the power of the header that one hand was not enough to keep it out.

The team could perhaps be forgiven for getting carried away, however they were quickly brought back down to earth when Seattlewangsa's Lucarelli lashed a twenty-five yard strike inches over the bar. Had Lucarelli's strike been a little lower the game could have been more even, however it came as a wake up call and LSA started to dominate once more. The game was effectively killed off before half time when Aguero's sterling performance was rounded off with a startling strike from the edge of the area. With the Torineri piling on the pressure the half-time couldn't come fast enough for Capello's men.

The second half was a much quieter affair, with LSA Originale? seemingly taking their foot off the petal somewhat. Marcello Lippi seemed contented to rest some players, apparently convinced the game was won, and who could argue? Crespo made way for Tommaso Rocchi, while Aquilani was replaced by Cassano who pushed up slightly more. The whole pace of the game slowed and there were few chances for either side. Despite a slowing end to the game, Lippi has more than enough reason to be pleased considering the way in which his side put the opposition to the sword and effectively killed off the game early on.

LSA Originale: Curci; Dunne, Dainelli, Cassetti, M.Cech; Ambrosini, Aquilani (Cassano 69), Angulo, Palladino; S.Aguero, Crespo (Rocchi 62)

AMAZING ARTETA SECURES FOCA'S WIN!

http://www.gazzetta.it/Hermes%20Foto/2007/06/28/0JK990CH--346x212.jpg
Goalscorer Bianchi.

Mikel Arteta was on the receiving end of lavish praise following his magnificent man-of-the-match performance. Having seen NY Calcio level through Eduardo da Silva after Rolando Bianchi had given Foca the lead, Spaniard Arteta scored a fantastic strike for the first three points of the season.

Ian Holloway rung in a few changes for the visit to New York, Peter Odemwingie and Guillermo Ochoa came in and Glen Johnson and Christian Abbiati missed out. Royston Drenthe slotted in at left-back and Luciano Zauri swapped flanks allowing Odemwingie to play the left-wing role.

After a steady start, it was Foca who created teh first opening. A piece of good linkup between Odemwingie and Drenthe meant a deep cross to the back post found the Kader Keita who pulled it back for an on-rushing Joey Barton to hammer. However, good pressure was applied by Sol Campbell and Barton's effort was always rising and found its way into the stand.

This seemed to spring both teams into life and it was NY's turn to go onto the offensive. Good play by Stephen Ireland in skipping past Joey Barton. He slipped Quagliarella in, however, the Italian's touch was heavy and Guillermo Ochoa rushed out and smothered the ball.

This was the last significant move of that half. After the break both sides were eager to get the first goal. Rolando Bianchi came close to getting off the mark for the season and his Foca career on the 55th minute. Kader Keita fed the ball into Bianchi's feet, and he rolled centre-half Cribari. Spying an opening, the on-loan Striker saw Andres Palop slightly off his line and went for an audacious lob. The exquisite play by Bianchi wasn't rewarded with teh deserved gaol however, as the ball bounced off the bar and over.

Four minutes later though, Bianchi got his earned goal. Tricky play from Royston Drenthe exhibiting some bewildering skills drew a rash lunge from Bosingwa. Arteta lined-up the ball to deliever from the left wing and whipped it in with pace and curl. Rolando Bianchi rose highest and his glancing flick saw the side netting bulge as the ball nestled in there past the flailing Palop.

NY seemed fired up by this and from the restart Bosingwa sought to make amends, charging down the flank and cutting in, he fed Eduardo the ball. The Croat from Rio used his accelteraton to show Hofland and Mathijsen his studs as he raced onto the beautifully weighted pass. As Ochoa raced out to meet Eduardo, the quick-thinking striker lifted the ball over the sliding 'keeper and the ball bounced into the net to cap a neat move.

The game tightened up here on and both teams looked unlikely to take many risks. The game was crying out for a creative spark or moment of genius to make something special happen and to give the boost the game so desired.

Thirteen minutes from the end, this came to fruition. A ball tossed in from Keita was nodded away seemingly from danger by Campbell as Foca looked for Bianchi to get his second of the game. The cleared ball fell for Mikel Arteta who trapped the ball and opened his body in one fluid touch and, having seen a few sighters go wide and over, arched a thrity-yard effort over the crowded penatly area and left the hapless Palop rooted tot he spot.

Jubilant goal-scorer Mikel Arteta.

It was an exquisite finish and Arteta, throwing his fists in the air with joy, galloped over to celebrate with his slightly awe-struck coaching staff. Their was a stunned silence about the stadium, apart from a small corner of travelling away fans who were a sea of disorientated yet blissful red and green.

Foca stood firm against the predictable on-slaught from their now sparked-into-life opponents and defended their goal resolutely. A very weak penalty claim from Robert Pires was flatly turned down by the referee who was proved right from later video evidence. The final whistle came and brought the first ever three points for Foca Juniors after just their second game.

A delighted Ian Holloway spoke of his joy at his players performance, "Fantastic, everyone of those lads in there has done their job and done it well. Mikel Arteta deserves special praise because he's just gone, 'Hello, I think I fancy doing something brilliant here' and knocked a cracking ball into the danger zone for the first, which the Roland has got his head onto. Then for Mik's I nearly fell off my chair, it's was a sight to behold."

An understandably chuffed Ian Holloway will have to consider his tactics for the visit to Real Lerida, as Foca face the fellow newboys this weekend. The dangerous attack of Milito and Yakubu could hand a return for Abbiati or a debut for Dutch centre-back Ryan Donk. As expected however, Holloway is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Preview:

Verdadera have started their campaign off with six points out of a possible nine, a tally which a former division 3 club should be very proud of. According to reports, Kenny Dalglish is set to tweak his side, and to change the club's natural 4-4-2 formation. Cristian Brocchi is set to make his league debut for the Menorcan outfit, Brocchi picked up a knock in pre-season which has kept him out for a few weeks, however, looked impressive during training this week.

The opposition are a hardworking side with a strong defense, Taylor and Vidic guarding stopper, Paul Robinson, is a tough wall to break down. Perhaps the motive for Dalglish to play with three attacking players. £9m signing Amauri has struggled settling in at El Kop, but Dalglish publicly gave him the thumbs up for this week. With a strong squad to choose from, and for a promotion challenging side, no disrespect to the opposing team, but this is a must win game for Las Aguilas.

Match Report

Norway United made the trip to Menorca on Friday evening and they may have wished they didn't in the first five minutes as Amauri opened up the scoring in his first touch in Verdadera's white. Torres played the Brazilian in, Amauri had no competition from the opposition's defenders, and he dinked calmly over the keeper's head. The goal was a huge blow for the visitors so early on.

It was fair to say the first half was controlled by Las Aguilas, who were held off only by the opposition defence. The midfield battle was won quite easily by the trio in midfield, Cristian Brocchi, Owen Hargreaves and Juninho Pernambucano. Ryan Babel made the other serious goal chance, when his thundering effort crashed off the bar.

The shock equaliser came in the first ten minutes of the second period, in the only lapse in concentration all game by the Real defense. The goal came from, United's only real threat, Ukranian Andrei Voronin. Voronin slid the ball past Santiago Canizares, whom had no chance of saving a great shot.

Fortunately for the home crowd, Dalglish's men fought back hard, immediately threatening the goal, this time with John Arne Riise who rocketed a shot from distance, a trademark shot from the Norwegian. It was Riise though who assisted Torres' fourth goal of the season, the spaniard gave Verdadera back the lead as he burst past Steven Taylor and then rounded the United stopper and finished into an empty net.

The game looked done and dusted, Norway United failed to apply the pressure needed to grind out a point and remained flat, almost waiting for Verdadera to spit their Venom again. Verdadera took all three points and putting them second in the first four weeks.

Foca Juniors vs LSA Originale?
Matchday - 4

http://www.svenskafans.com/image/1/15270.jpg

Preview:

The latest reports floating around the Stadio Olimpico are that Azzurri hero Antonio Di Natale is to get his first start of the season for LSA. The pacey frontman managed to score an impressive brace for the national side this week against the Ukraine, keeping Italy's qualification bid on track. A fine header and a sublime second half strike were enough to see Italy finish 2-1 victors, and Di Natale awarded a man of the match award.

Despite being the fourth game, this will be the Torineri first test away from their Turinese fortress as they travel to Foca Juniors. Lippi has so far guided the team to three straight victories, and will be looking to make it a fourth this time on the road. Fresh from victories over promotion rivals mBv Arkestra and a cup win over New York Calcio, LSA go into the game in fine form and brimming with confidence.

Ian Holloway's Foca Juniors on the other hand are currently topping the bottom half of the table in sixth, having won, drawn and lost one of there three league games. Having had mixed fortunes thus far they would likely be happy to take anything from this game, and are therefore expected to set out in a manner designed to stall LSA's impressive attack.

The question is: 'Will it be enough to stop the Torineri?'

Match Report:

LSA Originale? held to a draw as Foca Juniors leave the bus at home an anchor a ferry in front of the goal instead. The game started at a slow pace with each team careful not to make the first mistake. It soon became apparent however that the vast majority of Foca Juniors players had an unconquerable fear, to the uneducated it would seem that the Torineri half was awash with the plague.

The it took until the fifthteenth minute for Foca to make an attack, it was however quickly nullified as the solitary figure of Rolando Bianchi was efficiently dispossessed. LSA Originale? continued to pile on the pressure however the legion of Foca defenders were manning the penalty area. Finally Aguero got in behind Drenthe only for his cross to be cleared by Mathijsen, Aquilani's right foot found the rebound only for his shot to sail over the bar, much to Abbiati's relief.

Holloway was clearly delighted when the referee brought the first half to a close, Foca Juniors having survived the barrage led by Del Piero. The second half began in similar fashion, with Foca attacks few and far between. This time however Lippi's men managed to find their way through the sea of bodies, Sergio Aguero finally picking up a ball on the edge of the area before driving low past Abbiatti's right.

With their keep breached Foca had little option to press on a little and look for an equaliser, however LSA were also attempting to kill of the game. This resulted in by far the most exciting period of the game, as Foca searched for a goal the gaps started to appear allowing Crespo in on goal but Aquilani's through ball was wasted by a poor side foot, easily collected by Abbiati.

it wasn't until late on, when horror struck for the LSA faithful, thier very own Rolando Bianchi got his head to a fantastic cross from Dutchman Royston Drenthe. Dunne, having stumbled, left Bianchi to ghost in for a free header that Buffon has little hope of getting to. With the score at 1-1, Foca resumed their defensive positions yet a loss of concentration allowed Hernan Crespo a glorious opportunity... his head sailed over the bar despite being unmarked and Christian Abbiati lying prone on the floor.

Lippi looked disgusted as LSA Originale? drop their first points of the season.

LSA Originale?: Buffon; Dunne, Kaladze, Cassetti, Pasqual; M.Diarra, Aquilani (Ambrosini 75), Del Piero; S. Aguero, Di Natale (Rocchi 86), Crespo.

Streak Ended!

http://pub.tv2.no/multimedia/na/archive/00218/michael_ballack__ty_218423c.jp g
Midnight Riders lose for first time in 22 league matches

London, England - Manager Steve Nicol and his club experienced something that they had not in 22 matches last weekend. A loss.

The Midnight Riders Football Club had put together an impressive string of 22 matches without suffering a defeat. The streak dated back almost an entire season and a half.

The run was unprecedented in the second division of the Fantasy League but the club from Boston hardly seem bothered.

"I don't think it is anything to get alarmed about," manager Steve Nicol said. "Our goal, as it has been the past three season I've been here, is to gain promotion. Plenty of teams through the years have suffered a defeat and gained promotion. Last year we avoided losing a single match but still missed out on getting promoted."

The loss dropped the Riders to 2-1-1 to start the season, but they are still optimistic for the rest of the season.

"We're only two points out of a promotion spot," midfielder Gareth Barry pointed out. "We just need to go back and prepare and avoid the mistakes that let us down."

MRFC was let down in stoppage time when a ball skipped on the wet pitch past defender Lillian Thuram and found Prohawks striker Nicolas Anelka in front of the net where he easily finished.

"It was a big win for us, you always have to prepare 100% when you face a Steve Nicol team," Prohawks chairman Rambo said. "They are always right there in every match. They're very consistent, we hope to take this match and continue on to bigger things."

The Midnight Riders look to avenge their loss against table leading Asgård United.

LSA Originale? vs New York Calcio
Matchday - 5

http://www.lazionet.net/media/immagini/mag/giocatori/rocchi2.jpg

Preview:

LSA Originale? have dropped their first points in the season, next they have to play host to second placed New York Calcio. This will be a big test for Lippi's men, they have to show their character and get past the mistakes of last week. Yet they can't forget, learning from mistakes will be vital and strikers will have to take their chances.

Calcio's Tony Calzone will lead his men to the Olimpico on the back of three wins and only a single point behind their opponents. Lippi is expected to make a number of changes for this game, Raffaele Palladino returns and goal machine Tommaso Rocchi gets his first game of the campaign. Rocchi will lead the line, supported by the enigmatic Aguero and the aforementioned Palladino.

Lippi will hope his experienced backline will return to keeping clean sheets, especially with Gianluigi Buffon between the sticks. The Torineri faithful will, surely, only accept a victory here... but can LSA keep their 100% home record intact?

Match Report:

The game ended in a relatively comfortable 3-0 win as LSA Originale? returned to winning ways back at the Olimpico. NY Calcio fielded a simple 4-4-2 with Rafael Sobis leading the line, however the American outfit lacked any real incision. The game kicked off at a slow pace, both teams playing some rather scrappy football, with only glimpses of the true potential. With a tense atmosphere the first goal was important to settle whichever team managed to find it.

Despite very few chances besides, Palladino managed to break the offside trap getting in behind Kuffour before finishing very comfortably, with a side foot beyond Aouate. As expected the goal gave some life to the game, yet Tony Calzone would have been worried as the Torineri started to get into a rythym. Aquilani and Almiron both going close from distance, and Rocchi spurning a useful chance. NY Calcio looked quite relieved to hear the half time whistle, for some welcome relief.

It last only as long as the break as LSA continued exactly where they left off, Sergio Almiron taking only three and a half minutes to net LSA's second goal with a beautifully delicate free kick from the edge of the area. Lippi refused to allow his men to take their foot off the pedal and they continued to pound against the defence of NY Calcio. The pressure paid further dividends as Tommaso Rocchi capitalised on a defensive area, rifling his drive passed a dispondent keeper.

With Aguero, Palladino and Rocchi looking to impress there were further chances where New York's defence excelled to keep LSA Originale? from finding a fourth. Despite the missed chances late on, Marcello Lippi confirmed he delighted with the team's response to their draw with Foca Juniors and that he wanted a similar performance in the next game.

Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta, targets?

According to reports from Spain's leading media association, El Pais, their native club, Real Verdadera, are already drawing up plans to bolster their squad in the mid-season window.

News leaked from Aguilas' HQ that the Menorcans could be set to make approaches for third Division duo, Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta. Benayoun who is currently on loan to fellow Division 2 side, Cali FC, is currently owned by MBV Arkestra. Kenny Dalglish 'apparently' is interested in the Israeli attacker, but the story seems unlikely because of the full season trade loan originally agreed between Arkestra and Cali.

Verdadera are lacking a natural left midfielder with only Babel, whom likes to play more as a Wing/Forward. Mikel Arteta, a key figure in the Foca Juniors camp is considered an option for Real and they could well swoop for the Spaniard in the mid-season window.

Out of the two, it is obvious which story is believable. However, we are yet to have concrete confirmation from either party..

The Season so Far

http://www.rainews24.rai.it/ran24/immagini/iaquinta.jpg

MBV Arkestra 1-1 Dial Square

Dial Square got their first point away to promotion rivals MBV Arkestra. In a tight game, Dial Square showed all their defensive pride and counter-attacking ability, as they were pinned back inside their own half for most of the game. It was only due to the commanding defensive work of Andrea Barzagli and some stunning saves from Marco Amelia that they came out of the game with anything at all. The defence had only been breached once, despite the heavy onslaught with ten minutes remaining, when substitute Aimo Diana's clearance fell at the feet of Gabriel Agbonlahor, who outpaced Emiliano Moretti and Gael Givet, before centering the ball for Vincenzo Iaquinta to tap past Oliver Kahn.

Norway United 1-0 Dial Square

A loss is never easy to take, but Dial Square can feel proud of their performance against Norway United where the D3 team held their higher division opposition to a 0-0 draw for over an hour. However, in the end the resilient Dial Square were broken down, when a through ball from Maniche found Miroslav Klose, who slotted the ball past Marco Amelia.

Dial Square 4-2 FC Planet Express

Dial Square got their first win of the seasonin front of a capacity crowd at the Bernabeu. The visitors, FC Planet Express, had been put in front early on by Theofanis Gekas, but a bizarre tactical move employed by FC Planet Express, which saw their left-sided and right-sided players swap sides cost them as Aimo Diana crossed in from the right, after beating Dario Srna, for Raul Tamudo to head home the equaliser. Max Tonetto then gave Dial Square the lead as he hammered home a shot, with his left foot, from outside the area. Tim Cahill made it 3-1 just after half-time when Max Tonetto's through ball found him one on one with Antti Niemi, whom he slotted the ball past. Dario Srna put FC Planet express back into it with a curling shot from the left, but Raul Tamudo made the points safe as he took down Valerien Ismael's long through ball and then hammered it past Niemi.

Wan Seattlewangsa 1-1 Dial Square

In a game in which the home side dominated, Dial Square were lucky to come away with a draw. Cristiano Lucarelli had headed the home side into an early lead and they should have scored many more, but once again Dial Square defensive capabilities shone through with Valerien Ismael brilliantly filling the boots of the injured Andrea Barzagli. In the eighty-ninth minute, Max Tonetto found himself free on the left-hand side. His cross was headed away by Jaap Stam, but only as far as Marcos Assuncao who hammered in a stunning volley to get Dial Square the points.

Dial Square 2-1 Rafa FC

Carlo Ancelotti stuck with the same team, which had given Norway United a tough match in the last WCL match. The team was working well and with 21 minutes gone, Tim Cahill prodded home after Silvio Proto could only parry Marcos Assuncao's powerful drive. Raul Tamudo doubled the lead just before the hour mark, when he headed home a corner from Assuncao and the game seemed to be over. However on 83 minutes, Giampaulo Pazzini cleverly chipped over Marco Amelia after Joseph Yobo's long ball. Despite this Dial Square held out for the win.

Dial Square 2-0 Foca Juniors

Dial Square, finally showed the kind of form that the fans were waiting for against highly-rated Foca Juniors, the only team to take points off LSA Originale. Luis Fabiano's stunning solo effort started it off after he held off challenges from Hedwiges Maduro, Luciano Zauri and Joris Mathijsen, before slotting it past Guillermo Ochoa. Foca Juniors fought back, Joey Barton's long range effort hit the bar and Leroy Lita felt he should have had a penalty, after Mario Yepes seemingly hauled him down inside the box. However, Marcelo made the points safe just before half-time as he volleyed home Gabriel Agbonlahor's cross from close range. From then on Dial Square shut up shop, although it could have been three had Vincenzo Iaquinta reached Gilberto's defense splitting pass, but the score stayed 2-0.

Dial Square 1-0 Wan Seattlewangsa

In a close match, Wan Seattlewangsa came close to grabbing a point against Dial Square, as they had done in the league. However, in a close and feisty encounter, Dial Square came away with the three points, after Vincenzo Iaquinta rose above Ricardo Rocha to head in Marcos Assuncao's curling corner. After this, Jermaine Defoe went close to equalising twice for the visitors, but Dial Square held out for the win.

Dial Square 2-0 Rafa FC

Dial Square stretched their winning run to 4 matches with another win over Rafa FC. Tim Cahill put Dial Square ahead after forty minutes after Frank Baumann's long-range drive was deflected and fell at his feet, just in front of opposition keeper Silvio Proto. Cahill preceded to skilfully go around him and passed the ball into the back of the net. Then Dial Square received a penalty when Ilsinho accidentally tripped Max Tonetto in the box, and Luis Fabiano made no mistake with the penalty, sending Silvio Proto the wrong way.

Racing Club Avenido 2-0 Dial Square

In a match in which no-one expected Dial Square to win, they did quite well to only lose 2-0 despite a possesion statistic of 71% to 29% in favour of Avenido. Marcos Assuncao's long-range free-kick was the closest Dial square came to a chance, before Joaquin skilfully tricked his way past Marcelo and Mario Yepes, before slotting through the legs of Marco Amelia. RCA continued their onslaught and were able to hit the bar four times and both posts, before Didier Drogba expertly volleyed in on 81 minutes, to make the score 2-0.

Valjuan C de F 0-2 Dial Square

Dial Square continued their good form in the league, when they visited Valjuan C de F. A goalless first-half caused Dial Square to make a change, off came Francesco Tavano and on came Vincenzo Iaquinta. It turned out to be an inspired change as Iaquinta held off Khalid Boulahrouz and headed down Gabriel Agbonlahor's high cross for Luis Fabiano to volley in. The points were then secured when Marcos Assuncao smashed home a stunning thirty-yard free-kick past the amazed Oscar Sanchez, who remained rooted to the ground. This win moves Dial Square up into second in the league, but they have tough games against Real Lerida and LSA Originale coming up..

FOCA FIRE THREE!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41018000/jpg/_41018253_arteta_pa.jpg
Centre of speculation/Captain fantastic.

Before Foca Juniors struck an overdue win, it was events off-the-field which no doubt struck fear into some of their faithful fans. After a leak in the Spanish media, it seemed Real Verdadera were set to test the resolve of the purse-strings of Foca.

However, the post-match press conference sent a ferocious swipe at any preying eyes looking to steal the diminutive midfielder - both from Ian Holloway and Arteta himself.

The game started brightly with Seattlewangsa taking an eleven minute lead through Egyptian Mohammed Zidan. However, Foca ended up over-running Seattlewangsa in the midfield much to the dismay of the hapless and lonely Dudu.

Keita and Bianchi struck before the half-hour mark. Many more chances flew Foca's way and passed until the 87th minute when Giles Barnes used some neat footwork to glide past the defenders and stroke the ball into the net on just his second start.

Sparks flew in the post-match press conference when Ollie spoke out about the speculation, "We made Mikel captain today and he was delighted about that. There's been a disgusting attempt to unsettle him to get him away from here."

Holloway fumed, "We've had lots of approaches for a few of our players, but all of them are happy here and are enjoying the way we play. Mikel is an integral part of our plan.

"It seems people think we're a little club who will roll over as soon as big club comes sniffing around. No chance. We want these good players to develop into players who are going to get us up the leagues. Give us a season or three, and we'll be beating the team he's been linked with, it'd be little more than a sideways step. Daft."

Arteta then came out to speak, "I love it here. If the manager wants me to stay then I am delighted to stay. I hope to bring promotion for these fans before I even consider a move.

"It was good result today, and we got our second win which we hoped to get sooner than now. Hopefully this is the foundation for us to progress and get the ball rolling and then we can take the momentum into the secondhalf of the season. Where I hope to be scoring a few goals for Foca!" The flamboyant Spaniard winked.

It seems as though Foca have poured ice-cold water on these flames of transfer rumours.

Get it right up ye.

Arteta, subject of attention...

Reports arose this weekend linking yet another Spaniard to Menorcan giants, Real Verdadera. However, these reports were quickly quashed by the subject's manager and the subject himself. The subject, yet again, up for discussion is Foca Juniors midfielder, Mikel Arteta.

Foca enjoyed a handsome victory dealt to Seattlewangsa this weekend, but Verdadera head coach Pako Ayesteran claims that the good result was "tainted and overshadowed unnecessarily" by harsh words from Juniors' former Bristol Rovers player and current manager, Ian Holloway.

"We made Mikel captain today and he was delighted about that. There's been a disgusting attempt to unsettle him to get him away from here." Holloway stated in frustration.

"It seems people think we're a little club who will roll over as soon as big club comes sniffing around. No chance. We want these good players to develop into players who are going to get us up the leagues. Give us a season or three, and we'll be beating the team he's been linked with, it'd be little more than a sideways step. Daft." Holloway continued in an aggressive fashion.

In a adverse to Holloway's tone, Ayesteran was quick to defend his team. "It is a rapacious response from Holloway and I think he will look back on his comments and regret them to some extent. Holloway evidently isn't happy with the story conjured by the media, and I emphasize the media as culprits on this occasion. Instead he has taken his fury out on a team, who is completely innocent in this matter."

"We wouldn't be stupid enough to discuss transfer matters to the press, so how can it be our fault? Of course it is possible for the media to pick up information and "rumours" but in this case, it is entirely un-true." Ayesteran continued.

Hi Sidwell, Bye Geremi!Seattlewangsa manager Fabio Capello has saluted his new signing, Steve Sidwell.

Capello reserved particular praise for the signing of Sidwell, who completed his move from FC United on 17th November.

"He is a player I like," Capello told WanTV.

"He is a player with the mentality which is very welcome in our dressing room and our philosophy.

"He is wishing for new things for his career, playing for a big club and winning titles is a dream for any young player so yes he is a player I would like to have and I told the board we should try to sign."

Transfer Window Frenzy

http://www.infobae.com/adjuntos/imagenes/13/0161344B.jpg
New Uruguayan signing, Ezequiel Lavezzi

The opening of the transfer window rarely sees a gentle opening day, as this mid-season was no different. Virtually every club had their representatives sifting through the dirt to unearth gems in the form of free agents. LSA Originale? head coach Marcello Lippi previously stated he had a number of targets in mind, it would seem he has got at least some of those. Lippi's men brought in a total of five players with in the first few hours of the window opening.

Torineri fans gave a fond farewell to big names this window with both Alessandro Del Piero and Hernan Crespo departing for pastures new. Del Piero has been exchanged for former Racing Club Combine Harvester star David Albelda, who will remain with the D1 side until the end of the season on loan. Hernan Crespo was accompanied for his trip my Massimo Ambrosini, who struggled to find playing time at LSA, to D3 side MBV Arkestra. LSA Originale? received two players in turn, tricky winger Andres D'Alessandro and Kevin Kuranyi, a striker with a phenomenal scoring record.

The departures didn't stop there, Vedran Corluka and Alexis Sanchez returned from loan seeing Antonio Cassano also heading back. Corluka's return seemingly signalled the end of Grygera's tenure at the club as he was sold to Midnight Runners for £5m. Alexis Sanchez will face stiff competition from LSA stalwarts Di Natale and Palladino, as well as some of the new faces. While many managers were chasing German starlet, Toni Kroos, LSA representatives were thrashing out deals for Uruguayan Luis Suarez and Uruguayan Ezequiel Lavezzi for £4.5m and £3.5m respectively.

Marcello Lippi is still to busy to speak to the press, however the club did release an official statement: "The club would like to announce the signings of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Andres D'Alessandro, Kevin Kuranyi, Luis Suarez and David Albelda. We are sorry to see friends such as Del Piero and Crespo depart and wish them all the best in future endeavours." Giovanni Cobolli Gigli did however have time to give awaiting journalists a few quick comments.

"We've said goodbye to some truly great players and they will be missed, however in the same vein we have brought in some terrific talent. A lot of which is youthful and will serve the club well for long into the future, we're ecstatic with the signings we've made. We're currently in negotiations with Antonio Nocerino and things seem to be going smoothly, it should only be a matter of time now"

"Gelson and I have discussed the matter of his lack of first team football, he asked for a move to a club where he can get more playing time. How can I deny a young lad that? That is exactly what he needs, unfortunately we can't give it to him, so we will be happy to hear any offers for him. We know he will do well and be of benefit to many clubs around us, he's a wonderful person and we wish him all the luck in the world!"

Turning to leave, Gigli was asked if there were any more targets. "Of course there is... we're aiming for me to get to my next meeting on time!" Smiling as he left, the LSA Chairman sped off. His answer gives no really indication as to whether the Torineri boss Marcello Lippi has set out further targets, though if history is anything to go by...

Capello confirm Freedie deal

Seattlewangsa have confirmed the signing of Freddie Ljungberg from AFC Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has completed his move to Seattlewangsa after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Seattlewangsa have signed Ljungberg in a trade of Lucarelli with 7millions.

Ljungberg becomes Seattlewangsa's second new signing of the summer and he will help bolster Fabio Capello's midfield options.

Ljungberg is relishing the challenge of playing for Seattlewangsa and he revealed the ambition of chairman Wan Kerr played a big part in his decision to move to Seattlewangsa.

"I'm coming here because I want to build a great team," said Ljungberg. "And why I want to join is because of Mr. Wan. He wants to bring them forward to be top of the country.

http://www.fuckfussball.net/pictures/ljungberg%20swe.jpg
Freddie smile during his interview.

Hammers boss Fabio Capello was delighted to land Ljungberg and believes he will prove a valuable addition to his squad.

"We spoke to Freddie over the last week and we tried to sell him the club and what we're about," Capello said.

"He's seen players come in and push us forward.

"He brings a few things, Champions League experience, captain of Sweden, he's versatile.

"There's a hunger there. He wants to come and push Seattlewangsa on and be partly responsible for that.

"He's joining another terrific club and that's the way he's got to see it.

"He understands the passion of the club and the passion of the fans and I'm sure he'll be a big hit here."

Emerson is unveiled in front of the press and enthusiastic chairman, Ramon Calderon

Dial Square were one of the many clubs to get going quickly in the mid-season transfer window, having taken part in several transactions in the first two days. The most high profile transfer so far involved Emerson Ferreira da Rosa + 2m arriving from Prohawks FC in exchange for Luis Fabiano. Meanwhile Dial Square were also able to get two strikers in. The prolific Mateja Kezman came in from Real Lerida, in exchange for out-of-favour Gilberto da Silva Melo + 3m. The other striker was Lisandro Lopez of Porto who came in as a trade for unhappy Francesco Tavano + 1m. Dial Square rounded off

their spending by signing central-defender Aleksei Berezutskiy, recently released by Destined Toulouse FC, in exchange for Cristiano Zanetti, who's poor performance had seen him become 3rd choice defensive midfielder.

Dial Square Rumour Corner

According to the News of the World, Brazilian keeper Helton could be leaving the club, unhappy with his small amount of appearances so far this season. Defensive midfielder, Mineiro could, also, be on the way out, according to the same publication, as he is unhappy with being demoted to third choice Defensive Midfielder following the arrival of fellow Brazilian, Emerson. The Sun predicts that Aimo Diana could be leaving after rumous of a rift between him and the manager. Lisandro Lopez is said to be considering his future just days after joining, after the arrival of Mateja Kezman made him fourth choice striker, according to the Daily Telegraph. The Independent is saying that Dial Square could struggle to keep Willy Sagnol and Vincenzo Iaquinta after approaches from unnamed high profile clubs. However Carlo Ancelotti is adamant that they are not for sale.

Dial Square 2-1 Valjuan C de F

After their league win away to the same club, Dial Square were in good spirits and it looked as if they would stroll awy with an easy victory following a first five minute in which Luis Fabiano missed two sitters. Dial Square started commiting a lot of men forward and because of this they were caught out by Valjuan C de F after a corner. Marchena had headered away the lofted corner from Max Tonetto, to the feet of Shunsuke Nakamura, whose stunning long ball was run onto by the swift-footed Damarcus Beasley who slotted it over the diving Marco Amelia from just inside the box. However Dial Square were able to get back into the game and after a fantastic passing move between Luis Fabiano and Tim Cahill, the former was brought down in the box for a penalty. After missing two good chances earlier in the game, Luis Fabiano took his chance from the spot, slotting home a penalty to equalise. From then on Dial Square put on a show of relentless pressure on the overwhelmed Valjuan. However it took until the 65th minute for them to equalise when Tonetto's outswinging corner was met with a stunning overhead kick by centre-back Mario Yepes. He later remarked that it was the greatest goal of his career.

Real Lerida 0-2 Dial Square

Dial Square's brilliant league run continued when they came up against a determined Real Lerida. Dial Square were quick off the mark though when Aimo Diana's tantalising cross was flicked on by Vincenzo Iaquinta for Raul Tamudo to volley home after just five minutes. With both Dial Square wingers, Diana and Max Tonetto in brilliant form it looked as if Lerida were in for a tough day. However the dogged keeping of Bogdan Shust meant Dial Square were kept at bay until the 78th minute when Diana's skilful lob from outside the box Shust off his line and looped into the back of the net to round of a brilliant performance by Diana and Dial Square.

http://www.1800-sports.com/images/tim-cahill.jpg

LSA Originale 0-1 Dial Square

In a tense and controversial game Dial Square came away with an important result. After being pelted with shots from just about everywhere for 80 minutes, Dial Square amazingly were still on level terms. It could be argued that perhaps they didn't deserve to be after Sergio Aguero's claims for a penalty were incorrectly waved away by the referee just after half-time. In one of Dial Square's few forays into the opposition half, Marcos Assuncao went down rather a bit too easily and won himself a free-kick. With half of the LSA team arguing with the referee, Assuncao got up and quickly took the free-kick onto which Tim Cahill ran on and rounded Gianluigi Buffon before slotting home. While the rest of the LSA team decided they would argue with the referee as well, Cahill and his team-mates descended into the celebrating away-section. Despite having ten shots at their goal in the last ten minutes, Dial Square held out for an historic win. Afterwards Carlo Ancelotti said, "Sometimes decisions go your way, sometimes they don't. That's football."

Dial Square 0-2 LSA Originale

After their midweek heroics, Dial Square weren't able to stop LSA at home. Despite a dodgy first-half performance, the scores were still level until Alberto Aquilani's wonderful cross found the unmarked Massimo Ambrosini who's spectacular volley found the net from just outside the box. Later on in the game, Aquilani was at it again, tricking his way past Marcos Assuncao and Aimo Diana before placing a perfect ball between Valerien Ismael and Andrea Brazagli for Tommaso Rocchi to go past Marco Amelia and slot home to confirm a brilliant victory for LSA Originale and a disappointing loss for Dial Square.

Football Career

Arsenal

Sidwell was part of the Arsenal youth team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2000 and 2001. He had successful loan spells with Brentford and Brighton, but couldn't break into the Arsenal first team.

Reading

Sidwell moved to Reading for an undisclosed fee on a four-and-a-half year deal in January 2003. In 2004, Four Four Two Magazine voted him the best player outside the Premier League.

A vital part of Reading's Championship-winning 2005–06 squad, in April 2006 Sidwell was named in the Championship Team of the Year by the Professional Footballers' Association, keeping the place he had been given the previous year.

In the summer of 2006, Sidwell rejected a contract extension, and it was rumoured that he might be sold to Everton, Charlton Athletic or Manchester City, as his contract was due to run out at the end of the 2006–07 season. Reading decided to keep Sidwell for their inaugural season in the Premier League, and risk losing him without a transfer fee when his contract ran out.

Over the course of the 2006–07 season, he was linked with a number of high profile clubs. After the last game of the 2006–07 season, Reading manager Steve Coppell confirmed that Sidwell had left the club and knew who he had signed for, but refused to say.

Chelsea

Sidwell joined Chelsea on 1 July 2007 following the expiry of his contract with Reading, and was given squad number 9 for the 2007–08 season. In his first interview after joining Chelsea, Sidwell stated that he had not come to Chelsea to 'make up the numbers', and that he believed training and playing alongside top players like Michael Essien and Frank Lampard would only help him improve.

He made his debut for Chelsea in a 2-1 win over Mexican side Club América in a friendly match in Stanford, California, during Chelsea's summer 2007 tour of the United States. His Premiership debut for Chelsea came on 12 August 2007 in a 3-2 victory against Birmingham City when he replaced Florent Malouda in 83rd minute, and he scored his first goal for the club on 26 September 2007, in a 4-0 win away to Hull City in the third round of the Football League Cup.

The breaking news of this evening is the abrupt resignation of Real Verdadera's manager, Kenny Dalglish.

At 6 o' clock this evening the scot announced in a press conference that he was to step down as Real Verdadera's head coach claiming that he had took the Spaniards as far as he could. Aragones Relishing Title Scrap!

Luis Aragones has tonight been appointed the new manager of Real Verdadera, following the un-predicted resignation of scotsman Kenny Dalglish.

For the past 24 hours many phone calls have been made by the Spanish club who were in search of a new head coach after the surprising news last night. According to reports, Aragones was keen on the job and Verdadera were swift to tie the Spaniard down. Ecstatic with their new manager, a club representative stated that the board were "delighted" to have found such an experienced manager in such a short space of time.

Aragones is set to be paraded around El Kop with new signings Rafael Van Der Vaart and Peter Crouch within the next few days.

Neapolitan hardman, Anotnio Nocerino signs for LSA

LSA Originale? are keeping with tradition, refusing to let the opportunities afforded them in the transfer window pass them by. Since signings the five players previously reported, Marcello Lippi has hardly reeled himself in signing German international Per Mertesacker from FC Cali. Budding Italian international Antonio Nocerino has also been brought in on a free transfer likely replacing the aging Massimo Ambrosini.

Per Mertesacker's arrival has seen two -now former- LSA defenders depart Turin, with Marek Cech heading in the opposite direction and Richard Dunne making a big money move to Division 3 strugglers Planet Express. Through some deft dealings, LSA Originale? have succeeded in raising a fair amount of capital while simultaneously improving the squad. The club's transfer budget is now thought to be around the £20m mark, a healthy state for any club.

This has been funded by the aforementioned sale of Dunne, yet Zdenek Grygera also felt it time to leave the club with Midnight Riders paying £5m for his services. Corluka's return should provide ample cover for the loss of Grygera, however Marek Cech's departure has left a void on the left side of defence unless Pasqual is expected to play the entirey of the season!

Rumours suggest that Lippi has a number of potential replacements shortlisted, however some reports indicate a number of offers have been met with rejections. It is thought that the impressive young Cristian Molinaro is in pole position with scouts tracking his progress, however at the opposite end of the spectrum Italy legend Paolo Maldini has been linked with the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson: "I followed the road to park, as usual, to think of the current negotiations. I heard the winds, of change. Karim was there, he came and we talked. He had a sudden change of heart. He understood what he meant to the club, the fans and I. As he told me of his decision to remain at the club, he loved and where he IS loved, it was the magic of this moment."

Sir Alex said, that a few of the new signings are unhappy at the club, they feel to much attention is being given to others and are now looking to move. The gaffer did his best to convince them to stay and try to make them understand that at the club, things have to be done his way, but in vain. As he once said, "It is my way or the highway."

The latter also made us part of what he has in mind concerning his new tactics. He said that he might revert to the old ways.

What he means by this, we do not know but from what we have understood, there will be lots of changes during this transfer window.

The Great Acquisition - Rafa the new big gun at Verdadera!

It has already been a busy window for Real Verdadera, not only with players moving in and out. Only last week, Kenny Dalglish sensationally quit the Spaniards, shortly after, Spanish manager, Luis Aragones penned a deal with Real Verdadera. With a strong Spanish core to the squad, it seems, Aragones is the perfect candidate to take the reigns of Las Aguilas.

As always, Verdadera have been one of the most active teams and changing managers is not an excuse to stop the tradition. Five players have departed the club, including: Mark Viduka; Owen Hargreaves; Vagner Love; John Arne Riise; David Beckham and a surprise quick route out of Real Verdadera for Klaas Jan Huntelaar, whom made way for two of Aguilas' big name signings.

Of course, the main talking point is the recruitment of one of the world's finest midfielders, Rafael Van Der Vaart. The dutchman has been a key player in a couple of FL sides already, and he believes "Real Verdadera will be his greatest challenge." Van Der Vaart joined Real along with Liverpool's former big man, Peter Crouch. It is believed that Huntelaar + £10m funded the double deal.

Pepe Reina was also brought in from Midnight Riders, a long term target for the club. Another spaniard, Marcos Senna was signed along with Israeli trickster, Yossi Benayoun. John Arne Riise, who has been off form this season, made way for the two. Real have also added German young keeper, Rene Adler to the side and also, Martin Caceres, a Uruguayan left back who has been monitored by European giants such as Juventus and Real Madrid.

The final word from El Kop is that Aragones is very pleased with his inherited squad, but believes if an opportunity arises, be sure he will take it..

Foca Juniors available players:

-Ryan Donk - Loan.
... Dutch defender who currently plays for AZ Alkmaar. His playing style is often compared to Jaap Stam's style and it is said Donk can possibly become better than Stam ever was.

-Sebstien Pocognoli - Loan.
...Belgian left back-cum-winger who currently plays for AZ Alkmaar. Pocognoli began his career with Standard Liège, but left at the age of fifteen to join KRC Genk. In April 2004, he made his first-team debut aged just sixteen, and broke into the first-team in 2006 due to the injuries faced in Genk that season. He is known for his attacks from the wing, in the style of a left wing back, and also has a powerful shot.

-Giles Barnes - Loan.
... English footballer. He signed for Derby County in August 2005 as a trainee and became a regular first-team choice in midfield. He is still being pursued by West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley for a possible January transfer with a fee of £5 million reportedly agreed for the 19 year old, reports also suggest he will sign for the club on January 1st 2008.

-Joey Barton - Cash or good CB.
... English footballer. He plays for English England League club Newcastle United, as a midfielder. Barton was raised in a rough area and as a child saw football as a form of escapism. He began his football career in 2002 with Manchester City after working his way through their youth system. His appearances in the senior side gradually increased in regularity over a period of five years - he made more than 150 appearances for the club in total. Impressive form at club level earned him his first cap for the England national team in February 2007, despite his criticism of some of the team's players.

Please be quick with your responses. :)

Crouch Promises Goals

http://www.football.co.uk/shared/images/news/400x400_1188331202_spt_ai_live rpoolvtoulouse_08.jpg
Crouch Celebrates Liverpool Goal!

Peter Crouch believes he has what it takes to be Real Verdadera's prolific scorer, after the departure of Fernando Torres, who has since returned to Racing Club Avenido after his successful loan spell with Real Verdadera.

Crouch joined Las Aguilas last month after being included in a deal which also brought Rafael Van Der Vaart to Verdadera. "I believe I will score goals, everywhere I have went I have scored goals, but I am always having to prove myself. Obviously filling the boots of a striker like Fernando is always difficult, but I see it as a challenge and I feel that I can be the regular goal scorer here."

Luis Aragones also has every confidence in his new 6"7 target man, "Peter is a good player and is very good with his feet. He knows where the goal is, and people doubting him is silly. He has proved he is good enough for the top level and I am ecstatic that he is on our side and not the oppositions. He is a handful and I know that defenders hate playing against him."

Crouch will want to repay his new manager's faith by grabbing as many goals as possible when the season resumes after the Christmas break.

Football club Planet Express unveil McLeish as boss

http://www.upyarkilt.com/Scotland_Manager_Alex_Mcleish_ 2007.jpg
Alex McLeish
Alex McLeish is Planet Express' 2 manager in 1 year
Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish admitted the lure of the Fantasy league was too strong to turn down after he was named Planet Express' new boss.

The 48-year-old succeeds sam allardyce at St Andrew's on a three-and-a-half year contract, and said: "I absolutely loved my time as coach of the national team.

"But it rekindled my passion of being able to work with players every day.

"I have always harboured a desire to manage in the fantasy league and I am really excited about the challenge."

Andy Watson and Roy Aitken, McLeish's assistant coaches with Scotland, are also joining him at Planet Express.

And the former Rangers and Birmingham ciry boss insists he has the full backing of the club's board, despite uncertainty surrounding a proposed takeover by Carson Yeung.

McLeish said: "The terms of my contract are private, but I have been satisfied in my chats with the people here that we can move forward.
We'll see if we can make some introductions in the current transfer window"

Planet Express' are 9th in the Fantasy league table.

But McLeish is confident he can turn their fortunes around, saying: "It is a manager's job to get the best out of his squad and that is why I'm here.

"I'm sure we can do that and, we'll also see if we can make some introductions in the current transfer window."

Acquafresca celebrates big time contract...

Italian striking starlet, Robert Acquafresca has been confirmed as the latest signing for Turinese club LSA Originale? The striker has put in some truly impressive performances for Italy at U21 level, and is widely considered a promising centre-forward to move up to the next level. There was some reported interest from other clubs, but the first firm offer came from LSA, which was quickly accepted by the youngster who is thought to want to stay in Italy.

Marcello Lippi commented, albeit briefly; "I'm truly glad we managed to secure Robert, he's a fantastic talent and from speaking with him I truly believe he has what it takes to make it at the highest level. He's an honest young lad who truly wants to learn, couple that with his pace, power, goal scoring ability and the staff and experienced players we have here... you have a recipe for success. Thank you."

Olof Mellberg signs 2 year contract

Swedish centre back, Olof Mellberg, has secured a surprise transfer to second flight side, Real Verdadera. It is likely that Mellberg has been brought in to provide cover for the shortage of centre backs at El Kop. There is no doubt that Mellberg is as solid as they come and Verdadera head coach, Luis Aragones, knew that there was no better man for the job.

"Olof is a very solid defender, he is very reliable and has a lot of experience. We believe these capabilities along with his good attitude and work hard ethic, he is a terrific signing."

Aragones also hinted at a possible further two additions to his squad, with rumours stating Juninho was unhappy with the signing of Rafael Van Der Vaart, could the Brazilian make way to fund new faces? .

Seattlewangsa land Laursen from Villa

http://www.forzamilan.com/pics/laursen.jpg
During his Milan time

Seattlewangsa FC have begun their plans for the 2nd half of the season by agreeing a deal to sign Danish international defender Martin Laursen from Aston VIlla.

Seattlewangsa have agreed a 500k swap deal including Pierre Wome with Villa for the giant central defender with Laursen set to pen a 2-year deal subject to a medical.

Laursen has been looking for a move away from Villa for some time after falling well down the pecking order at the English club.

A number of clubs had expressed an interest in the Dane, but Seattlewangsa have won the chase for his signature.

Seattlewangsa boss Fabio Capello has been keen on strengthening his defence after the retirement of Jaap Stam from professional football.

"Good one" describing his transfer to Maracana

Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has joined Seattlewangsa FC for 500k including Roberto Abbondanzieri.

Abbiati spent last season on loan at Torino, and previously enjoyed a spell at Juventus after losing his number one status at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The 29-year-old featured regularly for Torino and had outlined his hope to join the club on a permanent deal.

However, he will now spend the rest of his career in Maracana after Milan agreed to sell him to Seattlewangsa.

Argentinian Leo Franco is currently Seattlewangsa's number one goalkeeper which means Abbiati needs to compete with Franco.

Abbondanzieri was included in the swap because he's deemed as surplus requirements.

Ze Roberto joins Club

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41819000/jpg/_41819412_bra11.jpg
Ze Roberto steps into the pivot for MRFC

Foxboro, Ma - Midnight Riders FC boss Steve Nicol announced the acquisition of Brazilian veteran midfielder Ze Roberto. The deal saw Abou Diaby and Fabio Cannavaro go to DP United. MRFC also picked up Belgian stalwart Daniel Van Buyten in the swap.

"We think Ze Roberto is the perfect addition to our midfield," Nicol said. "He is one of the best at receiving the ball from the defence and turning it into offense."

----------------

Reports close to the organization have also hinted to a few of the players on the trading block.

Target forward Nikola Zigic appears to be on the way out of the club before playing a match after the acquisition of several other attacking players. The asking price is reportedly €6 million.

Legendary midfielder Claude Makelele's future with the club is also supposedly on the rocks. With Anderson, Ze Roberto, Yaya Toure and Owen Hargreaves all ahead of him on the pecking order it appears Claude Makelele would need to go elsewhere to satisfy his desire to play first team football. A source close to the situation says that at the moment Nicol will not take less than €10 million for the destroyer but he is open to dealing for a left back.

Young starlet Toni Kroos who the Riders have been looking to loan out for some time will supposedly remain at the club if a deal can not be made. The source said that either Piotr Trochowski or Kevin Kuranyi could be released instead. Kroos is still being offered for a half season loan.

Park Ji-Sung, the Korean superstar, has long been rumored out of favor at MRFC. The emergence of Nani as a reputable force has made him expendable. Park, like Makelele, will not be sold for less than €10 million. Nicol, however, would apparently like to deal Park in a package with Makelele for a left back.

The former Real Mallorca & Bordeaux ace has been linked with a move to Seattlewangsa FC all summer and they have finally clinched his signature.

Riera is the sixth new signing of the season at Seattlewangsa FC after the arrivals of Ljungberg, Benjani, Garrido, Laursen and Abbiati.
