Anybody seen the new metal gear coming out it looks f***kin brilliant.
Yep, I've seen a vid of it on PSM2 magazine's DVD. It looks wicked!!!

It did get boring but I've got MGS2:Substance with VR missions, new snake missions and 'Snakeboarding' to keep me occupied!
MGS3SE looks promising. Apparantly you have to hunt your own food and eat it. Theirs also no rader this time either. It will be much more harder this time around..
Yes, I've read about it in PSM2 and it sounds like a challenging game!

mgs2 was a class game i completed it many times and got loads of them dog tags ive seen mg3 and that looks like a whole new game which makes it even more exciting..... plus its all outside and hunting is betta cant wait.......

It just got boring... all those cutscenes and bad bad dialogue!
the dialogue was superb although can be come repetitive once youve played it 9 times through. I thought it was a great game.

From an actor's point of view I thought the dialogue sucked.
Well, I enjoyed the first two playthroughs of the game. The reason being I completed MGS2 for the first time whilst borrowing it off my friend. The second time I played through it was on MGS2:Substance which I purchased about a year after playing MGS2 and had forgotten about most things that happened in the game. But now, it is rather boring and I don't appreciate it as much as before.
Doesn't matter though cos Substance includes VR missions, new Snake tales, and Snakeboarding! :D
Don't know if anyone's interested but here's some news I heard today regarding MGS...
Hideo Kojima will be stepping down from directorial duties after the release of MGS3:Snake Eater. This doesn't mean the end of the MGS series but it will be the last game he's in charge of.

I think if you are big boss instead of snake in 3 will put a real damper on the game, i mean if you have to play as the future enemy of one of the coolest guys in the world really disapoints me but im going to buy it nuntheless

Has anyone bought the official PS2 mag? if yes then you would have probably viewed the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater demo. Amazing!!! Theirs no radars and theirs the ability to climb trees and gut the opponents throat. Please feel free to submit opinions fellas.
I haven't got the official mag but I've seen the video on PSM2's and PSW's magazines.
You're right, it looks great. Promises to be a great game. I love the bit on the video when Snake is hanging from a tree, shoots one person, then jumps down onto the alerted guard. Nice! :D It seems to me that it's gonna be a more challenging game than MGS2 because it's much more stealthy.

metal gear solid 1 on psx was a piece of piss. completed it in no time. good game tho, some aspects are really good but some parts of the game are just really tired and dry
It took me 15 hours to complete MGS2 first time around! Without the use of a guide or faq. MGS2 was just awesome. MGS3 looks like another 10/10 game.

The snake story took my brother about 50 minutes and it took me 14 hours in the plant!

i played and finished both metal gear solid 1 and 2 about 3 times each, and loved it every single time...........the cut scenes and dialogues could get a lil boring at times.......but who cares.......and MGS3? oh my god it looks f......k great!!!!! im definately buying it....do any of u know when its comin out??

MGS 3 looks truly amazing. as long as thje stories as good as 2 (better than most movies) i shall be rather chuffed shall we say.
at first i was worried about the "set in the jungle 30 years ago concept" (has snake aged REALLY well or will we play as his dad or something?) but after seeing watchable Demo. fears no more.
played 2 the other day and did snake bit in under 20 mins, i was disappointed with lack of snake playability.

The Snake story was very short.
The Raiden story was much longer and more enjoyable. Took a fair few hours for me to complete first time round.
Looking forward to MGS3. :) There's also a MGS game planned for release on the Gamecube. Talking of the Gamecube, I'll be getting one at christmas. Two MGS's in store for me then. :)

the first mgs ruled, the story was perfect, characters excellent and the game was revolutionary. mgs2 the story was too over the top and government conspiracy running the country bullshit but was still an excellent title in terms of gameplay.

Well don't bother gettin mgs 3 cause you don't play as solid snake either, considering its set during the cold war and ss wasn't even born yet (Big Boss). If you want games that stay the same release after release play fifa, move on, Hideo Kojima has.

Sorry(S)Aint it just does my head in the way people moan about the best title to come out on the ps2. The problem was that Hideo Kojima was trying too please everyone, he didn't want to put to much emphasise on mgs1 for people who hadn't played it. Raiden was a bit of a mook but he was the newbie finding out about solid snake like all the newbies playing the game. With the new mgs Snake eater he hasn't done this, Kojima's gone back in time to the beginnings of the "snake", and Sheringham316 you play as Big Boss in the new game it's set during the 60's during the cold war I think! And if you don't know why Big Boss and Solid snake look similar play mgs 1.

I concur with eric. you people need to do some more research. How could it be Solid Snake?! If you watch the trailer closely you get all the hints that MGS3 is in Zanzibar Land, Big Boss's fortress in the original Metal Gear games (think they were on the commodore). Also, he has a missing eye in some of the cut-scenes, so does Big Boss in his pic in the MGS manual.

It's definately big boss, you know he wants to peace the whole thing together. Thet moan before is pointless anyway because as Snakes a clone of big boss (spoiler if you ain't played the first one) then he's gonna play exactly the same anyway, except for his injuries* and what he eats to stay alive.
* have you heard that if you fall off a cliff or out of a tree you can break your leg and you just carry on playing till he dies of exhaustion or loss of blood.
As for a release date I've just heard it will be persponed till next christmas officially (unofficially they're gonna make it a first release on the playstation 3 early 2005.)

Have you seen the new footage where he's walking through the tunnels, he's got both eye's there. So people reckon its set over a number of years (like the cold war) and you get to find out how he lost his eye and why he turned to the "darkside"?( you know what I mean.)

I read it on that ps2 ign site straight from Kojimas mouth. The thing is theres no set path to get to where you are going so you have to climb cliffs jump off waterfalls and jungling stuff, so if you take it too far you injure yourself. I don't know if you can make splints but hideo's been going on about using the environment to build traps so he'll probably add that. Most realistic game you're ever gonna play......... and I reckon its gonna be on ps3 as companies are getting the hardware from Sony now.
I think that it must be big boss, and the reason that it looks so much like snake - as ericcantona said - is because snake is a clone of big boss. The fact that the game is set in the past doesnt bother me in the slightest as it looks bloody awesome. Maybe it will be in zanzibar land but as long as it has a good story - and im sure it will with kojima at the helm for the final time, so im sure he will make it a memorable fairwell - im gonna definately get this game.
However i really doubt that it will be released on the ps3 however as the game is already being developed - quite obviously as the videos/screenshots show - and it must have been in development for a while now, and the ps3 chip hasnt even been confirmed as to which one will be used so how mgs3 could be a ps3 game is beyond me.

I heard, Kojima said that mgs3 could be released now except for the use of advanced technologies ie. hard drive, online and motion sensor with the eye toy. I reckon he's just waiting too see how the development of the ps3 goes to decide which platform to use. There have been plenty of games that were developed for the ps1 (with released previews)but where converted to ps2 after people found out about the technological advancements. And I'm sure Hideo along with the guys that do gt will be getting prototypes of the ps3 from Sony now.
if its ready now why wait untill 2005 in japan to release the game?
i doubt that it will be a ps3 game, if kojima says its ready then he wont wait another 2 years to release it. im sure he will be working on a new title by then.

I cant wait for that since i never did play the 1st one properly. From what i have seen in the remake it kinda looks the same. Solid Snake's face dosen't have any detail in. That doesn't make any sence since the ps1 version couldnt do anything about it casue it was such a weak console but gamecube. Come on they can do better then that!!

When you say that he's only got one eye, thats not quite true. If you get the new ingame footage of him, he has both eye's. But it is definately big boss, I just think the games gonna be bigger than anyone thinks and you control Big Boss on the mission that changed his perception, you lose your eye and find out the signifigance, you find out the truth behind Metal Gear , and what to believe of the previous installments, and everyone who plays this game will be enlightened by Kojima's wisdom, and he'll probably tell us the meaning of our existance at the end, and we will bow down to him, and shall not be afraid for he is the light.........

I did actually get a bit concerned when I looked at them, they reminded me of those fake shots of the Xbox graphics (just stills using a PC). But Hideo did say that he didn't use the graphical potential for MGS2 so I don't know??

That thing in the top right of the pics shows what camouflage youre wearing, whether you have face paint and the number is the percentage of your visibility, which changes depending on what stance youre in how much noise you make and how paranoid the enemy soldier is.

Whens the PS3 out, can't be long after that, is start of 2005 the last big push cause isn't GT4 out then as well.
When I was at GAME I was told that PS3 will be released in late 2005 (possibly even early 2006) It won't make it to the UK for another 6-8 months after that. There is a big games show in May called E3 - This is usually where big games and hardware is revealed, I'd expect an announcement concerning PS3 then (if the release timescale is correct)

It's quality, I thought it was a bit stupid how you could change so quickly and he'd vanish, but when you think about it its well cool. When he's in the black camouflage and hes crawling past the enemy, I reckon its gonna take this genre to another level, I reckon Splinter cell 2 is pony compared to this.

I know mate, I'd thought he'd just blow the crocs head off, but Hideo puts an element of fun into the game. Have you seen it when te bee hive falls onto the guards, genius. I think I may actually take pes 4 out of my console for a couple of weeks when this comes out.

As they say in McDonalds "you got it", if you watch the vids, you'll see the stealthy action to the max.
But i think Splinter Cell is far better then it because of its realism and stealth!!!
Don't get carried away mate, its a bit better but that should be expected on a game developed a year or so after mgs, and I'm sure mgs:sa will surpass Splinter cell, also Tom Clancy story-lines are crap I much prefer Hideo Kojima.

oh shit i just finished snake eater and words can't describe the emotions i'm feeling right now. MGS3 is the best game in the history of man kind!!! whoaaa i dunno where to start. i finished normal mode with crocodile ranking(it's pathetic) in 11 1/2 hours(laugh at me) with 1 retry. take all the best movies ever made, or books ever written (LOTR, star wars, blah blah blah) and put them together, still the plot of metal gear series beats all of them hands down. i'd give this game 10/10. and what's even better is that its more realistic than any other rpgs!!! and it's difficult to play too!!
and the ending is totally unexpected and original. there was even a twist!(sort of) one word: WOW!
the ending was really touching. i felt like crying after watching it. conclusion: hideo kojima is a god. if you haven't got MGS3, you should be jailed.

what difficulty did you select? the only difficult part bout the shagohod stage is fighting volgin i think. i think volgin is the hardest boss. even harder than boss herself.

Just finished MGS3 a few days ago and the game is stunning,both graphically and story-wise.It's a bit more difficult than MGS2 but imo the best in the series.I just luv the theme song btw..snake eater...
yea the theme song and ending songs are drooling good. you know where can i download them?
btw can someone start a thread for people who already completed MGS3? somewhere where we can discuss and stuff. somewhere we can share how we play the game and how we beat the bosses and stuff. i'm totally crazy bout MGS. the MGS forum i support is closed :(

I got the original snake eater song from kazaa,took a while..
A remix version i got from metalgearonline.org under the downloads section..
And shaft,when you fight volgin..i suggest a stun grenade.
I used this cheap method to beat him,but of course you need an ample amount to do this..like 15.
As for the shagohod fight i suggest using the sneaking suit camo,that way you don't have to worry about your life bar..

yeah youre right this game is indeed brilliant! din noe bout this thread at first. but just bought the game 2-3 wks ago ,just started playin seriously around 2 day s ago. now at the base part u know the east wing of the weapons lab of ... base...like callin it gronkjaer base.lol.yup pretty much killed or interrogated those ppl there but how do u make the door open?!!!? i noe the frequency's 186.** or wat but gosh, i went everywhere but cant progress any further! can u help me? do u needa stand right in front facing the door or wat? thnx. cant wait to get past and fight volgin or shagohod! yeah but up till now my favourite boss battle is gainst the fury.that place i sjust like a mini maze.i like to just play the role of the end u know campin somewhere wait for fury to appear then svd him i mean the satisfaction's great! 2nd is gainst the end cuz he seemed invincible to me at first! that was the previous part i was stuck at. but that battle was fun, cum to tink of it eh? once i was jus snipin, binocularing the surroundings ahead then he just appeared behind me.wow that was probably the best part of the game for me. then i got fed up, ran around the area searchin for him.then he shot at me,i found out his whereabouts at the 'cliff'like ridge near the armoury and i sneaked up to him.jus like the way he did. serves him right.then bang,wat a waste din get his camo ,gun in time!damn!btw the game's almost perfect except there could be more diff. weapons meaning less of same type like mk22...more cool weapons wud do.plus if the environment was more interactable(i noe now it is already) i bet it would be fantastic! jus luv the game luv stalkin enemies. I'm exactly in this place.. I know I've said that I already passed it but, (to know how stupid I am) I deleted the save file by mistake. So, I had to start all over again. I'm stucked at the same place where rcarlosshooto stucked at. the last time a friend of mine passed this place and copied the save file to me.. this TIME I'm all alone and I need some help.. would you help us (me and rcarlosshooto) please?

i didn't have to enter those locked doors to find raikov. i just found him in the library. lol.

since i played against the fear and there is a stupid arrow stuck on my chest, and when i go to cure i don't find myself in need for surgery :confused: i just walk arround carrying that arrow in my chest which doesn't affect my life btw, anyone had the same prob? i have just defeated the fury and went into the base

it's in the 60s, you're playing in the jungle, camouflage is the key to finishing the game and it's a long game that you'll enjoy playing

if you mean the first time you meet sokolov, you'll have to camouflage past the security *spoiler* then use the underground tunnel networktill you find yourself right infront of his door, you'll have to kill some guards on your way.

I'm at the same stage as you, damn The End is no doubt the hardest part of the game so far. Why do all the bosses blow up when they die? :eek:

Fair does metal gear solid never fails to deliver. it is 10/10 undoubtedly. Really tense and lots of good new things introduced to the game. survival is a big part of it and once again the in game movies are incredible.
anyone who doesnt have this game seriously needs to at least try it because it is fab, you wont find a more polished but addictively playable game out.

I ended up putting it on easy cause I hought it was too hard, but now I'm used to it I might start again on a higher setting. I'm not even going to bother with Splinter Cell I just can't believe it's anyway near as good as this. I'm past the jungle and it just gets better, the bit with the ladder is funny, if you get me.
Also has anyone got the healing radio channel yet, cool.

It's not better than the GTA's or PES or TimeSplitters but probably the best stealth game and has a lot of good gadgets.
it took me ages to beat the end as i didnt relise you could leave the first area:(:D i remember at one point he snuck up on me! lol i couldnt belive it when i saw his rifle pointing at me im just on the mountain bit now i love the game all though the cameras tricky to get used to at first as i aint played metal gear since number 2
This was my first time i played metal gear since the first time it came out im still trying to find my way on this game, how long do you have to stay in the jungle for because its getting irritating.
you spend about three quaters of the game in the jungle,the rest is in either the mountains or indoor labs and stuff
Ah damn the jungle was starting to annoy me as the guards are hard to spot and the camera angles are really poor aswell i cant get used to it. Part from that class game.
yeah on mgs2 you could distract guards with porn mags and stuff and they could catch illnesses 2 aint seen that so far in mgs3:(

You can get porno mags in this when you get to the base, but I think the guards would get suspicious at jazz mags in the jungle. Also you can feed the guards off-meat and if you capture snakes or spiders live you can chuck them at the guards and if you're lucky the guy will get bitten.

Snake Eater is the best game that I've played on the PS2 and before that it was Sons of Liberty. I don't know what you made of MGS2 but if you enjoyed it as much as I did then you won't be disappointed.

metal gear solid looks like a quality game. The idea of using stealth in the jungle to outwit your enemies is fantastic. Climbing trees, catching your own food such as fish and other new features are going to make this the best metal gear solid yet!!!

I think that The Cure option is a great addition to the game, even better than catching your own food
Guy's i finnally got solokov out of that place......during the cutscene i thought that i atually take solokov out of the place in game........i was like man this is going to be hard with all this soldirs around.......now i am in the level where that woman, The Boss beats you up blow that shit up...........the game is sweet man.

I personally think you can't compare GTA to MGS3, you can't compare TimeSplitters to MGS3 and you defintly can't compare PES4 to MGS3.....one is a footbal game the other is a action adventure game :confused:

I clocked the game this afternoon. I was playing it on the normal level and it took me 32 hours (5 days!) to complete it. The Cobras and the Boss were pretty tough to beat, I gotta say. It took me over 2 hours to beat the End (that stage is all about endurance) and then I couldn't beat the Boss, but I persisted and after the umpteenth attempt (after trying several different techniques) I finished her off. What a ride!
I clocked the game this afternoon. I was playing it on the normal level and it took me 32 hours (5 days!) to complete it. The Cobras and the Boss were pretty tough to beat, I gotta say. It took me over 2 hours to beat the End (that stage is all about endurance) and then I couldn't beat the Boss, but I persisted and after the umpteenth attempt (after trying several different techniques) I finished her off. Thats nice.......i don't want to complete the game man.....i just want to stay on a level as long as i can and find little things that i can do.....if you know what i mean........but the game is heavy man.

so i see up till today people are still playing mgs 3. i think it was released in europe not long ago. anyway it's the best PS 2 game ever. i completed the game twice, once on easy and once on hard. took me bout 4 days for easy and 2 days for hard. the storey line is so deep and touching. those who haven't got it should get it now! :o
i have only just started playing and i am a bit rusty with the controls. can someone help me out. i just dont know ghow to do any cqc moves. how do you grab someone from behind. point a gun at them and they dont shoot back. stuff like that. please help me out causre the game is boring if you dont know how to do that stuff.
completed metal gear 3 about a week ago and i have to say, that is the single best game i've ever played!!!! i wasn't keen on metal gear 2 mainly because i really didnt like raiden, but this was just amazing!!!!! so many twists and turns man!! the story is soooo good its unreal and theres just so many memorable moments!!! the ending is just unbelievable! the fight with the boss is wonderful!!! theres just so much to say about this game! you really have to buy it. if you liked mgs1 on ths playstation you'll love this and if you were disapointed with mgs2 dont let that stop you playing snake eater! its just so good!

Ye i completed MGS 3 in about 29Hrs (1 n 1/2 weeks) best game i've ever played. I found the Boss very easy all you had to do was keep low use a sniper rifle and thermo goggles. I found the sorrow hard until i used the codec and Zero told you wat to do. All round great game , i did wonder how many times i was gonna have to kill the shagohad thing jus keeps on commin its a great game tho jus ashame it wasn't a lil bit longer
I have completed the game time ago now but the hardest boss was the legend the old guy sniper a real good battle that was.

^ at one point he snook up on me and when he was sayin his lil speech i managed to dodge the shoot and i was chasing him on foot for like 10 minutes using the thermo goggles followin his foot prints that part was commical cus he kept losing breath and had to stop lmao - also he fell asleep a couple of times i jus used the directional mic and heard him snorin
i never heard or seen the old guy fall a sleep but i hated when he used to sneak up behind you like you said, he was quite fast for an old guy.thermo goggles didnt really last long the batteries kept going, i hated when you cant see him and he is shooting at you.

Yeah i agree with you.......but you have to be quick when sniping him......when your looking through the scope you can see him when this bright thing is shining.

i thought the best boss battle was the one with the boss, (that sounds quite dumb!) it was a bit easy, i did it 1st time, but its just so beautiful! haha! i thought the battle with volgin was great! when u have to beat him before the c3 goes off! i finished him off with a second to go!!!! so dramatic! i was punching the air!!!!
lol yes i realise i'm starting 2 sound pretty sad! hahahaha!
