As the heading says not a very gd day for Man city or utd. Sadly man utd's undefeated run in the premeiership, which started on boxing day has ended. But as a manutd fan i have to give credit to southampton they were very tight at the back and really controlled the match for most of it. Howard did make some gd svaes but couldnt stop beattie scoring the winner.
As for man city they were looking gd but arsenal got 2 goals in the second half and now this means that they maintain their 100% record and are 3 points clear at the top.
Not a gd day for the manchester clubs, but arsenal are still on fire.
Also a bit of injury news for Man Utd: Scholes is out for at least 4 weeks, but this could increase to 6 weeks if he needs an op; Ferdinand has some kidney problems and is seeing someone about that soon; Kelberson suffered a dislocated shoulder in the lose to southampton. Its not been a very good week for UTD

Thanks for that. A good recap for the weekend's play. We should have more of this.
Incidentally, does anyone know the reason there are millions of Arsenal fans all over Essex? If they are having stadium problems, I'm sure they would be very welcome in Essex. :)
(No need to guess who spent Saturday in Essex)

I thought Man City played well today. Sure, in the end, they lost but I don't think there's any doubt in my mind that they give us a tough showing. We just had a little edge over them in the second half and that helped us in scoring the goals.
Unlucky for United. The match really could have gone either way. But, draw would be what both teams deserved. Congrats to the Saints for the win though. They played well at the back, weren't intimidated and, ultimately, their perseverance paid off.
On another note, why in the world did Ljunberg have to get booked for his goal celebration? In fact, why do referees book anyone for celebrating their goal with the crowd? Time-wasting, you say? Yeah, I'm sure the whole 10 seconds of celebrating will damper the opposing team's chances.
Now, don't get me wrong, if a player celebrates for a lengthier amount of time in the crowd, the booking is probably merited but this has reached a new level. Just ruins the spirit of the game, in my opinion.
Southampton deserved to win as Man Utd just sat back and absorbed the pressure until they thought they could get away with. They were punished by beattie. Man City were lucky not to have all three points as arsenals goals were defensive mix ups.

I think the reason freddie was booked was caus it was a sort of over the top celebration, caus the fa and ppl dont think there is ne need to leave the pitch to celebrate. It is a bit stupid but they have a point. Also Zygalski i no wot u mean, i live in essex and there are just swarms of them everywhere. Most of the ppl i no support arsenal. It was probs not a smart choice for me not to support them

And City's goal wasn't a defensive error? Please, that was the biggest blunder I can remember by an Arsenal player in recent history (Keown's back header included). If it wasn't for defensive errors from both sides, it probably would have ended a draw. Both teams sharing the points.

Yes, I'm aware of the rule. I just think it's a little pointless. Consistency is what counts, I suppose.

Man U didn't play a full strength team, did they?
Man Utd had a good team and a team that was capable of beating southampton heavily. It was an one way traffic game with man utd defending mostly.

Yeah, but did they play a full strength team?

Not really a full strength team we were missing ppl in vital areas and the cover we had in place were either unexperienced or just had a bad game. For example we were missing solksjaer and scholes in midfield and their replacements were kleberson and djemba, who havent got much experience in the premier league. Basically it was a side that u would expect to cope, but they just simply missed the big time players

I think they missed more than one creative influence and the big players failed to shine too.
arsenal got lucky i still think man city will win the premership :p with man utd coming a distant second :)

 I'll agree that Man Utd. will come second. :)
i think man utd problem is they went out and bought midfeiders and no central def to cover rio or oshay when there out they should have got nesta or a another world class def plus i still think they need to find a strike partner for van the man :p forlan will not get them 20-30 goals a season or olly plus i think selling beckham who in my opinion is v over rated was good for man u but they should have got dyer in to replace him....as for man city we will win the uefa cup and if fowlers fully fit and firing we will be up there with the big boys near the top....but i think distans shite he and seaman was at fault for both arsenals goals on sunday grrr

I often hear traffic reports on the radio of congestion on the M25 after Manchester Utd have played.
