Want to show off your best PES goals/moments in the Goal Gallery?

Here’s how:

If you have PES for PS2:

Best methods:

1) TV Card
2) DVD Recorder

Method 1: TV Card

You can record video clips of your PES replays using a TV Card.

What is a TV card?

A TV-Card allows you to watch television on your computer screen either in a window or full screen, effectively turning your PC into a Television set. In addition you can use the video inputs to capture video from a Camcorder or VCR. With modern software and a fast PC you can use your PC as a VCR.

You simply need to plug the RF (aerial) output from your console into your TV-Card then tune your TV-Card into the channel output by the digibox. If your console has SCART, composite or S-Video connectors you might want to use them instead of the RF connection for better picture quality. (The yellow SCART lead is what you will need - video output)

Compressing the file size
If you have a tv card, I recommend using Virtual Dub for both capturing and compressing the filesize of the clips you make – as the initial files are several megabytes in size.

For example, the standard 12 second clips that I record using my tvcard come to around 45MB. Using Virtual Dub enables me to reduce the filesize to around 1MB.

You will need one of the following two codecs to use when compressing the clip.

What you need to do is download Taksi or Fraps - video capture software.

Simply run PES4 and load up the replay in the game whilst running one of these programs and it will allow you to record clips of your goals yourself.

Where can I upload my goals?

Once you have made your video clips, you will need to upload them somewhere.

Places to upload:

Console Goals - http://www.consolegoals.com

This is the best option. If you upload your goal to this website, you then have the option to embed it directly into a thread. After uploading to Console Goals, use the [goal] tag to embed. Example:

[goal ]viewkey[/goal ] (remove spaces)

With viewkey being the bit at the very end of the URL it creates for your video.

YouSendIt - http://www.yousendit.com

This is a temporary place to upload files. Upon uploading a file, the link will remain active for 7 days before it expires, and therefore will no longer be available for download. So, not an permanent place to upload a file...but it is a fast and reliable site.

MegaUpload - http://www.megaupload.com/

This is a permament location, however the download/upload speeds tend to be very slow and sometimes you can't even download a file. Getting a message like 'Banwidth exceeded' or something like that. Well, I know I do anyway.

TurboUpload - http://www.turboupload.com

PutFile - http://www.putfile.com/

This site allows you to upload files up to the size of 10MB.

Simply click the Browse button and select the clip on your computer that you want to upload.

You will then be given a link to your video.

The reason I say that is because I know for a fact that I....and a lot of others can very rarely download from it...and get very frustrated by it. On the other hand, there are people that don't experience any problems with it, so...

This site allows you to upload files up to the size of 30MB.

Click the Browse button and select the clip on your computer that you want to upload.

When the file has been uploaded, you will be given a Download-Link. Right click the link, and select Copy Shortcut. Now just copy this link into your post for others to download and view. People that want to download the file, will need to click on the FREE button towards the bottom of the page, and wait for the download link to appear at the bottom.

I take it you are who I just spoke to on MSN, but for the sake of other people:

You cannot convert a X-Port (.xps) or Max Drive (.max) file into a video file - a lot of people seem to think you can, and buy Xports/maxdrives specifically for this.

You can make video clips of your PS2/Xbox goals using the tvcard/dvd recorder methods above - no max drive needed.

Like I said though, you can send me some of your goals in .max format and I can capture them for you.

So, you're ok with recording - but want to know about how to compress and edit your clips?

...I don't know if you checked out the link to Stevieboy's File Size Reduction guide, but that takes you through how to compress the video.

To quote it here:

File size reduction using VirtualDub:
1) Goto File
2) Open Video File
3) Select Video from your video docs
4) Click “Audio”, select “No Audio”
5) Then “Video”, then “Compression”
6) Then select codec, ie “DivX5.1.1 Codec”
7) Click “Configure”
8) Next, lower bitrate. 526 kb per second is a good general guide
9) Click “Ok” until you get back to where the video was opened
10) Finally, select “File” & “Save as avi”

Play around with the bitrate until you get a file that is nicely reduced in size, but is still reasonably high in quality.
Obviously, the lower the bitrate, the smaller the file will be, but the quality of the replay will be worse. Over-compression leads to a clouding effect; similar to one’s impaired vision after a few too many stella’s.

(Latest DivX codec is 5.2.0)

Hmm... how do you add texture to the video? (i.e: I want to have the text "elgen's compilation" or somewhat in the beginning of the video and a "elgen compilation" texture in the bottom left corner (almost transparent) and how do you add music? (I have some tunes/*.mp3's I'd like to use for my video) What tools do I need?

I've got 150+ goals (about 90 are mine and the rest are a friend of mine's), so it means that I have to setup several small compilations, right?

So, can you help me with these above mentioned Q's?

And yes, I know how to record from TV -> PC, but the rest is "unknown" for me.

I would say the best and simplest way to do what you want to do would be to use Windows Movie Maker.

Very easy to add titles, string together all your clips and add music to it.

Just use VirtualDub to compress all of your replays, and then compile all of your clips into Movie Maker.

150+ goals, that's one hell of a lot of goals!

Yeah... that makes about 70-80+- goals for me and my friend. We have this competition, you see... Only 3 of mine and 3 of his goals are against CPU. Rest = against each other and other friends (I mainly use manual passes and shots while my friend knows how to play airthrough passes... it's insane. Always beats me with his early air & ground crosses!) Lol. We even have stats for all our matches as of 1. Jan. 2005. Heh. My biggest win = 18-0. Biggest loss = 10-2.

So yeah, we can finally share our goals with the others thanks to your help, Tractor Paul! :)

I can plug it into my PC video card Geforce 2 MX 400, but nothing happens. űThe computer's screen still displays windows XP and has nothing to do with what's going on in the PS2. Ok...well your not doing anything wrong in terms of connecting up the yellow ending.

What software did you get with the card? ...as there should be a program whereby you can view and record using it. I don't know if this is what you are doing, or you're just connecting it up and waiting for something to happen...like it prompting a program to open up on its own and display the feed from the PS2.

You'll need to download Virtual Dub as well if you haven't already. So try opening that up, going to File and then 'Capture Video'. I can't guarentee that this method would work first time though, as I find with my tv card that I have to open up the software that came with the card, in order to configure it so that when I go to open Virtual Dub...the stream from the PS2 appears.

Try to locate the capture facility on any video editing programs you may have also, e.g. Ulead Video or Windows Movie Maker.

If there's still no joy, it might be that your card doesn't support NTSC, and can only work with PAL. (If your trying to capture Winning Eleven goals that is, rather than PES)

Also, you'll need to ensure that the required drivers are installed for the card.

I'll wait for a response before I babble on any more... :)

Thank you but it still doesn't work. I downloaded VirtualDub, and it doesn't display the PS2 in capture video mode. My graphics card geforce 2 is a bit old, so I can't find any help or downloads for it on the net...The same with Widows Movie Maker : it says no device is connected!

I went to other forums, too, but they said I can't connect my PS2 to a graphics card...I HAVE to buy a TV card.
But then, why is there a yellow hole in my GF2 MX 400 graphics card? I can put my PS2 cable into it...but NOTHING happens. Then what is it FOR?

I don't think it's possible to convert PSP goals.

As far as I know there's no way of converting them into PC or PS2 format for example so that they can be loaded up and captured.

It's by no means the best one out there, but it does the job.

You can either get a TV Card in the form of USB or literally the card that fits into your PC.

I've heard the Pinnacle TV Cards are good and they seem to be the most popular. Like this one (http://www.tv-cards.com/pctv.php) that's £50.

Depends on what your wanting to do with ur tv card if you just want to record your pes then you can get a standard card of about £20 that will do the job fine.

VirtualDub won't let you use the DivX codec?

I would suggest you try re-installing the codec, perhaps to the latest version if you haven't got it already.

If the problem persists, perhaps posting a screenshot of the problem would be of use...especially if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick. (I assume you are getting an error message)
