To me a sure Juve win, but the odds made me rethink again.

For those of you who think Juventus, instead of Liverpool, sound like more convincing candidates on getting into the semis, bet on the Italians :)

u will have 2 play 10 times betta than u did against city. also ive heard gerrard is a doubt, which will b a big blow

Saviola.

It's guna be Juve, cos it's guna b played in Italy, therefore Italian style, Liverpool will not be able to stop Juve from settling this time and Juve will play sweet slow Italian football and caress it into the back of the net...

Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of Wednesday's crucial UEFA Champions League clash with Juventus.
The Liverpool skipper is missing with a groin problem he picked up in Saturday's defeat at Manchester City.
After undergoing tests on the injury the club have revealed that he will not make the trip to Turin.
The news is a massive blow to Liverpool's hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of Europe's premier competition.
It is likely that Xabi Alonso will be rushed back into action as a replacement for Gerrard with Dietmar Hamann still absent through injury.
Liverpool are hopeful that he will return for the prem clash with spurs.

Did you expect us to lose when we never had Gerrard available for selection in the away game against Deportivo or the home game against Leverkusen? I know we face a stiffer opposition this time round but having Alonso back fills me with optimism. Stats also prove that we can cope well without Stevie G. Of course we're going to miss his presence and persona but I remain defiant. It's going to take a remarkable performance and I'm going to be positive with my presumption. Juventus conceded 3 goals on the weekend, they look vulnerable at the back and if we can score a goal the tie will be as good as won.

That's the F*ckin spirit, never believe that your team will lose, until it happens. You have to stick with them till the very end. And if Liverpool don't give up and fight like they have never fought before they will have every chance of going through.

Or what Arsenal did to themselves. Bayern weren't special in either legs, Arsenal just defended comically and handed them 3 goals to shoot themselves in the foot, and give themselves too much to do in the 2nd leg. Chelsea should be too strong for Bayern. I think Liverpool have more of a chance than some are giving them credit, they are more than capable of getting a crucial goal, with or without Gerrrard, but having said that, I feel Scott Carson's goalkeeping error may prove costly, and Juve will sneak through with a hard fought 2-0 win, with an inspired performance from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Those are crazy odds...i would bet some points for 'pool even if i did not support them. But i do. Problem is, ive been watching the first leg game and Juve were very unlucky...Gerrards absence is going to be devastating. But on the bright side, Emmerson and Nedved are not what they used to be, i could see that watching them play. My only worry is Ibrahimovic really...ill never forget the time when he dribbled past 4 defenders and the keeper inside the penalty box and scored...the man is very dangerous. Liverpool have some class players that can do all the difference if they play well, namely Riise, Garcia and the Mighty Baros! I'm pretty sure ill be betting 1000 on the pool...well see after i watch happy hour and highlights of the game on eurosport.

fluke88 and his merry band of txt spking gumf brothers are quick to point out that Juventus conceded 3. Don't forget that they came back to equalise 3 times. However, Liverpool lost to an under pressure Man City. Double edged sword.

Gerrard out. You all go on and on and on and on and on about how vital he is and that he's the best player in the world yada yada, then when he's missing you start reassuring yourself by saying that you don't need him. Don't talk shit. You do need him.

The Stadio delle alpi has been an impregnable fortress this season for juve. Liverpool have to make sure they don't concede early otherwise a second will look very likely. Its a tough one with Liverpool confident and Juventus determined. The champions league has been the only talking point in a disapointing season for the pool.

I think it's fairly obvious who i support. I'll leave you to dwell on that and let you supreme levels of intelligence (cough) to work that out.

Secondly, you wont prove me wrong. You know i'm right, you're just too afraid to admit it.

Fuck it! Everyone seems to be so sure the Reds are doomed i'm staking 1000 on them!
I watched the first leg game 3 times and after careful consideration i'm pretty sure Liverpool can do this. Juventus where at full strenght in that game and where completely neutralized. Juve's goal was clearly a goal keepin' mistake. All well need is a couple of glorious long balls from Riise and Garcia to an inspired Baros.
Then again it wont hurt to stake some in the other outcomes...its the wise thing to do.

Juve were at full strength?

the passing was horrible; not even one good pass. cannavaro and thuram were just looking at eachother and letting the players pass. nedved had just come out from an injury and didn't have any match practice. i watch juve's every game, and that wasn't juve at full strength. make sure you know what you're talking about

Police have arrested eight Juventus fans ahead of the Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.

A Liverpool fan was hit on the head with a bat on Tuesday evening at a Turin bar, police confirmed.

The supporter did not go to hospital and will still watch the game in Turin, but the home fans were arrested for violence and possession of arms.

Elsewhere, tempers flared at a hotel when Juventus fans arrived, reportedly carrying bottles and a stick.

Words were exchanged, but no fighting occurred and the Juventus fans ran from the scene when the police arrived

juve controlled the game well most of the time. all the players played well, except olivera who didn't know what he had to do and unsurprisingly was subsituted with zalayeta who had a very good match. the guy is improving a lot. del piero too is gaining form. didn't even fail a dribble. camoranesi is our top guy in my opinion; excellent control of the ball, good crossing, he just needs to be faster. montero was excellent in defense and so were emerson and zambrotta.

liverpool didn't exploit the few chances they had especially the one-on-one which baros had. overall i didn't expect juve to win after i watched the first half. they were slow and liverpool were not giving them a chance. juve played a lot of high ball which was foolish since liverpool's defenders are much taller.

anyway congratulations for making it to the semi-finals, although it's useless :)

Sami Hyypia is a fucking star! I dont think ive ever seen a defender make so many headers in one game. He kept Zlatan on a leash all game. And Traore and Finnan came thru as i predicted. I wasnt too happy about the last 2 changes though. Garcia or Baros should have stayed in the pitch just in case.

Good game from both sides. Liverpool defense was top notch today. Too bad Juve didn't win. I'm looking forward to the Chelsea v Liverpool game. That is going to be a classic.
They have already played each other 3 times this season and know each other inside out.

I'll rather watch Chelsea vs Juventus.

Kallum my friend you are so right but i think that is the thing that give's us that little extra push for us to win all critism makes the players want to win even more. But also i would like to say YES FUCKIN have that juve fans on here and all the rest of the people who writed us off my middle finger to all of you ha yes LIVERPOOL semi's here we come. What a performance and what a result. Even though we never got the backing of the so-called experts (pundits, journalists) and from many neutral fans, I knew we could do it. I was confident we would. We made Juventus look like an ordinary side. On paper, nearly all their players would be classified as world class. We have a few, we also have a few good players and some that are just average but we overcame an obstacle, we defied the odds and now we're in the last 4 of the Champions League. :D

Next up is Chelsea. Chelsea fans know that they were lucky on twice of those 3 occasions that they beat us, hopefully now the luck will fall in our favour. Suddenly the injury crisis looks like it's starting to ease up. We should have Gerrard, Hamann, Josemi, a fully fit Alonso and Cisse and possibly Kewell back. More options for the manager and that's a welcomed dilemma, no doubt. Let the good times roll.
