My mistake. 5 subs is the limit. We'll use the same rules as last year, which was 5, not 7, as I originally thought.

It's not fair on yourself, Nedy and others having to wait, so a forfeit victory was something I was considering, but then it's not fair to others who have had to play games and fight for the points, when others are being handed them, so I don't think that's an option.

Can managers ensure that all players are titled clearly. There are a number of players in the League, with the same surname, so, for example, please title Cristiano Ronaldo as 'C.Ronaldo' or Mahamadou Diarra as 'M.Diarra' just to avoid any confusion.

Well, if i'd have created a rule for one, and not for others it'd have been unfair. Rafalutionary and Top Gun haven't been online much recently either, and they were only saved by the fact their opponents hadn't posted their formations, so weren't waiting on them.

It's the same case for Ronaldo9, however. He hasn't been online in the past week, for reasons I don't know, but we can't wait around, as the season needs to get going.

The possibilities were either forfeiting the matches and giving a 3-0 win to the team that had posted their formation, or posting a formation up for them and see how they get on.

The results system has been slightly modified. The voting still determines the winner, and the goal difference, but the result may be different (ie changed from 2-1 to 1-0, 2-1 to 4-3 etc). It was something which was discussed recently in "Fantasy League Talk" but I will post in the "FL Announcements" thread later, so everyone is aware of it.

HP is dealing with 2 of the cup competitions, so we're sharing it out between us. It's a lot to fit into a season, but it's a chance for more "silverware" to be shared out. A lot of the cup matches are played in mid-week, but more will take place at the weekend, than last season.

I don't know if we have a plan for how to go about setting up such matches and dealing with there results but, if not, maybe this would work:

Whatever happens in the matches, don't allow any 'default' teams to pick up points, but don't simply award 3 points to the opposition. Make the team whose manager isn't incompetent play for zero, one or three points. That way other teams aren't put in a difficult position if another team automatically gets 3 points. In cases where two default teams may meet, again play out the game as usual. If one team wins, maybe give them one point, if it's a draw give them both nothing.

Giving those teams with uposted formations less points wouldn't do much to revive those managers' interest but would be unfavourable to new managers should they take over those teams. I was thinking of the same sort of method, where whether they (the managers who failed to post a formation) win, lose or draw, they'll receive no points. People who didn't post a formation for the opening League fixtures, got away with it, as I thought, as it's the opening fixture, it's kinda understandable, but i'm not happy to see it happen again so soon, so that type of punishment seems more than reasonable to me.

Well, if they aren't interested, they shouldn't be managing a team, to be honest. You have a point about new managers being hurt by this, but not much can be done about that.

I don't know if we have a plan for how to go about setting up such matches and dealing with there results but, if not, maybe this would work:

Whatever happens in the matches, don't allow any 'default' teams to pick up points, but don't simply award 3 points to the opposition. Make the team whose manager isn't incompetent play for zero, one or three points. That way other teams aren't put in a difficult position if another team automatically gets 3 points. In cases where two default teams may meet, again play out the game as usual. If one team wins, maybe give them one point, if it's a draw give them both nothing.
I was thinking of the same sort of method, where whether they (the managers who failed to post a formation) win, lose or draw, they'll receive no points. People who didn't post a formation for the opening League fixtures, got away with it, as I thought, as it's the opening fixture, it's kinda understandable, but i'm not happy to see it happen again so soon, so that type of punishment seems more than reasonable to me.

Just to remind everyone, the next 3 matches will be for the cup competitions. The postponed WCL matches tomorrow, the D1/2/3 Cups on Saturday, and WCL matches next Tuesday. Then, we'll probably have a break until after Christmas, and continue the League campaign in the New Year.

I've got some good news, and i've got some bad news.

First, the good news. The Godsend is back (yes, that's me) :w00t

...which will surely outweigh the bad news.. ;)

The bad news..

There's a chance that the matchday 6 fixtures will have to be postponed, i'm afraid. Now, I realise that there's been a long break from FL action and people want to get going again, but I think it's in our best interests to find at least 2 new managers for the 3 vacant teams, and have all their formations/squad rotation etc updated, before we get going again, to avoid further problems down the road. It's hard finding new managers thesedays, and it'd be further complicated if the League recommences at this point.

I'll do my best to find a couple of new managers tomorrow but, if I have no success, I don't feel the time is right to continue again, as 3 teams with no managers is too many, at this point in the season.

If it comes to the worst, we'll have to have a few managers taking care of the teams for the time being, but I want to attempt some recruiting first.

Assuming it does come to that, is there anyone who would like to look after a team for a short period, while I continue searching for new managers?

Yeah, the matches are being postponed until next week, to get a few things completely sorted, as it'd be too much of a rush today.

Judging by that, your squad rotation status isn't too bad, but the likes of Aldo Duscher, Richard Dunne, Albert Luque and Cafu will have to be played within the next few games, to make sure they comply with the "all players in the squad must start at least 2 games by the half season point (after game 9)" rule.

Raul, Deco, Riquelme and Ronaldo have played 5 consecutive games, so you'll need to give them a rest shortly, as after they've played 6 games in a row, they receive a one match ban suspension.

Don't worry mate, you'll get the hang of it shortly. It's not too difficult, the only problems are when D1 and 2 managers pick the same team week in, week out, and never play their fringe players, as their top stars start picking up suspensions then. As you're active, i'm sure you'll have no problem.

I'm hoping that i've found a top new manager to manage one of the teams, already (he's interested, just waiting for confirmation), but i'm on the lookout for one more to look after Jamster's old team. If I cannot find one, that's the team which i'd like another manager to look after.

I'll probably look after Sheed's old team, unless I can find a third. It's in need of a rebuild to stop them being the whipping boys, and i've got several free agents in mind for the transfer window, to hopefully turn things round a little, before a new manager takes over.

Goalscoring System

Votes to goals ratio

0-4 = 0 goals
5-8 = 1 goal
9-12 = 2 goals
13-16 = 3 goals
17-20 = 4 goals
21-24 = 5 goals

Although the scores may be changed to what are deemed more realistic, without changing the score difference, to try to make things more interesting and different.

i.e. A 1-0 victory may be changed to 3-2 based on comments, and how the game looks on the whole, or a 3-1 victory could be changed to 2-0, a 4-0 to 5-1 etc etc.

Basically, the voting determines the result and goal difference, not the actual scoreline.

I think your team is decent, but what often turns me against it (apart from the odd formation in the first couple of weeks ;)) is Poulsen on the right wing, and Arteta in the middle alongside Barton. If you stick Arteta out wide, and use Poulsen as a holding midfielder, I reckon your results may improve.

Agreed, Poulsen has been solid for Sevilla all season, so that is definately a good start.

You should check the Player Values sticky thread, mate. Although, it still needs to be updated in time for the transfer window, as a lot of the values will need changing.

In the same vein as that, I suggest to a lot of the newcomers to wait and see the values prior to agreeing to any deals. The first transfer window can be a killer to a lot of managers especially when they haven't gone through one before, so be slow to agree to deals.

How are you going to decide which values go up and down James and Victor? Are you going to base performance on any particular rating system, maybe skysport.com's one?

Mainly on their performances this season, how regularly they're playing, latest transfer news, age etc.

Gareth Bale's value, for example, you can expect to go up quite significantly for obvious reasons, while others who have been enjoying excellent seasons and gaining a lot of praise (Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Diego Milito etc) will probably be increased.

We're now at a stage where players may possibly be suspended in Division 1 and 2, so try to make sure your squad rotation stats are fully up-to-date.
