View Full Version : Bigger Than beckham?

I have just read the September issue of World Soccer and was interested to read Simon Bank's article about Ronaldo being more popular than beckham in the Far East.
The myth that beckham is the biggest player in the Far East was quashed by German sports marketing company Sportundmarkt. The company surveyed 3,000 people from China, Japan, and South Korea and it was found that 60% rated Ronaldo higher than beckham in terms of appeal. Nice to see the Asians appreciate good football, as Real Madrid where ranked higher in support terms than Man Utd in all 3 countries too.
Hope beckham has read this too, and maybe his ego will deflate once he realises he isn't the biggest player at his club anymore!

There is no chance of his ego dying down. He still knows about all the hype he gets everywhere else. He mainly gets the hype caus he looks like a twat and is very very very very very in touch with his feminine side. But thnks for the news that becks isnt that biggest guy in the far east. Thank god

Bah, I hate these footballer recognition battles.
I'd much prefer the soft-spoken Rauls and Bergkamps of the world who do their talking with their skills rather then a walking hype machine.

And Bergkamp is showing off his skills ina reserves derby. It doesn't really matter. I was just using them as examples because I consider them living legends.

To be fair, the Spanish media were jumping on Raul for 'average' performances but I wouldn't bother much with them. They love him, now, after Spain's win.
Did anyone catch Zidane's volley in the 7-2 win over Valladoid? Pretty stunning.
