View Full Version : What TV?
I am after a new TV package, well my dad is. I need a 42" or 37" Plasma or LCD TV, hopefully one with good features, maybe PC Input etc. Also a DVD Recorder with it. I could buy this as a package, or seperately. Looking to buy from a shop, so no online ones. The TV should be IDTV (i.e. have built in Freeview) IT HAS TO HAVE DVI or HDMI, i.e. HDTV compatible. This can be recognised with a HD Ready sign, or a DVB sign, or a HDTV logo.
I found a few so far.
Sony WEGA: 42" LCD TV £1499.99 in Argos
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3151&productId=119731&clickfrom=name
Unsure about this, dont like the Rear Projection aspect.
Goodmans GTV42P 42in Plasma TV. £999.99
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3151&productId=127483&clickfrom=name
Great price. It has "1 x AV, DVI, S-VHS sockets." does that mean PC in as well?
Lg 42" plasma tv and dvd recorder £1499.00
http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/260576.html
Philips 42" + DVD Recorder COMBI
http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/253286.html
Panasonic 42" viera plasma tv, floor stand and dvd recorder home cinema system £2329.00
http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/251810.html
Now price.... My dad is willing to spend a decent amount of money if the product is good. Like say it doesnt have to be a 42", it could be a 37". Say max price would be £2000.00 including stands/wall bracket, but might go up if tempted.
Also found this great one, anyone know were I could get it from, in a shop not online.
http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/html/JVC-AV42B50.htm
well that JVC one isn't out yet from what i can see online, thats probably why you can't find it on shops.

This one (http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/196797.html) is much more convenient.
Thanks, will be great to see Norwich play in the Championship next season, the screen size shows the priority of the Norwich games.
Thanks again.

lol at marrison89...quality.
i agree with him
What next Ash?
Your Dad is looking for a new Bentley?
Your parents require a new half million pound holiday residence?
You want to be mugged off with another 3 football tickets for over a grand?
Why don't you just buy the site Ash? You could spend the odd million on advertising and make it one of the best forums in the world.
Bigger fish to fry.
He's currently involved in negotiations with Google over a possible takeover.
Remember your roots on your way up Ash, PESInsight the first search result no matter what search.
Thanks for the thumbs up guys! Love the positive thinking.
I had two choices, Google or PESInsight. I chose the latter, because there are people who can help out better than a search engine.
Could you not buy your way into finding out who Umdiddedly is?
Aye,would be a cracking idea,50!.
Buy some hackers to break into his IP :)
I was thinking more along the lines of paying off Hitman but Hackers could work.
Why doesn't he just buy them all?
Then when they're delivered, just chose the best one for the main room, and put the remaining TVs in your other three living rooms and the others in your holiday houses across the world.
Great idea! Just ordering them. I'll leave feedback on what TV is the best. Thanks for the advice, very good indeed. Better than google.

Infact, i may consider buying them all and using the others as bedrooms occasionally!
Hi guys, I really need your help.
I'm looking for another luxury yacht. To cut along story short, I've now got far too many TVs lying about the place and they need a home. So I figured I do not yet have a yacht in every ocean in the world, so I'm set on another yacht.
Size not really important, as long as it displays my obscene wealth enough
I'm looking at these models at the moment:
http://www.caribbean-boat-charters.com/images/power_charter_yacht.jpg
http://www.expo21xx.com/yachtingnews/news/1142_motoryacht_megayacht/high-tech-luxury-yacht.jpg
But I've really set my sights on this one:
http://poolyachts.de/mega/Bellissima-C-o-Dateien/image005.jpg
Any help greatly appreciated.
*Edit*
I forgot to mention that the yacht must have a garage on board. Another long story, but through indecision I've ended up with an Enzo, Murcielago, Zonda and a Maybach lying about in my drive.

I KNOW! Why don't you buy all 3 and hop from boat to boat when you feel like it?
Ingenius...!
Ashmufc mate, ignore the wankers. They're taking the piss. I'd go for the Panasonic mate its got quality picture. It took me a month before i bought my tv so i know what im talking about. Well thats my advice. :)

If you want a quality TV with amazing picture go for Hitachi or Mitsubishi. They're are the top brand when you want HD picture.

Panasonic has the HDMI technology, which boost the pixel quality. My bro has a 56" Panasonic projection TV w/ HD and its perfect for any type of viewing. Sports, movie, DVD, and VHS all appear the same fine quality.
What is the difference between HDMI and DVI in qulaity? Or are they the same?

Always great to see people with PC's, PS2's/X-Box's and broadband (or at least dial up) getting shirty about people buying expensive things.........don't all these unnecessary gadgets cost a small fortune? Everyone need a TV don't they?

But try and help the man choose a TV. If he starts talking about what yacht he should buy or what small country then feel free to start slagging him off at will!
You should look up his thread about FA Cup Final tickets
Something like this:
"I'm looking for 3 FA Cup Final tickets, can pay upto £3000. Yes THREE THOUSAND POUNDS. THREE THOUSAND THOUSAND OF YOUR ENGLISH STERLING POUNDS.
I'll post again whenever I see any more massively overpriced tickets that only a rich spoilt mug like myself would buy"
...
"I've found a site which will sell me 3 tickets for £2,900. Not as much as I'd like to spend but still cool. I can just burn the remaining £100 on the fire now to make me warm...Ohhh that's nice and hot."
Here's the thread...

Those with money need to spend it :)

Is anyone jealous here?
Also me spoilt? I become spoilt because I want to buy a big TV.

Here's my TV, Ash.
All yours for £900.
Sure, it's not the greatest one you'll ever see, but you can give me the £900 and at least it will inform everyone one this forum that you are loaded, as clearly you do want everyone to know. For all we know, this could all be a front and you're not rich, so prove it. Agree the deal, I'll send you my address and you send a cheque to me then I'll take a picture to prove to the forum exactly how rich you are, then I'll send the TV.

I always wanted to get one of these projectors (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3151&productId=120367&Trail=C%24cip%3D21872.Sound%2B and%2Bvision%3EC%24cip%3D21947 .Televisions%3EC%24cip%3D21955 .Projection%2Btelevisions&categoryId=21955&clickfrom=name) but I considered £600 to be a bit steep (I can afford one but it's all my savings gone in one swoop). It can go to 300 inches :D
But that's probbaly the most I would spend on a TV. £1,500+ is ridiculous. Buy a car or a holiday instead.
And Liam - I'll give you £300 for it if you throw those curtains in as well.

Mmmmmm... I don't like the quality of the prokectors. Prefer a normal TV, also the viewing angles are not very good on Rear Prokection TV's as well.

You have the same TV as me  . Is it the one with a button on the side that you have to press to start?
Its a damn heavy Tv,that for sure
Yeah, that's the one!
Daft place for a button, normally I just turn it on and off with the remote so I don't use that button at all.
Heavy, but good :)

Close, but it isn't that colour, also it isn't very sunny all the time. Also the cars are wrong, no Mercs, BMW's and Bentley's in the picture.
