Well, ya should all of heard of it by now, but if not, here are the specs;

Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5
1GHz frontside bus
512K L2 cache/processor
512MB DDR400 128-bit SDRAM
Expandable to 8GB SDRAM
160GB Serial ATA
SuperDrive
Three PCI-X Slots
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
64MB DDR video memory
56K internal modem

Cost: $3000 + tax

May be expensive, yes, but an absolutely outstanding machine, yes. I look forward to getting one, probably not soon, i'll wait until it comes down in price, and yes, I may blow all my life savings on it, but ah well, it's an amazing machine for graphics design which I wish to persue as a career.

Now for those who say mac's suck, please know, that you're an ignorant person :)

Note:The SDRAM which comes with the computer, is originally 1 GB, but can be expanded to 8 :o

So thoughts?

You are ignorant, mr hit! Mac's are pretty cool machines... just wish I could afford one and anyone else I knew had one.

For regular use it's a very good machine for graphic design it looks superb. Specs are excellent, but I'd like to see some how can I say this nicely 'non-geeks' do some tests...most of the tests I've seen have been done against dual xeons (processor wise) and it's beating the pants of it. I'll wait a few more months for some more performance tests, but it is a very exciting prospect.

And for that price as well it's great considering the spec...Not sure if I'll get one I'm quite attached to my pc

A lot of programs are available now on the mac Pete, pretty much all of them you can get on the PC, and there are even exclusive programs made by apple, such as DVD Studio Pro 2 which just came out, which is amazing for making your own DVD's really, menus the lot.

And I just realised what I said was awfully vague, I meant people who just say macs are shit because they're macs, which I see an awful lot of at forums being a mac fan. I guess I have the best of both worlds having a PC too though :p

I would rather a Mac than a PC. But then I would rather Linux to Microsoft
