I think basketball is a pretty boring game because all that happens is that a team gets the ball then they always run up and score then the same happens with the other team. Oh!! but whats good about it is the Defence chants a luv them. The ps2 games are alright a suppose.

I'm a big NBA fan. Lebron James, Steve Nash, Amare Stoudamire, Steve Francis, Dwayne Wade, Allen Iversen, Jason Kidd and Tracy McGrady are my favourite players.
I'm a fan of Miami Heat, although I also like the Phoenix Suns a lot, they never have a dull match.
ESPN NBA 2K5 is the Pro Evo 4 of the basketball genre
Who do you think's gonna win the NBA Finals? I think Spurs in 6.

I often watch NBA on Sky Sports and its really good when you get into it.
Watching basketball is kinda boring I think, but actually playing it is rather enjoyable, it's just a shame that I suck at it.

i like indiana pacers and miami heat . my most fave player is rodman , i like basketball , i can play bassketball , it's a really enjoyable sport
I am a huge Suns fan - what a star Nash is !!! And Stoudamire will turn out to be the best player in the NBA in a year or two. The Suns have really changed the way basketball is played this year with their lightening quick attacks. Anyway I am a bit p...ed of that they lost in the playoffs but I agree that the Spurs will win the Championship in 6 or 7
I saw the Knicks get beaten by the Raptors at Madison Square Garden, it was rather boring as they stopped every 15 seconds to take penalties. It's also quite strange how incredibly anti-the-other-team the commentators are.

The Kings are my local team growing up so I like them as well but I feel they lost their chance to win a title the team is crap now. That said I'm not much of a fan, its a boring game.
currently the score of the NBA Finals is 2-1 with Spurs leading. SO who would u guys think will win the Finals this time round?Theres another 2 more games in Detroit..which i think they will be able to clinch all of them...These 2 teams are 2 of the best teams in the league i shall say.....though i still support Sacramanto..kekekex
MY god!Now the Finals tied at 2 a piece...Spurs are not performing as well as they should be....Their turnovers and shots have been so poor these past 2 matches. This is their worst NBA Finals match ever!!losing to Detroit by more than 30 points...
WHile on the other hand Detroit holds dominance on the offence and on defence with BIG BEN grabbing rebounds like he is grabbing money off the glass...
Game 5 is still in Detroit...Stay tuned to NBA to watch the it LIve Playas...
Hey ya'll, I actually play Baskatball and am hopfully getting a scholarship over in America next year. I love the watching the NBA on Sky. The Spurs have now taken a 3-2 lead over Detroit Pistons with a 96-95 win after overtime in Detroit, with Robert Horry scoring a 3 pointer with 5.8 seconds left. They can seal the title if they win on Tuesday (live on Channel 5) in San Antonio.
Game report (http://www.nba.com/games/20050619/SASDET/recap.html)
The game in San Antonio is gonna be a huge one for both the 2 teams...Spurs might have
the upper hand on winning the game..but not without a hustle on both sides of the court with Larry Brown's team- the Pistons....We'll see wad happens..

Lebron James is good! In fact, he's damn good...but...guarunteed to be the greatest? Michael Jordan he aint, my friend. He may be that good someday but "may" being the key word.
Michael Jordan has done it all and anyone who had the pleasure to see M.AIR.J play will attest to him being the greatest. Even those who went before him acknowledge that he is the greatest there has ever been.
LeBron is a jet..and he is still getting better (which is quite scary) but he has still got a ways to go before he can lay claim to being...THE GREATEST!
When Lebron has been scoring champ about 8 or 9 times and has 6 or so rings, has been MVP around 3 times, Finals MVP a half dozen times and Defensive POY a couple times...then...maybe then, we can say he's The Greatest. Until then, he's just another 'baller who we love to watch and who has the potential to ONE DAY be ranked alongside MJ. We'll watch and see how close he gets.
Cheers.
THE SPURS are the CHAMPIONs Again!!!!TIm DUncan was great during the last match. But i thought Manu was gonna be the MVP though...BOth teams were very good at both ends of the court with Rasheed coming off 2 huge 3 pointers at the final 10 seconds of the game...Well thats it for this season...NExt season will be even better.. dun forget to tune in guys..

Good to see an NBA thread here at PESinsight, being the only other sport I follow anymore besides sockher.
Michael Jordan, he certainly isn't. Growing up, there was nothing more I looked forward to than watching Jordan's excellence. He was absolutely peerless, shaming any of his contemporaries. And I was fortunate to see him in person, seats just behind the bench, during the magical 72-10 season that no NBA team will likely ever reproduce.
However, LeBron James is a freakish anomaly. The NBA has never seen anything like this young man. Jordan, Kobe, no one - can cover ground or get to the rim as effortlessly as LeBron can. The only thing lacking, in my opinion, is a consistent jumpshot on those players' levels, and the visual aesthetics Jordan and Kobe posses when they move or shoot the ball. If you watch him, you'll agree - he has a very blocky and raw quality to his movements that need to be smoothed out to maximize his already unmatched ability to move with power and speed.
And beyond that, LeBron James is 100x the passer those two players were and are, combined. And any player, who can score like Jordan or Kobe, but can pass better than Magic Johnson ever could, should no doubt be considered the greatest player ever if the career is not interrupted by injury or setback.
I've never been for judging a player's ability on paper, it's a fallacy to do so. Whether or not a player scores or does anything, will never be anywhere near as accurate as you watching him on the pitch or on the court to determine how good he really is.
A good example, and here comes the flames - I welcome them - is my opinion of Ronaldinho vs Pele.
There is no doubt in my mind that Ronaldinho is decidedly better. How can I say that?! It's not difficult. I have seen plenty of Pele, as Ronaldinho. I don't believe there is one person on earth who, in truth, can look at both players and say 'Pele is much better,' without lying. Look at them play.
I don't give a shit for goals or World Cups or championships. Ability, pure ability. Ronaldinho can do everything with a football Pele can do. Pele did not show that he could do everything Ronaldinho can do. So whether it is inconclusive or incomplete, Ronaldinho has shown me that he can do more things than Pele, and better.
::cringe::
oi man , did u guys seen the lebron james do 3 pointers from the half-court like 5 times in a row ? it's like a training video , when the cavaliers were training, he's just so good

I would watch NBA when it's on, hardly on TV for me, like once/twice a week, NFL is on quite a few times and I'm beginning to enjoy watching that, although I did enjoy playing Basketball for my school team, too bad the team sucked.
Nice to see an NBA thread here in PESInsight indeed. Just to let you know, i too am a big fan of NBA. Particularly Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets. My favourite stars are Paul Pierce (Favourite of 'em all) Amare Stoudemire, Yao Ming, Rasheed and Ben Wallace and just about now, starting to like Mehmet Okur. He really is good for the Jazz this season. I also like seeing Garnett play, simply incredible, and Elton Brand aswell. Anyway, there is an NBA player who is 5'5. Earl Boykins plays at Denver. I like the NBA when i have the chance, and i love the NBA Live versions. Currently unbeatable hehe.
Ahh I'm crushed for Amare Stoudamire - I hope he'll be the same when he gets back.
Paul Pierce, Rasheed and Ben Wallace, and Mehmet Okur? Good taste Nikos..
I still can't figure out why we got rid of Okur, such a shame.. He brought back memories of Bill Lambeer and the original Bad Boys.
Oh yeah, formerly at Detroit Okur, he just didnt get enough time to play. And now averages 20+ per game. Real good, they should have given away Darko Milicic instead! And i also believe that Rip Hamilton is having his best season of his career. Simply under-rated.
As for Stoudemire, he was on hot form last season, and improved like hell. That injury is such a big blow for the Suns, but Barbosa (who looks just like Rivaldo) Diaw and House are giving their best. Along ofcourse with Nash and Marion, btw, big fan too of Marion :).
Unfortunately, i still think that the Spurs will win the Championship again this year, they've added Finley and Van Exel . But hopefully, Phoenix will stop them, :). By that time, Stoudemire would have been fully recovered too.

Do you know when the 2k6 version is coming out?
2k6 is out and I can't peel myself from it. It is and has always been the Pro Evo of basketball games. I'm camping out an xBox360 with the tenacity of a marine sniper just so I can play it on a next gen console. It looks like a real fucking game. Glory.
My Cavs squad is so nice. Baron Davis at the point, a formerly disgruntled but now-happy Ron Artest at PF, LeGod James at SF, Joe Johnson SG, and yes - Mehmet Okur at the low post.
I jettisoned Eric Snow, Larry Hughes, Ilgauskas, and Drew Gooden. For subs I kept Jones, Marshall, and Varejao among others. I added Troy Murphy for another big-man-who-can-drain slot.
I have a Pistons league going as well as a T'Wolves season where King James and KG are teammates. It is so glorious.

i might get this game, even tho the nba has lost me as a fan, i hate the way the players act
is it worth it?
i support miami heat.that was before shaq joined. mainly because ive always supported the miami dolphins in nfl. which is the 2nd best sport in the world
Oh yes, Artest plays at the 4 slot for me. And he likes it. When Marshall comes off the bench, I move him to his 3.
Okur is a versatile player, incase you're looking for one. He can play at Center (If Kirilenko and Booozer are injured), strong at PF, and dangerous as the SF.
You know it - I have Okur in my new and improved Cavs league. See above.
Didnt see that,. Lebron James is great, no way you should change him. Good squad, Baron Davis will attack like hell, Joe Johnson is a killer from three's. Artest PF? He can, but seldom. Trade Artest for Amare or the best Paul Pierce,. But i suppose Artest can do the job. I will add though that Rasheed Wallance can be taken cheaply, you can trade Artest for him. Rasheed atleast knows how to shoot. Or Rip Hamilton (who is consistently becoming a arch shooter)
Nah I liked Artest and he fit well for several reasons - I was inspired partly by the recent media saying he needed a new beginning and wanted to leave the Pacers. He is small for a PF, but so was Dennis Rodman - and Ben Wallace despite muscles, is tiny for a center.
He shoots well, is quicker than anyone he matches up with on the offensive end, and I swear he has some 90+ rating in what I believe to be a hidden attribute governing transition 3's. He makes shitloads of them for me. He is 3rd in my league right now in rebounding as well, and holding strong there.
I had to edit LeBron James. The game developers are clearly the neo-generation of Jordan haters, applying themselves vindictively and with jealousy to LeBron now. He was laughably underrated - the man child is clearly better than Jordan ever was - and will continue to get better, end of discussion.
are the Charlotte Hornets still about?
Yes, and why American sports do not adopt systems of relegation puzzles me. I know you may appreciate the Hornets francise, but these corrupt sons of bitches that flounder in these poor teams tank games all year, especially at the end - to ensure lottery or high draft status.
EDIT: they're the New Orleans Hornets now. New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets because of the recent hurricane.
Yes, Lebron is a machine. The best superstar ever to grace the NBA, well give him 10 years of his own, a people will call him a legend. I do believe ya, Artest can hit 3's and not just that, avergaes 20+ points and is the best in stealing for the Pacers.
What do you make of the latest rookies? Bogut is pretty fine, but by the looks of it, Chris Paul should have been drafted first. The Bucks though are a good team, and i hope they get better. They have Michael Redd, who is under-rated really. Who is your favourite team dragonfly? Cavs i suppose?
@Cadey, its not the Charlotte Hornets no more, they are named now the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. ;)
It's Cavs now hehe. I was always such a fan of the game I never had a favorite team. I just wanted to see the best play the game.
I drifted away from the NBA up until about 5 years ago. I started watching that year, playoffs especially, and then followed this 'LeBron kid' over the internet with clips and such. ESPN televised a couple of LeBron's high school games live and that was it for me. Anyone could see this kid was extraterrestrial.
I don't think it is a matter of opinion - these are the facts:
No one gets to the rim as easy as LeBron. Throw a ball down a court and see who gets to it first, LeBron or Kobe. Yeah, try not to laugh so hard you shit yourself. I just did.
No one, not even Gilbert Arenas, is faster than him. Please remember kids, he's 6'8" 245 pounds. Christ.
Maybe only Vince Carter could jump higher before he hurt his knee, but I doubt it.
The only players stronger than him are Shaq/Ben Wallace/Alonzo Mourning. Those guys are all centers and anywhere from 50-100 pounds heavier. And not much stronger at that.
I don't care who is leading the league in assists. His vision is unmatched. His ability to make beautiful and impossible passes and the overall ability to make his teammates better towers over all the potential Magic Johnson and John Stockton ever dreamed of having, combined.
I'm watching him at the Bulls tonight. He keeps draining absurd 3's and running jumpers. He keeps driving and dunking like he is playing in a wheelchair league.
Jordan was still in college when he was this kid's age. College is, of course, where you are when you are not good enough to play in the NBA.
Excuse the double post, but I'm not going to add to that monstrous thing above.
This year's rookie class? Meh to them I says. I am still reeking spoilt over the year of James and Wade. If LeBron is better than Jordan, Wade might turn out to be = Jordan.
Dear God the Cavs are such a mishmash of shit. Like some clunking fucking robot with all the wrong parts, shambling on shooting out sparks and loose gears. It really is tragic.
Poor LeBron keeps on finding open teammates with passes no one on earth has ever been able to make, only to have them blow a fucking LAY UP. And when he's not doing that, he's hitting running threes and dunking in traffic.

I'm coming clean and saying "I haven't a clue how the game works". I know the basics like you throw the ball in the hoop, but thats where it stops.

first, gad, u have it on xbox or xbox360 or ps2?
second, lebron won't reach MJ status if he never wins a championship, although i will say that no one will ever do what James is doing at his age...Stockton and Magic had better court vision than James does now, but james is still unbelievable, James should be playing PG for the Cavs to cause mismatches and get the ball in his hands straight away.
Jeez, I haven't seen a Basketball match in ages.

My opinion of greatness in Basketball, is being able to entertain. When I was watching it a few years back Iverson was the Ronaldinho of the game. You could tune in to any game with him playing and you'd watch the whole thing through.
Does Lebron fall into that category? I heard he's apparently the youngest player ever or something like that.

he can pass, often compared to magic johnson, and jump out of the gym like jordan, so yea he's the greatest, in ur opinion
in my opinion, i forgot a big name
TIM DUNCAN
very productive and wins titles, that is greatness to me, underrated as well

i don't like the whole thug image of the NBA personally, players think they're bigger than the game, whereas someone like Duncan goes out, does his job, and wins a game as a member of a team, I think a great game of "TEAM" basketball looks better than the "INDIVIDUAL" trash that we are seeing all to often nowadays, its the reason why the US basketball team lost in the last world games, we have too many great individuals and not enough team guys
Didn't they get knocked out of Olympics cause they played a third-string team?
I understand what you mean. A team game is even more beautiful to the eyes than a one-man show. Though it's only right that you get such charismatic characters on the court, especially on such monstrous wages.

Ricky Davis is one of the funniest human beings on earth. In his last year with the Cavs he drop kicked a ball into Soviet airspace after the ref blew a frustrating foul.
Afterwards, with half-lidded eyes Mr. Davis smiled and explained to the reporters, "Just trying to stay calm."

They're both his correct names. Tyrone is the name on his birth certificate, Muggsy is his adopted pseudonym.
If you like the underdogs Cadey - The Nuggets franchise in Denver gives many minutes to Earl Boykins, at 5'5". He is about SWP's size, a little bigger than Giuly. Fine player - I have no idea how he accomplishes the good he does, at that size. Extraordinary.

Kobe hit 62 points through 3 quarters alone, outscoring the entire Mavs squad 62-61 and mutually agreed with Phil to sit out the 4th.. I cannot stand him, although that was class on his part. He is nothing but excellence on the court.

what the hells up with the nets? They got the special trio: Jefferson, Kidd and Carter. they only win like half their games.
Anyone seen what Shaq had to say about Kobe after their game? Shaq has seriously become a nuisance, too bad Kobe couldn't shut him up and lost to the Heat after the missing the three that could have won the game for the Lakers.

Kobe scored 81 points against the Raptors.

Second highest point total for an individual game.
Just awesome.

He did 27 and 28 in third and fourth period.
55 points on a half. So he can beat Chamberlain.
I find Basketball very interesting, but I hardly get any footage of it here. Only Dutch basketball, which isnt even wort commenting on
81 from Kobe last night, how do you describe that..?
Still for me the King is yet a boy and learning. All hail King James. 51 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds the night before last when he needed 45+ points to become the youngest player ever to 5000, besting Kobe by over a year. 21 years and 22 days I believe..?
The game was magical, dunks in traffic/impossible layups/running jumpers from all over the place as well as a half dozen or so threes.
Anyone seen the NBA All-Star Weekend?
Just to sum things up. Nate Robinson, the New York 5'9 rookie won the Dunk Contest! Fucking amazing dunk, did you see him jump over legend Spud Webb? Hell lot better than the defending champion Josh Smith. Great work.
I was surprised to see that Dirk Nowitzki win the three-point shootout, crazy! Ray Allen was almost nothing, I was expecting him to win. Anyway, great work from the Big German.
Sophomoroes beat the Rookies, amazing stuff from Andre Igouadala from the 76ers.
Wade beats LeBron in the skills challenge.
But the best out of all was definitely the All-Star game. Damn, the West stars were at a point leading by 17! Good stuff though from the East stars to climb back and win the game by two. Infact, the fourth quarter was mainly the Pistons (Billups, Wallace B, Wallace R, Hamilton) and Pierce as the other forward. They did great work to bring the deficit to a closer range. Well, it's obvious that would have happen beacuse the head coach of the East stars was Detroit's head coach, Flip Saunders. Anyway, talk about KINGS. Lebron James was simply fantastic last night, where he scored 33? I don't know, this kid is becoming probably the best talent the world has ever seen. T-Mac led the Western Stars with 33 aswell I believe, he looked pretty cool with a headband. Back to the game, did you see the double block of Ben Wallace against Pau Gasol? What a beast! It was 120-118 to the East Stars. Western Stars has the final posession, T-Mac wasted time till 10 seconds left, hit a three, but missed, Garnett gets the rebound, passes it to Kobe in the perimeter, Kobe drives, but loses the ball in where Pierce throws it to Iverson and then alley-oop passes it to Carter who misses the open dunk. But as soon as Kobe lost the ball, it was going to be East's win again. 120-118 to the Eastern Stars the final score. I'm not sure who won the Finals MVP, but it's gotta be LeBron. Anyone else seen the game?

I saw a little bit of it, all of the 4th quarter and little bits here and there before that. LeBron James did win the MVP, Tracy McGrady must have pushed him close, though. The East were lucky there wasn't half a second more time, as after they had missed the dunk, the West would have had a chance to shoot for 3 and win the game.

Not a big fan of Basketball. I went to New York last year with Uni and quite a few of us went to see a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. It was shit to be honest, probably because the Knicks are shite anyway, but we ended up getting off at half time. Can't even remember the score or who they where playing, thats how much attention i was paying!
I like Shaq he's more of a team player than Kobe, frankly, i think kobe is a little bitch

A bitch he is, but now I call him Mr. Clutch. Whether it's a two, three or fade away, he knows his stuff. Did you see his buzzer beater against the Suns in their Game 4 Playoff OT? That really hurts. Suns failed twice while they seemingly had the game in their hands. I won't forgive that bitch, Suns down now 3-1. They have to win their remaining three now. Period.
Speaking of Playoffs, Bucks - Pistons on the Telly now, good game, pretty close. I hope Bucks win to tie the series to 2-2. Michael Redd is just an awesome talent, I think he is under-rated.
Ok, Suns are out obviously since the Finals 2006 is between the shittest teams ever (Sorry, I'm just dissapointed Suns didn't make it) Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Game 1 at Dallas, TX. On TV now, and tied 48-48, so far going well for both. Honestly, I just hope Miami wins so Dallas will feel the pain Phoenix is suffering., nah, I just hope these two provide us some entertainment and at the most, a game 7. That will be amazing. Nowitzki vs. Wade. Wow.

True. This season has been fantastic. Anyway, bloody Mavs took Game 1 after their 90-80 win against Heat. Ridiculous,. Shaq was completely shut down in the fourth quarter. Walker restricted to no points in the whole game, while Wade was the only man stepping it up for the Heat. Oh yeah, Jason Terry hit 32 points in this game. Game 2, still in Dallas, TX.

D-Wade or Nowitzski, who is better?
I hate both fuckers, but I can't dent their talents. Wade is individually a better player, BUT Nowitzki is also one hell of a player. More of a team player though as he proved in game 2 of the Finals. Now, Dallas 2-0 Miami.
firstly, Garnett will be one hell of a trade for lakers. but i dont see it happening anytime soon. he does need to prove himself in a team where he can realistically reach the playoffs
As for Wade v Nowitzski, personally i will say wade. Dont get me wrong, Nowitzski i one hell of a shooter and has improved his defensive game, but he still does not have that x factor, that can make him change a game on his own like MJ did. Kobe has it and definately Wade has it. The difference between Kobe and Wade is that Wade is more of a team player. Although he has high points in games, his assists are also getting higher. He knows he can not do it on his own. Look at in game 2, he tried feeding the ball to Walker and Shaq. Kobe would have done it on his own.
But in my eyes, the best player in the League is still Kobe. On the clutch, Kobe is the best player on the ball. Also his points per game record is amazing. all he has to do is step up his defensive game and become more of a team player.

hahah yea he didnt have a good season cuz he was mostly injured wat a shame. I excepted the Rockets to be a championship contender wit Yao n Tmac but injury to both of them have made it impossible. Hopefully they r healthy this season. I would rate tmac a 94 out of respect:happy:
I don't see any reason why the USA should not win this tourney, beyond themselves. Not to down any of the other teams from around the world, because they are also very good, especially Argentina, Spain, and Greece (who I didn't know was undefeated until today), but the USA has the most talent overall, and they even got smart and added role-players and defenders to actually round out the team, instead of just throwing a crap shoot of players on the court. I don't get Coach K's philosophy sometimes, because 'Melo gets the ball so much. All he does is shoot, no passing, no rebounds...just shooting. I would feed the ball to Brand down low, because not only would he probably eat the defenders alive, he is a great passer who could open up lanes for Wade, LeBron, and even Carmelo. I don't even want to think of how nasty this team could've been with Kobe and Amare.
A lot of team USA's weaknesses were shown during the Italy game, and even though I can't stand 'Melo, his performance did save the team. A lot of weaknesses were also shown against Germany (althought the score would beg to differ). They missed 50 shots against Germany, and that just won't fly against a high caliber team like Spain or Argentina. Also, they need to put the clamps down of defense because even though they average over 100 points per game, they allow 80 which is more than most teams average. So, a good team is going to put up more points while also bringing USA's point total down. I think it all comes down to playing smart basketball, and getting back to more fundamentals - no bad shots, pass the ball around, and good defense.

Oh how I wish the Bucks could be good, but they can't seem to keep any team chemistry, because they make so many trades every off-season, and they even trade solid, consistent players (i.e. Joe Smith) for inconsistent potheads (i.e. Ruben Patterson). You'd think the G.M. would look in the past and see that the Bucks made it to the Eastern Conference finals with a team that had been together for three years. The bucks probably were the best team in the East that year, but as any person from Milwaukee will tell you, they were cheated.

Actually, Kobe is injured, and Shaq wasn't invited (that's not to say they would've played together anyways, egos). Like Real Madrid the best players in the world will not guarantee a title. I stayed up til 2 in the morning to watch the game n thought it was gonna be another blowout in the first quarter. Then this guy nicknamed Baby Shaq ,n for a good reason, dominated Brand n the team. After that came the Pick n Roll marathon and lucky threes going in show began. I have to give in to Greece they played one of the best team defenses i have ever seen. U think wit James n Wade the US would blow thru defense. I think the USA team really need Kobe for his scoring ability n cuz his the best player in the world IMO and a actually center not Brad Miller like Amari. Brad Miller, but he never played. I can't really think of any really good centers besides Shaq, Stoudemire (who probably looks better than he is because of Steve Nash), and Ben Wallace (who can't really scored, but looks great at Detroit because of how well he fits into their defensive scheme).
Ben is now at Chicago isn't he? I'm expecting a lot from them this season, with my Celtics falling short again OR going out the first round, simply because Danny Ainge isn't really working his ass for us, instead for his own money.

Yes, Ben is in Chicago now. I think the expectations from the fans and the Bulls are very high for him, just because he was such a stopper in Detroit. I just think that he may have a more difficult time because the Chicago team defense is not as good as Detroit's and he'll have to do more on his own.
My team is secretly the Bucks. I live in Milwaukee, and every year I hope they win the Central, but it's such a competitive division now that it's hard for them to do well (every team from the Central division went to the playoffs last year). But the next few years looks really good for them. Bogut played very well during the FIBA World Championships, and they also picked up Charlie Villanueva, who has a lot of upside, and they got him for a guard. I don't like that they traded Joe Smith for Ruben Patterson, but you win some and you lose some. I am very glad they traded Jamaal Magloire. Now, the GM just needs to let the team jell for a season, and they will win 50 games. But, other than the Bucks, I only like the Cavs and Mavs. I'll always cheer for them, as long as they aren't playing the Bucks.

23 assists by Steve Nash against the Lakers. That guy is something else :shocking:
Bulls are looking impressive. I expected them to beat Miami Heat, but not a whitewash. They could go a long way.
Yeah me too, Bulls looks very good this playoffs. They just sweeped the defending champions. So far it looks like this
Eastern Division
Bulls vs. Pistons
Cavs vs. Nets/Raptors (Nets lead 3-1).
Western Division
Mavs/Warriors (Warriors lead 3-1) vs. Jazz/Rockets (Rockets lead 3-2)
Spurs/Nuggets (Spurs leads 3-1) vs. Suns/Lakers (Suns lead 3-1)
Looks really good for this year with Mavericks on the verge of elimination. They were tipped to go all the way infact. Spurs just have that pedigree, LeBron and the Cavs have gone one step further, Rockets getting back on form and the Chicago-Detroit matchup is too balanced I bet we'll see 7 games. Also Ben Wallace returns to his former home arena.
As usual, I hope Suns go and win the championship. They have what it takes now, with Dallas out of the way (I hope) and their record against San Antonio they can make it to the Final. Stoudemire is back and he's going nowhere, Nash has been brilliant again, Barbosa is showing the benefits of Nash's guidance and ofcourse Matrix, Raja Bell and Jones make up this great team. Go Suns!

nash is cool, but New Jersey all the way. Would support knicks but there the knicks
I usually like the Rockets, but I'm very happy if the Suns win it. Nash is still something else. About time Houston regains some form.
Nowitzki carried the Mavs, great game that was. They sent 3 defenders on his ass and he still did well.
Golden State knock out the Mavs! :D

dallas are 1-8 vs golden state!
Nowitzki missed his first eight shots, bricking consecutive 3-point tries late in the second quarter before hitting a 16-footer for his first basket of the game with 38 seconds left in the period. Dallas trailed 50-48 at the break but couldn't match the Warriors' energy in the third. The Mavs went 5:07 without scoring as Golden State turned it into a rout, leading 86-63 going into the final 12 minutes.
Jazz knocks out the Rockets.
So it's the Warriors - Jazz (Interesting to see who comes out to challenge for the Western conference title, two teams that upset the big ones)
Spurs-Suns (Tie of the round!)
and from the Eastern division
Pistons-Bulls (Pistons lead 1-0 after their affair at Auburn Hills)
Cavs-Nets (Cavs lead 1-0, how far can James lead his team?)
on a side note:
Panathinaikos BC - Euroleague Champions! :w00t
Panathinaikos have won their fourth Euroleague title and have once again cemented their status as the best basketball team in Europe after they defeated CSKA Moskova 93-91 tonight in Athens.

olodude, aren't you a GSW fan? And you like Suns too, yeah?
Anyway 2-2 now, we have to beat the SAS at our home, game 5.
im a suns fans and i was supporting golden state because i dont like those mavs.

 Top man!
I believe Suns can beat this thrash team, mark my words, we win game 5 we will win this series. From then on, it looks like we will play the Jazz for the conference title. I'd prefer to play the Jazz than the Warriors if you ask me.
Game 5 between Cleveland and Detroit was probably the game of the season, awesome. LeBron was tearing them from limb to limb, thrilling stuff. The man has everything.
Billups is as cool as a cube of ice, missed a few FT's though.
Spurs - Cavs. NBA Finals 2007. Spurs currently leading 2-0. Anyone say game 2? I thought that Paker and Horry in particular were brilliant. Parker hit 30 points along with a few assists and Horry played one of his best games ever. 9 rebounds, 11 points and 5 blocks. That's just awesome.
Anyway, I'm rooting for Spurs simply because for Parker and I can't stand Cavs. Now there is the talk of LeBron being God and better than MJ. He hasn't even won a title yet, if he wins this one though (I doubt it very much) then we can talk about comparing him to MJ. But for now, I think Spurs will sweep this team 4-0, and win the championship in Cleveland.
Spurs have been playing very well as usual with the big three (Parker, Gino and Duncan), but have let themselves down in the final quarters. Leading by 30 points in 3rd Quarter, the lead was cut to 11. So they will need to work on that, either way, still have confidence in them.. Experience guys, experience.

I'm rooting for the Cavs, classic underdog situation. LeBron shows all the signs though, it's obviously unfair to compare him retired legends yet. It's remarkable that even if he gets covered by 2 men he doesn't resort to silly egotistical behaviour but rather plays the teamgame.

I'd love to see that happening, he is very under-rated.
And Barry, did you know that Francisco Elson from SA Spurs is Dutch? Didn't know that myself.

I know, he made a great dunk in game 1 :w00t
as much as i love tim duncan, i desperatly want Cavs to win just to see the underdogs come out on top but sadly it is highly unlikely with the 3-0 lead.
what was varejao thinking?
Game 4 is two hours away from tip-off. Spurs win, they get their 4th title in 7 years. Cavs are in the Championship Final for the very first time and need to win the game in order to avoid elimination.
I want Spurs because of:
1)I can't stand Cavs
2)I put in a big bet that Spurs will not only win the title but sweep the Cavs and in this particular game to win by 4 points. And Duncan MVP (let's hope I get one of them right).
Congratulations to the Spurs, the Cavs just faced a better team, it has to be said.
Duncan is a fantastic player.
In other news..
The NBA Draft 2007 was last night. And the no.1 pick was Greg Oden, drafted by Trailblazers. No.2 was Durant for the Seattle Super Sonics.
And in even better news, Celtics acquired Ray Allen in exchange for Wally Sczerbiak, Delonte West and Jeff Green.
Ray Allen! :dribble:
Boston Celtics latest acquirement; KEVIN GARNETT.
The man who spent all his years at the Timberwolves has moved on to the Celtics.
Now the team consists of All-Stars Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. I shit you not.
Milwaukee Bucks will come out and rule this season! Michael Redd!
Good stuff by the Celts. I actually saw some baseball last night which is a first, and I'm sure it was Garnett I saw pitching a ball
EDIT: It was him, just visited the Red Sox site.
Well Celtics are on a buying spree after they missed Iverson last season.
A Finnish player called Petteri Koponen got drafted into NBA in the first round!

I doubt having 3 superstars will work. That team will just be way too overpowered. I mean these are not stars of the "Stoudermire or Shawn Marion" class. These are people who basically owned teams. They would probably get to the Playoffs but I doubt they will progress that much.
Why oh why when it comes to sports, the Spanish destroy us. :(
Just watched the EuroBasket match between Spain/Greece and they thrashed us 76-58. Too easily.
Always the Spanish!
-Spain 1-0 Greece (u-19 Final)
-Greece 2-3 (Friendly)
-AEK Sevilla (1-6 aggregrate)
-Spain 70-49 Greece (World Champs. Final)
Tonight and so many others. :crymore:
Now we have to beat Croatia to get into the final 8. I wonder if anyone else watches this?

Fantastic All-Star Weekend, in particular Howard and Green in the Dunk Contest were magnificent. It's always a joy to see this event.
The guy with the Superman cape was brilliant. The guy who blew out the candle on the cake was pretty awesome too.
Yeah.
All star game was so boring. Fuckin south.
J Kidd tho... thats my boy.
Bryant for the Season's MVP? I think it would only be fair. The only other realistic options would be Paul, Garnett and James.
Celtics(1) - Hawks(8)
LA Lakers(1) - Denver Nuggets (8)
NO Hornets (2) - Dallas Mavericks (7)

Yeah i suppose thier mind games didnt work. Gils wrist and knee werent doing him a favour,he had to defend lebron deeper which he just bombed the perimeter. 2-10...thats just not post season material.
Alas i am still optimistic come thursday. Ilgauskas and Szerbchak(spell?) had good games too.

Well the Celtics won so I'm happy, t'was a nice drive to the bucket by Butler. I still think the Cavs are going to win it though. Reckon there's an upset in store here LostGalactico?

Well the next game is in DC if they can stand up and put pressure on the cavs to win at home. Just prayin that Butler, Jamison and Stevenson did what they did to the Cavs in game 3.
Celts - Hawks got pretty interesting :O Although I cannot see Hawks winning in Boston. And Hawks only made one 3-pointer in the game 6!
Kobe MVP, pretty much deserved in my opinion. Could've been CP3 as well though.

I'd give it to Kobe. He's been immense. He's so much more of a team player now, though it helps that he has Gasol around. Shame he's such a cunt at most times though.
That Game 6 was extremely idiotic in terms of refereeing. They kept on falling for those flops. Pierce fouled out - for what? Game 7 - that screen by Garnett on Pachulia was brilliant
The Cavs are a different story. The Celtics have to win a road game now.
Actually they don't have to win away, because they still have the home court advantage. :)
My picks for the conference semifinals:
Celtics over Cavs in six
I just cannot see Cavs winning a game in Boston, and I think having to play a game 7 against Hawks actually woke up the Cs and made them stronger as a team. If someone can stop LeBron it's KG and the Celtics. If Cavs want to win this series or even take it to a game 7, West and Szcerbiak need to play thei best too. One man cannot beat Boston, even if it's LeBron.
Pistons over Magic in six
Again, Pistons having home court is the key. They trashed Orlando in game 1, and looks like they have the defensive tools to stop Dwight Howard. Him, Turkoglu and Lewis need to step up their games big time if they want to beat Detroit. Pistons seem to be finding their playoff form; they have been excellent in their last three games or so.
Lakers over Jazz in six
Lakers and their brand new MVP just look like they are too good for Utah. Jazz have great players like Boozer, Okur and Williams, but right now Lakers look unbeatable even when they aren't playing their 100% best game. Utah is a great home team though so I believe they can win two at home and not get swept.
Hornets over Spurs (!) in seven
Hornets have the home court, even though it's not such a big factor when playing a superb post-season team like Spurs. Hornets have the game 1 in the bag. David West has to keep outplaying Big Tim if Hornets are going to win this series. But who wouldn't want that to happen? Hornets of 07-08 are such a feelgood story.

yeah cmon boston! so bitter bout the cavs.
The Pistons are incredible when they turn it on, but every night its a question whether they are going to show up. Agreed on the predictions though, I'm rooting for the Celtics and the Hornets myself.

nah man, they still keeping name, colours and logo, just moving places. oklahoma felt that they deserved their own team after they did a good job hosting the hornets after hurricane katrina happened. they still gonna suck though, kevin durant is the only small bright light.
that should be the same when new jersey nets move to brooklyn in the 2010-2011 season thus being called brooklyn nets.

lostgalactico, with u being a wizards man, do you really think they can push for a championship in the next couple of seasons. Gil signed up his new deal saying that its their time to push for a championship and liked the optimism shared by the franchise. do u think they can go all the way?
for those who are interested. summer player movement so far
Baron Davis(FA) >> L.A Clippers
Elton Brand(FA) >> Phili 76ers
Corey Maggette(FA) >> Golden State Warriors
Jermaine O'Neal >> Toronto Raptors. In exchange for T.J Ford, Nesterovic, Marceo Baston plus future draft rights >> Ind Pacers
Chris Duhon(Bulls) >> New York Knicks
Brent Barry(FA) >> Houston Rockets
Mickael Pietrus(FA) >> Orlando Magic
Richard Jefferson >> Milwaukee Bucks. In exchange for Bobby Simmons and Yi Jianlian >> New Jersey Nets.
^^ alot of talk has been about this trade in particular. ever since the nets traded Jason Kidd, they have been rebuilding and have now let go of a key player in Jefferson. In 2010 Lebron James becomes a free agent and this trade has been seen as a set up for the capture of James. Sean Carter who is a part owner of the Nets is one of the reasons why this rumour has been around because of James and JayZ's friendship. Still, its mite just be a well written rumour.
there are other trades, but cba to post them.

kwarme brown? Can't beleive MJ picked him for the wiz as numero uno.
And a response to your earleir question (belated, i know forgive me)
i reckon this wizards team can deinately mix it up with the big boys, few more years of Antawn and Gil is a bonus is what th hopes and dreams are backed up on. Let me say it here first Wiz to beat the cavs in next years playoff with stevenson hitting a 3 on the clincher on James' head.
Ah yes...Kwame "Rock Hands' Brown. Now there's a sad tale. What about the Rockets moving for Artest? Quite a smart move, he's in the last year of contract so he's bound to perform and if he doesn't they can easily get rid of him.
He does bring his mercurial personality with him, but he might finally get McGrady past the first round of the play-offs.
yeh well that artest trade sounds very good. but i thought that would allow tmac to leave houston for detroit and let houston get billups the other way. dont know how houston will fit artest within their salary cap. it looks huge with yao, tmac, francis, alston and now artest.
ahh yes and the nba schedule has been released. some tasty first game match ups.
Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavs. LA Lakers vs Portland Trailblazers(with greg oden finally)
San Antonio Spurs vs Phoenix Suns. Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks
Detroit Pistons vs Washington Wizards. Chicago Bulls vs Boston Celtics.
New Orleans vs Phoenix Suns. LA Clippers vs LA Lakers.
a few more announced but these ones i cant wait for.
Looks good, also Boston and the Lakers meet on a Christmas Night that also has New Orleans v Orlando and the Spurs at the Suns.
Can't wait.
my suns need to sort their shit out quickly. i love shaq. i mean the old shaq where he was untouchable. and suns paying him prob 20mil a year for little effort. waiting for him to shut me up this season. and we bloody need better wingmen.
Yeah, the Big Cactus in his prime was a force of nature. It'd be good to see him do it in Phoenix, though I seriously doubt it. He's been sub-par by his standards for a while now.
Still, he's a regular quote machine, I'll dig up some gems later.
Bit short on money now, so no; I still play 2k8. Anything massively different or same old some improvements?
Start of the season in about two weeks, can't wait. Certainly now that the Red Sox are 3-1 down again ( :fplm: ) and the Celtics have a decent pre-season going on.

gah!!! Gil is out for the first month, at most!!!!
the game is a massive change on 2k8, most of the changes are for the good such as the Live Roster feature. And just the little things in the game like the sounds that arenas play when you hit/miss a free-throw, when certain players get hold of the ball, and player celebrations. AgentZero would love the Stevenson 'I Cant Feel My Face' animation he does whenever he hits the odd 3.
