Fu** PES3!! club football looks so much better than it in every aspect, and it also play's like PES!! It even has likeness on the ball, like pires looking flat footed when he runs, the graphics are also well, well better than PES 3, if u don't believe me go to the codemaster website and type in club football, the player's faces are also photo realstic, forget Fifa, PES 3 will really struggle against a game which does'nt only offer in depth gameplay but official licenses, coming out of it's ears even down to official player voices.

ummm... seen as i have been here longer why don't u do, one. Also that is my own opinion and if u would go and check it out u would realise just how good a game it is, pro evo 3 could be better but club football will really give it competion. Also i will go and play with my action man while u go and play with your copy of FIFA!!!

Amazing, the likeness could not be better, graphics wise i have not seen anything ever like it, it is like being in Anfield on a match day, the sound and commentary are amazing. There is even an editor on it to change the hair, it is like pro evo but with everything licensed, even the advertisement boards. (soz about th FIFA comment!)

I've seen some videos of CF and, indeed, the graphics are well done and the realistic touches like the camera swaying to managers is definitely a nice touch. Aesthetics isn't at all what I'm looking for and, ultimately, gameplay is what counts and although I've never actually tested out CF yet, I've heard many reports on the game from ECTS and various other previews and it all but confirms it is not going to have much on PES3.
PES3 is the undsiputed king for the moment, and that's not to say Club Football will be bad, by any means. It certainly looks more promising then FIFA 2004, that's a fact. Codemasters will gain experience from this outing, however, so let's hope next year they can apply lots of pressure (EA too) on Konami.
All of us should buy the best product out there, not side with any one company. Competition is healthy, I'll reiterate that.

PP. yeah i agree competion will make the PES team raise the bar for pro evo 4 while hopefully club football will knock away FIFA which i am 110% sure it will, i will be buying both CF and PES 3 as CF comes out october 31st it still has alot on like champions league, domestic league and a supercup.

Sorry guys, but I have to disagree. The screenshots look pish poor IMO. Photo realistic? I think not. Looks like a cartoon version of PES3 to me! Look at the Chelsea screenshots ffs!
I've also read it plays like a three legged poodle on acid!
I would have loved this to be a great game but with competition like PES3 it doesn't stand a chance in the gameplay department. :o

Are u blind mate, or pissed they look well better than proevo3 and it plays like pro evo as well. to say the graphics are poor is dumb or u are just bias. The faces are actually photo rendered. I agree with u about the gameplay i think it will be a tad better than CF

Just read a little about in Play mag. Seems that they have some probs with the AI at the mo and the graphic avg to good. We'll have to see, I guess.

Club Football is very good - I should know, I work for Codies and I'm marketing it! - but we're not going to take the crown from PES just yet. We're good (better than FIFA) but not that good - hopefully in time we'll get there. Rememeber, this is our first time doing a football sim, Konami have been doing PES/ISS/WE for years so they've got the history.
It's a slightly different kind of game to PES to be fair in that it appeals to specific fans of the club, whereas PES is more general. From what I've heard and read on forums, a lot of people will buy PES3 and Club Football (and forget about FIFA - they given it just too many chances). Which is fine by me. That's what I'll be doing...

I don't believe you!
Club football is rumoured to have 3 different control systems. One for fifa, one for PES and one for its own system.
rebusrahman
19-09-2003, 07:19
It does indeed. I kinda understand why they've done it but it does take from it's own sense of identity a little I think.
rubbergenius
19-09-2003, 08:04
Whether that detracts from it's own identity I don't know. The default is the PES controls so perhaps, in that, maybe it does. We'll probably make ours the default for future versions though, once people are used the game more. Perhaps it's a case that were not trying to drag them away from PES or FIFA, we tryuing to lull them into a false sense of security :D

FIFA will be better than PES this time.
LMAO@ Fifa will be better....
I was playing Fifa 2004 at Playstation Experience, and the EA guy came up to me and asked "How is Fifa this time round sir?" I simply just went ":-\" for a second and his reply was "yeah, I know I know, it's shit again isnt it?" my reply was "got it in one"
even EA know Fifa will always be behind Konami's soccer series
:D
BTW, surely the control system isn't that much of an issue? Aren't all the buttons reconfigurable? There's quite a few PES players who still use the fifa controls these days. Whichever game they play, they will just use the controls they are more comfortable with.

I have seen i magazines that their is loads of bugs in the game - u ain't played it so don't judge it by its cover.
Craiiig David
19-09-2003, 10:02
No i have'nt played it but i have seen the demo, and the bugs are minimal and for a game of that size u would expect it, it is twice the size of PES3, and i think u must have read the PC Review because i think that has got quite a few bugs in.

Sorry, time to moan. It's for your own good :D
I have to tell you - there's no bugs in CF whatsoever, none have been identified by Sony and Microsoft in testing - there might have been in the preview versions but not in the finished games. Promise - plus it's not a PC game - it's PS2 and Xbox.
As for the demo - we haven't released a demo!
And finally for controls - yes, you're right Zygalski, they are fully configurable anyway so it doesn't make a difference - perhaps it's just telling that in this fiorst version the default Config. is PES-like.

There's no bugs in the finished version - the games are passing Sony/Microsoft testing without a problem at the mo. The mags are probably referring to a preview code they got. But they weren;t too bad either. BTW - Club Football is only on PS2 and Xbox, no PC. And final moan - there was no demo of CF, we're not doing one (contractual issues).
Finally, yes Zygalski, you're right - the control system is fully configurable so it doesn't make a difference about controls really. Just some people see it as telling that the default controls are PES-like.

Ah! Got you - yeah, it was an unofficial preview of the game filmed at E3 in May for PSM2 Magazine. Yeah, there were a few bugs in then, but then it was five months before release! :)

I know quite a few people won't like CF but that's life - like some don't like FIFA or PES. I say we're better than FIFA as well - but we're not as good as PES. We know this but we'll get there.

As long as you play like Everton now as opposed to Everton 8yrs ago that is fine. Wait for blue to respond...
Just a fact - apparantly Club football are trying to pinch all of fifa and konami's supporters by allowing the player to use the button configuration from both of these games. Sneidy or what?

God, gamers are so untrustworthy. It's not a conspiracy... ;)
We put the FIFA and PES configs in there because we know it's pointless forcing new ones on players - it's better that CF is 'pick up and play'. There's still two of our own button configs in there along with a custom config if you want to program that. That's not sneidy, that's common sense. Yes?
I like that we're 'trying to pinch all of fifa's and konami's supporters' - that sounds very underhand and devious. Hope I'm involved in doing that, whatever it is ;)

OK, promise I won't. Really, for Club Football this time we've trying to be a viable alternative to FIFA on Xbox and try to establish ourselves on PS2. I think we can dfo that. I'd certainly like a situation where PES3 and Club Football succeed and FIFA loses some ground... ;)

just watched the video footage, looks this "this is football"......not a good thing i tell thee
All my mates are going out to get their different version of Club Football the day it comes out.
I might end up picking up a copy of the Juventus one if it does turn out to be good, but even if it is good, it'll never replace PES. PES3 will easily be much much better. Can't wait.

When does it come out again? I think I am getting mine next week...
The game comes out on the 10th October 2003! which is next friday!
Me and some of my mates are going up to a shop called CA Games to get the game on Wednesday. They sell all their games really early.
If it's a big game (like, really big), like say the next GTA, or a Zelda game, they'll begin to sell them on the Monday - if it's a game with hype that isn't going to be brilliant it'll be a Wednesday, and everything else is on a Thursday.
So some of my mates will have Club Football before anyone. I'm going with them, but not to get it. I'll wait for PES3, ta very much. :)
