The Halton Stadium, is situated in Widnes, England. And is the home for each of the Widnes Vikings team (Football and Rugbly League). The stadium was also home to Widnes' neighbouring town's own football team (Runcorn FC Halton), however they had to stand down as their hosts, as Runcorn were struggling financially.
The Stadium currently only has 3 stands, however a fourth and final stand is being contructed as I type this, and should be finished by the Widnes Vikings - Warrington Wolves Rugly League derby match in mid-August. The new stand will the increase the Stadium's capacity to approximately 16,000. This of course compliments the many other facilities here at the Stadium, like the Health & Fitness Gym, Indoor sports, many function rooms, and high quality conference rooms for the many local businesses.

The team looks pretty good. I especially like the Mascot!! (It's Elmo from Sesamie Street if im not mistaken)
Kemik to Konquer football!
In what could possibly be Kallum Taylor's biggest and best singing so far, Kemik the Viking has signed to be the mascot of the Widnes Vikings football team...
Kemik, who has, and still will be the Mascot of their Rugby League counterparts also, jumped at the chance of filling the vacant mascot role when he received the call from Taylor in his home, situated in The Horns.
http://www.widnesvikings.co.uk/images04/kemik.jpg
Kemik - also represents the Rugby League side of Widnes
Here is a profile on Kemik the Viking:
D.O.B: 971 AD.
Place: The Horns.
Height: 7ft.
Weight: 20st.
Position: Club Mascot.
Clubs: A big wooden one for hitting Anglo-Saxons with.
Kemik arrived at the club in his longboat soon after Widnes adopted the Vikings name for the start of the 1997 season.
His all action style made him an instant hit with the Widnes faithful and they have taken him to their hearts. Such is his impact that it would be hard to imagine match days without him.
His speed of thought and ability to do the unexpected mean that he is definately one to watch.
The initial position of Mascot, was indeed vacant as Elmo (The former mascot), was found guilty of smuggling drugs into the Country. The Vikings manager had little to say about the criminal apart from this:
"We really do feel the need to stress that Elmo, is no longer connected to this club in any way, shape or form. He is a disgrace to this club and it's fans."

Elmo, once a kids favourite character...hid his stash in his toys.

I can't have criminals at this club. :)
And a criminal is what Elmo is, thus, he cannot play for this club.
Sorry mate, Kemik is quite loveable though.
VIKINETTES GET THEIR HANDS ON BOTH BALLS!
Continuing the make the link between the Rugby League and Footbal sides of Wides more stronger, Widnes Vikings Football Club manager Kallum Taylor, has singed two very lucrative deals...
The first of which, involves the issue of the "FC's" team kit...It was never the best quality kit to wear, nor the best looking, thus Kallum Taylor, now has permission to send his football team out, sporting the official Widnes Vikings Rugby League kit.
"A team's kit, to me, should be smart, made of good quality materials and should represent the team, it's fans or it's town. The previous kit did neither of those, whilst this new one does...It also makes the bond between both the Rugby League and Football sides stronger. Making the town more 'as one'."
The second of the deals, involves - again, the Rugby League side of Widnes. The deal, gives the football side the right to sport the already famous 'Vikinettes". They will Cheerlead the team before each of their fantasy league games and any other match they play.
Here are some pictures of the Vikinette's, in some of which they are sporting the new Vikings kit:

This will certainly improve the viking's morale.

Apology accepted.
I wouldn't class myself as a fan, but I do keep on eye on what's going on through-out the season (Widnes are struggling :( ). And yes I have heard of Jim Mills, great player...bit of a temper ;) why?
Went to my uncles funeral last week He played for Halifax in the 50s when they were a good team At the funeral it was a bit of a who' who of Rugby League with people like Billy Boston there. As my uncle was welsh all of the welsh players who had gone to play league were there - Jim Mills spoke in the church. He was a good friend of my uncles - I have met him loads of times and can tell you off the field he is one of the nicest men you could ever meet (he must be over 60 now and i still wouldnt want to argue with him !)

Oh right?
That's good to hear is that mate, and I do see your point;)
OUT WITH THE OLD,
IN WITH THE NEW
Another revelation came from the Halton Stadium this afternoon, as it was revealed that the troubled Widnes Vikings midfielder, Thomas Galasek, would be becoming a free-agent as the club have released him.
They did this, to make way for the up and coming midfielder known as Mohammed sossoko.
http://www.valenciacf.es/images/noticias/Sissoko30marzo2005b.jpg
Sissoko - Arriving at Liverpool John Lennon airport this morning.
The player was hot property on the market, and with him being a free-agent, he was available simply by acceptance of contract. And he did just this at the Halton stadium today.
Again, another hot prospect has arrived at the Vikings, which is a plus...But they really do need to lose 2 players, to match the maximum limit....fast.
EXTEBARRIA MAKES WAY FOR YOUNGER STAR
http://footballmsn.skysports.com/images/players/4155.jpg
It was an inevitable event, yet a sad one Spain legend Jose Extebarria anounced his retirement from football today, at a time he called "just right..." at a press conferance at the Halton Stadium today...
Here is an extract from his interview:
In Spnaish for his fellow countrymen:
And translated into English:
"I beleive I've had a healthy career, one of which I may not have won evrything I set out to win, however I enjoyed it thouroughly...which to me, is the most important thing. I'd also like to point out, I'm not leaving on the newly appointed manager's accord. He's a great character, and he is planning on making this team great, to do that we need a brand new revolution at this club. I feel I cannot be part of that and I must pave way for the younger guys."
But to cheer fans up, Mr.Taylor once again, has brought in an adequate replacement for the leaving player, in the form of Former Real-Betis star Edu.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/news/2003/08/12/champions_rdp/t1_edu_ap.jpg
Edu's full name is 'Luiz Eduardo Schim'.
Surely now, with a player of his calibre, the Viking's midfield is perfectly sound? We'll have to wait and see...

You need to drop 2 players. 18 player max.
TAYLOR DOES THE INEVITABLE
It was always going to happen. The Widnes Vikings manager Kallum Taylor would eventually have to cut down the numbers at the Halton Stadium.
Due to Fantasy League squad restrictions, the Vikings manager can only have up to 18 players in his squad, and up until this evening he had 20.
He did intially have a transfer list of players that he felt had no future in the club however, little interest was shown in these players, thus the prospect of a big name having to leave the Halton Stadium was becoming more evident.
This 'prospect' was finally confirmed around 9:45pm today, when FC Umbrella Incorporated came in with 3 very tempting offers, which would've sorted the numbers issue at the club right away.
They consisted of an exchange between the Viking's young starlet Christoph Metzelder, and FC Umbrella's Robert Kovac- who would be an adequate replacement for Christoph. The second of the deals would be a 20 Million Pound swoop for the Viking's playmaker Gerard Lopez. And finally, the third and final deal would be another 20 Million Pound cash injection into the Vikings, if they would let FC Umbrella have the services of the Argentinian striker Julio Ricardo Cruz.
The Vikings accepted.
http://home1.vr-web.de/~peter.boehm/images/personen/robert_kovac_0203.jpg
Kovac- To join Widnes Vikings
Manager Kallum Taylor, has appeared not as solem as many expected, saying they were offers that he "couldn't refuse", and he did ask any fans who are angry or saddened about Metzelder leaving to "try and sympathise" with him about the situation he was in, afterall, the clubs Bank Balance (In comparison to the other FL clubs,) was down to a low £24 million pounds, and he needed to rid himself of two players, at least.
THE VIKING'S BATTERED SHIP FINALLY SINKS...
...The rugby team, that is.
T'was a cloudy afternoon, as the usual stench drifted across the town called Widnes.
16 points to 60 it finished.
Widnes Vikings Rugby League Football Club were finally relegated from the Super League. It had been a long season, and this merely put an end to the Viking's fan's misery.
What made it that so more aggrivating for the Widnesians was that their local derby rivals, Warrington Wolves were the team who sent them to bed.
Fucking Bastards.
All is not bad, for now.
The Vikings may be able to stay up, depending on who wins the National League grand final this October. As one of the finalists, (Doncaster) May be refused promotion to the Super League, due to their finances, and other random shit.
For those who are wondering though, the partnership between Vikings Football team, and Rugby League team, is still ever-existent. And it will play a major part in boths teams future.
Smack my bitch up.
