Bordeaux starlet Rio Mavuba has confirmed that Arsenal have been in contact over a potential move next summer.

The Angola-born star has already made waves at Bordeaux, and it appears his quality has earned the interest of Arsene Wenger.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Mavuba insisted that contact had already been made, but that it was only to discuss a move in the future.

"They are considering the prospect of a move next season," said Mavuba.

The 21-year-old was a virtual ever-present for Bordeaux last season - and has had a huge impact since arriving at the club.

The midfielder, who has been capped by France, has also been eyed by Bolton and Sevilla, but has already suggested that his ambitions lie with Arsenal, Real Madrid or his favourite club Juventus.

he will not do us any good this season as they are talking about 2006/07 season. for now, i think we need an experienced keeper for covering jens lehmann. and i've heard that lehmann will be suspended in our first 2 champions league matches. sebastian viera failed the medical so let's forget him. but we need a bigger name than that if we are going to win the games... please no alex manninger nor rami shabban...
