2 questions

1. Is the draw gonna be on sky sports news? 2. Who the hell are Petrzalka?

Elhombrebala
25-08-2005, 00:25
I know the draw is gonna be on Eurosport at 15:30 UK time. At 15:00 pm the Uefa Gala will start and shortly after that the draw starts.

Artmedia Petrzalka is an Slovakian club.

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 00:51
ah! Artmedia, it just said Petrzalka but I only seen them as Artmedia Bratislava.

Elhombrebala
25-08-2005, 00:54
Oh ok. They won on penalties against Partizan Belgrado which really came as a suprise.

AgentZero
25-08-2005, 01:03
so how does this work?......does one from each pot gets drawn?

25-08-2005, 01:06
so how does this work?......does one from each pot gets drawn?

Aye that's it one team from each pot and you can't face a team from the same country as you unless your name is Liverpool.

Also I believe the draw will be on Sky Sports News.

25-08-2005, 02:01
I bet u any money Man Utd will get Villareal.

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 02:30
looked at the skysports webpage and that said it will be on at 2pm on skysports news.

Those pots are worked out via European seedings correct?

Sweey
25-08-2005, 10:13
By UEFA co-efficients, points awarded from performances in European competition over the last 5 years. Liverpool have no "country protection" and can draw Chelsea.

Ismail
25-08-2005, 10:58
Oh boy I want Chelsea to face an easy group like last year

Really, I would like Chelsea to see Liverpool and get a bit of revenge.

For Rangers, I don't know who I would like to get out of Pot 1, there all good but I would probably say get Ajax out of Pot 2, and Rapid out of Pot 4.

Remember Inter will have no fans in the San Siro when Rangers go to play them, so it'll be interesting to see how Inter perform in a strange atmosphere.

P.S Artmedia - all is forgiven! it would be the best day in history if you could give Rangers a beating, maybe 6-0 or 7-0! and make some of those gits eat their words!

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 16:28

u may netta watch out hearts doing one place better than last season. they started well and i think they can challenge the old firm this season.

Charlie
25-08-2005, 16:41
Nah, cant see it mate. Hearts will go Pete Tong very shortly... its all Old Fim.

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 16:42
Man Utd. have the easiest grooup out everyone though I think.

I disagree. Arsenal have Ajax, Thun and Sparta Prague. Ajax wasn't the same team now, Thun are a very small team and Sparta Prague are not up to Arsenal's level either.

But it's quite funny of some of the draws, Bayern Munich meet Juventus in group stage again. Two English semi finalists face each other again, this time I think it will be Chelsea winning but Liverpool will still progress. AC Milan and PSV Eindhoven who faced in the semi final of last season. Inter Milan and Porto who faced each other in the last 16, and Rangers and Artmedia Bratislava who put out the 2nd best team in Scotland. :D

But I think Group B (Barca, Panathinaikos, Bremen and Udinese) and Group E (Milan, PSV, Schalke and Fenerbahce) are the two toughest groups and would be entertaining.

Gun_Runner
25-08-2005, 16:42

Group D, E and G are the toughest i think.

Gun_Runner
25-08-2005, 16:51
Reals & Rangers' are tougher than Man Utd's.

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 16:52
u serious? lol

Udinese maybe outsiders but they are a force, I wouldn't have wanted them in Rangers group, neither would I want Panathinaikos, I think us Rangers fans should know about this team and they have probably improved then, last season drawing with Arsenal twice despite goalkeeping errors then finished off a 4-1 win over PSV Eindhoven. Udinese beating last season Uefa Cup finalist with ease. I don't see Barcalona going through the group stages comfortably but they will go through on top with probably Udinese in second I imagine.

Charlie
25-08-2005, 16:53
I agree, Gun_Runner, i will mianly watch Chelsea and Rangers in the CL games! Easy!

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 16:54
they'll never split Rangers & Celtic.

The likes of Hearts and Aberdeen might win the league sometime in the future, I'm not saying like 5 years, It would be way longer that but even if one of them do win the league, Old Firm just comes back together.

Ballymoor
25-08-2005, 16:57
i would of put money on Liverpool getting Chelsea, tough match!
Rafa should know a thing or two about this Betis team, they look dangerous.. no worries about Anderleacht!

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 16:59
Yea, Chelsea and Liverpool was just waiting to happen. To be honest, I think Chelsea will come on top but I might be wrong as Liverpool has shocked us in the past but 2nd place I think is between Liverpool and Real Betis.

GROUP H
Inter Milan
Porto
RANGERS
Artmedia Bratislava

This is going to be difficult for rangers, dont think they have the quality to beat porto or inter

Man utd should do well and get full points against villareal, lille and benfica.

u may wanna think again, ballymoor. anderlecht have some decent players in kompany (in jose's wishlist), tihinen (formerly west ham), goor, wilhelmsson (scored against england) and mbo mpenza. inter milan had some hard times against them last season...

I disagree not that cause I'm a Rangers fan, but FC Porto are not the same team 2 seasons ago, they've lost there best players, in that period they have had about 4 different coaches. Inter Milan is different, I don't see Rangers beating them but you never know but I definately see Inter Milan taking top of the group with ease, but 2nd place I think is really between Porto and Rangers.

Quite happy with our group:)

I would have loved it if we had Barca instead but Inter will do. Going to all 3 home games:D

I think:-

Inter-draw/home-lose/away

Porto-win/home-draw/away

Bratislava-win/home-win/away

:D

Porto have still got class players like costinha, Mccarthy, ricardo, diego and manice so there not quite finished yet. Like you say inter will probably go top of the group and its between rangers and porto for the second spot, rangers best beat the team that celtic lost to.

Eric Clyde
25-08-2005, 17:16
2 seasons ago when Rangers where in the CL that was a team of diddys who trailed like 20 points to Celtic and a disgrace to Rangers but this season I think we have improved while Porto is going down. But we never know but the good thing is that I'm a season ticket holder so at least i'm gonna see some competitive games.

Well I never expected so many comments on us but oh well.

I think we have a very good group considering we could have been in replacing Anderlecht and playing Betis, Chelsea and Liverpool. We should have football after Christmas and I believe that if we play Inter in an empty stadium it could be very good for us. Also, I think it's almost certain the two matches against Porto will decide our fate. They are no where near what they were two seaosns ago so I remain optimistic.

Anyone got a full list of fixtures?

It will be like nothing you have ever seen before. ;)

We made a big effort when ManUre came two seasons ago, I think there will undoubtedly be more of the same.

Got any idea on the fixtures of this group? Im looking very much forward to the Oly-Madrid games. Hope Lyon wont knock us off. The way i see this (or hope it is!)

1- Madrid
2- Oly
3- Lyon
4- Rosenborg ,, just like the Rangers - Porto thing, it will depend on who can score more.. hopefully Rivaldo will get vital goals for us! i believe we can beat lyon at home, but then we must draw them away.

Olympiakos fan are you
i'm trying to find a full list of the dats and fixtures for this grup, all i know is the opening day fixtures are:Lyon-Real Madrid;Olympiakos-Rosenborg*

*i'm not sure who's at home in that match

You can say that. Arsenal shouldnt have such a difficult time. I expect though that Lille will give Man.U a hard time, just a feeling.

Rafa should know a thing or two about this Betis team, they look dangerous.. no worries about Anderleacht!

true chelsea will be tough but betis are also tough and dont doubt the underdog anderleacht they can pull out a a suprice!

Anderlecht have a good team intresting to see them play. I think that either Chelsea or Liverpool might cancel eachother out because Chelsea might win both matches against Liverpool and then Anderlecht could get some points off them and sneek the points.

I doubt that Larsson doesn't even start in the first-eleven off Barcelona, how is he going to be able to become topscorer.

Do you think Anderlecht will be so easy to beat?

Remember the Champions League from Man Utd in 2000 was it i think.
Group with Anderlecht, PSV, Man Utd and Dinamo Kiev

Man Utd - Anderlecht 5-1
Anderlecht - Man Utd 2-1

Do not underestimate the Belgian teams. Know everyone can see playing our talents Kompany and Vanden Borre. Finnaly...

5 years ago Humanfly, you can't really say there a threat when they beat Man Utd 5 years ago, but your right you shouldn't underestimate them.

Anderlecht stand up against Man United no way. They'll really get beat.

Wtf?
That team 5 years ago was the team that won the Champions League!
Cole, Yorke, Beckham, then all on their top level.
I'm not a supporter from Anderlecht, but i hope they can win or draw against Chelsea and Liverpool.
Will be good for Belgium football.

ohh I can't wait tomorrow, the group stages is always the best stage of the Champions League, I love in a wednesday having skysports on seeing all the results, though I wish I had sky. :(

Rangers have no chance of getting even a uefa cup spot this year. look at the evidence, this year they have lost twice already, bothe games conceding three goals, and one of those defeats were at "fortress Ibrox" in the last 25 minutes.

They are sorely lacking in world class talent throughout there team, with the exception of dado prso, barry ferguson and maybe that mullet of a goal keeper!

But its not the individuals that matter on the european stage - just ask arsenal! I think that given the signings that the really big teams (Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan) have made this close season i think it shall be a massive wake up call for all british teams competing in the CL. Even bloody chelsea. Real Madrid and either Barca Or AC in the final.

You knows im right

u must be jokin' about ranger's chance. i doubt Porto would give them big headaches. Inter yes, to every team they cause problems. Artmedia pretty much should be easy wins.

Rangers Porto 3-2
Inter Rangers 1-0
Artmedia Rangers 1-1
Rangers Artmedia 2-2
Porto Rangers 1-1
Rangers Inter 1-1/2-1 (im sure inter wud have qualified and put on their "b" team)

Prso should score 3 to 4 goals at the most.

UEFA Cup is almost sure, they will battle for second. :)

If your on the internet, just have skysports soccer up, that updates you with the results, unless it's only on a saturday you can do it but may aswell check, if not that, you can use uefa.com, they have a minute-by-minute result.

This ain't Real Madrids year, it won't be for a couple of years now. Barcelona yes, and Chelsea maybe.

The skysports.com score thing does work in CL games, as far as i mind, Daz.
