Stoke City can confirm that recent record signing, striker Sambegou Bangoura, will continue to be available for first-team selection.
Media reports have today disclosed the 23-year-old, from Guinea, has been assisting Leicestershire police with their inquiries into a possible offence of illegal immigration involving a third party.
The inquiries, which are ongoing, will not affect the player's place in manager Johan Boskamp's squad and City fans can continue to look forward to the former Standard Liege star making his eagerly-awaited Potters debut in the near future.
Says club Chief Executive Tony Scholes: "Sambegou was detained by police on his arrival in the country last week to assist them with their inquiries in relation to a third party and he will continue to assist them.
"He has not, however, been charged."
The Guinea international arrived at the Britannia Stadium on Thursday but was not part of the squad which won 1-0 at Preston on Friday night.
He is, however, expected to be strongly in contention for a place in the squad for next Saturday's home derby against Wolves.
Christ, why doesn't anything ever go right?
Definitely Maybe

He;d already missed his plane the week previously after international duty and then when he did catch it he was refused entry for not having a visa and got sent to Belgium. Now this!

From Standard Leige for £950,000.
Just been speaking to a mate. He saw Boskamp in town on Thursday night and asked him if Bangoura's going to be playing against Wolves (yam-yam's) and Bossie said "If he's not in jail..." Makes sense now.

No idea. He'll play against Wolves at some point. Maximum sentance he can recieve is 14 years and deportation. Tends to be about the two year mark. Although, he hasn't actually been charged with anything yet.

Update: Sammy's in the clear now. He scored against the Trainspotters on Tuesday and he had a really good game.
I can't wait until he learns English, then he'll be able tell the midfielders where he's going to run to. :)
Dubes was on the web-Site saying how he'd been crap in training too. He then goes, "We've all been ripping in him, telling him it's really his brother turning up, the one he brought in with him. Now we're waiting for the real Sammy to come over!" What a guy.

SAMMY Bangoura left English football owing former Stoke colleague Mama Sidibe around £2,000, The Sentinel can reveal.Sidibe lent him the money through instalments last season to help the wayward striker overcome financial difficulties during his time at Stoke.
But Bangoura, who this week signed for Portuguese club Boavista, has made no apparent attempt to repay the loan.
"I feel really disappointed with him," admitted Sidibe.
"He was a good friend when he was here. He was coming round to my house and there was no problem with him.
"I gave him the money because he said the fine by the club meant he had no money to pay for things. It started before last January I think. He did not pay me back because he then went on loan to Belgium. It was hard to phone him because he changed his phone number.
"I spoke to him once, just before the summer. He said he would be back at Stoke and would give me my money back."
Bangoura returned only briefly during the close season, however, when he visited the Potteries to empty his rented house for the last time.
Sidibe was away at the time and so the pair never met.
"For me, the better thing is for him to call me," added Sidibe. "If he said he cannot give me the money now because of problems, I could understand. "But if you don't call, it means you don't want to pay.
"I am talking to his agent. He said that when Sammy signs for his new club I will have my money back, but I am still waiting."
Bangoura's troubled two-year stay in England ended when Stoke recouped a portion of the £1m they paid for him by agreeing a deal worth an initial 400,000 (£270,000) for a player effectively a free agent after the August transfer window because he was out of contract next summer.
Neither Bangoura nor his agent were available for comment.
Fuck me, he's a bigger twat than I thought.
I looked at the first post confused, as I thought he had left Stoke, then I saw the date of the opening post

Further update: Sammy's in jail. Beat up his wife in the street while on-loan at Cadiz. Cadiz have, unsurprisingly, booted him out.
What a top-hat. Such a waste, I'd kill to have the talent he was blessed with.
