This has nothing to do with the Arsenal's poor disipline. i will be the first to admit that Arsenal have a poor record. That is definitly one thing they need to work on.( my suggestion is just play dirty when the ref isn't looking.) ;)

I realize that it is very early in the season but I think that Arsenal have finally found the perfect style of play. While we did win the Double in 02 I think that the manner we did so was a bit of a fluke. We played nice open attacking football but with hardly in balance in terms of defensive work. Also alot of those players were haveing the best spells in their career to date. And while last season we continued to play like that we simply do not have the depth to consistetly play like that. So this year I think Arsene has decided to be slightly more cautious..which I think is good. While we still have a considerable way to go in Europe, I think that the Inter game taught alot to Arsene about the way he needs to play the team. We haven't always played well ( the Draw against Portsmouth was disgusting) But yet we have managed to grind out excellent results. The win against Liverpool especially I think defined the new style of play, still deadly counter atacking but with a little more caution. I also think that much of the Arsenal grit had been lost in the last few years but it seems to have come back this year. While we are weak in some area's (Defense!!) we have very adaptable players. And on the plus side I think that Man Utd has bought some very average players as of late so I think the gap isn't as wide as some might belive. Liverpool won't win anything as long a Houllier is still in charge. He wastes money. #20m for Heskey and Diouf.hahahahahahaha :D But Chelsea on the other had scare me shitless..... I won't make any predictions but for all the gloom that was spoken about Arsenal this summer I continue to belive that wer're the top team in england.

looool i think thats the advice wengers giving the players already mate, then say you didnt see it

im not sure about top team in england, and not making and great buys this season was a bit of a worry
(when other temas improve around you and you dont, thats not great - the rubbish about arsenals main signing this summer were the contracts of henry viera etc is bullshit IMO - they only sayin that to act like everythings normal)

lets just hope u buy some better defenders in january window eh

my prediction for arsenal : 2nd

I agree defenders are needed. Toure can press players and is ok in the air but he is not a defender. I see him as central midfielder. And beyond him we have no real player to parter the sol.

why buy cygan? why? what kind of buy is that lol

i remember when arsenal had the best back 5 in like the world (seaman included)

its showing how much u miss adams now

I agree we do miss Adams. Campbell isn't much of a leader in the back. Yeah Cygan sucks. Bad buy, I cringe everytime he gets a run at the first team. When he came on against Newcastle he was the worst player on the field.

I'm just and Arsenal fan who understands our strong and weak points.. Pragmatic...(gasp!)

But I think we will win the title if we do some biz in January.

Heh, I thought this was going to be another FA/Arsenal thread. Quite happy it isn't, the last one ended up turning into a slating thread towards the Gunners.

Toure can press players and is ok in the air but he is not a defender. I see him as central midfielder.

Totally disagree with you there. K-Lo has been magnificent this season. Wenger took a gamble (seemingly) with him and, boy, has it paid off. Even in our worst performances this season (Inter game, ugh) he was more then average. He's not a central midfielder. The boy was raised as a defender. In his last club he played as a CB and he's a CB for the Ivory Coast national team too. Many people seem to forget this. I've been so pleased with K-Lo's performances this season. He's a hard worker, full of determination and he's signed a new deal that will keep him at Arsenal for another five years. If he keeps up these kind of performances, that contract could be one of the best things that ever happened to Arsenal.

But I think we will win the title if we do some biz in January.

We will. It was confirmed in the AGM. On a side note, I'm already chuffed with the signing of Cesc but he's only 17, of course.
I'd like to see Aliadiere and Bentley get more games this season actually. Wiltord is playing crap. The way he plays sometimes, he looks like he's pondering which club he'll be moving to in the summer already (a la Overmars).

Yeah I agree with youth getting more of a chance in the team . It seems we get lots of good talent but never use them and then off they go to some first or second division club. I hope wiltord leaves. He has never played well. Arsene has given him enough shots at being our second striker and if he was any good he would have already nailed down the spot. It speaks volumes when Aliadiere starts in front of the french international. Atleast Edu seems to be finally coming into his own (right when we need it too.) For me though the jury is still out on Gilberto.

Edu's an intelligent player. Great passer, good defensively and he doesn't mind getting stuck in. I think I might fancy him alongside Vieira when he comes back from injury. He certainly has shown he can take the senior role (Moscow game in particular).

I was speaking of Bentley earlier and forgot to mention his mad goal last night! Great stuff. Freakish hairstyle, however...;)

Yeah I also saw the Bently goal. Very good indeed. I also think the Parlour is going to be a very important player this year. He is probably my favorite Arsenal player. He just has some much physical presence on the right flank that it really allows the center of midfield to go forward better.

Hey, they are few Arsenal fans who don't love Parlour. :)
I'm glad he got a run in the first team. Arsenal need competition in places to stop complacency. Imagine the displays we're going to get from SuperBob and Parlour as a cause of this competition.
I must say, Pires responded well against 'Pool. ;)

I'm surprised you saw the Bentley goal actually. Must be hard finding Arsenal games in the US so I'm quite surprised you saw an U-21 game against the Czech Republic, heh.

Did it come on telly there?

Yes Bob really did well. That goal I couldn't belive went in. It looked like it was going wide. Pure class. I think we did so well to get those points, for much of the game they were the best team but alas we took it to them:) Kinda like the ill fated 01 FA Cup Final.

Yeah its actually not that hard to see games here Fox Sports world shows quite a few Arsenal games. Plus there is an Arsenal bar where I live that plays all of their games. As for the bently goal there is a show that shows all the highlights for the day
