I forgot My Friends and Walkabout. Walkabout should definately be on a GTA game. I can just picture walking about torching people with a flame thrower to the sound of "I think I'll go on walkabout, find out what it's all about..."

Stone Roses - Made of stone
Beatles - A day in the life

Loads of others, but those 2 really make the hairs on the back of my neck standup!

Just noticed, both are songs about people dying in car crashes.
Strange, eh?
Check the lyrics to "Made of stone":

Your knuckles whiten on the wheel/The last thing that your hands will feel/Your final flight can't be delayed/No earth; just sky, it's so serene/Your pink fat lips let go a scream/You fry & melt, I love the scene...

I didn't realise a day in a life was. But I've only just found out 'Get Back' is about Enoch Powells racist laws on immagration, my how times have changed.

There is a light that never goes out is another class song about 'wanting to die'.

There is a light that never goes out is another class song about 'wanting to die'.

A day in the life features a car death; "he blew his mind out in a car/he didn't notice that the lights had changed..."
But the whole song's much broader than just that.

Class choice of "There is a light..." btw :)

'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' is a great track

"And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine"

The Smiths were a brilliant band. Morrissey is a fantastic lyricist, check out 'This Night Has Opened My Eyes' for an example of this.

'how soon is now?' is a classic aswell

"There’s a club, if you’d like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home, and you cry
And you want to die

When you say it’s gonna happen now
Well, when exactly do you mean ?
See, I’ve already waited too long
And all my hope is gone"

'More Than Words' by Extreme is another great track

The Smiths were quality, Morrissey/Marr was one the great songwriting partnerships, what are your favourite Smiths albums? Mine are Hatful Of Hollow, The Queen Is Dead and Meat Is Murderyeh id agree, its just amazing how although the 80's was really a pretty shocking time to be alive, the mullet and all the electro shit, how the classic shit really is classic comepared to the stuff of today, and id agree with u on the fav Smiths albums too, The Queen Is Dead just got i think it was number 8 on Q's best British Albums of all time list, although i was very dissapointed that Stone Roses debut album only got 17  although all the shit they done after that was pretty poor, Ian Brown has released some decent solo stuff though, i just love Morrissey's attitude hes such an arrogant fuck and the most miserable bastard ur ever gonna come across, but something about him u just gotta love :D oh and of course how still 20 years later hes sporting the 'quiff'

It was shit how Morrissey was kept of number 1 by Frankee and Eamonn, he's got more talent in his little finger than they'll ever have. I like the fact that he's not afraid to speak his mind, like about Thatcher or live aid in the 80's. He has also got more wit and intelligence than any other singer i've seen, i'm glad he kept the quiff also.

The Queen Is Dead usually does rank highly in most best album charts, Hatful Of Hollow was the first Smiths' album that I bought, I only bought it because it was Ģ4.99 and had How Soon Is Now? on it, but I soon found out it was a quality album.

How Soon Is Now? is definitely my favourite Smiths track, some of my other favourites are:

This Night Has Opened My Eyes
Wonderful Woman
Half A Person
Girl Afraid
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Panic
That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore

Yeah I nominate This Charming Man too.

Great song, especially the lyrics/music clash. By listening to the tune you'd think it's a pretty upbeat song. The lyrics suggest otherwise.

Are You In? by Incubus is another favourite, although it's almost ruined by the cheesy scratching.
