View Full Version : Favourite Players
Who are your all-time favourite players and what are your reasons for rating them so highly?
My personal choices are:
Zinedine Zidane - fantastic player, does everything with ease, instrumental in Frances' World Cup 98 and euro 2000 wins.
Roberto Baggio - Forget about THAT penalty miss, scored some of the greatest goals of the 90's
Alan Shearer - One of the great centre forward of the 90's, a lot more than just an out and out striker, a great leader.
Peter Beardsley - A Newcastle legend, was underrated but still a brilliant, creative talent.
Diego Maradona - Yes he was cheat, but he was still one of the greatest players ever, took Napoli to the Serie A title.

i love to watch Okocha just for his skill and Giggs for his dribbling. I think Rui Costa's very underated and is easily up with Zidane, Figo and Beckham. Baresi was a brilliant defender as well.

Giggsy11

1.Ryan Giggs, one of the best players to eva come out of Manchester United.
2.Dwight Yorke, he may play for blackburn but in my eyes a united hero!
3.Paul Scholes, so many good things about him
4.Andy Cole what a goal record in the prem!
5.Roy Keane,A winner!!!
Jose Luis Chilavert -:
He's scored over 50 goals in his career, and for a goalkeeper, this is incredible. Nearly past it these days at the age of 38, and he hasn't played for Paraguay for ages, but I hope he continues and scores some more goals.
Thierry Henry -:
Sooo pacy, sooo skillful, and he doesn't just score loads of goals - he makes most of them as well. Had the highest number of goals and assists (put together) last season in the Premiership, and at the rate he's going, he'll do it again this year too. Great player.
Zinedine Zidane -:
Just a simply fantastic player. So much skill, so much class, and he's easily the best midfielder in the world today. Possibly even the best player, although it's tight between him and Thierry Henry.
Pavel Nedved -:
Probably not going to be in many people's lists, but to me he's a great player. Not quite Zinedine Zidane, but he's not far off being as good as him. Quite easily the best player playing in Serie A, and one of the best in the world. Speedy, skillful and he scores a lot of goals from a midfield position.
Roberto Baggio -:
Although nowadays he's not playing with the same amounts of class as he had a few years ago, he's still proven he can be quite effective from the attacking position, and racks up regular goals for Brescia.

Absolutley, my fave player too. Left for peanuts as well, less than what we paid for him.
Didn't see the penalty, but I did hear that he may have dived. Very un-Holland like if he did. A true professional

From a footballing point of view Ronaldinho, Okocha and Zidane are great, because they entertain. Even if their side are beaten, they'll still give the fans something to cheer about, which I think is what the game's all about. The fans!!
Zola, Maldini and Southgate are favourites of mine too. They are model professionals.
i was about to post and looked up at flippers.. you gotta agree with everyone else's but ronaldinho looks like the next heir to the king of brazillian football - pretty damn impressive
it's hard to pin him down - a striker who can pass with ease or a mf who can score with ease.. that guy can do anything like its a joke
Ronaldinho
Saviola
Scholes
