This may seem like a bizarre post to put on a Pro Evo forum, but I know that if i went on the FIFA forums I would get a biased opinion. I respect you people's opinion because I have read your arguments for and against Pro and the vast majority are well argued. Who amongst you has played the latest FIFA? Honestly-how does it stack up against PES5? To clarify-I love PES5, but i don't want to overlook FIFA in case i am missing out on a good game. Give me your opinions people, and I will digest...

If you can buy FIFA you might aswell, and if you want to buy it you might aswell.

Personally, I have to say I was hooked on FIFA2006 until Pro Evo 5 came out. It's a massive improvement over last years installement.

But it still aint better than Konami's little love-child.

Fifa, does play alot better than before, and the gameplay is more lifelike. Alot more "free" or "looser" perhaps, like PES. But it still has the same old things which knock it down a 'grade' or two from PES.

Such as, the shooting, again is something that confuses me. You still have the same 'pre-set' shots, and the keepers direction of movement is decided before the balls been struck. It's ver yhard to explain, but it's not realistic at all. This is one thing were PES delivers, the shooting s completely free, and can bounce any where etc...

That's just a breif analysis.

I can't cope with the FIFA controls. One-on-one, every time, I press square and cross.

i'd definately agree with Kallum, there seems to be something wrong with fifa's shooting! i always buy both games and although i play pes a lot more its still worth owning fifa. its pretty good this year but if i were you rent it or play a mates copy 1st, see if you like it then buy, unless you can get it cheap, i paid £13 for it because i traded in old games!

I actually enjoyed this years fifa, wouldnt keep me enteretain till next year though, but the high definition graphics and the sublime commnentary blew me away, nice too see they have adopted the pro evo controls as their "new" system.

Well, first of all I haven't bought a Fifa since 98WC. I'm hooked on pes series since the first iss.
What I hate is people bashing Fifa while most of them haven't even tried it or gave it a match or 2.
I bet 95% of pes lovers (including me) were quite shocked and dissapointed in PES5 at that first match or 2.
But everybody is saying (including me :) ) give it some time and you'll find- it's great.

So what I'm saying is try to test both of them some time and you'll see what seems better for you.
I just can't get off the p.e.s. series, but I ain't bashing Fifa cause I know I didn't give it enough atention.

I used to buy both, but I have always got bored of FIFA after a few weeks and gone back to Pro. I might buy FM2006 instead then...

for me I never stop playing pro evo at the moment I play every day it's like an addiction.Few weeks ago play proevo then sniper elite this went on for a week or two then finished sniper elite and im now playing warriors. My point is other games come and go but pes is every day 365 days a year.

FIFA 06' is a vast improvement on 05' but still, in my opinion, doesn't match up to pro5. For me the movement is to 'robot like' and the shooting is bollocks, but i suppose if you want the licenses and all the teams then get FIFA, if u want gameplay and sheer enjoyability buy pes, the choice is yours :) (and before u ask i have played 4 seasons on FIFA and then i got PES so i stopped.)

The FIFA Season Mode is great minus the actual playing of the matches, the game has been well layed out. But the graphics are lacking terribly, but as I wouldn't play the matches anyway I don't have too bigger problem with it. The Season Mode is superb with the Management feel to it, you seem to be in control all the time and I like it.

So in conclusion, I like the Management feel to it but I wouldn't actually play the matches, I'd skip them or watch COM vs. COM.

Expect these things whren you play FIFa 2006:
Great sound
good commentary
the goals look the same
You never got excited after scoring a goal, you'll be like, "oh..Ok, I score a goal"
The shooting looks freaking unrealistic
99% of the goals are scored by the strikers

-That's all I found out after playing the demo;)

In the past the PES series were much beter then the FIFA series on all kind of different areas.
Now, to be honest the difference isn't this huge anymore, especially because this version of PES (5) had to much opportunities left behind.

So, I bought Fifa as well and both play nice.

Buttttttt: the main pro voor PES5 is this forum and all the fabelous patches which are created....

so you decide...I stay with PES... but for how long....i dont know..

Thats a quality game :D, I got Pro Evo 5 and Fm06 at the same time on the release date, they are great.

If you got the money, both are good, but PES5 is a better game. Manager Mode in Fifa kicks Master league though, and you should see some of those magic moments. Jesus Christ...

FIFA 06 is nice to have but PES5 is a must-have. I've own both and played both. Like people say, FIFA 06 is a big improvement and I used to like and play FIFA 06 but oce PES5 released, I havent gone back still. It just doesnt compare to PES. The fun factor in PES is missing in FIFA gameplay. Even FIFA06 is very predictable and boring after some games. The ecstasy you get after scoring a goal in PES is missing in FIFA.

To answer the inital question - I don't think FIFA is worth getting after buying PES...
My opinion on this topic, having played both Pro Evo 5 and FIFA 06 is simple - if good graphics and official licences/names grabs you over gameplay, then FIFA is more likely the game for you. However, if you rather the reverse, better gameplay sacrificed for lesser graphics and licences, then PES may be your game.
My experience having played PES for so many years and then playing FIFA recently, I felt the dribbling and shooting to be restricted and gameplay arcadey. It wasn't fluid, and thats not football. PES on the other hand is a simulation of the game... more realistic.
Think of the two games like this - FIFA is an automatic transmission vehicle and PES is the manual. (Do you think I'm reading to much into this? LOL!)
I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts who've gone the other way - played FIFA all their life and then trialed PES. Did they feel the same? Or did I miss something PES is lacking?

Do they still have the weird meter bar which is extremely difficult to understand and the prefixed instructions for freekicks and corners. If they are in the affirmative then I doubt whether it is fun let alone the gameplay.

If you have already bought PES5, theres no need to buy FIFA.

Pro is still the better game, but to be honest fifa has improved more from last year then pro. But fifa's striking problems are awful, make a run with midfield, waiting for strikers to make theirs, you can wait all day there not going to move lol. They will just gorm. Also, when playing against comp, the oppositon just bladders the ball for no good purpose into the crowd.....When you've played pro and then go on fifa you're like "WTF? this is so not realistic, which is damn true, they can't find the secret recipe of pros realism". GOOD OLD PRO!

there is no point in buying fifa,i bought it this year to pass the time until pes was released and although i was suprised about the quality of the game i have never played it since i got pes5.If you play fifa after pes it will be like steping out from a ferrari into a nissan sunny.

hey i'm hooked as much as the next pro evo fan amazingly hard game and fustrating at first you start to realise this game aint shite you just got to think football not computer game, plus i think alot of people still thinkin of pro 4, right anyway bak to this about fifa yea fifa aint bad not had a chance to play this years game but i bet it aint tht bad, the things what let fifa down r the graphics come there heads r huge and they look like lil fat people lol they move like they have a set routine not much freedom, then u have pro where i found out today tht ur so loose on the ball it like a proper footy game i think thats where people are finding it hard because of the realism of the game where if u turn tht quick u can lose the ball on like fifa tht ball is stuck to you, i'll give you one or two sentence answer to the fifa and pro evo arguement.
Pro Evo 5: you want realise, a game what will make you think and make your brain work harder and really get that footbal brain on over time then get pro evo for the sheer realism of it all.

Fifa: if you dont mind the lil chubby people with big heads running round then get this game, this is the game i call goals galore, if you want goals then this is the game, its an arcade game, the onli thing it has on pro is the offical liecencses (sorry for the spellings)

Pro Evo simulation
Fifa: arcade
thats the best way anyone can put it let us no wot you think

Well, lets put it this way. What's more realistic? Fifa or Pro Evo?
There's your answer.
