View Full Version : ::Will Pro ever be fully licenced?::Predictions
I remember playing ISS and I always wondered why this game never had real players or jerseys. I made myself believe that Fifa had bought all the rights and that why Pro couldnt compete. Then there was This Is Football and even David Beckham Soccer:realmad: with fully licenced teams in their games. I then thought hmm..may be Konami dont make a lot of money from this game thats why they dont buy the licence..wrong again...this game is a best seller every year. With Pro 5 I thought the English League might have got the full licence..what happened..only Chelsea and Arsenal? So I have now decided that Konami are cheap idiots who will never spend the money to make this game better. Any real reasons why Konami have never bought the licences?

Who Cares about names anyway. I wouldnt care if they started calling everyone oranges again or whatever blah blah blah. All I care about is the gameplay and Its super so i really dont give a f*ck
Gameplay is the most important thing..all I want to know is whether Konami have a valid reson for not buying licences. I am not moaning about not having real names..I still buy the game every year.

I don't know the exact details and it's been discussed many times before in previous threads. But on the cover of fifa2006 it does say "exclusive licence" which may suggest that it isn't available to more than one software company?
Giggsy11 should know.
Good point..BUT how is it that every other football sim can get full licenses.Even Actua soccer had full licencing?Cant be that exclusive then can it? Giggsy 11 ..help us out here?

I was reading an interesting article about pes6 for ps3 and seabass quotes " We will try our best to license as much as possible "
:realmad: I think EA buy some kinda copyright now :realmad:
F**K EA SPORTS
;) There are great option files but it would be nice just to see konami totally blow EA JOKE off the map
If you remember when NFL 2k5 sega version came out as soon as EA seen they bought the licenses they just went and bought all rights to ANYNFL sponsored logo so that no one can ever make a fully licensed american football game without EA's permission :realmad: Damn i hate EA :realmad:

well if it does'nt have the all the licences
at least you can edit them
the editing part is the second best bit of the game
it would be a shame if the editing kits option was removed

from what i've heard, fifa own the liscense for...well all leagues. konami have to do everything one at a time, so while fifa have the right to the premiership, konami have to do it all individually. thats why in pes3 we had roma, ac milan, feyenoord and so. then came along pes4 with all the liscenses for those legues. so maybe next year konami will have gathered together even more liscenses, so we may see a fully liscensed premiere league and scottish league, who knows?
i may be talking **** i dont have mucch to back this up.
real kits arent needed and your probably one of those mugs who dont understand that gameplay is important not licences go and buy yourself fifa u MUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Understand that gameplay is the most important thing but it would be great to have fifa's presentation and lisence's with pro evo's gameplay..
I Think everyone has to agree on that?
lssj_broly
30-10-2005, 11:35
^ i agree. id like a new addition to master league where you can swap teams mid season also...because i can never stick to one team.
then theres the possibilty if konami were that bothered they'd spend more time on licensing and less on gameplay.. then in the next series we'll play a game like previous fifas thats dog dirt.. and no pesfan wants that!
Don't you think, that in a company like Konami the people responsible for negotiating licences and stuff and differnet from the ones doing the gameplay? Come on man, think!
And all this "Go and play Fifa"-Crap, as soon as anybody says anything against Konami is really getting old.

We would not be on a pes fan site if we wanted to play fifa, but i think some of the complaints about konami are justified if other football games can get full licences then why not konami?
Are fifa trying to stop it because they know they can never beat pro evo's gameplay?
it would be good to have all liscences it would be more realistic yeah but i coulnt care less if they only had 5 teams id still play
I can't see it happening in time for PES6 to be fair.

c'mon man. You've never played fifa? i think you should at least give it a crack every few versions to see if it has gotten any better. Unikely as it may be that it will NEVER be as good as ISS/PRO EV/Whatever they change the name to next, you should still give fifa a chance.
i personally haven played fifa since fifa2003, and haven't bought one since fifa2000, but i'm still interested in trying it out one i pry myself away from PRO 5.
more to the point of this thread: EA arent stupid enough to take these licences out one year at time, so konami will probably have to wait until EA's current contracts come to an end before it has a chance at full licencing. One league at a time. EPL will be the last they completely licence imo. I wouldn't expect PRO 6 to be fully licenced, that's for sure.

well i reacon it should be fifa's music, and all the menu's and stuff cos i got to admit i ain't likin the new pro's starter screen bit sad i kno but i jus thinkin of ideas anyway fifa's crowd chants cos we all know on pro that the crowd aint that good and there should be abit more of a buzz when you score and some other selebrations, and the comentrary that defo needs sortin out i get fed up of hearin the same everytime, ok that and from pro i'd have the gameplay defo the graphics animations well basicly the rest of the pro evo game i didnt cover in fifas part, o and of course fully lincesed and the editer and defo change the master league make it abit more detailed things happening and stuff maybe make it more of a football manager but wrapped in like a proevo game, what you lot think?

I think the celebrations u can unlock in the shop r mint :) but yeah it is nice to see fully licensed teams but apart frm the gameplay my favorite thing in the game is being able to edit teams and players the way u can, it's great! EA and FIFA can shove their licenses up the big fat arse as far as i am concerned, Once a PES fan, ALWAYS a PES fan!
I would love to see it all be liscensed but i am not sure it will happen for a while until PES becomes the biggest selling football game.

If you took the time to read any of my post you would know that I am not just moaning. For some1 who has been part of this forum for a while you should know how to debate or get ur point across without all this stupid aggresion. I asked a SIMPLE QUESTION. Does anyone know the reason why THIS IS Football can secure licences but Best Seller Pro cant? We all have speculations..but doeas any1 really know whats going on?

I asked the exact question a while ago;. this is football has way more players and teams to fifa itself.. but never anyone has said... it's because of this or that... always very vague answers.. But it's okay; i never play fifa, i never play tif, but i was just curious
fifa would be dead without it's licenses that's the onley thing it's got going for it.As for pro evo well I play it for the gameplay and being fully licensed would be great but it would not bother me if we never got licenses at all.But saying that I am lucky enough to be able to play patched pro evo it add's to the game with shit hot kit's,propper boot's and real chant's so much more realistic.

Ok so that everyone knows!
EA Sports have rights to all software productions to most football leagues as we all know well after reading this thread maybe you all dont know:unsure:
Anyway this means that konami needs to approach each club individually for their licenses which means alot of work but there getting there.

not at all sorry if i offended you to start with.
but FIFA have now bought all software rights to most leagues which they never had in the past it's the same with NFL.
There we go David..now were communicating...mate understand that every and I mean EVERY other Football game has full licencising. Here's my theory..like u said Fifa buy up evrything..but why would they give other games the licences? May b they dont see them as a threat? NO! This theory is bull shit! Konami are just lazy fuckers who wont buy the damn licence. So what if they have to negotiate seperately..every other developer manages to do it just fine

Some good points about other football games being fully licensed. I'm sure the "This Is Football" games are fully licensed. And David Beckham Soccer was fully licensed aswell.
I wouldn't say Konami are lazy but I'd definitely say they're tight. In other words; cheap bastards.

Konami have stated that PES for the PS3 will HOPEFULLY have full licensing. Thing is konami have to agree terms with each team, this is why we just have arsenal and chelsea in the premiership. Also if u cast bk to PES3 there were only a small handful with licenses. They are slowly making progress on this issue but whether full licensing will ever be available is very questionable.

I guess I am the only one here who has actually played This Is Football/World Tour Soccer....................
It is not fully licensed, there are many teams with fake player names and such just like PES/WE.

Good Point Mate.but I Cant See Them Dissapointing Us A 6th Time.
As we have said every year heres hoping mate;)
I haven't played this years FIFA game. But i do intend on playing it at some point to see where EA are going with the series. I made my judgement on FIFA based on last years game.
Mate the only thing you are missing out on is EA Sports Music - which has been top notch and which if they released a soundtrack every year I'd buy, but the gameplay is horrible IMHO, it's "arcadey" to the hilt, though I do have to give them props in the area of "stadium athmosphere", it's still not enough to warrant playing for more than half an hour IMHO.
Anyway as for Konami - there was talk PES5 would have the french and german leagues licenced, but sadly they are not.
My main issue is not licences per se but the little things that Konami have in their control but choose not to do.
Examples:
1) Teams
You should be able to create generic teams, currently if you want to create a team that is not in the game you have to overwrite another.
Most people only overwrite a few and are quite content with overwriting PES & WE UTD, and perhaps a couple of other non-major teams in the "other" section, however I am not.
If more generic teams were able to be created you could create many clubs for many leagues, which brings me to my next point.
2) LEAGUES
This is my biggest issue.
At present in the ML you only have 4 leagues, and a very small div 2, personally I don't see why Konami can't expand this to say 8 leagues, all containing a div2 (even if that div 2 is only 8) teams.
Here's how it would look:
L1: EPL
L2: Serie A
L3: La Liga
L4: Eredivisie (Dutch)
L5: Bundesliga (unlicensed but all the teams are there anyway.)
L6: Ligue 1 (French - unlicensed but all the teams are there anyway.)
L7: Other 1
L8: Other 2
As the game is now, 7 leagues could be supported using every team, however if Konami gave users the option to create more generic teams, 8 could be quite easily created, and surely each having a small div 2 of 8 teams with promotion/relegation, wouldn't be a problem.
This is what gets my goat because to do this Konami don't have to chase licences, they know that the PES community love the game and edit freely and would be quite happy to turn 18 generic teams into replicas of another league (Russian, Greek, Turkish etc) but they don't do it.
I don't understand why?

The licenses will come eventually. I think it takes a lot to get them I am sure, and now that EA knows that a lot of people are starting to go over to PES they are going to try even harder to hold on to these licenses exclusively. Here in America EA has gone as far with other games for american football as to make it to where they are exclusive in terms of making football games. The licenses will come and that is the straw that breaks FIFA's back!
EA has exclusive lisences....and yet their kits aren't accurate at all. Have you guys played World Cup 2006? The adidas kits are off and the gameplay stinks. Every missed shot either hits the posts or is saved.
Konami makes up for the lack of lisences with an edit mode. FIFA doesn't have it.

never...it takes half the fun away from pro evo
it does not effect the game not having a full license, as people have said they are more than happy to edit kit's them selves to make the game a little more real. the reason I hope konami go after more licenses is that on previous we/pes games it was possible to patch the kits now in we10 this option has gone for the time being till some one cracks the kit's. and as each day goes by it looks more and more unlikely, konami has made it hard for us to have kit's so we can only hope for the next gen to have a full license it's being wasted on fifa but until that time comes i'll be happy editing.

Their not 'cheap' , but they're just not rich enough.:( FIFA Football gets all the billions of money, from Electronic Arts. No wonder why FIFA has all the licenses. Those things cost money you know:( And all the clubs ask tons of money!!! ( for licenses )

konami doesn't need to buy the liscences because this game is best seller without them. and by the time konami gets the liscences EA is gonna have identical gameplay.

Err...Konami have been developing computer games since the late 1980s. As far as I know, Electronic Arts have been developing games since the early 1990s so in that respect, Konami have had a head start.
I just don't buy the excuse that the licenses are "too expensive". Konami have been producing games for years. They're a massive company and they should be able to afford these kind of things. And the recent growth of the PES/WE series should mean that Konami should be investing more and more money into each new version of the game.
I've often heard people on this forum say that Konami are just plain lazy - I don't think so. I think that EA have got a collective contract with FIFPro and an agreement with FIFA that allows them to license all parts of the FIFA games. This leaves Konami trying to license the PES/WE games by negotiating licenses individually possibly with each player and club. This is where the problem lies.
I think Konami's long-term future licensing strategy is to wait for EA's collective deal with the FIFPro to run out and then pounce. For the mean time, they'll happily negotiate licenses on an individual basis (ie. negotiating with the Premier League etc). Not to mention the fact that some players are now starting to sell their own sporting rights (Ballack, Kahn etc.).
But it may be a long, long wait for us to see a fully licensed version of PES/WE.
AaFK e best

Personally, I think Konami should buy a few new licenses each year, like they did with PES5, and use some of the other money to buy contracts with football players and/or coaches. These persons could also be on the game cover. These persons would have to rendesvouz with Konami, and they'd be game testers (there would be more game testers, of course). After playing an early version of the game, they would list some tips and hints to make the game even more realistic.
I know this sounds kind of silly, but I was a little disappointed with my first PES game, PES4. I've never played PES5, though.
Therefore, I want the PES series to be a bit more realistic...
