View Full Version : Season 1 D1 Relegations/D2 Promotions

OK, some of you know of this already and everyone informed about it has fully supported it, but i've been asked to post this here to let everyone know what's going to be happening in the next week or so with the D1 relegated teams and D2 promoted teams. This has been used in other Fantasy Leagues on forums that Victor visits and it's worked very well, so it will be used in the PESFL.
If we're all honest, it's very clear that Teekay and Pier would win against every team in D2 next season if they keep the likes of Ronaldo, Adriano, Buffon, Makelele etc. They would beat everyone easily to the annoyance of the D2 managers who are giving it their all to build a team capable of getting promotion, make loads of money and gain promotion back into D1 and have funds to make a top 5 team, while Hunter and Muad will probably struggle in D1 due to a lack of ''superstars'' and the unwillingness of D1 teams to sell their top stars, which is understandable.
Therefore, there will be a draft for the 2 promoted teams (Hunter and Muad) where they can trade one of their players for one from each of the 2 relegated teams (Teekay and Pier).
Hunter, as D2 winner, gets first pick and will choose a player from either team and swap for a reasonable replacement. ie Buffon signs for Hunter, Kameni for Teekay. Then Muad gets to pick from either team, so might pick Ronaldo from Pier and give him Djilbril Cisse. They will then choose from the team they didn't trade with the first team.
Once players have been traded from each team between the 4 teams, there will be a Bidding System in place for D1 teams, where they can bid for players from Teekay and Pier's team. The highest bidder wins.
eg Manager A bids 55m for Makelele
Manager B bids 57m for Deco
Manager B will then sign Deco for that amount if no-one makes a increased bid for another player from that team.
To put it in short, the 2 D1 relegated teams will be losing 3 players each, but will gain 2 very good D2 standard players, plus a big sum of money from the bidding system, while the D2 promoted teams gain 2 world class players to give them a realistic chance of competing in D1.
This is to make both Leagues as competitive as possible next season, and while the D1 relegated teams are bound to feel hard done by this and won't like the idea of losing 3 players from their team, we hope you can understand that relegated teams need to be weakened to help bridge the gap between the standard of teams, and that they would still have a strong team, which is very capable of gaining promotion back to D1, and will be in the position that the D2 promoted teams are now in if they do so. D1 teams had a huge advantage in getting pick 11 players from anywhere in the World before D2 managers could pick one, so now, the D2 managers who gained promotion will get to sign some world class players for their team as a reward for their achievements.
I got lost around the Bidding System.

What if.. let's say I already got a deal with Pier about selling ronaldo to me, would that keep him away from being traded with players from the promoted teams (muad or hunter)?
How can Div 2 managers not bid on the players???
i confused please explain again more carefully lol

If Hunter or Muad pick a player that's involved in a deal, it would have to be cancelled. You'd have to renegotiate ith whoever picked him.

Probably because that'd take some of the purpose of trying to help balance D2 away, Pier or Teekay might aswell keep the player, as they are in D2 aswell. This is to try to make it more realistic and have D1 teams buying a top talent from a relegated team, rather than having players like Ronaldo or Buffon in D2. If D2 teams have enough money then they can bid for D1 players by all means, but they won't be involved in the bidding system.

sounds like a plan to me ;)
I don't think Pier and Teekay will agree with this
Seems real tough on them to be losing the likes of Buffon, Makelele, Zambrotta, Ronaldo and Adriano
Yep, I think the same like Figo....but James have reason too......they will win every match and promoted to D1 again......

exactly, name one team who was relagated and kept a star-calibur player, never happened, and is unfair to D2 in this situation as well, im sorry if then don't like it but they should have done better.

Maybe so, but Victor's decision is final, it's definitely going to happen, no amount of complaining will change that. It might seem tough losing top players, but they'll still have a very good team and a good chance of gaining promotion back to D1, where they'd then be in the situation Hunter and Muad are in now with the chance to bring in 2 top players. It has worked very well on other forums, and there's no reason it shouldn't here.
What Preki said is correct.

pretty much right there...its only fair pier, don't worry about it...just rebuild the team and get back up...if you really have a problem then quit, we have plenty of people who would be pumped to take over ur team...if ur team was more successful then you wouldn't be in this situation...if we took a vote the league would approve this in the majority...
sorry man, msn me, ill be back home on sunday, right now im in boston, tomorrow im goin to ohio to watch ohio st. football with 100,000 other people in their ridiculous stadium.

Easier said than done by rebuilding his team  Really feel sorry for Teekay and Pier :( since there wasn't notice of this before hand and no time to prepare for it. I agree that it'll be for the better of the league, but still, it seems harsh to me.
fuck that shit ! this is fucking bullshit !! everyone fucking on msn now !! im gonna fucking sell my players fuck it im quitting this shit , trade me ur shitty ass players and ill give you everything that ive got , this is just plain bullshit, i gotta give a shout out to the one that had this great fucking idea , fucking geniuses first u vote me off every fucking match now u want my players for free , fuck that shit i'll do this my way. ronaldo adriano watever , get me on msn and talk to me if u want them ill be on msn all day so come give it to me

You can do that if you'd like, but I see no reason in becoming so infuriated by this. I've been trying to come up with something to settle the trouble with the relegated teams and their strengths. You are loosing a few players. Not a whole squad. You are getting plenty of money and players in return.
If you feel cheated or mistreated don't make a huge scene, maybe you should try to PM me regarding the issue.
But yes, this is final.

Grow up, it's a fantasy league for fuck sake, it's not your life on the line. It's fine if you want to quit the team, we've got people who want to manage a team, and if you're going to be immature like this, I doubt you'll be sorely missed.
You won't 'do it your way', you didn't put this Fantasy League together, you didn't go to all the effort of making it a success and you're not the boss. You talk about respect a lot, well show some respect to Victor's decisions or quit without whingeing.
Pier, i feel for you and Teekay, i really do, but it is the logical thing to do. I doubt Ronaldo would want to stay with Madrid, for instance, if they got relegated to segunda. But this trading your players nonsense is out of the question. He shouldnt be allowed to trade before we pick and the same goes for Teekay, obviously. I know it goes without saying but i just thought id say it anway just so we are all clear on this.

Yes, Pier/Ronnie I will be monatoring all your deals from here on out.
Just to make sure you don't try this.
Muad and Hunter, you will get first pick before any other D1 or D2 managers no matter what. No worries.

Should the thread go up now then so that Hunter and Muad can pick? Then we know exactly who has who when the transfer window opens.

Yeah, I'll open a new transfer thread up for this season.
The first transfers will be Muad and Hunter's picks. :)
Do you want to put up the penalty shoot-out or shall I?

I dont make the rules. Most of the people in charge agreed and we went ahead and did it. I didnt like the idea at first but it made more sense the more people explained to me the reasons and i could not help but warm up to it...
The auction is a bit too much if you ask me.

The auction is a bit too much if you ask me.Most? Most people didn't have a clue about it. The auction will become a total farce.
Most people that play an active part in keeping this league alive i should say.
The auction will become a total farce
It already has.

Pier and Teek should be happy, the prices for their players are outrageous, they will make bank.
Plenty of cash to rebuild anything they want.

Ok, fair enough. But in future I think the manager should reserve the right to hold on to players they want to keep. Sorry but if Real Madrid got relegated they would sell their player on their say so not because other managers think it's a good idea.
Preki-USA
17-11-2005, 00:34
so in the future we should penalize them like 60 % of their bank balance? i think that'd be a better idea, force them to sell some bodies, or maybe 75% even...if a team gets relegated they take a huge financial hit.

But then they could just not buy anyone or sell anyone and get promoted straight away again.
Plus, there would no advantage for the promoted teams and they'd go straight back down.

Not to mention make a bucketload of money from D2 and then have huge transfer funds to allow them a push for the D1 title. The bidding system has become ridiculous, that should be changed next time, but the trades should turn out ok, and make both leagues more competitive.

Next time just take away the auction bit and it will be sweet. :)

Auction seems great to me, two managers in an auction hall
Though you're right it's getting a lil' ridiculous
If it will not be done in the future then this one should be anulled.

Not really, the rules were stated and I've scrapped most of my transfer plans to bid etc., which is a bit unfair.

i agree this is quite stupid
I don't think it is.
Phat wanted a good left-back in Zambrotta and Teekay wasn't willing to sell him, so the bidding has changed that. Phat has now the left-back and Teekay's replacement has now 131m

The bidding won't be the same next time around, we may not even have it.
2nd time around is usually better. ;)
