what a great lookin team I have ;)
I would go for Reyes on this one as his team are just better overall but I do think that Preki's strikers would cause some aerial problems for Chivu and Heitinga.
I pretty much agree with Top Gun here.
As for comments, there's not much to be said, everyone is where they should be and you are both playing a good ol' 4-4-2. Actually, for all I know, Smolarek may be out of posiion, I've never even heard of the guy so I don't know.
Reyes for me......great midfield and two young excellents forwards....

Reyes here. Although Alonso should be there instead of Fabregas. Also cant Reyes play on the wing?

nope
McBride with Toni?
a decent combination. McBride is the all-around striker, but he lacks speed. Toni is a beast in front of goal. I can see McBride scooping up some goals from Toni's shots.:)
Sasa on the left?
no comment
Kewell?
yes, Kewell on the left wing is the best choice. He's a lefty that can provide excellent crosses and occasionally make in-ward runs on goal for a shot.

Yes, but this is only a friendy, I wouldn't gain anything out of using my strongest team.
Preki gets my vote.
Why?
No offence to anyone, people can say i'm biased, but I don't see where my team would get hurt in this match. If I was using Senderos I could understand, as he's in awful form, but I feel Chivu and Heitinga have the beating of Toni and McBride. Top Gun makes a good point, but Heitinga is capable in the air, and Essien can drop back to help out if there's an aerial bombardment. I think Rooney and Podolski would cause more problems to Vlaar and Mertesacker than Toni and McBride would to Chivu and Heitinga.

Keane and Zokora would eat Fabregas for breakfast, so the creativity goes a bit downhill there, then there's the masterful left wing of Mihjalovic (great player) and Kewell (getting back to form). Also, Chris has some relatively unknown players making reyes' players think "this'll be a piece of cake" not realising that they are actually really great players and will emerge victorious.
In addition, Puyol and Cech wouldnt be happy with the bench and would end up storming off, bringing down team morale even more...
EDIT: forgot to mention the much in form McBride who would be winning all the headers up front making reyes' defence look stupid.
enough elaboration chris?

yes michael that is what I was looking for good call on the centre midfield
james, heitinga and chivu aren't exactly large cbt and mcbride and toni (both on top form) are really skilled in the air
although I don't think anyone is really looking at rooney and poldoski vs my young defence, I think thats a matchup you could win.

As I said before: "Also, Chris has some relatively unknown players making reyes' players think "this'll be a piece of cake" not realising that they are actually really great players and will emerge victorious."
so players like Rooney and Podolski would be in for a surprise, thinking that they'll easily be able to score boatloads of goals.
Reyes has a much better team for me. Preki's defence is decent at best, the two CB's are decent, and I imagine that Castelen and Malouda would catch Mihaljovic and Mancini out seeing as how Mihaljoivc is shit, and Mancini is more of a right winger than a right back.
Reyes has a better balance in midfield, Keane and Zokora are hatchet men, they'd provide good cover, but no real creativity, Essien and Fabregas would make a far better partnership.
No idea about Smolarek, but Kewell is decent, and I imagine could feed Toni and McBride with some good service. However Preki doesn't really have any goals in his team apart from the strikers, the CM's are hardly prolific, and Kewell doesn't get many, so I think that if Heitinga and Chivu, who are two good CB's, can keep Toni and McBride quiet, the team is really shut down as an offensive force.
I can see Rooney causing plenty of problems, and not sure about Podolski, only seen him play a few times, though he looks pretty good.

If McBride did manage to gain an advantage in an aerial battle, I could call upon Carles Puyol to help out. I have never seen Cristian Chivu being made to look like a stupid defender, and De Jong, Heitinga and Antonio Lopez are all very capable defenders, so I can't imagine all them being made to look stupid by Brian McBride. Fabregas isn't on his own, Michael Essien is there to help him out, and Fabregas isn't one to be afraid of tough midfielders. He outclassed Makelele and Lampard last year, and has run rings around Roy Keane in the past. I can't see Zokora and Keane dominating Fabregas and Essien personally, although it would be a good battle. Rooney, Podolski and Chivu often move into midfield so i'd have more than enough men to help out Fabregas if he did need some.
When have players stormed off when put on the bench for a friendly?

While they might not be tall, Heitinga is 180cm and Chivu is 185cm, so they're exactly small either, and both are decent in the air. McBride and Toni might win some headers, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll score.

I'm just defending my team. Everyone can have their own opinion, but i'm just putting my opinion across too. I don't think it would be a bad thing if we have more of this throughout next season, so we can discuss the key battles and tactics in matches, rather than the usual 'Reyes would win' or 'Preki for me' comments we receive.

I reckon Malbranque in for Smolarek would be a good idea, as many people won't know who Smolarek is but will recognise Malbranque as a decent player.
