West Ham will stay up, although recently they haven't been to what I expected, fair enough, dropping points to Chelsea and Wigan are fair enough but losing to Charlton and drawing with Portsmouth are the matches they need to win, but I still think they can finish in the top 10.

id like to know what Alan Pardew was smoking on Saturday... 4-1 to bolton. i know bolton are a good team but it was the managers fault this time. was voted manager of the month for last month, but i think he got a bit too big for his boots on saturday. why would you risk resting marlon harewood and dean ashton in a game that couldve decided europe for us. and elliot ward, i wouldve never started him ahead of christian dailly. or just play anton in defence and play yossi at the start. he probably was resting them ahead of our FA cup replay at Upton Park, but im not convinced we will beat them on wednesday night...

Yeah, thanks to that used tampon, muppet, Etherington, getting Jihai sent off, made me want to smash his ugly mug with a steel baseball bat, and then Musampa not sure whether to put the ball out of play, gives it to Reo-Coker, 2 nil. Proud of how they played in the last few minutes with 10 men, never giving up, in a strange way that kind of cushions the blow.

I think Ashton plays a bit like Sheringham. he is a class player and will soon break into the england squad. As for West Ham, i like them and i think they will do well in the premiership, i hope they can stay up for a few seasons now.

Also if you look at when the players they have produced in the past you wonder how they went down: Joe Cole, Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Defoe, Carrick, class players the lot of them (and all english)

True true, superb performance tonight even though i am a mad hammers fan all credit to city's musampa, what a beauty for a goal! Perfect, power and technique, personally as biased as it sounds i thought we deserved to win tonight, deano put in an excellent performance as did Reo-Coker and etherington. Also a big mention to 'Ginge' James Collins, he was absolutely brilliant at the back tonight in place of Anton Ferdinand. Well done lads hope we can go alll the way!!

Tevez is looking abit quality. I think the 2 legs will hang on his shoulders. We really need to pull a goal back. But you never know over two legs. Look at Middlesbrough last season they came back more times than Rocky! Still if we go out maybe a blessing in disguise so league and FA Cup can have more of a focus. But you never know... Lucas Neill has agreed terms on a two and a half year deal with West Ham but Blackburn and the Hammers haven't agreed a fee for him yet.Personally I hope that he doesn't join as he was set to move to Liverpool before West Ham stepped in and offered him a better wage making the whole deal stink of Neill's greed and West Ham's desperation. Also Neill has demanded a clause in his contract which allows him to leave if West Ham are relegated-how loyal of him.The pay deal is thought to be in excess of £50,000 thousand a week.

I've been keeping a quiet eye on him and, as expected, he's come to life as the season has progressed which is exactly what I was expecting him to do at Milan. We still lack the player who links midfield and attack although Kaka has started enjoying his new role. Tevez and Kaka just behind Ronaldo would be very promising.

A bit off topic here, but is Kaka's new role the support striker, or is it still attacking midfield, but he just needs to push up further?

He's currently playing as a support striker because Seedorf excels in the central attacking midfield role which he can occupy if we go with only one out-and-out striker. When he was initially asked to play there, Kaka wasn't happy with it and his performances suffered but he now says he was wrong to react the way he did and that he's learning more from the new role.

That's good. Glad to hear that he is happy in Milan again, because I don't want him to go to Madrid, or leave Serie A.

What I am wondering about Tevez is; who do you buy him from? West Ham, or that company who owns him?

Media Sports Investments. They're the real owners of his contract and can buy him out of his deal with West Ham if he wants to leave and the club refuse.

Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson has rejected claims that Carlos Tevez was ineligible to play for West Ham as the row over the striker's appearances for the Hammers rumbles on.

Relegated Sheffield United are considering a legal challenge to the league's ruling not to dock points and only award West Ham a fine after they were found guilty of breaking rules over the signings of Tevez and Argentina international team-mate Javier Mascherano last summer.

But the Premier League have denied claims that Tevez was ineligible to play amid claims that he had to be re-registered with three games of the season left.

"This has never been a question of West Ham fielding an ineligible player," Johnson told The Sun.

"From the day they signed him, West Ham have owned his registration. That has never been an issue.

"West Ham have never tried to conceal the fact Tevez and Javier Mascherano are owned by Kia Joorabchian and MSI. That is not against the rules.

"The only problem we had with the deal was the existence of a clause in the agreement which would allow Joorabchian to sell the players to another club at any time."

Meanwhile, Joorabchian has hinted that Tevez has played his last game for West Ham after claiming the striker is being coveted by a number of leading clubs.

"I'll sit down with West Ham if they want to talk to me about keeping him because you never know. But there are two of the biggest clubs in the world who want him," he told the Daily Express.

Hammers accept Anton bid

West Ham manager Alan Curbishley has confirmed Sunderland's bid for Anton Ferdinand has been accepted by the club's board.

Ferdinand, who was absent from West Ham's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, is currently on the sidelines recovering from a hamstring injury.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane stated he was close to adding two new players to his squad in the next week, one of them is believed to be West Ham stopper Ferdinand.

Curbishley has now stated that with Ferdinand reluctant to renegotiate terms on a new deal the board have decided it is in the club's best interests if the 23-year-old departs.
Bid accepted

"The board have accepted the bid," Curbishley told the BBC on the deal, which is believed to be in the £8million region.

"Anton has not renegotiated his contract, and the decision was taken out of my hands.

"I don't know where Anton is in terms of signing for Sunderland but once the club accept the bid, it moves on."

I cannot believe that we got £8m for Anton, that's a great bit of business and I'm very pleased. The only negative thing is that Curbs didn't get a say and I find it a shame the way he's being treated at the moment. Didn't rate Anton and he seems like a bit of an arse but he'll need replacing nonetheless and I feel encouraged to know that Curbishley has acknowledged that fact.

Just going back to the ridiculous transfer fee that Anton has gone for. We all know that English players are overpriced, but here are a few examples of superior English centre-backs (in my opinion) that have gone for less money.

Jonathan Woodgate - Middlesbrough ---> Tottenham for £7m
Joleon Lescott - Wolves ---> Everton for £4m with the potential to rise to £5m
Matthew Upson - Birmingham ---> West Ham for £6m with the potential to rise to £7.5m

I know age ought to be taken into account but come on! Those three players are all the right side of thirty and they're all so much better than Toast.

What's with letting McCartney go, man?

I'm really upset about losing George. He was our second best performer last season and one of my favourite players. The Paulo Ferreira move puzzled me at first but now that George has left it has become apparent to me that Ferreira (should he join) will play at right-back with Lucas Neill playing at left-back.

EDIT - Neither deal has been completed yet btw, both look pretty likely to happen though.

Might be all right, but like you said McCartney has been great for the club. Shame to see him leave.

Yeah, Lucas is fairly comfortable in at left-back but having a squad without a single left footed left-back isn't ideal at all. Personally, I like to see two in a squad.

Yeah, George was so consistent last season and started every Premier League game for us. While in at his favourite left-back position he displayed all of the attributes required to be a successful full-back. Also, because of the ridiculous number of injuries, when needed he moved inside to play at centre-back. I was very satisfied with him last season and as I said, he had become one of my favourites. I'd quite like to know how much Sunderland are spending on him, Sky Sports describe the offer as a big-money one. I'd like to think that we aren't allowing him to leave for anything too small and the Mackems aren't exactly shy of spending a bit of cash so I reckon we're getting a decent amount of money for him, still disappointing though.

Also, expect us to get a centre-back in at some point today to replace Anton with. I doubt it will be anybody too exciting but expect something nonetheless. We'll probably get the Italian defender that I enquired about in the Serie A thread on loan. Guglielmo Stendardo is his name.

I would have Bilic as manager without question. However, it seems unlikely due to the contract he signed for Croatia.

Paolo Di Canio?, tough question for me, he would be adored by us, the fans, but he has never managed before.

David Moyles?, well i would like this choice but he seems happy at Everton so i don't think he would be our next manager.

Allardyce? His record when he was at Bolton was good, but to carry it on if he was to join us would be tough considering how passionate we are about West Ham.

Souness?. Hmm, I dont think so.

Frank Rikarrd?. I would be very gratefull if he was appionted, taking his record when he was with Barcelona, but i don't think this will happen.

According to SkySports, Bilic is favorite to be the successor but only time will tell. In my opinion taking our managers record history, he will be British. But then again i don't know what the board are thinking so then again he could be Italian or Icelandic.

West Ham winger Matthew Etherington has received death threats over his £800,000 gambling debts.

The 27-year-old was forced to ask the club for a loan after he was warned that his life would be in danger if he didn't pay off a substantial sum.

Worried bosses gave him a £300,000 wages advance to get him out of immediate danger.

But the Hammers told Etherington, who earns £30,000 a week, he must start counselling for his gambling addiction.

A source said: 'Matthew has been a very worried young man. The club decided they had no choice but to help.

'They know how much courage it took him to come to them. It is not a conversation you want to have with your club.

'Matthew just wants to pay back the money and have this nightmare over.'

A West Ham spokesman said they had given the player "full support" and added: 'We are working to support him through it. Matthew knows he needs professional help and accepts it is a priority in his life.'

The former Spurs star was treated for gambling addiction in 2006 but relapsed after 18 months. The following year he was fined £2,000 and banned from the road for a year after admitting drink-driving.

He then spent a week at Sporting Chance - a rehab clinic set up by former England star Tony Adams
